Abstract

Tanaman cabai adalah bumbu masakan yang saling melengkapi. Harga cabai selalu berfluktuasi. Tercatat dari 2012 hingga 2017, produksi tanaman cabai besar (ton) di setiap provinsi berfluktuasi. Pemerintah membutuhkan prediksi ketersediaan tanaman cabai berdasarkan provinsi di Indonesia untuk meningkatkan ketahanan pangan, terutama produksi cabai. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi kepada pemerintah untuk dapat memprediksi ketersediaan tanaman cabai berdasarkan provinsi di Indonesia di masa depan. Data yang digunakan adalah data dari Badan Pusat Statistik melalui situs web www.bps.go.id. Data tersebut adalah data tentang ketersediaan tanaman cabai menurut provinsi di Indonesia dari 2012 hingga 2017. Algoritma yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Jaringan Syaraf Tiruan dengan metode Backpropogation. Variabel input yang digunakan adalah data 2012 (X1), data 2013 (X2), data 2014 (X3), dan data 2015 (X4) dengan 4 pelatihan arsitektur dan model pengujian, 4-2-1, 4-3-1, 4-4-1, dan 4-5-1. Data target diambil dari data 2016 (T). Output yang dihasilkan adalah pola terbaik dari arsitektur JST. Model arsitektur terbaik adalah 4-5-1 dengan zaman 670, MSE 0,010651, dan tingkat akurasi 99,97.

Abstract

The Indian Middle Palaeolithic has been recognized as crucial evidence for understanding the complex behavioural dynamics of hominins and is also seen as a behavioural marker of early Homo sapiens in the region. Recent research has pushed back the timeline of the Middle Palaeolithic to the Middle Pleistocene epoch, indicating a potential in-situ emergence from the earlier Late Acheulian culture. The long-lasting Middle Palaeolithic culture in India evolve over multiple glacial-interglacial cycle, showing signs of behavioural resilience to bigger climatic upheaval like ~74 ka Toba super-eruption. This has added to the complexity of our understanding of the Middle Palaeolithic in the region and emphasizes the need for further research. This study focuses upon the investigation of Middle Palaeolithic artefacts found in the Retlapalle area within the upper Gundlakamma river basin, Andhra Pradesh. The dating of the artefact-bearing layer was carried out using the p-IR-IRSL method, which revealed a burial age of 139±17 thousand years. The Retlapalle assemblage is characterized by a diverse range of Levallois core reductions, various retouched artefacts, with a dominance of pointed tools, and a few blade components. The study provides a valuable addition to the existing body of data concerning Palaeolithic sites dating back to the Middle Pleistocene, a period that remains relatively underexplored. Abstract

The chronology and hominin association of the South Asian Middle Palaeolithic have attracted much attention in the last few decades. The emergence of Middle Palaeolithic culture in the region has been debated between the local origins (behavioural change) model based on an early date around 380 ka and the diffusion (biological change) model based on Homo sapiens dispersals from Africa around 120-80 ka. The latter has more consensus, whereas the former requires a more robust chronological framework to attribute the emergence of the Middle Palaeolithic to behavioural changes. In the absence of hominin remains, the presence of Middle Palaeolithic technological trajectories are frequently used as behavioural markers of Homo sapiens. Homo sapiens fossil remains from the regions between Africa and South Asia dated to ~ 200 ka presents more convincing support for the latter model. Here we present contextual, chronological and technological analysis of Middle Palaeolithic assemblages dated to 52 ka from Motravulapadu, Andhra Pradesh, India. Morphometrical analysis of the lithic assemblage indicates diverse Levallois core reductions were practised at the site at the onset of MIS 3. Further this evidence highlights the significance of MIS 3 cultural diversity in South Asia, likely related to changing population dynamics, cultural drift, and the highly variable climatic context of MIS 3. Abstract

