Neutral Ag(III) complexes stabilised with just monodentate ligands are here unambiguously established. In a series of square-planar (CF3)3Ag(L) compounds with hard and soft Group 15 donor ligands, L, the metal center has been found to exhibit substantial acidity favouring apical coordination of an additional ligand under no coordination constraints.

Yosemite National Park is a major natural asset of the USA and attracts millions of visitors each year. Its geology and geomorphology make it particularly susceptible to rockfalls, with tens of kilometers of granite cliffs up to 1000 m in height. Between 2010 and 2020, 640 rockfalls were recorded; almost half of these caused damage to the road network somewhere within the park. Approximately 300 rockfalls affected the Merced River corridor, which contains the El Portal Road, the entranceway preferred by about 30% of the visitors. In addition to causing road damage and temporary road closures, rockfalls have also caused fatalities along roadways. Because National Park policies generally preclude mitigations on natural slopes, rockfall risks along roads are mitigated through traffic management practices based on the evaluation of local hazard conditions. Due to the widespread occurrence of rockfalls and the variability of geological conditions, implementing these practices remains challenging and requires a distributed yet accurate quantitative rockfall analysis approach. We performed high-resolution 3D rockfall simulations using the Hy-Stone rockfall runout model over an area about 18 km2 in size that contributes to rockfall hazards along two sections of roadway within the park, including the El Portal Road.We set up our models using existing datasets (1m LiDAR DEM, canopy height, geological and vegetation maps), a database of Yosemite rockfall events (1857-2020), and new field surveys of infrastructure, rockfall paths and deposits, and visible damage caused by previous rockfalls. We identified rockfall sources using a morphometric approach refined by mapping rockfall evidence and additional unstable areas. Sources were classified into “cliff” and “roadcut” (engineered) categories. We mapped Quaternary deposits at the scale of consideration, reclassified vegetation types in categories relevant to rockfall interactions, and produced a unique condition map for model parametrization.We calibrated Hy-Stone parameters (initial velocity, impact restitution, and rolling friction coefficients) by the back analysis of occurred rockfalls, for which field-based evidence was collected by NPS and USGS. We used post-event aerial pictures of the 2017 Parkline rockfall to map the location and size of 4700 blocks, producing a reference block size distribution for the simulations. Model parameters were calibrated by optimizing the fit between simulated and observed arrest locations and volumes.We performed forward simulations over the study area considering “cliff” rockfall sources and two different block volume scenarios: a) realistic, stochastically variable volumes; b) worst-case, constant volume (100 m3). An additional simulation considered roadcut sources with variable block volumes. Results were extracted as raster maps of block frequency, velocity, energy, and height and validated against the historical and field databases, making it possible to perform a quantitative evaluation of rockfall susceptibility using the Rockfall Hazard Vector (RHV) method.Our models combine robust 3D simulations with detailed field data, allowing the characterization of rockfall susceptibility over a large area with the spatial accuracy typical of site-specific studies. This provides robust inputs to quantitative risk analysis that will allow optimizing risk management and granting safer access to the park.

We present the B-BOP instrument, a polarimetric camera on board the future ESA-JAXA SPICA far-infrared space observatory. B-BOP will allow the study of the magnetic field in various astrophysical environments thanks to its unprecedented ability to measure the linear polarization of the submillimeter light. The maps produced by B-BOP will contain not only information on total power, but also on the degree and the angle of polarization, simultaneously in three spectral bands (70, 200 and 350 microns). The B-BOP detectors are ultra-sensitive silicon bolometers that are intrinsically sensitive to polarization. Their NEP is close to 10E-18 W/sqrt(Hz). We will present the optical and thermal architectures of the instrument, we will detail the bolometer design and we will show the expected performances of the instrument based on preliminary lab work., 10 pages, 6 figures, SPIE proceeding: Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation 2020

