This survey provides a comprehensive review of underwater cable detection and tracking literature, identifying key problem types and highlighting unique underwater challenges. It emphasizes the critical role of underwater cable detection in global communications and energy infrastructures, addressing complexities like low visibility and variable sea conditions. The analysis compares the efficacy of various models, particularly deep learning approaches like CNNs and Transformers, in adapting to underwater imagery challenges. A new roadmap for efficient cable detection and tracking systems is proposed, focusing on multimodal data integration and nonoptical detection methods. Importantly, the study includes performance evaluations of state‐of‐the‐art models on custom underwater datasets, offering practical insights. OBJECTIVE: Our aim in this study was to investigate the effect of Gallic acid (GA) on gingival tissue injury. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty rats were categorized into two groups. In the burn group, an excisional wound area was created by removing a 4 mm diameter flap from the left molar region in the mucoperiosteal region of the gingiva. In the Burn+gallic acid group, 1.2 mg/ml GA was administered as irrigation for 1 week. Animals were sacrificed under anesthesia at the end of experiment. Malondialdehyde (MDA), myeloperoxidase (MPO) and glutathione (GSH) levels were measured. Hematoxylin Eosin, fibroblast growth factor (FGF) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) immunostaining were applied to tissues. RESULTS: MDA and MPO levels increased, and GSH, epithelization, FGF and EGF expression levels were decreased. Gallic acid treatment improved these scores. Degenerated gingival epithelium, disintegrity in epithelial and connective tissue fibers, edema and inflammatory cells were observed in the burn group. Gallic acid treatment after burn improved the pathologies. After burn injury, FGF and EGF activity was increased in Gallic acid-treated groups. CONCLUSIONS: We suggest that GA has the potential for better healing outcomes in oral wounds. GA seems to have promising therapeutic efficacy in enhancing oral wound healing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Autoverification (AV) is releasing laboratory results using predefined rules. AV standardizes the verification of laboratory results, improves turnaround time (TAT), detects errors in the total test process, and enables effective use of laboratory staff. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the outcomes of implementing the AV in a tertiary hospital.

Summary: Background: Palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP) is a rare, chronic, inflammatory skin disease characterized by sterile pustules on palmar or plantar areas. Data on PPP are scarce. Aim: To investigate the clinical characteristics and risk factors for disease severity in a large cohort of Turkish patients with PPP. Methods: We conducted a cross‐sectional, multicentre study of patients with PPP recruited from 21 tertiary centres across Turkey. Results: In total, 263 patients (165 women, 98 men) were evaluated. Most patients (75.6%) were former or current smokers. The mean Palmoplantar Pustulosis Area and Severity Index (PPPASI) was 8.70 ± 8.06 and the mean Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) score was 6.87 ± 6.08, and these scores were significantly correlated (r = 0.52, P < 0.001). Regression analysis showed that current smoking was significantly associated with increased PPPASI (P = 0.03). Coexisting psoriasis vulgaris (PsV) was reported by 70 (26.6%) patients. Male sex prevalence, PPP onset incidence, disease duration, DLQI, and prevalence of nail involvement and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) were significantly increased among patients with PPP with PsV. Of the 263 patients, 18 (6.8%) had paradoxical PPP induced by biologic therapy, and these patients had significantly increased mean DLQI and prevalence of PsA (r = 0.03, P = 0.001). Conclusion: Our data suggest that smoking is a risk factor for both PPP development and disease severity. Patients with PPP with PsV present distinct clinical features and patients with biologic therapy‐induced paradoxical PPP have reduced quality of life and are more likely to have PsA. Objective: To determine whether QT dispersion (QTd), a noninvasive electrocardiographic parameter of ventricular tachyarrhythmia risk assessment, is changed by implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) shocks delivered during implantation process, to analyze the duration of these changes, and to further evaluate the effect of amiodarone on these parameters.Methods: Twenty-six