Abstract

Featured Application: This paper considers the influence of sport on the human organism: "Sport as prophylaxis", "Sport as therapy", "General psycho-physiological connections in sport", "Athlete functional evaluation", and "Sport fitness". In particular, good endothelial function allows greater physique-athletic performances, so the endothelial functional evaluation can be introduced among the parameters tested in "Athlete functional evaluation". Under the theme "Endothelial reprogramming in sport activity", it emerged that a regular physical activity can cause modifications, including stable growth of endothelial vasodilating activity through NO production; a decrease of ET-1 levels; an increase of plasma NO/ET-1 ratio. These modifications can also be verified in elderly people, those with BMI > 25, and in menopausal women. Sport can protect from atherosclerosis, reduce the risk of atherothrombotic events in BMI > 25 people, and represent an alternative therapy of cardiac preservation in menopause. The neuroimmunoendocrine diffused system is the present pattern forming an integrated answer to the stresses. Analyzing, investigating, enriching, and coordinating the current knowledge on E. accumulated, we observe that it also complies with the same standards. Therefore, we propose the concept of the neuro-immuno-endocrine-endothelial diffused system as the new pattern forming an integrated answer to the stresses, offering a completer definition of the system directing omeostasys. So, we propose total plasma antioxidant capacity reckoning as a test that can be added at the routine-tests of sports fitness for those over 30 years of age, since coronary artery silent disease prevalence is higher for this population and endothelial function is a useful coronary artery disease biological marker. This paper deals with the role of the widespread neuro-immuno-endocrine-endothelial system in sport traumatology. The aim of this work is to see if sport or regular physical activity is able to reprogram the endothelium, to advance the new concept of neuro-immuno-endocrine-endothelial diffused system, and to introduce in the practice of sport medicine a new test in the fields of "Athlete functional evaluation" and "Sports fitness". The first object of this paper is to see whether sport or regular physical activity can change the functional structure of the endothelium. The second goal is to frame under a general view the knowledge and individual lines of research on endothelium, to highlight what we believe is, in the organization of homeostasis, the location of this 'organ', namely in the neuro-immune-endocrine system spread. Abstract

Work is a multidimensional construct that plays a crucial role in people's lives, assuring their psychological well-being, social connections, and self-determination. "Decent" work is conceptualized as a satisfactory job in conditions of equity, security, and respect for human rights. The paper reports the results of a study on the perception of the future and decent work in young immigrants, at risk of undertaking undignified and unsatisfactory jobs. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview, aimed at exploring the representations of decent work and hope. Data analysis was conducted through both qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of the study are discussed with reference to career counseling promoting decent work for immigrant people, activating the motivation to plan the future, including hope. Abstract

It is widely recognized that body dissatisfaction is an important public health concern. In the past, being a fashion model was almost synonymous with anorexia/bulimia, and even today, there are cases of eating disorders in young women whose ambition is to become a top model. Moreover, stress can play a substantial role within ill health via related behaviors such as smoking, substance abuse, and inappropriate eating. In our study, we examined 112 aspiring fashion models aged between 15 and 24 years (M = 19.5, SD = 2.08) from 32 different countries of the world during an international contest, and 100 students (control group), aged between 16 and 22 years (M = 18.6, SD = 1.39). The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to examine whether stress mediated the relationship between body dissatisfaction and eating disorders. The study included the administration of stress and self-efficacy and the locus of control dimensions, body (image) dissatisfaction, and eating attitude disorder. Results indicated higher scores on body dissatisfaction, stress level, and eating attitudes disorder among the group of fashion models compared to the control. Mediational analyses showed that body dissatisfaction was partially mediated by stress level on eating disorders. Especially in the aspiring fashion models, there are often many possibilities that competitive stress causes candidates to exacerbate attempts to maintain their body weight below normal weight/height parameters. These results indicated that appropriate intervention for the management of stress level could possibly defend against the negative impact of body dissatisfaction on eating disorder symptoms. The presence of skilled health workers in the field of nutrition and psychology can be extremely important in the field of fashion to maintain an adequate quality of life.

Abstract

Introduction. Several studies showed that motivation and performance are strongly influenced by the beliefs of self-efficacy. The aim of this research is to investigate the correlations between motivation to sport, prevalent motivational orientation, perceived self-efficacy, and performance in basketball. Method: 60 basketball athletes (41 men and 19 women), between 16 and 55 years old (M = 26 ± 5,99 years), completed the Participation Motivation Questionnaire, the Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire, and Basketball Efficacy Beliefs Scales. Results: Participants are motivated by the desire to win, the need to do something where they feel able, the need to enjoy themselves. The evaluation of the perceived self-efficacy provides an indication of the strengths and the weaknesses of athletes. Conclusions: In order to develop training plans and intervention strategies, it is essential to evaluate self-efficacy beliefs and the prevalent motivational orientation in sports contexts. Results can then be useful for a possible design of a program for athletes self-efficacy enhancing.
