Objective: The objective was to determine the differences in knowledge management and intellectual capital according to age, sex and length of service in teachers of the Universidad Peruana Unión 2022. Method: The research methodology had a quantitative approach, correlational explanatory type, non-experimental design and cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 192 teachers from the faculty of business sciences, to whom a survey was applied. Results: The results show significant differences in knowledge management and intellectual capital according to age, sex and time. Conclusions: There are no significant differences that imply a change in knowledge management with respect to sociodemographic data (sex, age and years of work). With respect to intellectual capital, no statistically significant differences were found in relation to the sociodemographic factors (sex, age). There are significant differences with respect to the sociodemographic factor years in the organization.

Gestionar los procesos logísticos resulta esencial para cualquier organización, porque su correcto control y gestión optimizarán sus procesos evitando gastos innecesarios, incrementando la productividad y calidad ofrecida al usuario del servicio, por lo cual, el objetivo de este estudio fue determinar en qué medida se relaciona la gestión logística y la calidad del servicio interno en el área logística del Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Neurológicas, en contexto de pandemia por COVID-19. El tipo de investigación fue básica de enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental, de corte transversal y de nivel descriptivo y correlacional. El resultado fue un valor de (r=0,282, p=0.001) para la gestión logística y calidad de servicio; (r=0,245, p=0.005) para aprovisionamiento y calidad de servicio; (r=0,270, p=0.002) para producción y calidad de servicio; (r=0,274, p=0.001) para distribución y calidad de servicio. Se concluye que existe una relación lineal, baja y directa entre las variables de estudio, por lo que, a mayor rango de una, mayor crecimiento de la otra variable. Se recomienda promover la sistematización de la gestión logística a fin de asegurar la calidad del servicio.

Niemann–Pick type C (NPC) is a lysosomal storage disorder (LSD) caused by pathogenic variants in either the NPC1 or NPC2 genes, which encode proteins involved in the lysosomal export of unesterified cholesterol. In patients of Western European descent, the p.Ile1061Thr variant in NPC1 is especially prevalent. However, mounting evidence has positioned p.Ala1035Val as the most common variant in Portugal and the second most prevalent variant worldwide. By analyzing 10 Portuguese NPC patients homozygous for p.Ala1035Val, we found an SNP in cis on position 858 (p.Ile858Val), which we hypothesize could have a disease-modifying effect. To address this query, we created variant-specific in vitro models of NPC by stably transducing NPC1−/− ARPE-19 cells with constructs encoding different fluorescently-tagged variants of NPC1, which we used, alongside patient-derived skin fibroblasts, to investigate lysosomal positioning and the trafficking routes elicited by p.Ile1061Thr and p.Ala1035Val (with and without the p.Ile858Val SNP in cis). Our results corroborate the previously described decrease in p.Ile1061Thr-NPC1 trafficking to the lysosome and suggest a similar, if not worse, scenario for the p.Ala1035Val variant, especially when in cis with p.Ile858Val. This is the first reported functional study addressing the impact of the p.Ala1035Val variant at the cellular level, paving the way for novel therapeutic options. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A través del costeo basado en el tiempo invertido por actividad y de la asignación de costos se utiliza el tiempo como inductor de la actividad, y bajo la premisa de que la capacidad práctica no puede ser igual a la capacidad teórica, se desarrolla el presente estudio, con el objetivo de proponer un costeo basado en el tiempo invertido por actividad (TDABC), para un servicio de tomografía; a través de un estudio inductivo, descriptivo, de corte transeccional, utilizando la observación y el análisis de datos, el estudio se realizó en colaboración y coordinación con el área financiera y el personal del área de tomografía. Los resultados incorporan los análisis de procedimientos y subprocedimientos, actividades y comparaciones, así como los resultados del costeo a través del TDABC, como es el caso de un servicio en el que se invierte 38 minutos para su procesamiento y atención, de acuerdo al TDABC, el costo del servicio sería de S/ 597.47.

The enzymatic modification of starch extends its industrial use to flavor delivery and probiotic encapsulants, among other uses. However, it is not known how starch from different cassava varieties responds to enzymatic hydrolysis. Starches from two Ecuadorian cassava varieties (INIAP 650, an edible starch, and INIAP 651, an industrial starch) were partially modified at three enzymatic hydrolysis degrees (0%, 30%, and 50%), and their physicochemical properties were assessed. The structural analysis revealed that both varieties showed progressive structural damage as hydrolysis increases, probably due to exo-hydrolysis. However, deeper pores were observed in INIAP 651 with the SEM analysis. The crystallinity percentage obtained by XRD analyses remained constant in INIAP 651 and decreased (by 26%) in INIAP 650 (p < 0.05). In addition, the amylose–lipid complex index in INIAP 650 remained constant, while INIAP 651 increased (p < 0.05) at 30% hydrolysis (by 93%). In both varieties, hydrolysis increased (p < 0.05) the water holding capacity (WHC) (by 10–14%) and the water binding capacity (WBC) (by 16%), but 50% hydrolysis of INIAP 650 was needed to significantly affect these properties. No differences were observed in the varieties’ thermal properties. Regarding the rheological properties, the variety did not influence the changes in the storage module (G′) and the loss modulus (G″) with the hydrolysis (p > 0.05). However, the phase angle decreased significantly (p < 0.05) with the hydrolysis, being higher in the INIAP 650 variety than in the INIAP 651 variety. In general, the results indicate that the variety affects the response of the starch granule to enzymatic hydrolysis (noticeable in the principal component analysis, PCA) and opens up the possibility to modulate starch properties.

Among the many lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) that would benefit from the establishment of novel cell models, either patient-derived or genetically engineered, is mucopolysaccharidosis type II (MPS II). Here, we present our results on the establishment and characterization of two MPS II patient-derived stem cell line(s) from deciduous baby teeth. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time a stem cell population has been isolated from LSD patient samples obtained from the dental pulp. Taking into account our results on the molecular and biochemical characterization of those cells and the fact that they exhibit visible and measurable disease phenotypes, we consider these cells may qualify as a valuable disease model, which may be useful for both pathophysiological assessments and in vitro screenings. Ultimately, we believe that patient-derived dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), particularly those isolated from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHEDs), may represent a feasible alternative to induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) in many labs with standard cell culture conditions and limited (human and economic) resources. This report describes the safe and e ective handling under anesthesia, blood collection and main clinical pathology values determination for three adult Spotted Ratfish (Hydrolagus colliei) (two males and one female) successfully maintained under human care for more than 20 years. The anesthetic MS- 222 diluted in tamponed salt water at 50 ppm provided deep narcosis with mean induction and recovery times of 5 and 20min, allowing safe handling and blood collection in the three animals sampled. Major leukocyte types were similar to other teleost and elasmobranch species, identifying lymphocytes as the predominant leukocyte (75.5%), followed by the fine eosinophilic granulocytes (10.25%), the coarse eosinophilic granulocytes (9.75%), and a small percentage ofmonocytes (5.50%). Plasma biochemistry values in this species were like those seen in elasmobranchs, with the highest levels of blood urea nitrogen described in any Chondrichthyes (mean 679.7 mmol/l). Plasma protein electrophoresis analysis in the Spotted Ratfish showed five consistent fractions, like those previously described in other fish species, with a negligible quantity of proteins migrating in the region equivalent to albumin, and with fraction 4 (mean 53.20%) as the predominant fraction. Despite the limitations imposed by the small sample size and the challenging access to the studied species under human care, this study will shed light on and enhance clinical knowledge regarding Ratfish handling, anesthesia, blood collection, and analysis.
