Abstract

We continue the research on the generative capacity of contextual grammars where contexts are adjoined around whole words (externally) or around subwords (internally) which belong to special regular selection languages. All languages generated by contextual grammars where all selection languages are elements of a certain subregular language family form again a language family. We investigate contextual grammars with strictly locally testable selection languages and compare those families to families which are based on finite, monoidal, nilpotent, combinational, definite, suffix-closed, ordered, commutative, circular, non-counting, power-separating, or union-free languages., Comment: In Proceedings NCMA 2022, arXiv:2208.13015

7. Accepting Hybrid Networks of Evolutionary Processors with Special Topologies and Small Communication

Abstract

Starting from the fact that complete Accepting Hybrid Networks of Evolutionary Processors allow much communication between the nodes and are far from network structures used in practice, we propose in this paper three network topologies that restrict the communication: star networks, ring networks, and grid networks. We show that ring-AHNEPs can simulate 2-tag systems, thus we deduce the existence of a universal ring-AHNEP. For star networks or grid networks, we show a more general result; that is, each recursively enumerable language can be accepted efficiently by a star- or grid-AHNEP. We also present bounds for the size of these star and grid networks. As a consequence we get that each recursively enumerable can be accepted by networks with at most 13 communication channels and by networks where each node communicates with at most three other nodes., Comment: In Proceedings DCFS 2010, arXiv:1008.1270

17. PARETO GRAMMARS.

Abstract

We study grammatical counterparts of concepts of welfare economics as Pareto optimum and Pareto sets. As targets, we consider the numbers of nonterminals and productions of a grammar. For a context-free grammar G = (N,T, P, S), we set p(G) = (card(N), card(P)). We say that the pair (m, n) is a Pareto optimum for L if there is a context-free grammar G with L(G) = L and p(G) = (m, n) and there is no context-free grammar G' with L(G') = L, p(G') = (m',n'), and either m' < m and n' ≤ n or n' < n and m' ≤ m. The Pareto set P(L) of L is the set of all Pareto optima of L. We give some properties of Pareto optimal pairs and present a method to determine the Pareto set. Furthermore, we show that, for each natural number m, there is a language whose Pareto set has exactly m elements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