consecutive patients who are scheduled to undergo ICD implantation for aborted sudden cardiac death or documented symptomatic sustained ventricular tachycardia were enrolled into the study. A simultaneous 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) was recorded after the ICD implantation just before starting the testing shock when the patients were under general anesthesia (baseline record) and at 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th minutes after the successful shocks. RR interval, QT interval, corrected QT interval (QTc), QTd, and corrected QTd (QTcd) were all measured and calculated on ECG.Results: At 1st minute after the successful shock, an abrupt increase (from 67.0 +/- 13.8 ms to 94.8+/-21 ms, P < 0.0001) was observed in QTcd, which was followed by a gradual return to the preshock values at 20th minute. Analysis of patients with and without long-term oral amiodarone treatment showed that in amiodarone-pretreated patients QTcd returned to the baseline value earlier than in patients without amiodarone treatment (15 minutes vs 20 minutes, respectively).Conclusions: ICD shocks cause an increase in QTcd lasting for up to 20th minute, which may predominate in some important clinical problems like electrical storm. Amiodarone, with the desirable effect on QTcd, may reduce the proarrhythmic effects of ICD shocks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, like ChatGPT, are gaining attention for their potential in supporting clinical decisions. This study evaluates the performance of ChatGPT-4o in acute cardiological cases compared to cardiologists and emergency physicians. Methods: Twenty acute cardiological scenarios were used to compare the responses of ChatGPT-4o, cardiologists, and emergency physicians in terms of accuracy, completeness, and response time. Statistical analyses included the Kruskal-Wallis H test and post hoc comparisons using the Mann-Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction. Results: ChatGPT-4o and cardiologists both achieved 100% correct response rates, while emergency physicians showed lower accuracy. ChatGPT-4o provided the fastest responses and obtained the highest accuracy and completeness scores. Statistically significant differences were found between ChatGPT-4o and emergency physicians ( p < 0.001), and between cardiologists and emergency physicians ( p < 0.001). A Cohen's kappa value of 0.92 indicated a high level of inter-rater agreement. Conclusions: ChatGPT-4o outperformed human clinicians in accuracy, completeness, and response time, highlighting its potential as a clinical decision support tool. However, human oversight remains essential to ensure safe AI integration in healthcare settings.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to obtain real-life data on the use of antimyeloma agents, which significantly increase overall survival (OS) in multiple myeloma (MM) patients, in primary plasma cell leukemia (pPCL) patients with poor prognosis., Materials and Methods: Data from 53 patients who were diagnosed with pPCL between 2011 and 2020 and who used at least one proteasome inhibitor (PI) and/or immunomodulatory (IMID) agent were analyzed retrospectively. Depending on the year of the pPCL diagnosis, 20% leukocytes or ≥2x10 9 /L plasma cells in the peripheral blood was used as a diagnostic criterion., Results: The median age of the patients was 58 years and 23 (43.4%) patients were over 65 years of age. For first-line treatment, PI or IMID alone was used by 31 (58.5%) patients, and PI and IMID were used simultaneously by 15 (28.3%) patients. Additionally, 21 (39.6%) patients received transplantation and 13 (24.5%) patients received maintenance treatment. The median progression-free survival was 4 (range: 1-42) months. When patients whose primary disease was refractory to first-line therapy were excluded, the duration of treatment was 6.5 months. The median OS was 15 months with a median follow-up duration of 15 months. Only 7 (13.2%) of the patients were alive at the last follow-up visit. Those with higher β2-microglobulin levels and International Staging System stage 3 and non-transplant patients receiving first-line treatment had shorter OS (p=0.005, p=0.02, and p=0.008, respectively). The concomitant use of PIs and IMIDs, the addition of chemotherapy to induction therapy, and the response to induction therapy or maintenance therapy did not affect OS., Conclusion: In this study, as in previous similar studies, we could not see an increased survival trend in pPCL, which is observed in MM. Introduction: Many chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) patients have highly stressful life events and exhibit psychiatric