Methods and standards of accelerated catalyst testing were dealt with in four sub-workshops which focussed on the following subjects: Principles of accelerated testing (M. Baerns and C. Mirodatos) Instrumental tools of accelerated testing and effluent analysis (T. Maschmeyer) Reaction engineering fundamentals of accelerated testing (L. Petrov and C. de Bellefon) Co-operation between academia and industry in testing of catalytic materials (C. Flego) In the sub-workshops which were chaired by the above mentioned scientists the essential issues related to the various subjects were identified and conclusions were drawn on the state of the art and future work to be done to advance the respective fields. Finally, the results of the sub-workshops were summarised and discussed in the plenum of the Advanced Study Institute. It is noteworthy to mention that not only development of heterogeneous but also homogeneous catalysts served as a reference in the discussions.

Various general and specific chemical or spectroscopic methods were analyzed as reliable or uncertain methods to monitor the incorporation of elements other than Silicon and Aluminium in Molecular Sieve Framework.

The catalytic properties of zeolite framework elements and those of zeolite hosted cations, complexes or oxide particles are reviewed.
