Advances in imaging technology and the increasing role of interventional procedures in musculoskeletal imaging have continued to stimulate research over recent years. This review summarises some recent articles on musculoskeletal radiology topics and looks forward to potential future developments in this exciting sub-speciality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fifty-nine cases of lesions presenting in the patella were identified after review of the databases of four European bone tumour registries. Of the 59 cases, 46% were non neoplastic, 39% were benign and 15% were malignant. The commonest benign neoplasm was giant cell tumour (GCT) (11 cases). Younger patients were more likely to have a benign neoplasm. Lesions in patients less than 40 years of age included giant cell tumour, chondroblastoma, aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC), osteomyelitis, osteoid osteoma and solitary bone cyst. In patients older than 40 years, the following were common lesions: intra-osseous gout, metastasis and intra-osseous ganglion. Expansion of the patella with thinning of cortex was seen more commonly in GCT and brown tumour in hyperparathyroidism. There was associated soft tissue extension in gout and malignant lesions. Of the five human antibody isotypes, the function of IgD is the least well-understood, although various studies point to a role for IgD in mucosal immunity. IgD is also the least well structurally characterized isotype. Until recently, when crystal structures were reported for the IgD Fab, the only structural information available was a model for intact IgD based on solution scattering data. We now report the crystal structure of human IgD-Fc solved at 3.0 Å resolution. Although similar in overall architecture to other human isotypes, IgD-Fc displays markedly different orientations of the Cδ3 domains in the Cδ3 domain dimer and the lowest interface area of all the human isotypes. The nature of the residues that form the dimer interface also differs from those conserved in the other isotypes. By contrast, the interface between the Cδ2 and Cδ3 domains in each chain is the largest among the human isotypes. This interface is characterized by two binding pockets, not seen in other isotypes, and points to a potential role for the Cδ2/Cδ3 interface in stabilizing the IgD-Fc homodimer. We investigated the thermal stability of IgD-Fc, alone and in the context of an intact IgD antibody, and found that IgD-Fc unfolds in a single transition. Hemispheric asymmetry has been reported for global-local processing in young and older adults, with global processing specialised in the right hemisphere (RH-global specialisation) and local processing specialised in the left hemisphere (LH-local specialisation). Questions persist regarding the extent to which hemispheric asymmetry is influenced by stimulus category (verbal stimuli processed in the left hemisphere; visuospatial stimuli processed in the right hemisphere). Some evidence suggests stimulus category does not influence hemispheric asymmetry (stimulus-independent account) while other evidence suggests it does (stimulus-dependent account). In older adults, there is evidence of a local-processing advantage, believed to result from slower and less accurate performance in right-hemisphere compared to left-hemisphere functioning-the right-hemisphere ageing hypothesis. We examined hemispheric asymmetry for global-local processing in young and older participants with three hierarchical figures (letters, verbalisable objects, and nonverbalisable shapes), in a within-subjects design using a divided-attention paradigm and unilateral presentation. Our findings for letters and verbalisable objects support the stimulus-independent account-young and older participants demonstrated RH-global specialisation and LH-local specialisation regardless of stimulus category. In older participants, we also found a local-processing advantage for all three stimulus categories-an advantage best explained as faster and more accurate performance in local processing regardless of the visual field of stimulus presentation. Overall, we found hemispheric asymmetry for global-local processing in both young and older adults, and differences in global processing between young and older adults. Advances in antibody engineering are being directed at the development of next generation immunotherapeutics with improved potency. Hexamerisation of IgG is a normal physiological aspect of IgG biology and recently described mutations that facilitate this process have a substantial impact upon monoclonal antibody behavior resulting in the elicitation of dramatically enhanced complement-dependent cytotoxicity, Fc receptor function, and enhanced antigen binding effects, such as targeted receptor agonism or microbe neutralization. Whereas the discovery of IgG hexamerisation enhancing mutations has largely focused on residues with exposure at the surface of the Fc-Fc and CH2-CH3 interfaces, our unique approach is the engineering of the mostly buried residue H429 in the CH3 domain. Selective substitution at position 429 forms the basis of Stellabody technology, where the choice of amino acid results in distinct hexamerisation outcomes. H429F results in monomeric IgG that hexamerises after target binding, so called "on-target" hexamerisation, while the H429Y mutant forms pH-sensitive hexamers in-solution prior to antigen binding. Moreover, Stellabody technologies are broadly applicable across the family of antibody-based biologic therapeutics, including conventional mAbs, bispecific mAbs, and Ig-like biologics such as Fc-fusions, with applications in diverse diseases., (© 2024 The Author(s). In this report, we demonstrate olefin transposition/isomerization reactions catalyzed by a series of N,N,N -pincer (1,3-bis(2-pyridylimino)isoindoline) Ru-hydride complexes. The protocol proceeds at room temperature for most substrates, achieving excellent yields, regioselectivity, and diastereoselectivity in short reaction times. The air-stable Ru-chloride derivatives of these complexes exhibit comparable reactivity enabling benchtop setup and synthetic versatility. Furthermore, we demonstrate the potential for one-pot cascade sequences of the products derived from the transposition reactions.