comorbidities. Emotional stress can cause or exacerbate urticaria symptoms by causing mast cell degranulation via neuromediators., Objectives: To investigate the frequency of stressful life events and compare psychiatric comorbidities and serum neuromediator levels in patients with CSU who responded to omalizumab with healthy controls., Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we included 42 patients with CSU who received at least 6 months of omalizumab treatment and a control group of 42 healthy controls. Stressful life events were evaluated with the Life Events Checklist for DSM-5 (LEC-5). The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-42 (DASS-42) was used to evaluate depression, anxiety and stress levels. Serum nerve growth factor (NGF), calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and substance P (SP) levels were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique., Results: Twenty-six (62%) patients reported at least one stressful life event a median of 3.5 months before the onset of CSU. There were no significant differences in all three variables in the DASS subscales between the patient and control groups. Serum NGF levels were found to be significantly lower in patients with CSU (p <0.001), whereas CGRP levels were found to be significantly higher (p <0.001). There was no significant difference for SP., Conclusions: The psychological status of patients with CSU who benefited from omalizumab was similar to that of healthy controls. After burn injury, FGF and EGF activity was increased in EA treated groups., Conclusions: We suggest that EA have the potential for better healing outcomes in oral wounds. This multicentre (22 centres in Turkey) retrospective cohort study aimed to assess the clinical outcomes of patients with neutropenic fever and SARS-CoV-2 positivity. Study period was 15 March 2020-15 August 2021. A total of 170 cases (58 female, aged 59 ± 15.5 years) that fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included in the study. One-month mortality rate (OMM) was 44.8%. The logistic regression analysis showed the following significant variables for the mentioned dependent variables: (i) achieving PCR negativity: receiving a maximum of 5 days of favipiravir (p = 0.005, OR 5.166, 95% CI 1.639-16.280); (ii) need for ICU: receiving glycopeptide therapy at any time during the COVID-19/FEN episode (p = 0.001, OR 6.566, 95% CI 2.137-20.172), the need for mechanical ventilation (p < 0.001, OR 62.042, 95% CI 9.528-404.011); (iii) need for mechanical ventilation: failure to recover from neutropenia (p < 0.001, OR 17.869, 95% CI 3.592-88.907), receiving tocilizumab therapy (p = 0.028, OR 32.227, 95% CI 1.469-707.053), septic shock (p = 0.001, OR 15.4 96% CI 3.164-75.897), and the need for ICU (p < 0.001, OR 91.818, 95% CI 15.360-548.873), (iv) OMM: [mechanical ventilation (p = 0.001, OR 19.041, 95% CI 3.229-112.286) and septic shock (p = 0.010, OR 5.589,95% CI 1.509-20.700)]. Background: A promising recent strategy for haploidentical transplantation is the depletion of T lymphocytes based on the selective elimination of T cells by manipulation, which enables a very low incidence of nonrelapse mortality and graft-vs-host disease. It is more expensive than conventional unmanipulated methods and requires dedicated transplant centers and sufficient stem cell processing facilities. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the relapse, survival, and clinical data of the patients and to analyze the outcomes of the technique., Methods: The study included 56 adult patients who underwent haploidentical stem cell transplantation via αβ T-cell depletion., Results: The median age of the patients at the time of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation was 41.5 years (range, 20-70 years); 22 patients (39.3%) were women. After the transplantation, half of the patients (50.0%) needed immunosuppressive drugs, and 17.9% of the patients experienced a post-transplant relapse. The mortality rate was 55.4%, and nonrelapse mortality was 25.0%. The 100-day mortality rate was 19.6%. The median overall days was 1101 days (142-3813 days), whereas the median progression-free overall was 302.5 days (11-2479 days). Being older (age >40), having hypertension, having acute liver graft-vs-host disease, and having systemic fungal infection were found as risk factors that significantly increased mortality (with 3.5-, 2.8-, 3.7-, and 2.7-fold increases, respectively)., Conclusion: To conclude, T-cell-depleted hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is an effective and reliable technique that has the potential to decrease morbidity and improve relapse-free survival, especially for young patients requiring