O nematoide das lesões radiculares tem causado danos econômicos crescentes nas culturas de explorações agropecuárias no Brasil, especialmente na região Centro-Oeste. Objetivou-se neste trabalho conhecer a distribuição do nematoide das lesões radiculares, Pratylenchus spp., no Estado de Mato Grosso, possibilitando conhecer as localidades com maior concentração deste nematoide ao longo do tempo. Através de dados obtidos de laudos emitidos no período de 2006 a 2015 foram realizadas análises de abundância, frequência de ocorrência, autocorrelação e confeccionados mapas da densidade populacional de Pratylenchus spp. no Estado. Também foram analisados dados anuais de temperatura média, pluviosidade anual, produtividade e área plantada no Estado no período. O gênero Pratylenchus está presente em 85% das amostras, apresentando perante a outros gêneros fitopatogênicos uma abundância de 76% de incidência. Os municípios de Sapezal (12%), Sorriso (9%), Diamantino (8%), Campo Novo do Parecis (8%), Primavera do leste (6%), Sinop (5%), Nova Mutum (4%) e Querência (4%) foram os que apresentaram maior abundancia de Pratylenchus spp., indicando alto nível de infestação do patógeno na região central do Estado de Mato Grosso, sendo o ano de 2011 o que apresentou maior infestação. Observou-se que houve aumento na área plantada, porém a produtividade se manteve próxima a média de 3,405 Kg ha-1, anos com pluviosidade acima de 1100 mm apresentaram aumento populacional do nematoide, a temperatura média de 25°C demonstrou ser ideal para seu desenvolvimento, demonstrando que o Pratylenchus spp. possui um ambiente favorável no Estado de Mato Grosso para seu aumento populacional, devido as condições climáticas serem propicias, tendo o produtor que utilizar táticas de manejo para o seu controle para minimizar perdas em suas lavouras.

Maize is an important crop for Brazil's economy. This species is, in general, grown as monoculture, making it necessary the use of conservationist practices for soil management and to favor crop development. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of biological fertilizer and cover plants on soil properties and maize yield. The experiment was conducted in a dystrophic Latossolo Vermelho (Oxisol), in the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 crop seasons in Tangará da Serra, MT, Brazil. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design, using a double factorial arrangement with an additional control: two biological fertilizer conditions, three soil cover conditions, and a control (forest fragment). Seeds of Pennisetum glaucum and Crotalaria ochroleuca were sowed on October 2015 and 2016. Maize seeds were sowed on December 2015 and 2016, with subsequent application of 150 L ha-1 of biological fertilizer. The soil cultivated with maize had greater chemical quality than that under the forest fragment, however, the forest fragment soil had greater microbiological quality. The use of biological fertilizer and cover plants increased the fertility and microbiological quality of the soil cultivated with maize. The use of cover plants increased the maize yield in both crop seasons. The use of biological fertilizer and soil cover plants (P. glaucum and C. ochroleuca) improved the soil chemical and microbiological quality. RESUMO O milho é uma importante cultura para a economia brasileira, porém, é produzido em sistema de monocultura, e por isso, torna-se necessário o uso de práticas conservacionistas de manejo do solo que favoreçam o desenvolvimento da cultura. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos da adubação biológica e plantas de cobertura nas propriedades do solo e produtividade do milho. O experimento foi conduzido em um LATOSSOLO VERMELHO distrófico (Oxisols dystrofphic), nas safras 2015/16 e 2016/17 em Tangará da Serra - MT, Brasil. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial duplo com controle adicional: duas condições de adubação biológica, três condições de cobertura do solo e um controle (fragmento de mata). A semeadura do Pennisetum glaucum e da Crotalaria ochroleuca foi realizada em outubro de 2015 e 2016. A semeadura do milho ocorreu em dezembro de 2015 e 2016, seguida da aplicação de 150 l ha-1 de fertilizante biológico. O solo cultivado com milho apresentou maior qualidade química em relação ao solo do fragmento de mata, não obstante, obteve menor qualidade microbiológica. A adubação biológica e as plantas de cobertura incrementaram a fertilidade e a qualidade microbiológica do solo cultivado com milho. As plantas de cobertura incrementaram a produtividade do milho em ambas as safras. Com isso, a adubação biológica e a plantas de cobertura P. glaucum, and C. ochroleuca aumentaram a qualidade química e microbiológica do solo.

This study evaluated the effect of storage period on the physiological and health quality of soybean seeds. The experiment was arranged in a factorial scheme (4 x 2 x 2) with four periods of storage (0, 2, 4 and 6 months), two soybean cultivars (‘BRS Pintado’ and ‘MSOY 8866’) and treated and untreated seeds with the formulated mixture of active ingredients pyraclostrobine (25 g i.a L-1) + Methyl-Thiophanate (225 g i.a L-1) + fipronil (250 g i.a L-1) in a 0,1 L.ha-1 dosage of the commercial product. Concerning health, there was a reduction of Aspergillus spp., Cercospora kikuchii, Colletotrichum dematium var. truncata and Fusarium spp fungus when periods of storage were increased independently if storage interactions occurred due to cultivar, treatment and/or all analyzed factors. cv. ‘BRS Pintado’ stood out by presenting lower results on the occurrence of fungi. The isolated cultivar factor presented a significant result concerning the physiological quality and c.v. ‘BRS Pintado’ showed better results in the variables: germination of seeds from the speed aging test, germination, shoot lenght from the speed emergence test, and both shoot dry matter and root dry matter of germination. There was an interaction for the speed emergence index variable between storage versus cultivar, in which cv. ‘BRS Pintado’ achieved better average results in all periods of storage. The storage factor alone was significant for shoot length of plants from the speed emergence index, the shoot plant dry matter from the emergency speed index, root dry matter of seedling germination and germination of seeds subjected to accelerated aging. The isolated treatment factor was significant in the germination variable and the untreated seeds showed better results in relation to the treated ones. However, the difference of these values would not be significant at the field. Treated seeds showed better results compared to untreated ones in most of the analyzed variables and their association with seeds storage did not affect the physiological quality evaluation during six months of evaluation, enabling the maintenance of the health quality of seeds.

Cultivar Solar was developed specifically for the edaphoclimatic conditions of the State of Mato Grosso. It has improved fruit physical and chemical characteristics, such as higher fruit weight, total soluble solids content and pulp percentage, and is suitable for both fresh consumption and processing industry.

