In this project, the creation and application of computer-based fault detection methods for transmission lines with multiple terminals are discussed.These methods are part of a fault-finding system that precisely locates the fault site by using voltage and current signal measurements from smart electronic devices installed on transmission-line terminals. The transformer loading, connection type, and electrical characteristics are all data that the algorithms have access to. The power system components used by the fault-location techniques are likewise presented in this project’s phase component models.

Many AC Microgrids required an inverter for converting power from DC to AC. Many control techniques are available and need a flexible control method which can able to regulate both the voltage at DC and AC side. The DQ method is developed in this paper by incorporated with space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique. A distribution generator (DG) is considered in this paper for connecting to utility grid through an inverter controlled by proposed double loop control technique. One voltage controlled loop and one current controlled loop are used in proposed control method to regulate both voltage and current. This paper showcases comprehensive findings using MATLAB/Simulink.

Power electronics pertains to a category of devices that convert electrical power from one form to another. Semiconductor devices act as switches in power electronics circuits, serving as the central components responsible for voltage regulation. Power electronics circuits strive to convert electrical energy from one form to another, from source to load, while minimizing cost, size, and weight as much as possible. The term “rectification” refers to the power circuit which alters the ac characteristic of the line electric power in order to supply “rectified” ac power with a dc value at the load side. The rectifier is utilized to convert alternating current (AC) voltage into direct current (DC) or low-frequency AC in order to power different load configurations. The AC mains are subjected to the injection of low order current harmonics by the Conventional Phase Controlled Rectifier. These harmonics necessitate the use of filtering components of considerable size for effective attenuation. The paper explores the simulation of the Converter through various PWM techniques, including space vector pulse width modulation and sinusoidal pulse width modulation.

The long transmission system is required to transfer generated power to distribution system. Hence, maximum power transfer devices with flexible operation are essential in transmission system. Thus, it is necessary to add Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices at the proper locations. Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is the best FACTS transmission system device for ensuring adequate power flow between generating and distribution via transmission lines. The UPFC consists of two converters which likely to work as STATCOM and SSSC to make a proper power flow. In this paper modeling and analysis of UPFC is presented under platform of MATLAB/Simulink. Extensive responses are incorporated in results section with proper analysis under various operating conditions.

Finding the Optimal power flow for a multi-bus power system with a TCSC is crucial for reducing system costs while maximizing performance. To identify the best solution in such systems, a genetic algorithm (GA) should be implemented with multi objective function by including minimization of losses, fuel consumption, and increase the system performance. The fuel consumption parameter and optimal power flow settings needs to be obtained by basic optimal power flow solution under various operating conditions in multi bus system. Both active power losses and reactive power compensation are taken into consideration by the objective function. An effective GA is used to evaluate the IEEE 30 and 75 bus system in order to find the best power flow when employing TCSC. This report presents MATLAB-based data to verify the suggested strategy.

The hybrid photovoltaic (PV)- wind based power generation systems are installing on many rooftops of individual houses, apartments, institutions, hospitals and small scale industries worldwide. Even though it is connected to single phase utility grid, a battery is used for backup power supply during power cuts. The diesel generators also can be integrated to this system for supplying continuous power long term. This configuration can establish a nanogrid under low power systems. Many loads are operated under this nanogrid system, hence a proper control technique is required to maintain power quality as well as to compensate reactive power. Compensating reactive power demanded in nanogrid through the inverter can reduce the reactive power demand on the main utility grid. Individual maximum power point tracker (MPPT) circuits are employed for both PV and wind to harvest maximum power. The system is synchronized with single phase utility grid through the control of the inverter. In order to maintain the good power quality, controller is designed for inverter to maintain the single phase voltages at its reference values. MATLAB Simulink platform is used to present the results for testing the performance of the proposed method.

The inverter system is an important piece of equipment for efficiently absorbing the electricity generated from renewable sources and ensuring reliable grid connections. As power electronics advance, inverter conversion efficiency is improving and photovoltaic (PV) energy is becoming a major contributor to the global supply of renewable energy. However, a key consideration is how reliable the PV inverters are. The dependability performance of PV inverters can be influenced by various environmental parameters, such as solar radiation and temperature (collectively referred to as Mission Profile). Given that these conditions vary by location, it is necessary to take them into account when evaluating the dependability performance of a PV inverter. The Mission Profile, including the local solar radiation and surrounding temperature, are important factors determining the lifespan of a PV inverter. This research examines how environmental variables and geographic position affect the dependability performance of PV converters and finds that these elements have a significant bearing on that performance.

Due to the intermittence of renewable sources, reliable customer service is not guaranteed unless hybrid-energy systems emerged with energy storage is employed together with an appropriate energy management system (EMS). Usually integrating different renewable energy sources can able to supply a reliable power to consumers. In this paper, an efficient EMS for a four-wire, 1000 kW Microgrid system is presented. The studied system consists of three wind farms and three solar plants with a central link to battery banks, an electrolyzer, and a fuel-cell system. A hybrid optimization algorithm is adapted to track the maximum power of PV arrays under variable weather and partial shading conditions. The tracking algorithm merges the benefits of the Whale Optimization and Perturb-and-Observe (P&O) technique. To track the maximum available power of wind plants, a P&O algorithm is established by calculating the proper duty cycle of a boost dc/dc converter that regulates the load current. A TS-Fuzzy-based controller for the inverter is applied to provide an acceptable power quality level associated with the battery bank, electrolyzer, and fuel cell. The suggested inverter controllers provide multi tasks such as reactive power compensator, voltage regulator under unbalanced loads, and active filter.