haploidentical donor transplantation for hematologic malignancy., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier Inc. Background: A rapid and reliable diagnostic test is needed to reduce mortality through early diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis (IA) in patients with hematological malignancies., Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of serum and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) Aspergillus galactomannan lateral flow assay (GM-LFA) in IA diagnosis and determine the correlation of GM-LFA with GM enzyme immunoassay (GM-EIA) in patients with hematological malignancies., Methods: In this prospective multicenter study, we used serum and BAL fluid samples from patients with hematological malignancies and suspected IA and performed GM-LFA and GM-EIA. According to the EORTC/MSGERC criteria, patients were grouped as proven (n = 6), probable (n = 22), possible IA (n = 55), or no IA (n = 88). The performance of serum GM-LFA at 0.5 optical density index (ODI) and area under the curve (AUC) were calculated. Spearman's correlation analysis and kappa statistics were performed to determine the agreement between the tests., Results: GM-LFA showed an AUC of 0.832 in proven/probable IA (sensitivity [SEN], specificity [SPE], negative predictive value [NPV], and diagnostic accuracy were 75%, 100%, 92.6%, and 93.9%, respectively, at a 0.5 ODI) versus that in no IA. A moderate positive correlation was noted between the GM-LFA and GM-EIA scores (p = 0.01). The observed agreement between the tests at 0.5 ODI was almost perfect (p < 0.001). After excluding patients who received mold-active antifungal prophylaxis or treatment, the SEN, SPE, NPV, and diagnostic accuracy for proven/probable IA were 76.2%, 100%, 93.3%, and 94.5%, respectively., Conclusions: Serum GM-LFA demonstrated high discriminatory power and good diagnostic performance for IA in patients with hematological malignancies., (© 2023. Glofitamab is a CD3xCD20 bi-specific antibody with two fragments directed to the CD20 antigen and a single CD3-binding fragment. Encouraging response and survival rates were recently reported in a pivotal phase II expansion trial conducted in patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) B-cell lymphoma. However, the real-world data of patients of all ages with no strict selection criteria are still lacking. Herein, this retrospective study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients who received glofitamab via compassionate use in Turkey. Forty-three patients from 20 centers who received at least one dose of the treatment were included in this study. The median age was 54 years. The median number of previous therapies was 4, and 23 patients were refractory to first-line treatment. Twenty patients had previously undergone autologous stem cell transplantation. The median follow-up time was 5.7 months. In efficacy-evaluable patients, 21% and 16% of them achieved complete response and partial response, respectively. The median response duration was 6.3 months. The median progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) was 3.3 and 8.8 months, respectively. None of the treatment-responsive patients progressed during the study period, and their estimated 1-year PFS and OS rate was 83%. The most frequently reported toxicity was hematological toxicity. Sixteen patients survived, while 27 died at the time of the analysis. The most common cause of death was disease progression. One patient died of cytokine release syndrome during the first cycle after receiving the first dose of glofitamab. Meanwhile, two patients died due to glofitamab-related febrile neutropenia. This is the largest real-world study on the effectiveness and toxicity of glofitamab treatment in R/R DLBCL patients. The median OS of 9 months seems promising in this heavily pretreated group. Graft versus host disease (GvHD) remains a significant risk for mortality and morbidity following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). A growing literature supports successful applications of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) for the treatment of steroid-refractory acute GvHD (aGvHD). However, there is limited knowledge about the effects of MSC treatment on late-acute GvHD (late aGvHD). In this article, we present our multicenter study on the safety and efficacy of MSC therapy for patients with steroid-refractory late aGvHD in comparison to those with aGvHD. The outcome measures include non-relapse mortality (NRM) and survival probability over a 2-year follow-up. The study includes a total of 76 patients with grades III-IV aGvHD (n = 46) or late aGvHD (n = 30), who had been treated with at least