The associations between Type D personality and poor quality of life, overall survival, and mental health in gastric cancer survivors.The aim of this research was to explore quality of life (QoL), mental health status, Type D personality, symptom duration, and emergency admissions of Chinese gastric cancer patients, as well as the relationship between these factors.Eight hundred thirty eligible Chinese patients newly diagnosed with gastric cancer between July 2009 and July 2011 were enrolled in this prospective study. Type D personality was measured with the 14-item Type D Personality Scale (DS14). Mental health status was measured with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. The QoL outcomes were assessed longitudinally using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 and Quality of Life Questionnaire-STO22 at baseline and six months after diagnosis.The proportion of patients with symptom duration of more than one month and who were diagnosed after emergency admissions in the Type D group was significantly higher than that in the non-Type D personality group. At both of the time points, Type D patients reported statistically significant lower scores on role, emotional, cognitive, and social functioning (all Ps 0.001) functional scales, global health status/QoL scales (P 0.001), and worse symptom scores compared to patients without a Type D personality. During the six-month time frame, a higher percentage of patients in the Type D group demonstrated a considerable QoL deterioration. Clinically elevated levels of anxiety and depression were more prevalent in Type D than in non-Type D survivors (both Ps 0.001). There was a statistically significant difference in three-year overall survival between the patients in the Type D group and the non-Type D personality group.Type D personality is associated with poor QoL, three-year overall survival and mental health status among survivors of gastric cancer, even after adjustment of confounding background variables. The Type D personality group experienced increased levels of pain and fatigue compared to non-Type D patients. Type D personality might be a general vulnerability factor to screen for subgroups at risk of longer symptom duration and emergency admissions in clinical practice.

To reduce the tubular hydro-generator no-load voltage waveform distortion,some different design schemes of stator slot skewing degree in a 36MW fractional slot tubular hydro-generator (q=11/2 ) are calculated and compared. Then, the relation of the no-load voltage waveform harmonic distortion factor (HDF) and stator slot skewing degree are revealed. The research provides the important reference informations for the optimization of no-load voltage waveform , and it is helpful for improving the industral design and manufacture standard of tubular hydro-generator.

IntroductionMany surgical techniques have been used to repair abdominal wall defects in the inguinal region based on the anatomic characteristics of this region and can be categorised as ‘tension’ repair or ‘tension-free’ repair. Tension-free repair is the preferred technique for inguinal hernia repair. Tension-free repair of inguinal hernia can be performed through either the anterior transversalis fascia approach or the preperitoneal space approach. There are few large sample, randomised controlled trials investigating the curative effects of the anterior transversalis fascia approach versus the preperitoneal space approach for inguinal hernia repair in patients in northern China.Methods and analysisThis will be a prospective, large sample, multicentre, randomised, controlled trial. Registration date is 1 December 2016. Actual study start date is 6 February 2017. Estimated study completion date is June 2020. A cohort of over 720 patients with inguinal hernias will be recruited from nine institutions in Liaoning Province, China. Patient randomisation will be stratified by centre to undergo inguinal hernia repair via the anterior transversalis fascia approach or the preperitoneal approach. Primary and secondary outcome assessments will be performed at baseline (prior to surgery), predischarge and at postoperative 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year and 2 years. The primary outcome is the incidence of postoperative chronic inguinal pain. The secondary outcome is postoperative complications (including rates of wound infection, haematoma, seroma and hernia recurrence).Ethics and disseminationThis trial will be conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and supervised by the institutional review board of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University (approval number 2015–027). All patients will receive information about the trial in verbal and written forms and will give informed consent before enrolment. The results will be published in peer-reviewed journals or disseminated through conference presentations.Trial registration numberNCT02984917; preresults.

In this paper, we present an approach of three-dimensional human face pose correction with the normal vector alignment algorithm. We detect three feature points on a human face through calculating discrete Gaussian curvature. Then we calculate the three feature points plane of the normal direction. The face pose is corrected from the normal vector direction. This method is small amount of calculation and wide applicability. The experimental results show that the correction effect is good.

A new wideband unidirectional cavity-backed elliptical printed dipole antenna with enhanced radiation patterns is proposed. The cavity utilized in the proposed antenna is a simple cylindrical cavity, which can generate broadside radiation patterns. An elliptical printed dipole director is placed in front of the elliptical printed dipole antenna for improving the radiation patterns in the upper frequency band. The antenna is fed by an SMA connector through a step-tapered balun accomplishing a transition from a microstrip line to a parallel stripline. The antenna is fabricated and measured. Results show that the antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth of 129.7% for ${\rm VSWR}\leq 2.0$ from 1.55 to 7.27 GHz. Stable unidirectional radiation patterns with an antenna gain of 8.04–13.27 dBi, low back radiation, and low cross polarization are found over the operating frequencies.

