This paper surveys the theoretical and empirical literature on the effects of the real exchange rate (RER) on international trade, economic development and growth. We summarize the main conceptual issues, discuss the relevance of the RER as an instrument of development policy, provide an overview of the macroeconomic and microeconomic mechanisms that link the RER to trade and long run growth and development, analyze the challenges - especially the disconnect between theory and data - that often arise in empirical applications, and present new avenues for future research. In the process, we present some updated estimates and illustrative figures. The mechanisms through which the RER influences long-run growth and structural change outcomes remains a promising area of research and the relevance of individual channels in different contexts deserves much more careful investigation. Greater data availability should help fill some of these gaps in our understanding.

Uzun yıllar önce, R. Hofstadter Amerikan siyasal söyleminin paranoyak bir üsluptan muzdarip olduğuna işaret etti ve böyle bir tarzın ülkesine has olmadığını iddia etti; ona göre paranoyak söylem uluslararası bir olguydu. Hofstadter'i takiben bu çalışma, Türk siyasal söyleminde de paranoyak olarak adlandırılabilecek bir üslubun var olduğunu iddia etmektedir; siyasal İslam'a karşı Kemalizm tarafından benimsenen üslupta. Temel olarak psikanaliz ve eleştirel kuramın sağladığı araçları kullanarak bu çalışma i) cumhuriyetin kurucu ideolojisinin benimsediği üslubu analiz etmeyi, ii) paranoyak bir söylemin neden geliştirildiğine ve bu güne dek sürdürüleceğine dair mümkün açıklamalar sunmayı ve iii) böyle bir üslubun ideolojinin doğası ve eğilimleri için ne anlama geldiğini öğrenmeyi amaçlar. Böyle bir üslubun ne kadar derinleştiğini görebilmek için, çalışma sadece ideolojinin temel metinlerini değil, aynı zamanda Kemalizme ait edebi ve kültürel eserleri de inceliyor. Böylece, bu tarz bir üslubun ne tür gizli ve açık özelliklere sahip olduğunu ve Kemalizmin siyasal İslam'ın Türkiye'de yeniden yükselişine karşı nasıl bir tepki verdiğini bulmaya çalışır. Many years ago, R. Hofstadter pointed out that American political rhetoric was suffering from a paranoid style and claimed that such a style was not exclusive to his country; for him, it was an international phenomenon. Following Hofstadter, the study claims that a style that can be named as paranoid can also be observed in Turkish political rhetoric, in the one that has been adopted by Kemalism against political Islam. By utilizing the tools provided mainly by psychoanalysis and critical theory, the study attempts i) to analyze the style that the founding ideology of the republic has adopted, ii) to come up with possible explanations as to why a paranoid discourse has been developed and sustained to this day and iii) to see what such a style means for the nature and tendencies of the ideology itself. To be able to see how deep such a style goes, the study surveys not only the foundational texts of the ideology, but also the recent literary and cultural works pertaining to Kemalism. By doing so, the study attempts to find out what kind of latent and explicit characteristics such a style might have and what kind of reaction Kemalism has given against the resurgence of political Islam in Turkey. 82

Using bilateral trade data in total and technology-and-skill-intensive manufactured goods for 28 developing countries that account for 82% of all developing country manufactures exports between 1978 and 2005, this paper explores the effects of financial development on the pattern of specialization in South-South and South-North trade. The empirical results using dynamic panel regressions and comprehensive sensitivity tests suggest that financial development in the South has an economically and statistically significant positive effect on the share of total and technology-and-skill-intensive manufactures exports in GDP, and total exports in South-South trade. In contrast, no such significant or robust effect of financial development is found in South-North trade. Overall, the positive effect of financial development is found to be asymmetric favoring South-South significantly more than South-North trade. In addition, financial development is found to be increasing technology-and-skill-intensive manufactured goods exports significantly more than total manufactured or merchandise goods exports.

Yirminci yüzyıl tiyatrosunun en onemli eserlerinden biri de Jean ANOUİLH'in Antigone oyunudur. Sofokles'in M.Ö 411 yılında yazdığı aynı adlı eserin bir uyarlaması olan oyun 1942 yılında Alman nazi güçlerinin Fransayı işgali sırasında Jean ANOUİLH tarafından yeniden kaleme alınmıştır. Oyunun yazıldıgı dönemin kendi varlıgına onun çehresini gosterir nitelikte olması onun gerçekçi, kapsamli ve arastırmacı bir bakis açısı ile incelenmesi geregini doğurur. Konstantin STANİSLAVSKİ çağdas tiyatronun en bilinen sisteminin yaraticisi olarak, psikolojik gerçekcilige dayalı sistemiyle gerçekligin bütünlükle yansitilabilmesini sağlayan bir oyunculuk anlayışı geliştirmiştir. Stanislavski sisteminde rolün yaratım surecini etkileyen çesitli faktörler vardır. Bu faktorler iki ana gruba ayrılır: 1. İçsel hazırlık 2.dışsal hazırlık. Arastırmacı rolün yaratım surecinde her iki sureci de dikkate almak zorundadır.Sadece içsel hazırlık veya sadece dışsal hazırlık sürecinin kullanılması gerçekligin bütünlükle yansıtılmasını engelleyebilmektedir.Araştırmanın birinci bölümü olan giriş kısmını müteakiben ikinci bölümde stanislavski sisteminin kavramlari üzerinde durulmuş, üçüncü bolümde oyunun edebi tahlili yapılmıştir. Dördüncü bölümde karakter incelemesi yapılarak beşinci bölümde rolün büyük istegi ve üstün amacı saptanmıştır.Altıncı bölümde ana aksiyonu belirleyen olay dizgisi tespit edilmiştir.Yedinci bölümde adalet ilüzyonu iliskisi degerlendirmesi yapilmistir.Sekizinci bölümde rolün biçim ve içerik açısından yorumu yapılırken dokuzuncu ve son bölümde arştırmanın genel bir değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır. Bütün bu incelemeler ışığında araştırma, oyunun Stanislavski sistemine göre çözümlenmesinin yanısıra Kreon karakterinin gizli kalmış yönlerinin ortaya çıkarılması ve adalet ilüzyonu ilişkisinin aydınlatılmasını amaçlamıştır. Jean ANOUİLH?s Antigone is one of the important plays of the 20?th-centuries theatre .İt is an adaptation of Sofocles? tragic play of the same title which was written in 1942,when German Nazi forces occupied France.The play projects the environment of France under nazi occupation . Therefore it must be evaluated by realistic, inclusive and systematic investigation.Constantin Stanislavsky has developed the most known system of modern theatre which was based on psychological reality. İt provides the complete reflection of reality. In his system there are some different factors which effects the process of creating the theatrical role. These factors are considered mainly in two groups: 1. Inner factors 2. Outer physical factors. In order to achieve exact process of creating theatrical role, researcher should consider both of these factors .In this research, fallowing the introduction, second part has been focused on understanding the basic principles of Stanislavsky system, both its inner and outer factors together. In third part the literary analyses has been done for work of art and author. In forth part Creon character has been analysed in given circumstances and in fifth part means and goals of charachter has been setted. In the sixth part, sequances of events has been determined for clerifying the main action. In seventh part sequance of events has been analysed for clerifying the justice ilusion of Creon. In the eight part the Creon role has been commentated both in style and content. And finally in the nineth part as a conclusion all of these steps has been summed up. Through the introduction of these evaluations, this study is not only attempts to analyse the structure of the play but also aims to introduce the justice illusion that created by king Creon with its unknown sides. 53