two lines of steroid-containing immunosuppressive therapy. Patients received weekly adipose or umbilical cord-derived MSC infusions at a dose of median 1.55 (ranging from 0.84 to 2.56) × 10 6 /kg in the aGvHD group, and 1.64 (ranging from 0.85 to 2.58) × 10 6 /kg in the late aGvHD group. This was an add-on treatment to ongoing conventional pharmaceutical management. In the aGvHD group, 23 patients received one or two infusions, 20 patients had 3-4, and three had ≥ 5. Likewise, in the late aGvHD group, 20 patients received one or two infusions, nine patients had 3-4, and one had ≥ 5. MSC was safe without acute or late adverse effects in 76 patients receiving over 190 infusions. In aGvHD group, 10.9% of the patients had a complete response (CR), 23.9% had a partial response (PR), and 65.2% had no response (NR). On the other hand, in the late aGvHD group, 23.3% of the patients had CR, 36.7% had PR, and the remaining 40% had NR. These findings were statistically significant (p = 0.031). Also, at the 2-year follow-up, the cumulative incidence of NRM was significantly lower in patients with late aGvHD than in patients with aGvHD at 40% (95% CI, 25-62%) versus 71% (95% CI, 59-86%), respectively (p = 0.032). In addition, the probability of survival at 2 years was significantly higher in patients with late aGvHD than in the aGvHD group at 59% (95% CI, 37-74%) versus 28% (95% CI, 13-40%), respectively (p = 0.002). To our knowledge, our study is the first to compare the safety and efficacy of MSC infusion(s) for the treatment of steroid-resistant late aGVHD and aGVHD. There were no infusion-related adverse effects in either group. The response rate to MSC therapy was significantly higher in the late aGvHD group than in the aGvHD group. In addition, at the 2-year follow-up, the survival and NRM rates were more favorable in patients with late aGVHD than in those with aGVHD. Background and Objectives: Gilteritinib (XOSPATA®, Astellas) is a type I oral FLT3 inhibitor, a tyrosine kinase AXL inhibitor, involved in both c-Kit and FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) resistance. In the phase 3 ADMIRAL trial, gilteritinib was compared with the standard of care in (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients who harbored any FLT3 mutation and showed superior efficacy with regard to response and survival., Objectives: This research aimed to investigate the real-life efficacy and safety of gilteritinib in FLT3-positive R/R AML patients who were treated as a part of an early access program held in Turkey in April 2020 (NCT03409081)., Results: The research included 17 R/R AML patients who had received gilteritinib from seven centers. The overall response rate was 100%. The most common adverse events were anemia and hypokalemia (7 patients, 41.2%). Grade 4 thrombocytopenia was observed in one patient only (5.9%), leading to permanent treatment discontinuation. Patients with peripheral edema had a 10.47 (95% CI: 1.64-66.82) times higher risk of death than those without peripheral edema (p<0.05)., Conclusion: This research showed that patients with febrile neutropenia and peripheral edema were at a high risk of death when compared to patients without febrile neutropenia and peripheral edema., Competing Interests: Competing interests: The authors declare no conflict of Interest.

Contamination of agricultural products with pesticide residues is a growing concern due to their adverse health effects and increasing worldwide usage of pesticides. In 2021 a total of 200 samples of green leafy vegetables, including 80 dill, 80 rocket and 40 parsley, purchased from greengrocer shops, markets and bazaars in Corum Province, Turkey, were monitored for pesticide residues. In green leafy vegetables, 363 pesticides were analyzed using a quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) sample preparation, followed by liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for 311 residues and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) for 52 residues. The method was in-house validated at two fortification levels, and satisfactory recoveries and precisions were achieved for all residues. No quantifiable residues were found in 35% of the samples, whereas 43 residues belonging to 24 different chemical classes were detected in 130 green leafy vegetables. Among the green leafy vegetables, the highest occurrence frequency was recorded in the rocket, followed by dill and parsley. In 46% of the green leafy vegetables, the residue levels exceeded European Union Maximum Residue Levels (EU MRLs). The most frequently detected pesticides were pendimethalin (22.5%), diuron (38.7%) and pymetrozine (52.5%) in dill, rocket and parsley, respectively.