This paper using vector diagram illuminates the operation principle of vector synthesis predistortions and proves they can control amplitude modulation to amplitude modulation (AM/AM) and amplitude modulation to phase modulation (AM/PM) separately. A vector synthesis predistortion linearizer is designed to verify this thought and the results show the correctness of this thought.

Vulcanization process is the last step of manufacturing rubber products. For tire tread which is made of short fiber rubber composite material, vulcanization is complex due to during vulcanization process the flow of mixed rubber maybe change short fibers orientation. As a result, during vulcanization process, several pieces of iron wire have been put in the mold to play the role of tire patterns for the first step research. The experimental results indicate that the flow of mixed rubber would not change short fibers orientation greatly, and physical and mechanical properties of short fiber-rubber composite material keep as good as that vulcanized without iron wire.

Filling factor and polyester short fiber addition impact the mixing process and performances of mixed rubber greatly. The effects of filling factor and polyester short fiber addition on mixing short fiber-rubber composite material have been studied by experimental study. And according to the experimental results, at the condition of filling factor was 0.6 and polyester short fiber addition was 3, the performances of mixed rubber were best.

Extrusion and molding is one of the most important manufacturing processes of short fiber-rubber composite material. In order to be used to tire tread, the short fibers in rubber are wanted to be radial orientated. But the orientation of short fibers depends on the die structure, and the performances of short fiber-rubber composite material depend on the radial orientation degree of short fibers. So, the die structure has been studied by experiments in order to get a proper die structure for manufacturing of short fiber-rubber composite material. The experimental results indicate that the proper die structure parameters are: the molding length is 15mm, the molding height is 9mm, the channel length is 75mm, the channel height is 12mm and the channel angle is 135º.

Rotor speed is one of the most important technical characteristics of the internal mixer. The effects of rotor speed on mixing process have been studied. In the experiments, three types of synchronous rotors which were two-wing synchronous rotor, four-wing synchronous rotor and six-wing synchronous rotor were used. The experimental results indicated that there was a proper speed of different rotor structure for mixing process. And along with the increase of rotor speed, the maximum power, the unit consumption of energy and discharging temperature increase, while the physical and mechanical properties of mixed rubber got a better value.

Aniline-degrading microbes were cultivated and acclimated with the initial activated sludge collected from a chemical wastewater treatment plant. During the acclimation processes, aerobic granular sludge being able to effectively degrade aniline was successfully formed, from which a preponderant bacterial strain was isolated and named as AN1. Effects of factors including pH, temperature, and second carbon/nitrogen source on the biodegradation of aniline were investigated. Results showed that the optimal conditions for the biodegradation of aniline by the strain AN1 were at pH 7.0 and 28-35 degrees C. At the optimal pH and temperature, the biodegradation rate of aniline could reach as high as 17.8 mg/(L x hr) when the initial aniline concentration was 400 mg/L. Further studies revealed that the addition of 1 g/L glucose or ammonium chloride as a second carbon or nitrogen source could slightly enhance the biodegradation efficiency from 93.0% to 95.1%-98.5%. However, even more addition of glucose or ammonium could not further enhance the biodegradation process but delayed the biodegradation of aniline by the strain AN1. Based on morphological and physiological characteristics as well as the phylogenetic analysis of 26S rDNA sequences, the strain AN1 was identified as Candida tropicalis.

Digitization of carton’s dispersion is important for rubber researching. The application of computer technology can finish calculating and showing of statistical data quickly and exactly. Digitization of distribution supplies more ways to research the relation between carton’s dispersion and rubber’s property.

Rotor Speed is an important factor which impacts the mixing process and quality of mixed rubber greatly. The effects of different rotor speeds on manufacturing process of short fiber-rubber composite material have been studied by experimental study. In the experiments, the rotor speeds were 50rpm, 60rpm, 70rpm and 80rpm respectively. The experimental results indicated that the mixed rubber after vulcanized had better physical and mechanical properties as the rotor speed was 70rpm. So the rotor speed that is 70rpm has been chosen for manufacturing short fiber-rubber composite material.

