This study examines ethical misconduct of 193 business students in four universities in the United States. In addition to self-reported ethical behavior, two dimensions of emotional intelligence (self-emotions appraisal and others emotions appraisal) significantly impacted student misconduct. None of the other dimensions of emotional intelligence were significant. Grade Point Average (GPA), religiosity, non-business ethics course, sex, graduate status, university, and over claiming did not impact student misconduct. Implications of the results of the study for business schools and industry professionals are discussed.

Business schools have come under a lot of criticism recently for not adequately teaching their students how to apply ethical principles in the workplace. This study investigates the impact of individual ethical values and perceptions of ethical conduct on counterproductive behavior of students (n = 217) of a public university in the United States. Caring value, perception of ethical conduct, and age had a significant impact on counterproductive behavior of students. Principled value, instrumental value, business major, sex, and GPA did not have an impact on counterproductive behavior of students. Implications of the results of the study for business schools and industry professionals are discussed. In recent years, the automakers have been forcing their suppliers (automotive parts manufacturers) to provide better quality products at competitive prices. To meet the challenge, the suppliers are outsourcing their business processes to either domestic or foreign suppliers. A survey of 160 CEO's/Presidents of automotive parts manufacturers in the North America was conducted to examine the effects of outsourcing strategy on the financial well-being of a firm. This study finds that the outsourcing strategy is widely used, and it is contributing positively to a supplier's financial performance. We analyze factors affecting the outcomes of union certification elections in hospitals during the period October 1985-September 1992. Our results show that the 1991 Supreme Court decision (AHA v. NLRB) negatively affected union win rates. Union support is higher in non-Southern states and in multiple union elections. The ratio of bargaining unit size to hospital size negatively influenced union success, a finding that contrasts with past research which has argued that absolute bargaining unit size is a primary determinant of election outcomes. Union support is lower in elections with high voter turnout and when only AFL-CIO-affiliated unions or the Teamsters are on the ballot. Months from filing to election significantly influenced union success. Unlike past studies, we find that hospital-specific factors, such as profit orientation, occupancy rate, and affiliation, did not influence union success. Policy implications for hospital administrators and union organizers are discussed.
