Methods to spatially profile the transcriptome are dominated by a trade-off between resolution and throughput. Here, we developed a method named EEL FISH that can rapidly process large tissue samples without compromising spatial resolution. By electrophoretically transferring RNA from a tissue section onto a capture surface, EEL speeds up data acquisition by reducing the amount of imaging needed, while ensuring that RNA molecules move straight down towards the surface, preserving single-cell resolution. We applied EEL on eight entire sagittal sections of the mouse brain and measured the expression patterns of up to 440 genes to reveal complex tissue organisation. Moreover, EEL enabled the study of challenging human samples by removing autofluorescent lipofuscin, so that we could study the spatial transcriptome of the human visual cortex. We provide full hardware specification, all protocols and complete software for instrument control, image processing, data analysis and visualization.

PURPOSE Nursing students suffer from stress more frequently than other students. The objective was to analyze the academic stressors that most affect new nursing students. DESIGN AND METHODS A cross-sectional study on new nursing students. FINDINGS Two hundred and eighty-two students, 78% women, mean age of 21.46 (6.1) years. Giving presentations in class and lack of time for homework are the items that cause the greatest academic stress. Women had higher levels of academic stress, and higher levels of physical activity are related to lower academic stress. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Women have a higher level of academic stress. Doing sport is a protective factor that diminishes academic stress the more it is practiced. Encouraging nursing students to play sports could be beneficial in reducing their academic stress, with women benefiting the most.

Resumen Introduccion y objetivos La literatura cientifica ha evidenciado diversos predictores de tipo psicoemocional de la ansiedad ante los examenes. Sin embargo, no se ha estudiado el efecto conjunto que tienen sobre la ansiedad ante los examenes variables psicoemocionales relativas a la ansiedad-rasgo y al burnout academico, y a la satisfaccion con diversos aspectos personales (consigo mismo —autoestima—, con la vida y con el sueno). El objetivo de este estudio ha sido determinar si un grupo de variables de tipo psicoemocional (ansiedad-rasgo, autoestima, burnout academico, satisfaccion con la vida), de sueno (satisfaccion subjetiva de sueno) y sociodemografico (edad) constituyen predictores significativos de la ansiedad ante los examenes en estudiantes de Enfermeria. Material y metodos Estudio descriptivo, transversal, mediante encuesta, llevado a cabo en un grupo de 494 estudiantes de Enfermeria. Se analizan los datos mediante pruebas de correlacion, de comparacion de medias y un modelo de regresion. Resultados El analisis de regresion explica un 39,3% de la varianza (p Conclusiones El estudio revela que altas puntuaciones en ansiedad-rasgo, burnout academico, insatisfaccion con el sueno y tener menos edad fueron predictores de ansiedad ante los examenes. Las mujeres padecen mayor ansiedad ante los examenes que los hombres. Se discute la necesidad de equipos de atencion psicologica en las facultades de Enfermeria para reducir la incidencia de ansiedad ante los examenes en los estudiantes.

Clinical practices are considered one of the cornerstones in nurses' education. This study provides a framework to determine how factors in the academic environment, influence nursing student's satisfaction with their practices. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted in a convenience sample of 574 nursing students at a private university in Valencia, during the 2016/2017 academic year, 79% (456) were women. Two statistical methodologies were used for data analysis: hierarchical regression models (HRM) and fuzzy sets qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). The HRM indicate that the students' mean score influences all dimensions of satisfaction. Furthermore, in the fsQCA, the type of service and center, as well as the type of management, the preference in the choice of the practice center and the number of students per period per clinical educator influence satisfaction with clinical practices. These results could be used to understand how academic factors influence nursing students' satisfaction with their clinical practices and to create intervention programmes that improve it. This will help prepare students to be the future nursing workforce.

Background: Clinical practices are considered fundamental in nursing studies for effective training of nurses and in students’ satisfaction. Both the clinical environment and the clinical educator are key factors in satisfaction with the clinical practice. The aim of this study was to analyse the influence of the socio-demographic variables of clinical educators and nursing students on satisfaction with the clinical practices.Methods: The study included 527 nursing students enrolled on the subject of clinical practice at a private university in Valencia, Spain. The age of the participants ranged from 19 to 51 years old, (M=24.4; SD=6.1) and 79% (451) were women. An instrument was used to measure satisfaction with the practices based on the following scales: Clinical Learning Environment (CLE-1995), Clinical Learning Environment and Supervision (CLES-2002), Clinical Learning Environment Inventory (CLEI-2003), Clinical Learning environment, supervision and nurse teacher (CLES+T - 2008) and the Clinical Assessment Instrument (IEC-2009). Two statistical methodologies were used for data analysis: hierarchical regression models (HRM) and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis model (fsQCA).Results : The results indicate that sociodemographic variables such as sex and year group influence student satisfaction in both methodologies. Conclusions: Based on these results, training plans to improve students’ satisfaction with the clinical practice can be established.

Clinical practices are a vital component in the education of registered nursing students. This study analyzed the influence of organizational variables on satisfaction with clinical practices. A cross-sectional study design involved 572 registered nursing students. Two statistical methodologies, hierarchical regression models and qualitative comparative analysis of diffuse sets, were used for data analysis. In the hierarchical regression models the number of students supervised predicted satisfaction with clinical educator (β = -.22; p ≤ .001), environment (β = -.13; p ≤ .05) and overall satisfaction (β = -.15; p ≤ .05). However, in the qualitative comparative analysis, the type of center, as well as the number of services assigned to the clinical educator and the number of students per clinical educator period were conditions that influence satisfaction with clinical practices. The type of center and the clinical educator are key factors related to registered nursing students’ satisfaction with clinical practices.

Methods Two statistical methodologies were used for data analysis: hierarchical regression models (HRM) and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis model (fsQCA). Results The results indicate that sociodemographic variables such as sex, being a woman, and being in the second grade year group, influence student satisfaction in both methodologies. Conclusions According to our results, establishing specific academic plans for students in higher years (3rd and 4th) could improve nursing students' satisfaction with their clinical practice. Adequate training of students is a key factor in the provision of high-quality nursing care.