The aim of the current study is to assess green manure and spontaneous vegetation species in cropping systems focused on the organic cabbage production, as well as their influence on soil microbial community. The treatments consisted of green manures such as black velvet beans (Stizolobium aterrimum), Crotalaria spectabilis, jack beans (Canavalia ensiformis), pigeon peas (Cajanus cajan cv. Iapar 43) and spontaneous vegetation (fallow) in two cropping systems (with and without incorporation of green manure plants). Evaluations of green manure, cabbage crop and soil microbial activity were carried out. Green manure: fresh and dry mass, nitrogen and accumulated nitrogen content; Cabbage culture: horizontal and vertical diameter of the head, commercial and total mass; Microbial soil activity: soil microbial biomass carbon, soil basal respiration and metabolic quotient. For fresh and dry mass, jack beans and pigeons pea presented higher values, indicating good performance of these materials. For both, nitrogen content and accumulated nitrogen, the jack beans were stood. Regarding cabbage culture, the spontaneous vegetation decreased the horizontal diameter of the head when the incorporation did not occur. As for the commercial mass, for jack beans the cultivation with incorporation was superior. When the incorporation of the covering plants occurred, the crotalaria spectabilis produced less commercial mass and total head mass. Still in relation to total head mass, jack beans and spontaneous vegetation had lower mass when no incorporation occurred. As to soil microbial biomass carbon the spontaneous vegetation presented higher value, differing only from black velvet beans. The use of jack beans as a cover crop associated with the incorporation system was shown to be promising for the production of cabbage. The objective of this study was to evaluate the transmissibility of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vasinfectum by inoculated cottonseeds. The cottonseeds were inoculated using the water restriction technique, at different times of exposure. A completely randomized design was used in the laboratory and a randomized design with blocks was used in the field experiment, with a 2x5 factorial arrangement with two cultivars (FMT 701 and Delta Opal) and five times of exposure of the pathogen in seeds (0 h, 24 h, 48 h, 72 h and 96 h). There was a reduction in the percentage of germination with the increase of the infection of the seeds when in greater time of contact with the fungus. Delta Opal cultivar presented minor disease index and major pathogen incidence when compared to FMT 701 cultivar. The rates of infection and transmission of the seed pathogen were effective and directly proportional to the inoculum potential in the seeds, with rates of 95% and 1.2%, respectively.

O objetivo do artigo foi avaliar a populacao de nematoides micofagos e fitoparasitas na sucessao soja/milho, comparando a influencia das cultivares utilizadas e relacionar a flutuacao populacional com cada estadio fenologico das culturas da soja e do milho. Em cada area e estadio fenologico foram utilizadas duas amostras compostas coletadas ate a profundidade de ate 30 cm, demarcadas com auxilio de GPS. Foram realizadas analises de riqueza, abundância, frequencia de ocorrencia, indice pontual de abundância, indice de diversidade de Shannon, indice de similaridade de Jaccard e dados meteorologicos. A diversidade dos nematoides durante o desenvolvimento da soja e do milho variaram durante os estadios fenologicos das culturas, sobressaindo-se a populacao de fitoparasitas. Os resultados obtidos nas pesquisas revelaram que a utilizacao de milho na sucessao com a soja, nesse caso, foi desfavoravel, pois multiplicou a populacao de fitoparasitas, principalmente Pratylenchus spp. e Helicotylenchus spp.. Com relacao as cultivares utilizadas, concluiu-se que a cv. Pintado favoreceu menos a reproducao de nematoides. As variaveis ambientais nao foram fatores determinantes. Foi identificado um possivel sinergismo entre os generos Pratylenchus e Helicotylenchus, uma vez que altas populacoes de ambos os generos foram encontradas em ambas as cultras e em todos os estadios fenologicos.

O Brasil é o maior produtor de maracujá azedo do mundo, porém a antracnose, doença causadapelo fungo Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, vem causando muitas perdas na produção. O objetivo desseestudo foi avaliar os índices de severidade e incidência da antracnose em famílias de irmãos completosde maracujazeiro azedo e classificá-las de acordo com a resistência à doença em duas épocas do ano. Oexperimento foi conduzido em ambiente protegido. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizadosem fatorial duplo (2 x 20), sendo 20 famílias de irmãos completos (FIC) e duas épocas do ano, com trêsrepetições. A inoculação foi realizada aos 60 dias após a semeadura com avalições semanais. A incidênciafoi determinada com base na porcentagem de plantas doentes, a severidade e a classificação de resistenciacom escala de notas de 1 a 4. Após foram realizados os cálculos da área abaixo da curva de progresso daseveridade (AACPS) e da incidência (AACPI). As FIC foram classificadas em Resistentes (R), ModeradamenteResistentes (MR), Suscetíveis (S) e Altamente Suscetíveis (AS) e apresentaram diferentes índices deincidência e severidade, sendo que na época 1 houve maior incidência e menor severidade, ocorrendo oinverso na época 2, isso devido as diferenças nas condições de temperatura e umidade entre as épocas. Houvediferenças na incidência, na severidade e na resistência, demonstrando que diferentes épocas do mesmo anoinfluenciaram na classificação quanto à resistência á antracnose, sendo que 50% foram classificadas comosuscetíveis ou altamente suscetíveis nas duas épocas. Em contra partida, a FIC 03 foi classificada comoresistente na primeira época.

With the increase in world population comes the concern about the misuse of natural resources, such as the primary resource of water, essential for consumption and use in agriculture. Thus, there is an urgent need to study the regions where it is possible to use water as a source of irrigation for crops. This work was performed in the laboratory of Agrometeorology at the State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), with the aid of ArcGIS 10® geostatistical software, which interpolates and specializes georeferenced data in order to form maps. The Upper Paraguay River Basin, belonging to the State of Mato Grosso, has 44 municipalities which are classified according to the type of soil, establishing three AWC standards: 30, 50 and 75. Overall, the area and representativeness for each municipality were determined, and 31 of these, representing over 41% of the whole territory, were shown to have AWC 75 soil. Only 8 municipalities were shown to have AWC 50 soil, with 11% of these being located in a flood zone, and 37 municipalities were shown to have AWC 30 soil, representing 48% of the total. Therefore, this region mostly has AWC 75 soil, demonstrating the presence of a soil with higher storage capacity and water availability.

