The punitive measurement of deprivation of the freedom is cause of a high level of anxiety between the inmates. The prisoner women, in most of the cases, counts with a nervous tension else: the maternity. The objective of the study is to observe the influence of the experience of the maternity within the jail, for which it has come during a year to the study of the levels of anxiety from two samples (N=28) from prisoner mothers (one of them coexisted with its children in prison and another one had children outside the penitentiary scope) the obtained results indicate similar levels of anxiety in the studied samples, although with differences at level of trait and state. Their implications are analyzed and the relations with the criminal conduct. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