Polatuzumab vedotin (Pola) with bendamustine and rituximab (BR) is a promising option for patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We analyzed the data of 71 R/R DLBCL patients who had been treated with Pola-BR in the named patient program from March 2018 to April 2021 from 32 centers in Turkey. All patients received up to six cycles of Pola 1.8 mg/kg, rituximab 375 mg/m 2 on day 1, and bendamustine 90 mg/m 2 on days 1-2 of each cycle. Median age at Pola-BR initiation was 55 (19-84). The overall response rate was 47.9%, including 32.4% CR rate when a median of 3 cycles was applied. With a median follow-up of 5 months, the median OS was 5 months. Grade 3-4 neutropenia and thrombocytopenia were the most common hematological toxicities. Background: Conditioning regimens with high-dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) are the mainstays of treatment in lymphoma patients. Although the most frequently used conditioning regimen is the BEAM regimen (Carmustine, Etoposide, Cytarabine, and Melphalan), and alternatives are also used in certain circumstances. The TEAM regimen (carmustine is substituted by the alkylating agent thiotepa) is one of these alternatives; however, data regarding the comparisons of efficacy and safety profiles of these 2 regimens is scarce. This study compared the outcomes of patients who received conditioning regimens with BEAM and TEAM and underwent an ASCT., Methods: This study was conducted as a retrospective assessment of 294 patient outcomes in terms of efficacy and safety. Adult patients with lymphoma diagnosis who received BEAM or TEAM conditioning regimens and underwent an ASCT between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2019 were included in the analyses., Results: A total of 294 patients (median age at ASCT: 50 years, males: 60.5%, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma: 35%) were included. Eighty patients (27.2%) received the TEAM regimen, and 214 (72.8%) received the BEAM regimen. Regarding safety profiles, the thrombocyte engraftment time was significantly higher in the TEAM group (P = .003) and fever of unknown etiology was significantly higher in the BEAM group (P = .042). Also, nausea was more in the TEAM group (P = .031). The complete remission rate was 57.5% and 70.3% in the TEAM and BEAM regimens, respectively. The overall mortality rate was 37.3% and not significantly different between the groups (43% and 35% in the TEAM and BEAM groups, P = .22) over a similar median follow-up of 1667 days (P = .28). The 3-year survival rate was 66% and 67% and the 5-year survival rate was 52% and 58% in the TEAM and BEAM regimens, respectively, without significant difference., Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the few studies in the literature that compared the TEAM and BEAM as conditioning regimens for ASCT in lymphoma patients. The 2 regimens may provide similar overall survival outcomes and have a comparable safety profile. Typhlitis is a special type of enterocolitis that specifically develops in immunosuppressive patients with hematological malignancies. Typhlitis is a common consideration after bone marrow transplantation due to high-dose chemotherapy that is used in conditioning regimens those contain high-dose cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents. Although there are several studies about typhlitis during chemotherapy or in leukemia patients, there is not enough data evaluating its relationship between stem cell transplant in adults. Therefore, the current study aimed to analyze the possible causes that may lead to the development of typhlitis in hematopoietic stem cell recipient patients. This retrospective study included 210 adult patients who underwent bone marrow transplantation between January 2017 and December 2019. Pediatric patients (patients younger than 18 years of age) were excluded. Patients' data were evaluated to determine their effects on typhlitis and the mortality risk of the patients with typhlitis. The analysis of the variables was performed using the IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows version 26 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY).Variables were analyzed at a 95% confidence level and a P value <0.05 was considered significant. Typhlitis developed in 23 (10.9%) transplant patients. Male sex, length of hospital stay, presence of febrile neutropenia, antibiotic and antifungal use, need for switching antibiotics, duration