A cultura do algodão tem grande importância econômica e social para o Brasil, no entanto proporciona também impactos ambientais relevantes. Para mensurar esses impactos faz-se uso da dinâmica populacional de nematoides em agroecossistemas como indicador de qualidade de solos. Diante disso, o objetivo do trabalho foi caracterizar a comunidade de nematoides em habitat cultivado com algodão em diferentes estádios fenológicos da cultura. Foram coletadas duas amostras de solo, na profundidade de 30 cm, por área (talhão) e estádio fenológico (inicial, antes da cultura ser implantada; vegetativo; reprodutivo e maturidade fisiológica). Foram realizadas as análises de riqueza, abundância, frequência de ocorrência (FO), índice pontual de abundância (IPA), índice de diversidade de Shannon (H’) e registrados os dados meteorológicos. No total foram identificados 4.400 indivíduos (abundância), distribuídos em seis famílias (Aphelenchidae, Aphelenchoididae, Heteroderidae, Hoplolaimidae, Pratylenchidae e Tylenchidae). Os gêneros predominantes foram Helicotylenchus (64,77%), Pratylenchus (15,45%) e Aphelenchus (9,32%). Em todas as amostras, o número de indivíduos fitoparasitas foi maior que o de micófagos. Os estádios vegetativo e de maturação fisiológica, apresentaram a maior população de micófagos no talhão 5 (Th5) e no estádio inicial e na maturação fisiológica no talhão 11 (Th11). Quanto à riqueza, os dois talhões apresentaram o mesmo número de gêneros. Sendo identificado como exclusivos o gênero Meloidogyne no Th5 e o gênero Tylenchus no Th11. Considerando a FO, os gêneros Aphelenchus, Helicotylenchus e Pratylenchus foram observados em 75% das amostras no Th5 e Helicotylenchus (100%) e Pratylenchus (50%) no Th11. Resultados semelhantes da FO foram observados para o IPA, acrescentando-se o gênero Aphelenchoides no Th11. Quanto ao H’, observou-se uma diversidade total de 0,60 com o valor do Th5 inferior ao Th11. Ao analisar a correspondência canônica (CCA), observou-se que os dados meteorológicos não interferiram diretamente na flutuação populacional de nematoides nos dois talhões. Sendo assim, observou-se que a comunidade de nematoides estudada neste trabalho, foi composta na maior parte, pela população de fitoparasitas e a maturidade fisiológica do algodoeiro foi o estádio fenológico com a maior obtenção de indivíduos tanto fitoparasitas quanto micófagos.

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos da temperatura e meios de cultura no índice de velocidade de crescimento micelial, produção de conídios e morfologia do fungo Ramularia areola. O estudo foi conduzido em condições de laboratório, com delineamento inteiramente casualizado, tendo quatro temperaturas e sete meios de cultura. Após o preparo de cada meio de cultura em placas de Petri, foi realizado a inoculação do fugo com discos de 2 mm de diâmetro contendo R. areola. As placas foram vedadas com filme PVC e incubadas com fotoperíodo de 12 h luz e 12 h escuro, com as respectivas temperaturas de cada tratamento. Foi avaliado o índice de velocidade de crescimento micelial (IVCM), número de conídios (NC) e características morfológicas de R. areola. Houve interação significativa entre os meios de cultura e temperatura para as variáveis IVCM e NC de R. areola, onde o meio que favoreceu o IVCM foi Arroz-Ágar (AA), enquanto que, o NC foi superior nos meios BDA e Suco vegetal ? (V8). O aspecto morfológico do fungo sofreu alterações evidentes na temperatura de 24ºC e em função dos meios de cultura. Com isso, verificou-se que as temperaturas 24 e 28ºC, os meios de cultura AA, BDA e V8 promoveram maior IVCM e NC de Ramularia areola.

The efficiency of biological products combined with biological fertilization for controlling Pratylenchus brachyurus in soybean crops, and effects of these treatments on soybean crops were evaluate. A greenhouse experiment was conducted at the Mato Grosso State University, in Brazil, using a randomized block design with a 10×2 factorial arrangement, and four replications. The treatments consisted of Trichoderma asperellum, B. subtilis, Purpureocillium lilacinum, B. subtilis + T. asperellum, B. subtilis + P. lilacinum, T. asperellum + P. lilacinum, B. subtilis + T. asperellum + P. lilacinum and abamectin, and Controls with, and without nematodes. Nematode population, plant height, stem base diameter, and soil microbiological characteristics (at 60 and 120 days after sowing - DAS), shoot dry weight (60 DAS), and number of pods per plant, and grain yield (120 DAS) were evaluated. The treatments were efficient for the control of phytonematodes at 60 DAS; the efficiency of treatments with biological products increased when combined with biological fertilization. The biological products were more efficient for controlling the nematodes than abamectin at 120 DAS; and the percentage of control were higher when they were combined with biological fertilization, in both growing periods. The biological treatments resulted in better agronomic characteristics, and higher number of pods per plant, and grain yield, affecting the plants in the first growing period, and significant interaction with the biological fertilizer for these variables in the second growing period. The interaction between treatments and biological fertilization was significant for soil microbiological characteristics in the second growing period. RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar a eficiência de produtos biológicos associados à adubação biológica no biocontrole de Pratylenchus brachyurus na cultura da soja, além do impacto destestratamentos sobre o desenvolvimento da cultura. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, na UNEMAT, Campus de Tangará da Serra, com delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados, esquema fatorial 10X2, com quatro repetições. Foram avaliados: testemunha com e sem nematoides, Trichoderma asperellum, Bacillus subtilis, Purpureocillium lilacinum, B. subtilis+ T. asperellum, B. subtilis+ P. lilacinum, T. asperellum+ P. lilacinum, B. subtilis+ T. asperellum+ P. lilacinum e abamectina. Avaliou-se o nível populacional de P. brachyurus, altura, diâmetro do colo das plantas e características microbiológicas do solo aos 60 e 120 DAS; massa seca da parte aérea aos 60 DAS; número de vagens/planta e produtividade aos 120 DAS. Observou-se que aos 60 DAS os tratamentos promoveram eficiência no controle do fitonematoides, quando associados a adubação biológica somente os tratamentos biológicos melhoraram sua eficiência. Aos 120 DAS os produtos biológicos apresentaram maior eficiência no controle de P. brachyurus que a abamectina, aumentando sua eficiência quando adicionada a adubação biológica (nas duas épocas de semeadura). As características agronômicas, número de vagens/planta e produtividade submetidas aos tratamentos biológicos apresentaram melhor desempenho, havendo interação significativa entre tais tratamentos na primeira época de semeadura e interação com à aplicação do adubo biológico para estas variedades nas segunda época de semeadura. Com relação ás características microbiológicas do solo, houve interação entre os tratamentos somente com a aplicação da adubação biológica na segunda época de semeadura.