In the area of herbal medicine, this has led to a great deal of research and development. In the majority of industrialized and developing nations today, there is a rising need for herbal medicine. The most common form of liver disease varies by country and may be impacted by local factors. Infection with viruses and exposure to specific chemicals are two causes of liver diseases. Herbal medications have the potential to be an effective treatment for liver problems. An extensive review of the literature on hepatoprotective plants clearly shows that herbal medications have significant promise for the treatment of liver ailments. It is difficult to find effective treatments for common liver conditions such as cirrhosis, fatty liver, and chronic hepatitis. There aren't many therapeutic drugs that work well and rarely cause side effects. Few plants can effectively treat liver disorders, so there is a lot of interest in researching the many plant therapies that can help with liver diseases. As a result, we conclude that herbs are an important source of hepatoprotective and liver regeneration drugs. More study is needed, however, to identify, characterize, and standardize the active substances, beneficial compounds, and formulations for the treatment of liver illnesses. The availability of modern hepatoprotective medications with realistic clinical utility is still quite restricted, and the discovery of new compounds with similar potentials will undoubtedly encourage the drug discovery process. Abstract

The eruption of Toba ca. 75 ka was the largest volcanic eruptive event during the Quaternary, and evidence for this eruption is widespread in terrestrial sediment sequences in South Asia as primary and reworked distal ash deposits. Youngest Toba Tuff horizons (YTT) have been widely employed as isochrons to understand and link regional sediment sequences and the evidence for environmental and cultural change in the archaeological records preserved within them. We identify the YTT deposits at Retlapalle, Andhra Pradesh, India, and present the optical ages of the K-feldspar grains recovered from sediments immediately underlying and overlying the tephra horizon. We combine these results with particle size and magnetic susceptibility analyses to establish the depositional conditions of YTT, which indicate that accumulation and reworking ceased by ca. 64 ka. We explore the role of YTT deposits as an isochron for examining the effect of the 75 ka Toba super-eruption, highlighting the need for an independent chronological assessment of YTT before using it as a Late Pleistocene chronological marker in reconstructing South Asian paleo-landscapes and hominin adaptations. Further, our findings support the regional continuity of human occupations within South Asia, spanning the eruption of Toba and the enduring utility of Middle Paleolithic tools. Abstract

The rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 variants in the global population is indicative of the development of selective advantages in emerging virus strains. Here, we performed a case-control investigation of the clinical and demographic characteristics, clinical history, and virological markers to predict disease progression in hospitalized adults for COVID-19 between December 2021 and January 2022 in Chennai, India. COVID-19 diagnosis was made by a commercial TaqPath COVID-19 RT-PCR, and WGS was performed with the Ion Torrent Next Generation Sequencing System. High-quality (5% of N) complete sequences of 73 Omicron B.1.1.529 variants were randomly selected for phylogenetic analysis. SARS-CoV-2 viral load, number of comorbidities, and severe disease presentation were independently associated with a shorter time-to-death. Strikingly, this was observed among individuals infected with Omicron BA.2 but not among those with the BA.1.1.529, BA.1.1, or the Delta B.1.617.2 variants. Phylogenetic analysis revealed severe cases predominantly clustering under the BA.2 lineage. Sequence analyses showed 30 mutation sites in BA.1.1.529 and 33 in BA.1.1. The mutations unique to BA.2 were T19I, L24S, P25del, P26del, A27S, V213G, T376A, D405N and R408S. Low SARS-CoV-2 viral load among vaccinated individuals infected with Delta B.1.617.2 and the Omicron BA.1.1.529 variant but not with Omicron BA.1.1 or BA.2 suggests that the newer strains are largely immune escape variants. The number of vaccine doses received was independently associated with increased odds of developing asymptomatic disease or recovery. We propose that the novel mutations reported herein could likely bear a significant impact on the clinical characteristics, disease progression, and epidemiological aspects of COVID-19. Surging rates of mutations and the emergence of eclectic variants of SARS-CoV-2 appear to impact disease dynamics.

