Abstract

The article discusses the importance of the library manual to set up a dynamic knowledge base for the library in the U.S. An overview on the process for establishing the knowledge base for libraries is also presented. It states that the library manual should be directly pointed toward job descriptions for it to be an effective training tool for staff duties and new staffs. It cites that library manual could also be an evaluation tool to allow the librarian to review the several processes. It mentions that one advantage of a knowledge based manual is that the new librarian has a model to begin the job smoothly. Moreover, the guidelines and methodology of the library is clear for everyone to see.
