In this paper we report some results concerning the dependence of the pulsed voltage output on the exciting magnetic field and on the bias magnetic field applied at the exciting or receiving point, for [Fe.sub.77.5][Si.sub.7.5][B.sub.15] amorphous wires used as delay lines. The obtained results show a strong dependence of the pulsed voltage output on the values of the magnetic fields. Magnetic fields up to about 2000 A/m applied at the receiving point can be detected. Small magnetic fields applied at the exciting point can be detected using small values of the exciting magnetic field. Using this technique magnetic field sensors with high accuracy and sensitivity and absence of hysteresis can be realized. Such sensors can be formed in integrated arrays measuring the distribution of the magnetic field along the magnetostrictive delay line axis.

In this paper we report some results on the dependence of the pulsed voltage output on the applied torsion or tensile stress in [Fe.sub.77.5][Si.sub.77.5][B.sub.15] amorphous wires used as magnetostrictive delay lines. The obtained results show a not monotonic dependence of the response of the delay line on applied torsion. For applied tensile stress the response could be fitted by a linear curve for as-cast wires and by an exponential curve for annealed wires. The good ratio between minimum and maximum magnetostrictive delay line signals and the absence of hysteresis suggest the possibility to use this technique in load cells and torque sensors.

Results concerning the dependence of the inverse Wiedemann effect (IWE) voltage in [Fe.sub.77.5][Si.sub.7.5][B.sub.15] glass covered amorphous wire on the external d.c. magnetic field are presented. In the 0.01-0.015 mT and 0.02-0.03 mT ranges for torsion annealed and as-cast wires, respectively, there is a linear dependence of the IWE voltage on the d.c. magnetic field. The response sensitivity increases up to about 19 V/mT when the a.c. current frequency increases up to about 3 kHz. D.C. magnetic field sensing elements, based on the IWE effect, having small dimensions, very good mechanical and corrosion resistance can be realized using glass covered amorphous wires. The researches made on cows of Spotted with Moldavian black type breed have followed the establishment of antioxidants efficiency from "Benzamidazol" group over the reproduction function to cows with high production. It has been established the optimal dose for administrating the "Biofat" solution, as well as the interval between administrations. The optimal dose for administrating the "Biofat" solution was of 0,20 - 0,25 mg/100 kg body weight. The administration of the solution gave the possibility for ameliorating the reproduction indexes to cows, changing as well the level of steroidal hormones and of peroxidase sanguine lipids. Background: Neurological deterioration and mortality are frequent in neurosurgical patients transferred to tertiary centers, but the precise predictors leading to them are unclear., Objective: To analyze and quantify risk factors predicting deterioration and death in neurosurgery transfers., Methods: A consecutive review of all transfers with cranial pathology to a tertiary academic neurosurgery service was performed over a 2-year period. Risk factors including demographics, medical comorbidities, hydrocephalus, anticoagulant use, transfer diagnosis, Glasgow Coma Scale score, and transfer time were reviewed., Results: A total of 1429 transfers were studied, including 154 (10.8%) instances of neurological decline in transit and 99 mortalities (6.9%). On multivariate analysis, significant predictors of decline were hydrocephalus ( P = .005, odds ratio [OR] 2) and use of clopidogrel ( P = .003, OR 4.3), warfarin ( P = .004, OR 2.6), or other systemic anticoagulants ( P < .001, OR 10.1). Age ( P = .004), hydrocephalus ( P = .006, OR 2.1), renal failure ( P = .05, OR 2.3), and use of clopidogrel ( P = .003, OR 4.6) or warfarin ( P = .03, OR 2.3) were found to be predictive of death. Analysis by transfer diagnosis found patients with intracerebral hemorrhage had the highest incidence of mortality (12.7%, P = .003, OR 2). Patients who ultimately died were transferred faster than survivors, but this did not achieve significance., Conclusion: Neurosurgery patients are vulnerable to deterioration in transit and exhibit several patterns predictive of mortality. Olfactory ensheathing cell tumour (OECT) and olfactory groove schwannoma (OGS) are among the rarest intracranial tumour types that develop within anterior cranial fossa. These tumours share several similarities, including radiological and histological aspects, and only immunohistochemical staining can differentiate between them. We report a case of OECT occurring in a 28-year-old woman with a history of complex partial seizures, emotional lability and anosmia. Radiological features showed a predominantly left subfrontal extra-axial mass. Total excision of the tumour, connected to the cribriform plate and contiguous to the left olfactory bulb, was performed. Histological examination suggested an atypical schwannoma; however, immunohistochemical staining was strongly positive for S-100 protein but negative for both epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) and CD 57 (Leu-7). The final diagnosis was olfactory ensheathing cell tumour. We describe the third case of OECT and emphasize the important role of immunohistochemical staining in diagnosis: awareness of this entity, and use of immunohistochemistry help to distinguish it from OGS.