Abstract

Background: Pulses have been very curial in many aspects like; rich source of protein, economy aspect and contribute to agricultural and environmental sustainability. In this investigation an attempt has been made to evaluate the dynamics of area substitution between pulses and other crops, extent of spatial shift among pulses producing states and some policy measures have been suggested to stabilize the area under pulses across states. Methods: Secondary data on area of principal crops for the period 1966-2016 was used in this article. By computing quartile values, all states and groups of states were clubbed into four different quartiles for each decade. Area substitution among principal field crops including pulses has been analyzed using first order Markov transition probability matrix (TPM). Result: This TPM was further used to evaluate the mobility of membership status of states under pulses production. It was found that period 1986-2006 happened to be the golden period for area under pulses in India. Mean area under pulses had increased for first three decades and in the subsequent two decades mean area (quartile values) had declined substantially. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi dengan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan motorik anak usia 4-5 tahun di TK Bethany Happy Holy Kids Medan tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh anak usia 4-5 tahun 2017TK A Bethany Happy Holy Kids Medan sebanyak 32 anak, sekaligus menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional yaitu melihat hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi dengan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan motorik anak, dengan menggunakan metode kusioner (angket) dan pengukuran langsung.Adapun metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data dan teknik analisis data korelasi product moment.Dari perhitungan diperoleh hasil fhit> ftabel, hal ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang positif anatara pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi dengan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan motorik anka usia 4-5 tahun di TK Bethany Happy Holy Kids Medan.Perhitungan uji t menunjukana bahwa to lebih besar dari ttabel =2,042. Untuk pertumbuhan anak nilai thitung= 40,4 yaitu 40,4 > 2,042. Untuk perkembangan motorik anak nilai thitung= 18,173 yaitu 18,173 > 2,042, yakni “ terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi dengan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan motorik anak usia 4-5 tahun di TK Bethany Happy Holy Kids Medan”

49. Trailing Towards Self-Reliance in Pulses in India.

Abstract

Grain legumes are excellent sources of protein, dietary fibres, starch, micronutrients and vitamins particularly for economically poor section of population in India. The study is targeted to analyse the growth in area and production, demand, availability and trade of pulses in India and also to examine policy options for enhancing pulses production. Pulses reached an all-time high production level of 23.92 million tonnes in TE2018-19. Pulses production registered an annual increase of 3.84 per cent in nearly last two decades owing to the expanding area and better yield. Madhya Pradesh alone contributed about one-third (30.95%) of pulses production in India indicating a growth rate of 5.57 per cent. Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are sharing about 70 per cent of total pulses production in India. Chickpea, lentil and pigeon pea are greatly cultivated in these states having a dominant place in global production. Uttar Pradesh had indicated negative sign in pulses due to shifting of area towards wheat, paddy, oilseeds and sugarcane because of encouraging public policies and profitability. The chickpea area is mostly concentrated in central and southern region of India owing to evolution of short duration with tolerance of biotic and abiotic stresses. The net availability of pulses in India improved noticeably in recent years reaching to a level of 20.40 kg/year/capita as a result of higher internal production and large imports from North America, Russia, Australia, Myanmar and African nations. India imported one-fourth of total pulses production, mainly lentil, dry peas, pigeon pea, mung bean and urad bean to meet the rising demands of vegetarian population. India also exported Kabuli chickpea and organic pulses, a small portion of total production in Indian sub-continent, to African nations and Gulf countries. For sustainable and higher production in India, concerted research efforts are required for development of cultivars having biotic and abiotic resistance with suitability for different agro-ecologies with continued support for adoption of improved production and protection technologies from various crop development programmes to realize higher farm yield. The additional area under pulses needs to be explored by extending cultivation in rice fallow areas in the eastern and coastal states, replacement with low productive crops, intercropping and cultivation on farm. Besides, robust market mechanism, price deficiency payment mechanism, lower limit of hoarding, proper storage facilities and creation of buffer stock, lucrative MSP and value addition are also required for sustaining pulses production in India. The PPP model and formation of FPOs for pulses should be extended to harvest higher yield and to benefit resource-poor pulse growers by undertaking activities such as assembling, processing, retailing etc. and also through collective bargaining. The pulses should be included in TDPS, MDM and SNP programmes to address nutrient deficiency and better accessibility of pulses to the under privileged sections of population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Cytogenetically, out of 262 species, only three species of family Platystictidae has been reported worldwide. Present study has been undertaken to study chromosome complement and its characterization of more species of this family. Cytogenetic analyses of Protosticta sanguinostigma Fraser, 1992 and Protosticta uncata Fraser, 1931 of family Platystictidae, collected from Andretta, Himachal Pradesh, India have been carried out on the basis of conventional staining, C-banding and silver nitrate staining. Both the species possess n=13m as haploid chromosome number and X0-XX sex determining mechanism. One large bivalent is present in all the meiotic stages of P. sanguinostigma which is considered as the species specific character. Chromosome complement of both the species shows variation in distribution of C-bands and Nucleolar organizer regions (NORs). Cytologically, both the species have been described for the first time.
