The objectives of this paper are to explore the correlation of kinetic indices of SJ (squat jump) and CMJ (counter-movement jump) and the differences of lower limb strength mechanics indexes of table tennis, badminton and tennis players under SJ and CMJ. This study included 60 male collegiate athletes, 20 each from table tennis, badminton, and tennis. Subjects performed SJ and CMJ tests on a force platform and the vertical jump data were analyzed. Table tennis, badminton and tennis players demonstrated significant differences in the SJ and CMJ assessments. Badminton players outperformed table tennis players in terms of peak power (PP) (p = 0.005) and peak velocity (PV) (p = 0.017). Badminton players beat table tennis players in PV (p = 0.028), PP (p = 0.022), fast twitch fibers (FTF) (p = 0.033) and pre-stretch effect (EP) (p = 0.0004). Tennis players exhibited lower peak force (PF) (p = 0.006) indicators than badminton players. For athletes in all three sports, the SJ test markers (vertical jump displacement, PF, PP and PV) demonstrated a strong positive correlation. There was a highly significant positive correlation between VJD and PF, PP, PV and FTF among badminton players. Significant positive connections were discovered between PF, PP, PV, FTF and EP, as well as between PP and PV and FTF and EP. PV and FTF had a very strong positive correlation, as did EP, PV and FTF. College badminton players had higher vertical jumps than table tennis and tennis players. In addition to vertical jump height, PP (power production), PV (power velocity) and FTF (force-time factors) are important markers for assessing the success of vertical jumps in athletes’ daily training. These findings can assist coaches and athletes develop better vertical jump training programs.

Purpose The Bone And MicroBiOme Onset (BAMBOO) study is an ongoing prospective observational cohort study conducted in Tianjin, China, aiming to determine age-appropriate trajectories for microbiome maturation and bone development and to identify the influence of dietary factors in the process.Participants The recruitment started in September 2021 and was completed in February 2023. A total of 1380 subjects were recruited, 690 at birth (group 1) and 690 at 6 months of age (group 2). Groups 1 and 2 will be followed up for 12 months and 36 months, respectively.Findings to date The age of the mothers was 31.1±3.7 (mean±SD), and the birth weight of infants was 3.3±0.5 kg with an incidence of caesarean section 50.4%. Food diary information of the first 100 subjects showed that 64 food items were introduced by 6 months. A pilot microbiome analysis revealed that at the species level, bacterial communities were composed of mostly Bacteroides dorei, Bacteroides vulgatus and Escherichia coli, which were consistent with that of previous reports. Feasibility assessments of breast milk vitamin D and human milk oligosaccharides were validated through certified reference measurements. The early data assessment showed a high reliability of the data generated from this study.Future plans Data collection will be completed in August 2025. Four stage-statistical analyses will be performed as the cohort reaches certain age thresholds before the final report. Analysis of BAMBOO data will be used to develop age-appropriate trajectories for microbiome maturation and bone development for children aged 0–3 years and investigate the contribution of dietary factors in the process.Trial registration number ChiCTR2100049972

The present study introduces MBSCSO, a novel optimizer derived from Sand Cat Swarm Optimization (SCSO), with the aim of addressing inherent limitations in the original SCSO algorithm. In MBSCSO, the initial implementation of the enhanced Circle chaotic mapping combined with dynamic opposition-based learning (ECM-OBL) strategy, aims to enhance the global exploration capability of algorithms in the initial stage. Additionally, a nonlinear sensitivity factor (NSF) is adopted to improve the balance between exploration and exploitation. The adaptive alert strategy (AAS), Levy flight strategy (LFS), adaptive Sinh-Cosh spiral attack strategy (ASCAS) and dynamic random search technique (DRST) are designed to enhance the overall performance and efficiency of the algorithm. Finally, the superiority of the presented MBSCSO is validated through comprehensive evaluations on 64 benchmark functions and five typical engineering problems, which clearly demonstrates that the MBSCSO algorithm consistently outperforms or achieves comparable performance to other state-of-the-art optimization approaches.

This study aimed to compare lower limb strength disparities between male college volleyball and basketball players in four distinct vertical jump types. We recruited 100 second-level (above the national standard) male college athletes (50 basketball and 50 volleyball players) from Capital University of Physical Education and Sports who volunteered to participate. We assessed the performance of each athlete with regards to the squat jump (SJ), countermovement jump (CMJ), continuous jump with straight legs (CJs), and continuous jump with bent legs (CJb). Data analysis was performed by independent samples t-tests in SPSS version 25.0. software. In the CMJ test, volleyball players had a significantly higher vertical jump displacement (VJD; p = 0.047, t = −2.018), squat displacement (SD; p = 0.005, t = −2.883), peak force (p = 0.023, t = −1.964), and peak velocity (p = 0.011, t = −1.687) than basketball players. In the SJ test, volleyball players had a significantly higher VJD (p = 0.041, t = −1.21) and SD (p = 0.008, t = −1.46) than basketball players. In the CJs test, volleyball players had a significantly higher average vertical jump displacement (AVJD; p = 0.042, t = −2.067) than basketball players. In the CJb test, volleyball players had a significantly higher AVJD (p = 0.001, t = −3.448), average squat displacement (p = 0.017, t = −2.44), and average contact time (p = 0.045, t = −2.038) than basketball players. The overall vertical jump ability of college volleyball players was better than that of college basketball players. CMJ, SJ, CJs and CJb training should be included in daily training sessions and considered in the selection of basketball and volleyball players. In addition, coaches can use fast twitch Fibers, the effect of pre-stretch and k as the main evaluation indicators to assess daily training progress.