This paper aimed to evaluate the transmission of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum (FOV) and the effects of this pathogen on the initial development of cotton plants following inoculation of seeds. Two cultivars (susceptible and resistant) and two strains (most and least aggressive) of the pathogen were used in this study. The inoculation method was based on the contact between seeds and fungal colonies on substrates containing mannitol. Percentage of FOV in seeds and the percentage of seed germination were evaluated by blother test and germination test, after inoculation. Emergence of seedlings and speed index, initial and final stands, size and dry weight of the plants were verified in trays containing soil substrate. Disease severity, pathogen transmission and plant infection, from seed to plant, were determined in separate trial on plants. Occurrence of the pathogen was higher when inoculum potential was increased for all variables analyzed. The number of normal seedlings, determined by seed germination test, decreased when the incidence of the pathogen in the seed was increased. The same occurred to other variables, in which there was difference between cultivars where IAC 20-233 presented the best performance. No significant differences were found between strains for emergence speed index, initial and final stands variables. Transmission and infection rates were increased according to the inoculum potentials increasing and the maximum pathogen transmission rate, from seed to plant was around 50%. O estudo foi realizado no Assentamento Vale do Sol I no municipio de Tangara da Serra/MT, caracterizado como propriedade de agricultura familiar. A presente pesquisa de extensao rural teve como objetivo realizar a identificacao e o monitoramento de doencas na cultura da berinjela. Inicialmente foi realizada a coleta de material vegetal na propriedade para identificacao. Identificou-se a verrugose, podridao de choanephora e fumagina. Em seguida, realizou-se o monitoramento com a utilizacao de escalas diagramaticas de porcentagem de area foliar afetada e escalas de notas, sendo posteriormente calculada a severidade e a incidencia de cada doenca. Foi verificado que a verrugose e a podridao de choanephora causaram danos nas flores e frutos, enquanto a fumagina causou danos indiretos produzindo estruturas de coloracao escuras sobre as folhas. Ocorreu aumento da incidencia e da severidade da podridao de choanephora durante a fase reprodutiva. Em detrimento dessas doencas a produtividade caiu de 40 t ha-1 para 28 t ha-1, evidenciando que existem doencas nesta cultura que devem ser controladas para se obter producao em quantidade e qualidade desejada.

Several traits must be observed in the selection of sour passion fruit progenies. For such, selection indices could be used for gradually increasing the frequency of favorable genotypes for the set of the traits of interest. This study aimed to compare parametric and non-parametric selection indices to be used in the selection of passion fruit progenies and identify the best economic weights. Thus, 118 full-sib families and three controls were assessed for days regarding flowering, productivity in kg ha-1 year, fruit mass in g, number of fruits, average length of fruits in mm, average fruit diameter in mm, fruit shape, average shell thickness in mm, pulp yield, pulp color, total soluble solids, titratable acidity and SS/ATT ratio. The non-parametric selection indexes used to obtain genetic gains were Mulamba and Mock, genotype-ideotype distance, multiplicative and Elston. Smith and Hazel, Williams and Pesek and Baker parametric indexes were used, with different economic weights attributed. The Mulamba and Mock, genotype-ideotype distance nonparametric selection indexes and the Williams parametric index showed satisfactory and balanced gains. The genetic variation coefficient, genetic standard deviation and random weight economic weights provided higher gains for non-parametric selection indexes. Similar gains were obtained for parametric indexes, regardless of assigned weight, except for Pesek and Baker, whose genetic standard deviation provided the highest gain. Resumo Na seleção de progênies de maracujazeiro-azedo, várias características devem ser observadas. Uma alternativa é o uso de índices de seleção que visem a melhorar gradativamente as frequências de genótipos favoráveis para o conjunto de características de interesse. O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar índices de seleção paramétricos e não paramétricos na seleção de progênies de maracujazeiro-azedo e identificar os melhores pesos econômicos. Desta forma, 118 famílias de irmãos completos e três testemunhas foram avaliadas para dias para o florescimento, produtividade em kg ha-1 ano, massa de frutos em g, número de frutos, comprimento médio dos frutos em mm, diâmetro médio de frutos em mm, formato de fruto, espessura média de casca em mm, rendimento de polpa, coloração da polpa, teor de sólidos solúveis totais, acidez total titulável e ratio. Os índices de seleção não paramétricos empregados para a obtenção dos ganhos genéticos foram Mulamba e Mock, distância genótipo ideótipo, multiplicativo e Elston, e os índices paramétricos foram de Smith e Hazel, Williams e Pesek e Baker, com a atribuição de diferentes pesos econômicos. Os índices de seleção não paramétricos de Mulamba e Mock, distância genótipo ideótipo e o índice paramétrico de Williams apresentaram ganhos satisfatórios e equilibrados. Os pesos econômicos coeficiente de variação genético, desvio-padrão genético e peso aleatório proporcionaram maiores ganhos para os índices de seleção não paramétricos; para os índices paramétricos, os ganhos foram semelhantes, independentemente do peso atribuído, exceto para o índice de Pesek e Baker, em que o desvio-padrão genético proporcionou o maior ganho.

The analyze of the El Niño, La Niña, and Neutral years phenomena and their influence on the temporal distribution of precipitation and air temperature is of great importance in agricultural systems, with the view to adapt crop management in order to reduce the risks of losses, optimizing rainwater and contributing to food security. The aim of this paper was to characterize variations in annual, monthly, and dekads rainfall in normal years and in those in the two extreme ENSO events in the municipalities of Tangará da Serra, Rondonópolis, and Sinop, in Mato Grosso state. Historic data were used, from INMET and ANA, covering 1970 to 2016. Probable annual precipitation was determined via the gamma distribution. In the three municipalities studied, the period considered as rainy falls between October and April and the dry season falls between May and September. The average annual rainfall for the municipalities is 1800, 1900, and 1500 mm, for Tangará da Serra, Sinop, and Rondonópolis, respectively. The effects of the ENSO, besides causing a 100 mm reduction in average annual precipitation, also cause little summers (“veranicos”) in the months of November and February. The municipalities of Tangará da Serra, Rondonópolis, and Sinop presented high levels of rainfall in Neutral years. The effects of the ENSO reduce rainfall levels but increase the number of rainy days. The Neutral years are more suitable to agriculture at regions of Mato Grosso State, followed by El Niño years, with concentrated rainy period and La Niña, with higher occurrence of veranicos, that maybe mitigated with use of irrigations systems.

