Scientific literature on Perfectionistic Self-Presentation (PSP) in the academic context is scarce. More studies are needed to understand when and to whom PSP becomes a risk factor for developing academic burnout and anxiety in students, and which factors influence this relationship. Based on the current scientific literature, PSP has been widely studied in relation to the imposter phenomenon (IP) and fear of failure. However, the link between possible psychological outcomes (specifically academic burnout and anxiety) and PSP, IP, and fear of failure remains unclear, especially in educational settings. Building on this knowledge, this study aimed to investigate whether the presence of IP and fear of failure might worsen students' burnout and anxiety levels, especially those with higher PSP. Additionally, literature exploring sex differences in PSP and IP remains contradictory. Some studies have shown that PSP and IP are significantly higher in females than males in academic settings; in contrast, others did not find any significant results. Therefore, this study also considered sex differences in the relationship between the variables (PSP, IP, fear of failure, academic burnout, and anxiety). In this respect, the current study is centered on three main research questions: (1) What is the relationship between PSP and academic burnout and what is the effect of IP and fear of failure on this relationship? (2) What is the relationship between PSP and anxiety in academia and what is the effect of IP and fear of failure on this relationship? (3) What are the sex differences between the variables investigated and whether sex differences exist in the relationship between the variables (specifically double moderation)? Thus, using double moderation, we aimed to understand whether the relationship between PSP and academic burnout and anxiety will be affected by both IP and fear of failure simultaneously, and whether students with higher PSP, higher imposter feelings, and higher fear of failure have the highest risk of academic burnout and anxiety. In the current literature, most studies have focused on either the relationship between PSP and educational outcomes (e.g., academic adjustment) or the relationship between IP and educational/psychological outcomes (e.g., communication anxiety). However, the present study considered possible interactions between PSP, imposter feelings, and fear of failure in relation to burnout and anxiety in academia, which will significantly contribute to the existing literature.

The second preregistration in this project concerns the final report and is a continuation of the brief report (for the preregistration of the brief report see https://osf.io/dr57w/). The main question in the larger project is: How do people deal with the Dutch government's social-distancing measures and what are the consequences for loneliness during the coronavirus outbreak? The impostor phenomenon is often viewed as a dysfunctional personality style with important implications for university students. An earlier investigation made by Leonhardt et al. (2017) has shown that different types of impostors can be distinguished based on their underlying characteristics. However, no study examined the association between Perfectionistic Self-presentation and the Dark Triad and its relation to this existing typology. We employed Latent class analysis (LCA) to investigate if different impostors can be distinguished based on the levels of IP, Perfectionistic self-presentation and Dark Triad (e.g., narcissism, machiavellianism, psychopathy). This analysis was further used to explore if some impostors are more prone to encounter academic-related difficulties (e.g., burnout, anxiety, and fear of failure) compared to others.

The preregistered study (brief report) aims to describe loneliness and the social and non-social coping strategies that individuals use to deal with the Dutch government's social-distancing measures during the coronavirus pandemic. This brief report was financed by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and uses data from the Longitudinal Internet Studies for the Social Sciences (LISS) panel. The current study is part of a larger project that aims to describe the changes in the quantity, quality and ways of social contact during the first phase of social distancing, the social and non-social coping strategies to deal with these changes and to examine the relationship between these social changes, coping strategies, loneliness and psychological adjustment.

The inclusion of a dimensional trait model of personality pathology in DSM-5 creates new opportunities for research on developmental antecedents of personality pathology. The traits of this model can be measured with the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5), initially developed for adults, but also demonstrating validity in adolescents. The present study adds to the growing body of literature on the psychometrics of the PID-5, by examining its structure, validity, and reliability in 187 psychiatric-referred late adolescents and emerging adults. PID-5, Big Five Inventory, and Kidscreen self-reports were provided, and 88 non-clinical matched controls completed the PID-5. Results confirm the PID-5's five-factor structure, indicate adequate psychometric properties, and underscore the construct and criterion validity, showing meaningful associations with adaptive traits and quality of life. Results are discussed in terms of the PID-5's applicability in vulnerable populations who are going through important developmental transition phases, such as the step towards early adulthood.
