The astrophysical s-process is one of the two main processes forming elements heavier than iron. A key outstanding uncertainty surrounding s-process nucleosynthesis is the neutron flux generated by the Ne22(α,n)25Mg reaction during the He-core and C-shell burning phases of massive stars. This reaction, as well as the competing Ne22(α,γ)26Mg reaction, is not well constrained in the important temperature regime from ∼0.2–0.4 GK, owing to uncertainties in the nuclear properties of resonances lying within the Gamow window. To address these uncertainties, we have performed a new measurement of the Ne22(Li6,d)26Mg reaction in inverse kinematics, detecting the outgoing deuterons and Mg25,26 recoils in coincidence. We have established a new n/γ decay branching ratio of 1.14(26) for the key Ex=11.32 MeV resonance in Mg26, which results in a new (α,n) strength for this resonance of 42(11)μeV when combined with the well-established (α,γ) strength of this resonance. We have also determined new upper limits on the α partial widths of neutron-unbound resonances at Ex=11.112, 11.163, 11.169, and 11.171 MeV. Monte-Carlo calculations of the stellar Ne22(α,n)25Mg and Ne22(α,γ)26Mg rates, which incorporate these results, indicate that both rates are substantially lower than previously thought in the temperature range from ∼0.2–0.4 GK.

In this study, limonene was encapsulated by using gelatine, Na-alginate, polyvinyl alcohol, lactalbumin or xanthan gum with the uniaxial electrospinning process. The highest encapsulation efficiency was obtained for the sample containing polyvinyl alcohol. The release kinetic studies of nanofibre encapsulated limonene were carried out at 5.5, 20, and 38.5 degrees C. The Peppas equation expressed the release behavior of limonene for all systems very well, indicating quasi-Fickian diffusion. The modelling data suggested that maybe more than one mechanism was involved for the release at 20 degrees C. The activation energy for releasing limonene from the electrospun polyvinyl alcohol-alginate encapsulation system was found to be 6.2 Id mol(-1) from the Arrhenius equation.

Bu çalışmada, Orta Karadeniz Geçit İklim Kuşağında bulunan Tokat yöresinde ikinci ürün silajlık mısır tarımında geleneksel toprak işleme yöntemi (kulaklı pulluk + kültüvatör + dişli tırmık) ve azaltılmış toprak işleme yöntemi (çizel + dişli tırmık) ile düze ve sırta ekim yöntemlerinin toprağın fiziksel özelliklerine, (toprak nem içeriği, hacim ağırlığı ve penetrasyon direnci), bitki çıkış (ortalama çimlenme süresi (OÇS), çimlenme oranı indeksi (ÇOİ) ve tarla filiz çıkış derecesi (TFÇD)) ve bitki gelişme parametreleri (bitki boyu, bitki sap çapı, yeşil ot ve kuru madde verimi) üzerine etkileri incelenmiştir. Nem içeriği, hacim ağırlığı ve penetrasyon değerleri, 0-10 cm derinlikte, % 24,39-% 25,42; 1,24-1,33 g/cm3 ve 0,58–1,18 MPa arasında değişirken, 10-20 cm derinlikte ise, % 25,65- % 25,95; 1,25–1,34 g/cm3; 0,95 – 1,60 MPa arasında değişmiştir. Bitkisel özellikler açısından, OÇS, ÇOİ ve TFÇD değerleri sırasıyla, 12,80-12,85 gün, 0,34–0,35 adet/m.gün ve % 86,11-88,61 arasında bulunmuştur. BACKGROUND: Mature cystic teratomas, often referred to as dermoid cysts, are the most common germ cell tumors of the ovary. In the recent years, transvaginal sonographic diagnosis of ovarian dermoid cysts together with laparoscopic approach have greatly improved the treatment of this benign lesion. We retrospectively reviewed the outcome of laparoscopic surgery for suspected ovarian dermoid cysts. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The preoperative findings, operative techniques and postoperative complications were retrospectively reviewed in women who underwent laparoscopic surgery for dermoid cysts, between January 2000 and May 2003. RESULTS: In 47 women aged 21 to 53 years (median, 38.8 years), 93.6% had a unilateral cyst with a diameter of 17 to 108 mm (median, 51 mm). Clinical presentations were pain (62%), abnormal vaginal bleeding (21%) and ovarian torsion (2%), whilst 17% were diagnosed incidentally during routine examination. Surgery included cystectomy (57%), total (36%) or partial oophorectomy (6.4%) and laparoscopy-assisted vaginal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (2%). During the cyst extraction, minimal spillage occurred in 42.5% of the cases and none developed chemical peritonitis. In 2 patients, conversion to laparotomy (4.3%) was required, one for sigmoid colon injury and one for malignant ovarian tumor detected via frozen section. The median operating time was 80 minutes (range, 35-180 minutes). CONCLUSION: Using strict adherence to guidelines for preoperative clinical assessment and intra-operative management, laparoscopic treatment of dermoid cysts appears to be a safe procedure.

Next, we give some applications to dynamical systems and causal linear processes. To prove our main result, we give a Central Limit Theorem for ergodic stationary sequences of random variables with values in L^1. In this study, the effects of conventional (mouldboard plough+ cultivator + spike tooth harrow) and conservational (reduced) tillage system (chisel + spike tooth harrow) and flat and ridge planting systems on soil physical properties (soil moisture content, bulk density and penetration resistance) and plant characteristics of second crop silage maize grown in Tokat province situated in Mid-Blacksea Transition Climate Belt were investigated. Plant emergence and harvesting properties investigated were mean emergence dates, emerged rate index, percentage of emerged seedling, plant height, stem diameter, silage yield and dry matter yield. Soil moisture content, bulk density and penetration resistance varied from 24.39 to 25.42 %, and from 1.24 to 1.33 g/cm3 , and from 0.58 to 1.60 MPa, at 0-10 cm soil depth respectively; the same properties varied from 24.65 to 25.95 %, and from 1.25 to 1.34 g/cm3 , and from 0.95 to 1.60 MPa, at 10-20 cm soil depth respectively. For plant properties; mean emerged dates, emerged rate index, and percentage of emerged varied from 12.80 to 12.85 days, and from 0.335 to 0.346 seedling/m day, and from 86.11 to 88.61, respectively. Plant height, stem diameter, silage yield and dry matter yield varied from 244.7 to 266.2 cm, from 2.88 to 3.13 cm, from 7525.89 to 7580.80 kg/da, and from 1523.36 to 1534.35 kg/da, respectively. The results indicated that soil moisture content, bulk density and penetration resistance in conservational tillage system were higher than the conventional tillage system. Ridge planting system yielded higher values than that of the flat planting system. The emerged rate index, and percentage of emerged seedling in conservational tillage and flat planting systems were lower than conventional tillage and ridge planting system. The mean plant height, stem diameter, silage yield and dry matter yield were higher in conservational tillage and ridge planting systems than the conventional tillage and flat planting systems. The results of this study indicated conservational tillage system and ridge planting system could be advised for the second crop sillage maize production.