Geostatistics as a methodology for studying the spatiotemporal dynamics of Ramularia areola in cotton crops. Geostatistics is a tool that has been used to study plant pathology, by modeling the spatiotemporal pattern of diseases, generating hypotheses about their epidemiological aspects in order to use tactics and strategies of rational control. The objective of this study was to use geostatistics to study the spatiotemporal dynamics of Ramularia areola in cotton crops. The experiment was conducted at the experimental area of Mato Grosso State University-Tangara da Serra campus, and arranged in a 2 × 3 factorial design, with randomized blocks, with two spaicngs (0.45 and 0.90 cm) and three conditions of soil coverage (no cover, P. glaucum and C. spectabilis). Geostatistical analysis of data was performed using data from temporal and spatial progress of R. areola, obtained through assessments of the incidence and severity of the disease in plants, and spatial dependence, and analyzed using semivariogram fittings. Through the isotropic exponential semivariogram model, it was possible to check the distribution pattern and spatial dependence of Ramularia leaf spot. Spatial dependence was observed for the disease—moderate to strong for most data evaluated. The pathogen spread from the primary source of inoculum, from the center portion towards the edges, forming foci originating from a source of secondary inoculum.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic performance and estimate the genetic divergence of 18 cotton genotypes grown in the main season (sowed in December, 2012) and off season (sowed in January, 2013), considering their agronomic characteristics and resistance to Ramularia leaf spot. A randomized block experimental design was used, with five replications. The characteristics evaluated were plant height, first branch height, position of first fruiting branch, height of first fruiting branch, length between nodes, number of nodes, average number of bolls per plant, average boll weight, area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) related to the Ramularia leaf spot severity, weight of 100-seed from the plant middle third, fiber percentage, average production per plant, yield and cotton fiber quality. The results were subjected to individual and joint analysis of variance and the genetic divergence was estimated according to multivariate procedures (Mahalanobis' generalized distance and Tocher's optimization method). The dissimilarity matrices were summed to estimate the genetic divergence, considering both growing periods. Genetic variability was found among the genotypes evaluated, in both the main season and off season. The characteristic that most contributed to the genetic divergence in the main season was the production per plant and, in the off season, was the fiber percentage. According to the results of the present work, the crosses between the genotypes BRS-335 and FMT-707; FM-910 and FMT-707; and IMA-08-12427 and FMT-707 are recommended. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o comportamento agronômico e estimar a divergência genética entre 18 genótipos de algodeiro, com base em características agronômicas e de resistência à mancha de ramulária. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso com cinco repetições, em duas épocas de plantio, sendo em safra (dezembro de 2012) e safrinha (janeiro de 2013). As características avaliadas foram: altura da planta, altura do primeiro ramo, posição do primeiro ramo frutífero, altura do primeiro ramo frutífero em centímetros, comprimento entre nós, número de nós, número médio de capulhos por planta, peso médio por capulho, área abaixo da curva de progresso da severidade da mancha de ramulária (AACPS), peso de cem sementes no terço médio, porcentagem de fibra, produção média por planta, produtividade e as caracteristicas tecnológicas da fibra do algodão.Foi realizada a análise de variância individual e conjunta das características avaliadas e estimada a divergência genética com base nos procedimentos multivariados de distância generalizada de Mahalanobis e o método de agrupamento de otimização de Tocher. Para estimar a divergência genética considerando as duas safras, as matrizes de dissimilaridade foram somadas. Houve variabilidade genética entre os genótipos testados, tanto em condições de safra como de safrinha. As características que mais contribuíram para a divergência genética foram a produção por planta na safra e a porcentagem de fibra na safrinha. Com os resultados deste trabalho sugere-se cruzamentos entre os genótipos BRS 335 e FMT 707, FM 910 e FMT 707, IMA 08-12427 e FMT 707.

The objective of this work was to evaluate Fusarium guttiforme inoculation methods and genetic resistance of pineapple accessions. Thus, three experiments were conducted: pathogen inoculation of different leaf types (B, D and F) of pineapple (1), pathogen inoculation of pineapple cuttings and detached D leaves (2), and identification of resistance to fusariosis in 19 pineapple accessions (3) sampled in the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The cultivars Pérola (susceptible to fusariosis) and BRS-Vitória (resistant to fusariosis) were used as controls. The fusariosis severity was evaluated at 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 days after inoculation with F. guttiforme. The lesion diameters (severity level) were used in order to calculate the area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC). The inoculation of detached D leaves was the most efficient, fast and inexpensive method, and the one that most satisfactorily reproduced the disease symptoms. The period of 10 to 20 days after inoculation of the D detached leaves with the pathogen is the most suitable to evaluate the resistance of pineapple accessions to fusariosis. The lowest lesion area and AUDPC was found in the accession 1, in all evaluations. Thus, the accession 1 can be used in pineapple breeding programs for resistance to fusariosis. Objetivou-se avaliar métodos de inoculação de Fusarium guttiforme e a resistência genética em acessos de abacaxizeiro. Para isso, foram realizados três experimentos, a saber: 1- inoculações em folhas de abacaxizeiro dos tipos B, D e F; 2- inoculações em folhas “D” destacadas e em mudas de abacaxizeiro e 3- identificação de resistência à fusariose em 19 acessos de abacaxizeiros coletados no estado de Mato Grosso. As cultivares Pérola (suscetível à fusariose) e BRS-Vitória (resistente à fusariose) foram utilizadas como testemunhas. As avaliações de severidade da fusariose foram conduzidas aos 10, 15, 20, 25 e 30 dias, após inoculação de F. guttiforme. Foram utilizados os diâmetros das lesões (quantificação da severidade), para o cálculo da área abaixo da curva de progresso da doença (AACPD). Dentre os métodos avaliados, observou-se que o método de inoculação em folhas D destacadas foi o mais eficiente, rápido e de baixo custo, além de reproduzir satisfatoriamente os sintomas da doença. O período indicado para avaliar acessos resistentes a fusariose é entre 10 e 20 dias após inoculação do patógeno, em folhas D destacadas. No acesso 1 foi observada menor área de lesão e AACPD, em todas as avaliações realizadas. Este acesso pode ser recomendado para compor programas de melhoramento do abacaxizeiro visando resistência à fusariose.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the progress of the areolate mildew of cotton under different soil cover and spacing conditions. The experiment was carried out using randomized blocks and a 2 × 3 factorial design, with two spacings (0.45 m and 0.90 m) and three soil covers (no cover, Pennisetum glaucum and Crotalaria spectabilis) with four replications. The plants were inoculated with R. areola, sixty DAS. A total of 14 evaluations of disease severity were performed. At the lower, middle and upper thirds of plants, a diagram scale with nine levels of severity was used and the resulting data were converted into the AUDPC. Gompertz, logistic, and monomolecular mathematical models were tested in the disease severity curves for each third. Agronomics characteristics were evaluated as well. Significant differences of AUDPC were found for the cotton plants thirds, and the middle third was the highest AUDPC. Significant difference for the lower and upper thirds, whose AUDPC were highest on 0.90 m spacing, was observed too. The disease progress curves of the thirds did not fit the tested models. Significant results to the both covers situations, where the treatments grown on crotalaria cover and without cover had highest AUDPC, were evidenced. The treatments with C. spectabilis cover were taller than other treatments. Significant data were observed for the cover crops used and in the treatments grown at 0.90 m spacing, to residual cover and crop yield, respectively.

