Background: Oral health-related quality of life is a concept that reveals how problems occurring in the social, physical, psychological, and orofacial areas affect the well-being of the person. Objectives: In this study was aimed to determine the relationship between dental anxiety and oral health-related quality of life of patients. Methods: In a descriptive study, a quantitative research approach was used. We reached 258 patients who came to the Endodontics and Prosthodontics clinic. Data were obtained by using the "dental anxiety (M-DAS) and quality of life (OHIP-14) scale together with the demographic questionnaire. Results: The mean score the patients got from M-DAS was 11.68 ± 4.41; the average score of OHIP-14 was determined as 16.72 ± 10.89. It was determined that there is a strong negative correlation between total M-DAS and total OHIP-14 scores. The patients stated that they most frequently experienced problems in terms of physiological limitation in OHIP-14 questions. Conclusions: The quality of life associated with oral health decreases for individuals with high levels of dental anxiety. This study investigated three dimensional deformations with GNSS measurements around TRBZ tide gauge station located in the Eastern Black Sea region, Trabzon province, sea port area. For this purpose, a geodetic GNSS control network was established in the study area. The GNSS network consists of three reference points and two object points. In the GNSS network, two periods of static GNSS measurements were conducted, in June 2020 (1st Period) and in October 2020 (2nd Period). Magnetwork Tools v5.1 software was used to evaluate the GNSS measurements obtained. After evaluating the measurements, the coordinate differences (base components) AX. AL and AZ of the points in the WGS-84 system and the variance-covariance matrices of these differences were obtained. After this process, the adjusted coordinates of the points and variance-covariance matrices were obtained by adjusting each period with the algorithms written in the MATLAB R2016b program using the free network method. Deformations occurring between different periods were examined with the static deformation model by using the 02-criterion method. Objective: In this study, it was aimed to make a cultural adaptation of the Child Health and Illness Profile-Adolescents (CHIP-AE) measurement tool for adolescents, which was developed by Starfield in 1993, to analyze whether the Turkish version is reliable, valid and applicable. Material and Methods: The sample of the study consisted of adolescents aged between 12 and 17, receiving inpatient treatment in the Children's Health and Diseases Clinic in the Faculty of Medicine at Eskisehir Osmangazi University, and adolescents aged between 12 and 17, studying in a private school. The original version of CHIP-AE in English was first translated into Turkish, and then back translated. All stages of the cultural adaptation were performed by a specialized committee. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was conducted on LISREL to test the validity of the instrument. Results: For the purpose of this study, the Turkish version of the CHIP-AE (12-17 years) was administered to 252 adolescents receiving inpatient treatment [148 (58.7%) female; 104 (41.3%) male] and 223 healthy adolescents [109 (48.9%) female; 114 (51.1%) male]. The average age was 14.32±1.70 in the group of ill adolescents, and 14.57±1.51 in the group of healthy adolescents. With regard to reliability, Cronbach's was 0.852 in the group of ill adolescents, and 0.807 in the group of healthy adolescents. These values refer to perfect reliability. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted to test construct validity. Model fit results obtained in CFA were as follows: χ²=1622.07, df=1061, p-value=0.000 RMSEA=0.046 in the group of ill adolescents; and χ²=2082.33, df=1208, p-value=0.000 RMSEA=0.057 in the group of healthy adolescents. Thus, validity results comply with the standards. Conclusion: This study suggests that the version developed for Turkish adolescents has high validity for the groups of both healthy and ill Turkish adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Evidence- Based Practice Leadership Scale (EBPLS) and Work Environment Scale (EBPWES) translated into Turkish so that they are used in nursing research. Design and Methods: This methodological study was conducted with nurses. Language and content validity, item analyses were used to test the validity and reliability of the scales. Findings: The confirmatory factor analysis results demonstrate that t values of each item in both scales are significant (P < .05). All model and data fit indices are higher than the acceptable level. Thus, CFA has shown that the scales with model-data fit are valid. Practice Implications: The characteristics of nurse leaders and the suitability of the working environment are crucial for the maintenance of evidence-based practices. EBPLS and EBPWES will be effective and reliable tools in our country and an effective tool for contributing to the maintenance and development of evidence-based practices. Patient satisfaction with nursing is an important indicator of the quality of the nursing services. This study used The Patient Perception of Hospital Experience With Nursing (PPHEN) scale (Dozier, Kitzman, Ingersol, Holmberg, & Schultz, 2001) to determine the nursing care perception of patients in a Turkish tertiary care hospital. The study design was descriptive comparative and used convenience sampling. In total, 566 patients volunteered to take part in the study. The patient satisfaction level with nursing was found to be below average; patient satisfaction showed no meaningful differences between genders, marital status, or the clinics where the patient was hospitalized, but significantly higher levels of satisfaction were found with higher levels of education, younger age, higher incomes, and being employed. Overall, the patients considered that nursing care needs improvement, especially in terms of the provision of information and psychosocial support. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: As in many places in the world, surgical practices in the Ottoman Empire as well were performed not by physicians but surgeons. Even it seems that males from their appearance have dominated medicine and surgery, the literature shows that the appearances of female physicians and surgeons date back to old times. In this Study, based on the knowledge achieved on Saliha Hatun, lived in the 17th century and known with the name Kupeli, and on documents available in Uskudar Shari'a Court Records, consent notes of surgical interventions were evaluated in this study. Methods: The consent documents of Saliha Hatun from Uskudar Shari'a Court Records were examined. The transcriptions of selected consent documents of Saliha Hatun were translated into Turkish and assorted. The documents were separately evaluated. Results: Saliha Hatun was hazık in surgery and had a superior position among her peers. The consent forms we examined for the purpose of this study show that there was a female surgeon practicing in the 17th century, and she was performing surgeries and signing consent forms with her patients. The majority of patients visited her for the treatment of hernia. Saliha Hatun's patients were both Muslim and non Muslim. Shari'a records reveal that she requested minimum 400 and maximum 3000 akches for the surgical intervention concerned. Conclusions: The documents of consent notes, supplied from Court Records, provides evidence of the presence of a female surgeon named Saliha Hatun in the 17th century. The consent forms examined for the purpose of this study show that Saliha Hatun was adept at hernia operations This evidence also shows that Ottoman females had effective roles and positions in these eras.
