Abstract

Introduction: The Hayabusa2 spacecraft is surveying asteroid Ryugu from June 2018. Global observation by thermal infrared imager TIR revealed low thermal inertia around 200-300J m-2 K-1 s-0.5 [1]. The expected grain size from this thermal inertia was several centimeters [2]. However, the surface of Ryugu is globally filled with larger boulders [3]. These observational results indicate highly porous nature of the surface boulders with low thermal inertia, unexpectedly different from the carbonaceous meteorites we have. Local observations by MARA radiometer onboard MASCOT lander supported it [4, 5]. In addition to the global observation, close-up imaging by TIR during descending operations, including MINERVA and MASCOT releases, touch-down operations and their rehearsals, were conducted. The high resolution TIR images revealed local temperature anomaly related to the boulders [6] and craters, which showed local variation in thermophysical properties.In this study, we show survey of thermally-unusual craters on Ryugu using these close-up images. The unique feature were found as hot spot around the center of some small craters.

Abstract

33rd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 700-702, A nanometer size point contact property using P+Si nanoparticle(P+SiNP) embedded SiO2 has been investigated. The SiO2 was formed from the Perhydropolysilazane (PHPS), which is an inorganic liquid source of SiO2, showing good passivation property on Si with the combination of the hot steam annealing. The P+SiNP embedded SiO2 layer was coated on an n-type silicon substrate by spin coat, followed by the hot steam annealing at 600°C. The Au/(P+SiNPs/SiO2)/Nsilicon hetero junction diode property was evaluated. The diode showed clear rectifying property with very low reverse current. A forward bias current increased by illumination, showing no memory effect between photo/dark conditions. This property can be explained by a combination of nano-size point contact and the field effect of MOS structure surrounding the contact. Electrons accumulate at the silicon surface under forward bias, forming an n+p+ tunnel point contact. The whole surface area becomes depression state under the reverse bias condition, showing very low reverse current.

After spin coating deposition, NP embedded SiO2 layers were obtained using a hot steam annealing at 600C. The p+SiNPs embedded SiO2/Si(n) hetero structure showed rectifying property. A forward bias current under illumination was lower than the dark, indicating a memory effect, which can be explained by hole trap of floating Si NPs in the SiO2 film. Using this property, selective contact was tested using the combination of p+ Si NP and Ag particle. An Ag particle embedded SiO2 was an ohmic contact. On the other hand, the SiO2 film including both p+Si NPs and Ag particle showed rectifying property with no memory effect. In addition forward bias current increased by illumination.

Abstract

Although adrenal gland is one of the major target organs of angiotensin II (Ang II), the pathophysiological significance of the its receptor subtype has not been elucidated. We demonstrated by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction with Southern blot analysis mRNA expression of both AT1 and AT2 in human adrenal tissues of normal adrenocortical tissues, aldosterone-producing adenoma, Cushing's syndrome, and pheochromocytoma. Ang II-induced aldosterone secretion in vitro was suppressed only by 50% in the presence of selective AT1 antagonist CV-11974, while AT2 agonist CGP-42112 increased aldosterone secretion by 55% over the control. Ang II or CGP-42112 did not affect cortisol secretion. In addition, Ang II could stimulate aldosterone secretion in AT1a knockout mice both in the presence and absence of CV-11974. These results suggest that non-AT1 receptor subtype(s) including AT2, as well as AT1, is involved in the stimulation of aldosterone secretion from human adrenals.

Abstract

The structure of rat and mouse growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF) peptide and precursor shows considerable divergence from that of the human counterpart and also within rodents themselves. To study such structural divergence in another rodent, we cloned a cDNA encoding the GRF precursor from golden hamster. The hamster GRF (haGRF) cDNA clone had an open-reading frame that predicts a haGRF precursor protein with 107 amino acids. The haGRF precursor bore greater overall homology (82%) to the human than the same rodent homologue (58-64%) and contained two processing sites identical to the human sequence that would generate mature haGRF peptide. Furthermore, the haGRF peptide, like human but unlike rat or mouse GRF, consisted of 44 amino acids and also had greater homology to the human (89%) than the rodent sequence (64-75%), conserving a Tyr residue at the N-terminus and an amidated Leu residue at the C-terminus. Thus, both haGRF precursor and peptide are structurally more related to those of human than of other rodents, suggesting that rodent GRF precursor diverged from the human sequence at differential rates within the species.

32. Effect of antiserum to rat growth hormone (GH)-releasing factor on physiological GH secretion in the female rat

Abstract

To further study the physiological role of GH- releasing factor (GRF), we examined the effect of antiserum to rat hypothalamic GRF on spontaneous GH secretion in the normal female rat. Two groups of six conscious female rats were passively immunized with either nonimmune rabbit serum (NRS) or antirat GRF serum via a chronic indwelling atrial catheter. The secretory profiles of GH were observed by collect- ing blood samples at 15-min intervals for 1 h before and 4 h after administration. The NRS-treated rats showed a character- istic female pattern of spontaneous GH secretion. GH pulses were of low amplitude (mean ± SEM, 26.8 ± 2.4 ng/ml) and occurred irregularly at a frequency of 4.2 ± 0.2/5 h, while interpeak trough levels of GH were relatively high, with nadir values of 8.6 ±0.7 ng/ml. Synthetic rat GRF, given iv at a dose of 1 Mg/kg BW after the last blood sampling, stimulated GH release to a peak level of 153 ± 37 ng/ml in the control rats. Administration of GRF antiserum caused a profound suppres- sion of both pulse and trough components of GH secretion. This effect occurred rapidly, within 15 min after injection of anti- serum, and GH secretion decreased uniformly to very low levels (3.4 ± 0.1 ng/ml), with little or no fluctuation throughout the observation period. GRF antiserum also abolished the synthetic rat GRF-induced GH release, indicating sufficient potency of immunoneutralization. These results demonstrate that both GH pulses and troughs are dependent upon hypothalamic GRF in normal female rats, thereby substantiating earlier observations in male rats which demonstrated the physiological role of GRF in GH secretion.