Técnicas de Microscopia de luz e eletrônica de varredura (MEV) foram utilizadas para acompanhar o desenvolvimento de Phakopsora pachyrhizi desde a inoculação de urediniósporos até a formação de soros urediniais em folíolos de soja. Gotas com 50 µL de suspensão com 3x10(4) urediniósporos.mL-1 foram depositadas sobre folíolos destacados de sete cultivares e duas PIs (PI 230970 e PI459025), que foram acondicionados em bandejas e incubados em BOD a 23 ± 2 ºC. Foram retiradas amostras em tempos de 4 a 240h após a inoculação (h.a.i.). Amostras foram submetidas ao clareamento em ácido acético/etanol absoluto (1:1, v/v), e a preparação para MEV. Nas PI 429025 e PI 230970 observou-se as mais baixas porcentagens de germinação de urediniósporos (20 a 35 %) e formação de apressórios (11 a 23,5 %), respectivamente. Nestes genótipos, a formação de apressório iniciou-se com 6 horas, enquanto nos demais, com 4 horas. Na cultivar BRS 154 observou-se a maior porcentagem de germinação (85,5 %) e maior porcentagem de formação de apressórios (66,5 %). Nas outras cultivares, as taxas de germinação encontradas variaram de 42 a 73,5 % e as de formação de apressório de 21,5 a 60,5 %. Em MEV foi possível observar vários dos eventos de pré e pós-penetração os quais apresentaram diferenças, em relação às informações já observadas na literatura. Light (LE) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to study the development of Phakopsora pachyrhizi from urediniospore germination to colonization on soybean. Drops of 50 µL of a spore suspension (3 x 10(4) urediniospores.mL-1) were inoculated on detached leaflets of seven cultivars, besides the genotypes PI 230970 and PI 459025. After inoculation, leaflets were stored in BOD at 23 ± 2 ± 2 ºC for incubation. Samples were taken from four to 240 hours after the inoculation (h.a.i.), submitted to the process of fixation for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and decolorized into a solution of absolute ethanol/acetic acid (1:1, v/v). In decolorized samples differences were observed among cultivars in percentage of germination, appressorium formation and consequently in the penetration. On PI 429025 the lowest percentage of germinated urediniospores (20%) and of appressoria formation (11 %) was observed, and the cultivar BRS 154 presented a higher percentage of both germination (85.5 %) and appressoria formation (66.5 %). Among other cultivars the percentage of germination was from 42% to 73.5 % and from 21.5 to 60.5 % for appressoria formation. Several events in the colonization process observed by SEM were different from those in the literature.

The use of DNA sequences analysis has been an important mean to distinguish and to identify populations of organisms at different levels. By molecular markers several complex organisms have been successful detected in plants for distinct aims. Ribosomal DNA (rDNA) has been used to evaluate genetic variability, microorganism phylogeny and to develop specific primers for detection of plant pathogens in plant tissues. In this study, the objective was to characterize isolates of Colletotrichum gossypii var. cephalosporioides and Colletotrichum gossypii , collected in different regions of Brazil, by analyzing the nucleotide sequence of rDNA regions. ITS1, ITS2, and the intervening 5.8S gene were amplified by PCR and their sequences compared to each other and to those from other species registered in the GenBank. The rDNA of isolates associated with Gossypium spp. showed sequence identities ranging from 96 to 100% in the ITS1 region, 98 to 100% in the 5.8S gene, and 97 to 100% in the ITS2 region. The sequences were submitted to UPGMA analysis, and according to the phylogenetic trees, the C . gossypii var. cephalosporioides and C. gossypii species clustered together along with isolates of Glomerella cingulata from mango and papaya, and thus no distinction could be made between isolates of those organisms.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes métodos de armazenamento na viabilidade de urediniósporos de P. pachyrhizi. Para isso foram armazenadas folhas herborizadas com urediniossoros (24°C); urediniósporos em dessecador (10°C) + nitrogênio líquido (-196°C) após 60 dias, geladeira (4°C), deep-freezer (de -60 a -80°C) e nitrogênio líquido. A cada trinta dias avaliou-se à porcentagem de germinação em meio ágar-água 2% à temperatura de 25°C. Urediniósporos armazenados em nitrogênio líquido apresentaram maior porcentagem de germinação ao final das avaliações (270 dias). Urediniósporos armazenados em dessecador apresentaram 0% de germinação aos 60 dias e quando transferidos para o nitrogênio líquido voltaram a apresentar até 30% germinação. Urediniósporos armazenados nas demais condições apresentaram grande redução na germinação no primeiro mês e com 90 dias esta chegou a zero. Concluiu-se que o melhor método de armazenamento para urediniósporos de P. pachyrhizi foi o nitrogênio líquido.The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different storage methods on the viability of the urediniospores of P. pachyrhizi. Urediniospores were collected and stored in five different conditions: detached dry leaves (24°C), desiccator (10°C) + liquid nitrogen (-196°C) after 60 days, refrigerator (4°C), deep-freezer (from -60°C to 80°C) and liquid nitrogen (-196°C). The percentage of germination from stored urediniospores was evaluated every thirty days in water-agar medium. Urediniospores stored in liquid nitrogen presented the highest germination percentage after 270 days of storage. In desiccator, the germination was zero at ninety days of evaluation, and when urediniospores were transferred to and kept in liquid nitrogen, the germination was up to 30%. The urediniospores stored under others conditions presented a decline in germination at sixty days and at the ninety days the germination declined to zero. Based on these results, the most efficient way of storing urediniospores of P. pachyrhizi was using liquid nitrogen.

