We present a novel finite-volume QED action designed to improve the infinite-volume extrapolation of hadronic observables in precision lattice QCD+QED calculations. The new action, which we call QED$_\text{r}$, is designed to remove kinematics-independent finite-volume corrections that appear at $\mathrm{O}(1/L^3)$ in the commonly used QED$_\text{L}$ formulation, where $L$ is the spatial extent of the physical volume. For a number of key observables, these effects depend on the internal structure of the hadrons and are difficult to evaluate non-perturbatively, making an analytical subtraction of the finite-volume effects impractical. We show that the QED$_\text{r}$ action proposed here corresponds to a particular subset of the infrared-improved QED actions presented by Davoudi et al. in 2019. We explicitly study the QED$_\text{r}$ electromagnetic finite-size effects on hadron masses and leptonic decay rates, relevant for Standard Model precision tests using the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements. In addition, we propose methods to remove the kinematics-dependent $\mathrm{O}(1/L^3)$ effects in leptonic decays. The removal of such contributions, shifting the leading contamination to $\mathrm{O}(1/L^4)$, will help to reduce the systematic uncertainties associated with finite-volume effects in future lattice QCD+QED calculations.

We consider electromagnetic finite-volume effects through order $1/L^3$ in different formulations of QED, where $L$ is the periodicity of the spatial volume. An inherent problem at this order is the appearance of structure-dependent quantities related to form factors and the analytical structure of the correlation functions. The non-local constraint of the widely used QED$_{\textrm{L}}$ regularization gives rise to structure-dependent effects that are difficult to evaluate analytically and can act as a precision bottleneck in lattice calculations. For this reason, we consider general volume expansions relevant for the mass spectrum as well as leptonic decay rates in QED$_{\textrm{C}}$, QED$_{\textrm{L}}$ and QED$_{\textrm{L}}^{\textrm{IR}}$, the latter being a class of non-local formulations generalising QED$_{\textrm{L}}$. One choice within this class is QED$_{\textrm{r}}$, first introduced at this conference, and we show that the effects of non-locality for the $1/L^3$ term in the expansion can be removed. We report on the physical-point RBC/UKQCD calculation of the leading isospin-breaking corrections to light-meson leptonic decays. This is highly relevant for future precision tests in the flavour physics sector, in particular the first-row unitarity of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix containing the elements $V_{us}$ and $V_{ud}$. The simulations were performed using Domain-Wall fermions for $2+1$ flavours, and with isospin-breaking effects included perturbatively in the path integral through order $\alpha$ and $(m_u - m_d)/\Lambda _{\mathrm{QCD}}$. The decreasing uncertainties in theoretical predictions and experimental measurements of several hadronic observables related to weak processes, which in many cases are now smaller than $\mathrm{O}(1\%)$, require theoretical calculations to include subleading corrections that were neglected so far. Precise determinations of leptonic and semi-leptonic decay rates, including QED and strong isospin-breaking effects, can play a central role in solving the current tensions in the first-row unitarity of the CKM matrix. In this work we present the first RBC/UKQCD lattice calculation of the isospin-breaking corrections to the ratio of leptonic decay rates of kaons and pions into muons and neutrinos. The calculation is performed with $N_\mathrm{f}=2+1$ dynamical quarks close to the physical point and domain wall fermions in the M\"obius formulation are employed. Long-distance QED interactions are included according to the $\mathrm{QED_L}$ prescription and the crucial role of finite-volume electromagnetic corrections in the determination of leptonic decay rates, which produce a large systematic uncertainty, is extensively discussed. Finally, we study the different sources of uncertainty on $|V_\mathrm{us}|/|V_\mathrm{ud}|$ and observe that, if finite-volume systematics can be reduced, the error from isospin-breaking corrections is potentially sub-dominant in the final precision of the ratio of the CKM matrix elements., Comment: 66 pages, 23 figures and 4 tables