of neutropenia, diarrhea and antibiotic use in days were risk factors for development of typhlitis. It was observed that 100-days mortality was higher in typhlitis group reaching to a statistical significance (P < .05). In multiple logistic regression analysis, presence of mucositis and additional source of infection were determined as independent risk factors for the development of typhlitis in bone marrow transplant patients. This study provides valuable information for bone marrow transplant patients through an analysis of risk factors for the development of typhlitis. According to our results, mucositis and additional bacterial infections were found as risk factors for typhlitis therefore it would be beneficial for clinicians to consider these factors in patient follow-up. Background: Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare and severe inflammatory disease characterized by widespread and superficial sterile pustules on an erythematous background., Objectives: This multicentre study aimed to determine the clinical profile and course in a large cohort of patients with GPP., Methods: One hundred and fifty-six GPP patients (mean age, 44.2 ± 18.7 years) who met the diagnostic criteria of the European Consensus Report of GPP were included in the study. Sociodemographic characteristics, quality of life, triggering factors of the disease, clinical, laboratory, treatment and prognostic features were evaluated., Results: 61.5% of the patients were female. The rate of working at or below the minimum wage (≤$332.5/month) was 44.9%. Drugs (36.5%) were the most common trigger. While hypocalcaemia (35.7%) was the most important cause of GPP during pregnancy, systemic steroid withdrawal (20%) was the most frequently reported trigger for infantile/juvenile and mixed-type GPP (15%) (P < 0.05). Acute GPP (53.8%) was the most common clinic. Nails were affected in 43.6% of patients, and subungual yellow spots (28.2%) were the most common change. In annular GPP, fever (P < 0.001) and relapse frequency (P = 0.006) were lower than other subtypes, and the number of hospitalizations (P = 0.002) was lower than acute GPP. GPP appeared at a later age in those with a history of psoriasis (P = 0.045). DLQI score (P = 0.049) and joint involvement (P = 0.016) were also higher in this group. Infantile/juvenile GPP was observed in 16.02% of all patients, and arthritis was lower in this group (24.4 vs. 16%). GPP of pregnancy had the worst prognosis due to abortion observed in three patients., Conclusions: Recent advances in treatment have improved mortality associated with GPP, but abortion remains a significant complication. Although TNF-α inhibitors have proven efficacy in GPP, they can also trigger the disease. Introduction: The outbreak of novel coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2), which causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), is the most important current health problem. The number of patients is increasing worldwide. Pneumonia is the most life-threatening complication of the disease. Prolonged viral shedding in hematological patients with COVID-19 has been demonstrated; however, data on COVID-19 patients receiving anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody therapy are limited. Accordingly, focusing on humoral immunity, herein, we present 4 COVID-19 patients who were on anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody treatment and had prolonged pneumonia., Patient Concerns: Two of 4 patients were on rituximab and the other 2 were on obinutuzumab therapy., Diagnosis: The polymerase chain reaction test results for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 were positive for all 4 patients and their COVID pneumonia lasted for >50 days., Interventions: Although all patients were treated with an adequate amount of convalescent plasma, prolonged polymerase chain reaction positivity and prolonged pneumonia were possibly due to the lack of ability of the immune system to initiate its antibody response., Outcomes: Despite the administration of standard therapies, recurrent pneumonia observed in the present case series of non-neutropenic patients, in whom primary malignancies were under control., Conclusions: It is suggested that further investigations should be performed to understand the underlying pathophysiology., Competing Interests: The authors have no funding and conflicts of interest to disclose., (Copyright © 2021 the Author(s).