Knowledge of the spatial variability of rainfall in the state of Mato Grosso is very important in decision mak­ing, especially in agriculture, aiming at proper planning and optimization of water resources to reduce envi­ronmental impacts and increase profitability. The spatial distribution of this variable through geostatistical methods has been highlighted, but it is needed to select the best semivariance model for proper data inter­polation. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the spatial and temporal variability of rainfall in the state of Mato Grosso by ordinary kriging, referring to ten-day periods in October and January, a period of great importance for the soybean crop and the cultivation of second crop corn. It was used the 75th percen­tile of the rainfall of 177 state posts of Mato Grosso and neighboring states. It was observed, through the RE, SDRE and GD values, that the exponential model adjusted better to the semivariograms. Spatial variability was observed in all the analyzed periods of ten days, and the north region of the state is the one which starts the rainy season and that has the highest rainfall rates. The ten-day average rainfall in October did not exceed 20 mm, resulting in the germination and establishment of soybean in the field, and the ten-day aver­age for January was close to 52 mm, which is considered to be harmful to the mechanical harvesting of early maturing soybeans and favorable to the grain filling of the varieties with average and late cycle, being still beneficial to the cultivation of second crop corn.

Objetivou-se avaliar a severidade e o progresso da ramulose no campo a partir de diferentes tempos de exposicao das sementes de algodoeiro ao fungo Colletotrichum gossypii var. cephalosporioides. O experimento foi conduzido com cinco tratamentos e quatro repeticoes. Os tratamentos foram compostos por parcelas contendo 5% de sementes inoculadas nos tempos 0, 36, 72, 96 e 108 h de exposicao ao patogeno. As avaliacoes foram feitas dos 46 dias ate os 111 dias apos a semeadura e os dados transformados para area abaixo da curva de progresso da incidencia (AACPI) e da severidade (AACPS) da doenca. Observou-se que a incidencia de C. gossypii var. cephalosporioides cresceu de acordo com o aumento do tempo de exposicao das sementes ao patogeno, chegando a 99% de incidencia no tempo 108 h. Por outro lado, houve reducao na germinacao das sementes conforme o aumento no tempo de exposicao, de 99%, no tempo 36 horas, para 92%, no tempo 108 horas. A AACPI e a AACPS da doenca foram maiores com o aumento do tempo de exposicao das sementes ao patogeno, observando-se o progresso da incidencia (93,1%) e da severidade (42,5%) no maior tempo de exposicao das sementes (108 h) em relacao a testemunha.

Soybean Glycine max L. Merr. is cultivated in several tropical and subtropical regions of the world. United States (USA) and Brazil are the world's largest producers and exporters of oilseed (Agrianual, 2008; Miyasaka & Medina, 1981). Despite the high production and export of Brazilian soybeans, many factors have affected the quality or quantity of production of that crop, causing reduction in financial returns per unit area, such as disease epidemics. Among the diseases, powdery mildew, whose etiologic agent is Microsphaera diffusa Cke. & Pk., suddenly began to cause significant damage in soybean, despite having a broad host range and have been reported in Brazil, Canada, Republic of China, India, Puerto Rico, South Africa, United States (Sinclair, 1999), Germany, Argentina and Bolivia (Sartorato & Yorinori, 2001) . According to Yorinori & Hiromoto (1998), crops widely affected by the disease, had estimated reductions between 30 and 40% of yield, in the same order of magnitude as those reported abroad by Dunleavy (1978) and Philips (1984). The susceptibility of cultivars and the influence of climate favored epidemics with high rates of disease progress, in successive years in Brazil. Considering the lack of resistance of most of the cultivars, chemical control is required, especially in the south and the high plains of the savannah biome (Sartorato & Yorinori, 2001). In 1996/97, epidemics of powdery mildew in soybean in a great extent of Brazil, from the Central West region to the Rio Grande do Sul state, resulted in average losses of 15 and 20% in susceptible cultivars, with extremes ranging from 50 to 60% (Yorinori & Hiromoto, 1998 ; Seganfredo & Silva, 1999). M. diffusa is distinguished from M. polygoni by presenting cleistothecium with appendages forked at its end (Sartorato & Yorinori, 2001; Grau, 1975). The fungus is an obligate parasite that develops throughout the soybean shoot, including leaves, stems, petioles and pods. Symptoms can range from chlorosis, green islands, rusty spots, defoliation or severe combination of these symptoms, depending on the reaction of cultivars. Chlorotic spots and necrosis on the leaf veins indicate a hypersensitivity reaction. However, the most obvious is the very structure and powdery white fungus on the surface of infected parts (Yorinori, 1982; Yorinori, 1986, Tanaka et al., 1993; Yorinori et al., 1993; Sinclair, 1999; Sartorato &