During the extruding process of short fiber-rubber composite material, screw speed is an important factor which influences the orientation of short fibers, as well as the physical and mechanical properties of short fiber-rubber composite material. The effects of different screw speeds on physical and mechanical properties of short fiber-rubber composite material have been studied by experimental study. In the experiments, the screw speeds were 10rpm, 15rpm, 20rpm, 25rpm and 30rpm respectively. The experimental results indicated that when the screw speed was 15rpm, the physical and mechanical properties of short fiber-rubber composite material are better.

The structure of rotors is an important factor, which impacts the quality of the mixed rubber. For the short fiber-rubber composite material, the structure of the rotors is most important. Through the experiments study, the mixing performances of four-wing synchronous rotor, six-wing synchronous rotor and new type of six-wing synchronous varying clearance rotor have been studied. The experimental results indicated that the mixing performance of the new type rotor is much better than the four-wing and six-wing synchronous rotor for the mixing of short fiber-rubber composite materials.

A new type of six-wing synchronous rotor has been designed and manufactured for mixing requirements of the short fiber-rubber composite material. During the manufacturing process of the composite material, different addition proportions of the short fibers have been used. The physical and mechanical performances of the short fiber-rubber composite material have been investigated. The new type rotor meets the mixing requirements of the short fiber-rubber composite material, with the best addition proportion of the short fibers.

The study was based on researching various parameter of vulcanization shaping process for effect of radial force variation (RFV).The experimental results showed that reducing the first and second shaping pressure, and increasing hole diameter of N2 on curing bladder, and extending times of discharged N2 in shaping process, and reducing pressure of expanded bladder at the moment of closing mold, could reduce RFV of TBR tire and improve uniformity of tire and provide base data of product process.

The flow field analyzed method about mixer flow in chamber has been introduced, Synchronous rotor three dimension flow field simulation rubber with the Finite Element Analysis is reported. The physical and three dimension Finite Element Method models for synchronous rotors flow field has been built for the first time. Isothermal flow field simulation with synchronous rotor has been made, the pressure field, velocity field and viscosity field had been obtained from numerical simulation. The results showed flow field’s change rule in a circle clearly, which are useful to improve mixer rotor’s structure.

Of the 852 survivors who responded (94 %), 187 (22 %) had a type D personality. The proportion of patients with duration of symptoms >1 month and being diagnosed after emergency admissions in type D group is significantly higher than that in non-type D group. At both of the time points, type D patients reported statistically significant lower scores on most of the functional scales, global health status/QoL scales, and worse symptom scores compared to patients without a type D personality. At the 6-month time point, a higher percentage of patients in the type D group demonstrated QoL deterioration. Clinically elevated levels of anxiety and depression were more prevalent in type D than in non-type D survivors. Type D personality was associated with poor QoL and mental health status among survivors of rectal cancer, even after adjustment for confounding background variables. Background The association between use of oral contraceptives (OCs) and cerebral infarction was established in studies from northern Europe and the USA during the 1960s and 1970s. Since then, the constituents of hormonal OCs have changed and now contain lower doses of oestrogen and progestagen. Current recommendations restrict OC use to younger women who do not have other risk factors for cardiovascular disease, in this international study we assessed the risk of CC-associated first stroke in women from Europe and other countries throughout Vie world.Methods In this hospital-based, case-control study, we assessed the risk of ischaemic stroke in association with current use of combined OCs in 697 cases, aged 20-44 years, and 1962 age-matched hospital controls in 21 centres in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The diagnosis of ischaemic stroke was almost exclusively based on computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or cerebral angiography carried out within 3 weeks of the clinical event. Ail cases and controls were interviewed while in hospital with the same questionnaire, which included information on medical and personal history, details of lifetime contraceptive use, and blood-pressure measurements before the most recent episode of OC use.Findings The overall odds ratio of ischaemic stroke was 2 . 99 (95% CI 1 . 65-5 . 40) in Europe and 2 . 93 (2 . 15-4 . 00) in the non-European (developing) countries, Odds ratios were lower in younger women and those who did not smoke, and less than 2 in women who did not have hypertension and who reported that their blood pressure had been checked before the current episode of OC use. By contrast, among current OC users with a history of hypertension, the odds ratio was 10 . 7 (2 . 04-56 . 6) in Europe and 14 . 5 (5 . 36-39 . 0) in the developing countries. Improvement of no-load voltage waveforms and reduce the temperature of rotor are important problems for optimizing quality requirement of electric power and ensuring the operation safety of generator and power system. A 15 MW tubular hydro-generator is proposed, the no-load voltage waveform of which is poor, heat of rotor is severe. The multi-slice moving electromagnetic field-circuit coupling model of the hydro-generator and 3D temperature field FE model of the rotor are built up, the no-load voltage waveform and rotor heat are analyzed. The original design and 2 different optimized design schemes are compared. The results show that, slot skew of stator can optimize the no-load voltage, however the temperature of rotor is reduced rarely. Besides the above measure, increase the damper bar pitch, airgap, diameter of damper bar, and decrease the damper bar assembling airgap, the no-load voltage waveform can be optimized, and minimize the loss and temperature of rotor parts, such as damper bars, iron core, and exciting windings. The research is helpful for improve the design standard and enhance the operation reliability of the large hydro-generator and electric network.

