Purpose: This study aimed to analyze and define the concept of readiness for hospital discharge (RHD) in patients with myocardial infarction (MI). Design/methodology/approach: Walker and Avant's approach was used for concept analysis. Electronic text searches were performed using valid databases with "readiness for hospital discharge" and "MI" keywords. The research included quantitative and qualitative studies related to RHD published between 1997 and 2021 in English and Persian. Out of 103 obtained articles, 29 met the inclusion criteria. Findings: In the analysis, the authors identified stable physical state, desirable individual and social conditions, psychological stability, adequate support, adequate information and knowledge, and multidisciplinary care as the attributes of the determinants of RHD. Antecedents were divided into two categories, including preadmission conditions (economic and social, etc.) and postadmission conditions (disease severity and patient health needs, etc). The consequences were also identified as both positive (e.g. self-care) and side effects (e.g. reduced readmission). Originality/value: The results showed that the concept of RHD in MI patients is a complex and multidimensional condition that applies to all patients on discharge. It is critical for the care team to pay attention to its attributes and scopes in the process of preparing the patient for discharge. It is also suggested that the concept be used as a nursing diagnosis on the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA) list. The Association provides nurses with an up-to-date list of nursing diagnoses.

Background Older people abuse includes intentional or unintentional conduct or omission of a specific behavior by a trusted person that causes injury or distress to older people. This study described older peoples’ perceptions of abuse in Iranian society. Methods This qualitative study applied a conventional content analysis method to understand the perceptions of abuse among older Iranian people. Twenty older residents were selected by purposeful sampling. Data were collected through in-depth, semi-structured, and face-to-face interviews. The six-step Graneheim and Lundman content analysis method guided data analysis. MAXQDA software version 10 was used to manage the data. Results The data analysis led to the identification of three main themes: broken toughness, hidden abuse, and exploitation. The first theme had two sub-themes: domination and disturbed peace and tranquility. Conclusion Abuse resulted from a combination of causes and factors. Abuse was hidden in many cases and was not limited to physical abuse. The other examples of abuse included disrespect, deprivation of authority, disturbed tranquility, and financial exploitation of older adults.

Aim. This study was conducted to determine the association between knowledge management and social value among nurses working in hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Background. Knowledge management plays a significant role in healthcare systems. Healthcare providers require knowledge in every aspect of their work, and they must be able to rely on a knowledge management system to access the newest research and practice to ensure the highest quality of care. One of the evident goals of knowledge management is creating value in organizations. Creating value does not necessarily mean creating economic value, but creating social value is a category proposed as a prerequisite for knowledge management. Methods. This research is a descriptive‐analytical study conducted in Tehran in 2021 on two groups of nurses (N = 228) selected through a stratified random method. The data collection tools were Choi knowledge management questionnaire and a researcher‐made questionnaire on social value validated in Iranian society. Results. There was a positive and significant correlation between the variables of knowledge management and social value in Bachelor of Science (BSc) nurses (P value ≤0.01, r = 0.43), and no significant correlation was observed in Master of Science (MSc) nurses (P value >0.05, r = 0.14). Conclusions. In the BSc nurses' group, a direct and significant association was found between knowledge management and social value of BSc nurses so that by increasing the score of knowledge management in the nursing community, individuals feel more self‐worth, resulting in achieving a favorable level of customer satisfaction. Implication for Nursing Management. It is suggested that an accurate program should be designed for all academic levels of nurses in hospitals, the principal elements of creating knowledge and learning and its provision should be assessed, and the necessary measures should be taken. The prevalence of patients on mechanical ventilation who are being supported at home is increasing. Due to these patients' complex and chronic conditions, the subjective burden on their family caregivers increases after discharge. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a supportive home care program on the caregiver burden of families caring for patients on invasive mechanical ventilation at home. Sixty patients hospitalized in three university-affiliated hospitals in Tehran, Iran between 7/2020 and 8/2021 were randomly assigned to one of two groups: A supportive home care program, and routine hospital education. The supportive home care program included six educational sessions delivered in the hospital before discharge, and home visits and continued education after discharge. Caregiver burden was measured using the Zarit Burden Interview. Results showed that caregiver burden increased significantly (p ≥.001) after discharge without the supportive home care program intervention. Follow-up by nurses after discharge is essential to reduce the psychological burden of caring for patients on invasive mechanical ventilation at home. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