Here we show that adult rats that had been exposed to in utero GCs (iuGC) display increased preference for opiates and ethanol, and are more responsive to the psychostimulatory actions of morphine. These animals presented prominent changes in the nucleus accumbens (NAcc), a key component of the mesolimbic reward circuitry; specifically, cell numbers and dopamine (DA) levels were significantly reduced, whereas DA receptor 2 (Drd2) mRNA expression levels were markedly upregulated in the NAcc. Interestingly, repeated morphine exposure significantly downregulated Drd2 expression in iuGC-exposed animals, in parallel with increased DNA methylation of the Drd2 gene. Administration of a therapeutic dose of L-dopa reverted the hypodopaminergic state in the NAcc of iuGC animals, normalized Drd2 expression and prevented morphine-induced hypermethylation of the Drd2 promoter. In addition, L-dopa treatment promoted dendritic and synaptic plasticity in the NAcc and, importantly, reversed drug-seeking behavior. A avaliação da qualidade fisiológica de lotes de sementes de Sesbania virgata é dificultada pela dormência inerente à espécie, bem como pela inadequação metodológica de testes disponíveis. Para desenvolver procedimentos adequados à avaliação da qualidade das sementes de S. virgata, foram avaliados métodos tanto para quebra de dormência como para realização do teste de tetrazólio. Em uma primeira fase, as sementes de cinco lotes foram submetidas a tratamentos para quebra de dormência: lixa, ácido e corte do tegumento, previamente ao teste de germinação. Para caracterização dos lotes e adequação da metodologia do teste de tetrazólio, na segunda fase, as sementes foram lixadas na região oposta ao eixo embrionário, e submetidas aos seguintes testes: tetrazólio, germinação, velocidade de emergência, peso de matéria fresca e de matéria seca de plântulas. Foram utilizados dois métodos de pré-condicionamento: embebição em papel por 18 h a 30 ºC e imersão em água por 12 h a 30 ºC e três períodos (uma, duas e três horas) de imersão em solução de tetrazólio 0,5%. Na análise do perfil dos lotes de S. virgata foram detectadas variações na qualidade fisiológica pelos resultados dos testes de vigor e germinação. O método de escarificação com lixa possibilitou a quebra de dormência das sementes de S. virgata,e o pré-condicionamento das sementes em papel com embebição em solução de tetrazólio 0,5% por duas horas é um procedimento adequado para avaliação da viabilidade das sementes. The evaluation of Sesbania virgata seed physiological quality is hampered by its intrinsic seed dormancy and inadequate methodologies among available tests. To develop an adequate procedure to evaluate S. virgata seed quality, methods for dormancy breaking and tetrazolium test accomplishment were evaluated. In a first stage, seeds from five lots were submitted to dormancy breaking methods: sandpaper, acid and tegument cuts, followed by germination tests. To characterize lots and adapt a tetrazolium-test, in a second stage, seeds were sanded in the area opposite to the embryonic axis and submitted to the following tests: tetrazolium, germination, vigor index, fresh and dry weight. Two preconditioning conditions (soaked paper for 18 h at 30 ºC and immersion in water for 12 h at 30 ºC) and three immersion timespan (one, two and three hours) in tetrazolium solution 0.5 % were used. In the S. virgata lot profile analysis, variations were detected in its physiological quality according to vigor index and germination results. Scarification method with sandpaper better broke S. virgata seed dormancy, and preconditioning seeds in soaked paper followed by immersion in tetrazolium solution for two hours was the appropriate procedure to assess seed viability.

A disponibilidade de sementes com diferentes níveis de infecção por fungos, transmissíveis por esta via, é importante na realização de diversos estudos. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar procedimentos de inoculação e períodos de exposição das sementes de algodoeiro ao Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum (Fov), por meio da técnica de restrição hídrica, capazes de proporcionar elevados índices de infecção. Para isso, foram comparados os métodos: 1) imersão das sementes por 10 min em suspensão de conídios (10(6) conídios/mL) com incubação, em seguida, em substrato com potencial osmótico de -1,0 MPa; 2) atomização de suspensão de conídios (10(6) conídios/mL) sobre o substrato e sobre as sementes, e 3) contato direto das sementes com o micélio do fungo previamente desenvolvido no substrato de papel. Todos os métodos permitiram a obtenção de sementes com diferentes potenciais de inóculo, equivalentes aos diferentes tempos de exposição, 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, 96 h e 120 h, ao substrato contendo ou não o fungo previamente desenvolvido. As avaliações neste ensaio foram feitas por meio dos testes de germinação em rolo de papel, emergência em solo/areia e sanidade. O método mais eficaz foi o de imersão das sementes na suspensão de conídios com incubação em substrato de papel com restrição hídrica. O período de tempo que as sementes devem ficar em contato com o patógeno, sem afetar a sua qualidade fisiológica, é de 53 h a 57 h.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different storage methods on the viability of the urediniospores of P. pachyrhizi. Urediniospores were collected and stored in five different conditions: detached dry leaves (24°C), desiccator (10°C) + liquid nitrogen (-196°C) after 60 days, refrigerator (4°C), deep-freezer (from -60°C to 80°C) and liquid nitrogen (-196°C). The percentage of germination from stored urediniospores was evaluated every thirty days in water-agar medium. Urediniospores stored in liquid nitrogen presented the highest germination percentage after 270 days of storage. In desiccator, the germination was zero at ninety days of evaluation, and when urediniospores were transferred to and kept in liquid nitrogen, the germination was up to 30%. The urediniospores stored under others conditions presented a decline in germination at sixty days and at the ninety days the germination declined to zero. Based on these results, the most efficient way of storing urediniospores of P. pachyrhizi was using liquid nitrogen.

Objetivou-se no presente trabalho caracterizar o progresso espaço-temporal da severidade da antracnose do feijoeiro comum e da ramulose do algodoeiro por meio da Geoestatística. Os experimentos foram conduzidos no campo, durante o período das águas, em diferentes épocas. Sementes inoculadas pelo método da restrição hídrica foram semeadas no centro de parcelas experimentais constituindo fonte de inóculo do tipo ponto. Foram realizadas semanalmente seis avaliações da severidade das doenças com base em escalas de notas. Pelos modelos de semivariograma isotrópicos esféricos e gaussianos ajustados aos dados, verificou-se o padrão de distribuição agregado e a dependência espacial de ambos os patossistemas. Com o mapeamento da severidade das doenças pelo método da krigagem ordinária em blocos, verificou-se menor severidade das doenças nos primeiros estádios, com aumento gradual ao longo do tempo. A antracnose apresentou formação inicial de focos de inóculo secundário, além do foco com inóculo inicial, que coalesceram com o tempo. A severidade da ramulose diminuiu gradualmente de forma radial e contínua do centro da parcela para as extremidades, com maior capacidade de infecção de plantas vizinhas, quando comparada à antracnose, possivelmente pela maior agressividade do patógeno e hábito de crescimento arbustivo do algodoeiro. The aim of this work was the characterization of the space-time severity progress of the common bean Anthracnose and cotton Ramulose through Geoestatistics. The experiments were conducted over different periods during the rainy season, in field conditions. Seeds inoculated by the water restriction method were sowed in the center of experimental plots standing as inoculum source of point type. Six evaluations of the epidemics’ severity were done weekly following disease diagrams. The clustered pattern and the spatial dependence in both pathosystems were verified with isotropic spherical and gaussian semivariogram models adjusted to the data. With the ordinary block kriging method, it was possible to verify that the severity of the diseases was lower in the first stages, becoming higher over time in both epidemics. Anthracnose presented initially secondary inoculum focus formation besides the focus with initial inoculum with later coalescence. The severity of Ramulose decreased gradually, both radially and smoothly from the center of the plot to the borders, with a larger capacity to infect neighboring plants, when compared to the Anthracnose, possibly due to the fungi’s aggressiveness and to the cotton plant’s shrubby growth habit.