Home accidents, or domestic accidents, are accidents that occur inside a home or the adjacent areas (stairways, courtyards, gardens, attics, cellars, garages, etc.). In Italy, they are monitored through a number of surveillance systems including the PASSI system and the ISTAT (Italian Institute of Statistics) Multipurpose Survey on Households. Only the SINIACA system (Italian National Information Service on Domestic Accidents), managed by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (National Institute for Health), provides health-related information regarding such events and their circumstances and consequences, based primarily on AccidentEmergency Departments' data.This is an observational study on the domestic accidents trends in the province of Trento, using data on AccidentEmergency Departments admissions, between 2009 and 2018, combined with mortality and hospital discharge data.The authors extrapolated records regarding admissions for domestic accidents from the digital annual AccidentEmergency admissions archive. For the 2009-2018 period, they analysed: the trend over time, both overall and classified according to gender and age group; and the inflow rate/10,000 inhabitants, broken down according to gender, nationality (Italians and foreign nationals) and age group. The coverage of the additional SINIACA variables regarding the accident dynamic, contingent activity and place of the accident were also analysed. With regard to the case load for 2018, the authors analysed the site and type of the injuries, the level of severity, outcome and the services provided, comparing the 0-14 years and65 years age groups. Trend significance was analysed using the Cochran-Armitage test for trend and the significance of the differences between the proportions was analysed using the Chi-squared test. We have also calculated the costs of the services provided, overall and by age group.During the study period, a total of 99,386 AE admissions for domestic accidents were recorded, with an annual average of 9,938 admissions. Between 2009 and 2018, there was a statistically significant increase of 41%, which was due in part to better event recognition and recording. Females prevail over males, especially over the age of 75 years. Over time there is an increase in cases over the age of 65, due to the progressive ageing of the population. Considering the resident population alone, the AE inflow rate rises from 147 admissions/10,000 inhabitants in 2009 to 197 admissions/10,000 inhabitants in 2018, with a 39.0% increase. Inflow is greater in the two extreme age groups: in 2018, in the 0-4 years age group, the inflow rate is 319 admissions/10,000 inhabitants and in the over 75 years class it rises to 481 admission/10,000 inhabitants, 1.6 and 2.4 times the mean inflow for home accidents in the province of Trento, respectively. Admissions are less amongst foreign nationals than amongst Italians. Generally speaking, the events were of a mild severity, with white triage codes accounting for 16% of cases and green triage codes for 73%. The degree of severity is higher amongst subjects aged over 65, as well as in women and Italian citizens.The level of recording of SINIACA variables increases over time, to reach 100% coverage in 2018. Falls are the most common dynamic in all age ranges; household chores, activities of daily living and DIY are the three most commonly observed activities. Home accidents most commonly occur in the areas adjacent to the home and the kitchen. In over 2/3 of cases, the injuries sustained were to the limbs and the head/face. Head/face injuries prevail in the youngest age group. Wounds, burns and head injuries are the most common types of injury sustained by children in the 0-14 years age group, whereas fractures and dislocations are typical of the older age groups. Diagnostic and care resource consumption is far higher amongst the elderly, which absorb 61% of the total costs of the cases treated in the year 2018.AccidentEmergency facilities provide a privileged observatory for the monitoring of domestic accidents in the population. By comparing our data with the ISTAT data, it can be estimated that 1 in 2 home accidents in the population resulted in an AE admission. Admissions increase over time, particularly amongst the elderly and they are not higher amongst foreign nationals than amongst Italians. The inflow rate is higher in the extreme age ranges: 0-4 and75 years; however, there are differences between the two in terms of type of injury, level of severity and outcome. It is essential for AE admission data to be fully digitalised, and facility and staff sensitisation is also important in order to guarantee the availability of good-quality data. The completeness of AE data and the possibility of obtaining case stratification based on social and demographic characteristics could make it possible, through a virtuous integration of services, to use these data for the implementation of prevention initiatives. These, if carried out effectively, could also contribute to contain healthcare costs.

A highly reactive and selective catalytic system comprising Fe(III) and macrocyclic pyridine-containing ligands (Pc-L) for alkene oxidation by using hydrogen peroxide is reported herein. Four new stable iron(III) complexes have been isolated and characterized. Importantly, depending on the anion of the iron(III) metal complex employed as catalyst, a completely reversed selectivity was observed. When X=OTf, a selective dihydroxylation reaction took place. On the other hand, employing X=Cl resulted in the epoxide as the major product. The reaction proved to be quite general, tolerating aromatic and aliphatic alkenes as well as internal or terminal double bonds and both epoxides and diol products were obtained in good yields with good to excellent selectivities (up to 93 % isolated yield and d.r.=99 : 1). The catalytic system proved its robustness by performing several catalytic cycles, without observing catalyst deactivation. The use of acetone as a solvent and hydrogen peroxide as terminal oxidant renders this catalytic system appealing.

This paper introduces the setup of a Distributed Generation Microgrid (DGM) focused onto research on monitoring (electrical and environmental), controling and operating microgrids. This network is located at the Polytech Center Campus of the Federal University of Parana (UFPR), in Curitiba, Brazil. It consists of nine 13.8 kV feeders, three Distributed Generation (DG) sources and is connected to the main utility through a 69 kV distribution substation of the state electricity company named as Copel DIS. In addition to the electrical configuration, all components of the microgrid are presented, such as power generation, electrical and environmental meters, $\mu \mathrm{PMU}$ and the system monitoring computing environment.

This paper presents the results of an ongoing project involving the monitoring of micro phasor measurement units (micro-PMU) at Universidade Federal do Parana (UFPR). The infrastructure for receiving, processing and storing data from micro-PMUs, energy meters and power quality analysers was deployed. Free software were tested for data storage and visualization. We modified an existing open-source Energy Monitoring System (EMS) for proper use with PMUs. The software native communication protocol was adapted from hypertext protocol (HTTP) to direct reception of user datagram protocol (UDP) in IEEE Std. C37.118.2-2011 format to receive micro-PMUs transmission at 120 phasor per second. We modified data storage format to efficiently deal with time information allowing reduction of 60% of storage space in comparison to commonly used phasor data concentrator (openPDC).

to quantify and identify the proportion of miscarriages in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige Region, Northern Italy) in 2010-2016, managed exclusively at the emergency room (ER).population surveillance study.comparison between the Trentino computerized database of registration to the ER for miscarriage and the flow D-11 of the Italian National Statistics Institute (Istat) on hospitalized miscarriages in the period 2010-2016.for each year, the proportion of women seen at the ER for miscarriage and then hospitalized and the cases exclusively managed in ER were calculated. The two groups were compared on the basis of the following variables: age, citizenship, gestational week, calendar year, and ER of admission.the proportion of miscarriages managed exclusively in ER in the province of Trento varies from 31.3% in 2010 to 60.5% in 2016. There are no differences in the proportion of hospitalization in relation to the age of women, while a higher proportion of hospitalizations was observed among foreign women compared to the Italians and in the ER of Trento compared to the peripheral ERs. A growing trend of hospitalization clearly appears with increasing gestational age, while the calendar year is inversely proportional to the increase in hospitalization.since the therapeutic diagnostic path of women with miscarriage has changed, it could be useful to have a representation as close as possible to the reality of the phenomenon to evaluate if an integration of the Istat D-11 flow on the cases hospitalized with those cases managed exclusively in ER is feasible or opportune. This opportunity should be considered in local, multicentre or national epidemiological studies.