In recent years, lattice determinations of non-perturbative quantities such as $f_K$ and $f_\pi$, which are relevant for $V_{us}$ and $V_{ud}$, have reached an impressive precision of $\mathcal{O}(1\%)$ or better. To make further progress, electromagnetic and strong isospin breaking effects must be included in lattice QCD simulations. We present the status of the RBC/UKQCD lattice calculation of isospin-breaking corrections to light meson leptonic decays. This computation is performed in a (2+1)-flavor QCD simulation using Domain Wall Fermions with near-physical quark masses. The isospin-breaking effects are implemented via a perturbative expansion of the action in $\alpha$ and $(m_u-m_d)$. We present a new method aiming at a non-perturbative, model-independent determination of the momentum dependence of the form factors entering semileptonic decays using unitarity and analyticity constraints. We extend the original proposal and, using suitable two-point functions computed non-perturbatively, we determine the form factors at low-momentum transfer $q^2$ from those computed explicitly on the lattice at large $q^2$, without making any assumption about their $q^2$ dependence. As a training ground we apply the new method to the analysis of the lattice data of the semileptonic $D \rightarrow K \ell \nu_{\ell}$ decays obtained both at finite values of the lattice spacing and at the physical pion point in the continuum limit. We show that, starting from a limited set of data at large $q^2$, it is possible to determine quite precisely the form factors in a model independent way in the full kinematical range, obtaining a remarkable agreement with the direct calculation of the form factors. This finding opens the possibility to obtain non-perturbatively the form factors entering the semileptonic B decays in the full kinematical range., Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures. We present preliminary results of a calculation of the QCD renormalization constants (RCs) for quark bilinear operators, evaluated non-perturbatively on the lattice in the RI'-MOM scheme. The calculation is performed by using dedicated ensembles with $N_f=4$ degenerate dynamical twisted mass (clover) fermions and the Iwasaki gauge action. A detailed analysis is reported, with emphasis on the control or subtraction of the hadronic contaminations occurring in the lattice estimators of RCs and a check of proper scaling with $a^2$ of the final results. Such a careful study of systematic errors is the counterpart of the high statistical precision reached by current calculations of RCs in the RI'-MOM scheme and is important in order to quote accurate results in phenomenological applications, such as the computation of quark masses., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables. We present a model-independent and relativistic approach to analytically derive electromagnetic finite-size effects beyond the point-like approximation. The key element is the use of electromagnetic Ward identities to constrain vertex functions, and structure-dependence appears via physical form-factors and their derivatives. We apply our general method to study the leading finite-size structure-dependence in the pseudoscalar mass (at order $1/L^3$) as well as in the leptonic decay amplitudes of pions and kaons (at order $1/L^2$). In meteor physics the luminous efficiency ${\tau}$ is used to convert the meteor's magnitude to the corresponding meteoroid's mass. However, lack of sufficiently accurate verification methods or adequate laboratory tests leave this parameter to be controversially discussed. In this work meteor/fireball data obtained by the Fireball Recovery and InterPlanetary Observation Network (FRIPON) was used to calculate the masses of the pre-atmospheric meteoroids which could in turn be compared to the meteor brightnesses to assess their luminous efficiencies. For that, deceleration-based formulas for the mass computation were used. We have found ${\tau}$-values, as well as the shape change coefficients, of 294 fireballs with determined masses in the range of $10^{-6}$ kg - $100$ kg. The derived ${\tau}$-values have a median of ${\tau}_{median}$ = 2.17 %. Most of them are on the order of 0.1 % - 10 %. We present how our values were obtained, compare them with data reported in the literature, and discuss several methods. A dependence of ${\tau}$ on the pre-atmospheric velocity of the meteor, $v_e$, is noticeable with a relation of ${\tau}=0.0023 \cdot v_e^{2.3}$. The higher luminous efficiency of fast meteors could be explained by the higher energy released. Fast meteoroids produce additional emission lines that radiate more efficiently in specific wavelengths due to the appearance of the so-called second component of higher temperature. Furthermore, a dependence of ${\tau}$ on the initial meteoroid mass, $M_e$, was found, with negative linear behaviour in log-log space: ${\tau}=0.48 \cdot M_e^{-0.47}$. This implies that the radiation of smaller meteoroids is more efficient.

SKA (Square Kilometer Array), currently under design, will be a huge radio-astronomical facility, whose management will be performed by a suite of software applications called Telescope Manager (SKA TM) via the TANGO framework. In order to ensure the proper and uninterrupted operation of TM, a local monitoring and control system (TM.LMC) is being developed, with the goal to perform monitoring, lifecycle control and fault management of TM. For the monitoring activity, central in TM.LMC, Nagios (automated by the lifecycle management tool Chef) has been proposed as main toolkit to check resources, services and status of every TM application both at generic and performance level: for this latter purpose, a custom agent has been developed.