In this study, Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans LX5 was cultured in 9K medium with pyrite and ferrous sulfate as the substrates. Results showed that the number of A. ferrooxidans LX5 acclimated by pyrite for 20 d was 3.0 x 10(7) cell/mL in the liquid, and the oxidation activity to pyrite was stronger. A. ferrooxidans LX5 cultured for 48 h was 1.0 x 10(8) cell/mL in medium with FeSO4. Extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) produced from A. ferrooxidans LX5 acclimated by pyrite was 2 395 microg/(10(10) cells) three times as much as that cultured with FeSO4. A high-sulfur coal desulfurization experiment were carried out with A. ferrooxidans LX5 domesticated respectively in medium with ferrous sulfate and pyrite. The results showed that the coal desulfurization rate was up to 72.4% after bioleaching for 13 d by A. ferrooxidans LX5 acclimated by pyrite, at the same time, the desulfurization rate was only 47.2% with A. ferrooxidans LX5 cultured with ferrous sulfate and reached 65.8% in 20 d. Therefore, the desulfurization efficiency can be improved of coal and shorten the desulfurization time when A. ferrooxidans LX5 acclimated with pyrite as the substrate.

To investigate the culture conditions and biological characteristics of the adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) isolated from renal adipose capsule so as to find a better source of stem cells for the treatment of kidney disease.Renal adipose capsules and groin adipose tissues were taken from rats. The isolated and cultured ADSCs from the two regions were compared.When approximately 80% cell fusion were achieved, cell passage was established. To observe cell morphology and proliferation, we adopted MTT colorimetry to record cell growth curve, and utilized FCM to detect the expressions of cell surface antigen.(1) The primary ADSCs showed that the number of ADSCs isolated from the renal adipose capsules significantly exceed that from the groin adipose tissues at the same quality. About 80% ADSCs derived from the renal adipose capsules fused in 5-6 days, while the ADSCs from the inguinal fat tissues needed 10-12 days approximately. Both were spindle-like or fibroblast-like in shape. (2) The analysis of the growth curve showed that the proliferation of ADSCs from renal fat capsule was faster than that from inguinal fat tissues. (3) FCM showed that CD29 antigen expression rates of ADSCs from both parts exceeded 99%. The expression rates of the renal ADSCs for CD44 was 52.92%, while the expression rate of the groin ADSCs was 75.41%. The marking antigens of the endothelial cells for CD31 were negative.Compared with the ADSCs taken from the inguinal region, the renal ADSCs has the advantages of greater cell culture number and faster proliferation, which may become a new source of stem cells to treat the renal disease.

Bacterium A1, isolated to enhance nitrogen removal from ammonium-rich wastewater in situ, exhibited an amazing ability to convert ammonium to gaseous nitrogen compounds under fully aerobic conditions, while growing autotrophically or heterotrophically. A1 was identified as Bacillus subtilis by morphological and physiological characteristics, and phylogenetic analysis of its 16S rDNA gene sequence. Nitrogen removal by A1 was analyzed in relation to the ammonium concentration, presence of organic carbon, carbon source, and carbon-to-nitrogen ratio (C/N). The nitrogen balance during 120 h of autotrophic growth in the presence of 104.12±1.27 mg/L NH4+N showed that 20.4±2.7% of NH4+N was removed as gaseous nitrogen compounds, and A1 removed 58.4±4.3% of NH4+N within 60 h of growth in acetate medium at a C/N of 6. A mean ammonium removal rate of 3.52 mg NH4+N/(L h) was achieved in an open wastewater system, indicating great potential of A1 for future full-scale applications.
