This study aimed to examine the effects of capital structure on the financial performance of Ethiopian commercial banks. The dependent variable, financial performance, is measured by Return on Assets (ROA), while factors such as loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR), asset-to-total equity ratio (ATER), total deposit-to-total asset ratio (TDTAR), capital adequacy ratio (CAD), and asset growth ratio (GA) were used as proxy independent variables to gauge capital structure. Using a quantitative approach and an explanatory research design, this study analyzes 6 years of audited financial reports from 14 commercial banks in Ethiopia. This investigation employs a random effect regression model and Stata 14 software package to explore the relationships among these variables. The result revealed that both the loan-to-deposit ratio and the total deposit-to-total asset ratio have a positive and significant impact on financial performance, while the asset growth ratio showed a negative effect. Based on these findings, this study recommends that bank authorities concentrate on bolstering their deposit base, managing asset growth efficiently, maintaining adequate capital levels, and optimizing leverage levels to improve financial performance and ensure long-term sustainability in the banking sector. Additionally, this research is anticipated to inform policymakers about regulatory frameworks for banks and assist banking managers in formulating effective capital financing strategies within the Ethiopian commercial banking sector, thus enriching the existing literature on the relationship between capital structure and financial performance. The study aims to investigate the factors that contribute to credit risk in Ethiopian commercial banks, considering both macroeconomic and bank-specific factors. The research utilized multiple regression models, a quantitative research approach, and explanatory research designs. A purposive sample technique was used to select 10 commercial banks for the study, and secondary data from audited financial reports were analyzed. The findings of the study reveal a significant positive relationship between credit risk and several variables, including bank size, profitability, efficiency, capital adequacy, and inflation. Conversely, there is an inverse relationship between credit risk and both loan growth and currency rates. Surprisingly, the study found that neither GDP nor interest rates have a significant impact on credit risk. Based on these findings, the study provides recommendations for Ethiopian commercial banks. It suggests maintaining adequate levels of capital, avoiding business in sectors influenced by inflationary pressures, carefully evaluating non-interest income, and adjusting lending policies as necessary. Furthermore, the study advises periodically examining the relationships between GDP growth, interest rates, and credit risk. Insurance companies are responding to the global challenge of climate change by introducing green insurance policies, which aim to promote sustainable projects across the globe. These policies offer financial protection and coverage for initiatives related to renewable energy, energy efficiency and other sustainable endeavors. Moreover, they incentivize investment in these projects by providing lower premiums or other financial benefits. In order to assess the impact of green insurance policies on driving investment in sustainable projects in developing countries, this study employed a systematic and bibliometric approach to thoroughly analyze the various forms, instruments, and measurements of green insurance. The study used 490 documents extracted from different databases. The search strategy involved using specific keywords to query the Web of Science, Scopus, science direct, and google scholar databases. A purposive sampling technique was implemented for data inclusion and exclusion. The study's findings indicate that the success of green insurance in developing countries faces several challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, limited awareness and education among individuals and businesses, absence of supportive regulatory frameworks and policies, insufficient demand, political instability, corruption and security concerns. Furthermore, the study finding reveals a need for more research, specifically exploring the effects of green insurance on investment in sustainable development. Hence future studies can use this finding as a benchmark for further studies. The study's novelty lies in its comprehensive analysis of green insurance policies and their impact on driving investment in sustainable projects in developing countries. Based on the findings, the study recommends that insurance companies offer incentives to investors involved in sustainable projects, such as employing premium shifting strategies that minimize premiums for nonenvironmentally sustainable projects and redirect those funds toward sustainable initiatives.