In this study, the Delphi method was used to construct the evaluation index system of the specific physical fitness of Chinese wheelchair badminton players. The Delphi method was used in the first two rounds to determine sport-specific strength and conditioning evaluation indexes for wheelchair badminton athletes. The Analytic Hierarchy Process was used in the third round to determine the weighting of each index. The results indicate that the recovery rate of questionnaires in the first two rounds was higher than 90%, the degree of expert authority was >80%, the degree of expert coordination in the second round was 0.350 and was greater than that in the first round (0.298), and significance testing of the coordination coefficient was significant (p < 0.001), thus indicating that expert opinions were consistent. Results during construction of the evaluation system were credible. Ultimately, we identified four primary indicators, 12 secondary indicators, and 30 tertiary indicators. The order of the four primary indices in terms of weighting was as follows: sport-specific skills (0.4406), sports qualities (0.2928), cardiorespiratory function (0.1828), and body shape (0.0838). We used the Delphi method to construct an evaluation index system for the sport-specific physical ability of elite male wheelchair badminton athletes. The index system exhibited high credibility and specificity for wheelchair badminton.

Summary: Monitoring disease response after intensive chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) currently requires invasive bone marrow biopsies, imposing a significant burden on patients. In contrast, cell-free tumor DNA (ctDNA) in peripheral blood, carrying tumor-specific mutations, offers a less-invasive assessment of residual disease. However, the relationship between ctDNA levels and bone marrow blast kinetics remains unclear. We explored this in 10 AML patients with NPM1 and IDH2 mutations undergoing initial chemotherapy. Comparison of mathematical mixed-effect models showed that (1) inclusion of blast cell death in the bone marrow, (2) transition of ctDNA to peripheral blood, and (3) ctDNA decay in peripheral blood describes kinetics of blast cells and ctDNA best. The fitted model allows prediction of residual bone marrow blast content from ctDNA, and its scaling factor, representing clonal heterogeneity, correlates with relapse risk. Our study provides precise insights into blast and ctDNA kinetics, offering novel avenues for AML disease monitoring.

Summary: Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) describes the age-related acquisition of somatic mutations in hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPC) leading to clonal blood cell expansion. Although CHIP mutations drive myeloid malignancies like myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) it is unknown if clonal expansion is attributable to changes in cell type kinetics, or involves reorganization of the hematopoietic hierarchy. Using computational modeling we analyzed differentiation and proliferation kinetics of cultured hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) from 8 healthy individuals, 7 CHIP, and 10 MDS patients. While the standard hematopoietic hierarchy explained HSPC kinetics in healthy samples, 57% of CHIP and 70% of MDS samples were best described with alternative hierarchies. Deregulated kinetics were found at various HSPC compartments with high inter-individual heterogeneity in CHIP and MDS, while altered HSC rates were most relevant in MDS. Quantifying kinetic heterogeneity in detail, we show that reorganization of the HSPC compartment is already detectable in the premalignant CHIP state.

BackgroundIndonesian children under-five have a high prevalence of micronutrient deficiencies. Improving young child feeding practices may be the solution. Increasing the consumption of appropriate milk products could help to reduce nutrient inadequacy.MethodsThe objective of this study was to assess nutrient inadequacy in Indonesian children to evaluate the potential improvement using dietary modeling analysis. Data from children aged 1–5 years from the Indonesian Individual Dietary Consumption Survey in 2014 were used in this analysis (n = 11,020). Diet modeling was conducted in two scenarios, substitution volume to volume and calories to calories.ResultsThe proportion of children consuming young child milk (YCM) was the highest compared to other milk types across all age groups, followed by condensed milk and cow’s milk. YCM, also called “Growing-Up Milk” (GUM), are marketed as a product specifically formulated for the nutritional needs of young children. YCM consumers had lower prevalence of inadequate intakes in iron, zinc, vitamins A, C and D across age groups when compared to condensed milk consumers. The prevalence of inadequate intakes of nutrients in condensed milk consumers was Vitamin A (67, 64%), folate (92, 91%), Vitamin D (87, 84%), iron (84, 76%), and zinc (76, 76%) in 1–2y and 3–4y, respectively. The substitution of condensed milk with a YCM reduced the prevalence of inadequate intakes of micronutrients, such as Vitamin A, vitamin D, folate, iron and zinc, which are important for immune function. YCM reduced the prevalence of inadequate intakes of micronutrients by 20–40% (Vit A and folate) and 40–50% (Vit D and zinc). The reduction of prevalence of inadequate iron intake was 31% in 1–2y and 63% in 3–4y.ConclusionThe prevalence of inadequate micronutrient intakes was high among children aged 1–5 years old in Indonesia. YCM consumers had better nutrient intake. The substitution of condensed milk with a YCM reduced the prevalence of inadequate of micronutrient intake. Thus, nutrient intakes could be improved by YCM consumption in 1–5 years old children in Indonesia, along with nutrition education on feeding practices.

The degradation process of wind turbines is greatly affected by external factors. Wind turbine maintenance costs are high. The regular maintenance of wind turbines can easily lead to over and insufficient maintenance. To solve the above problems, a stochastic degradation model (SDE, stochastic differential equation) is proposed to simulate the change of the state of the wind turbine. First, the average degradation trend is obtained by analyzing the properties of the stochastic degradation model. Then the average degradation model is used to describe the predictive degradation model. Then analyze the change trend between the actual degradation state and the predicted state of the wind turbine. Secondly, according to the update process theory, the effect of maintenance on the state of wind turbines is comprehensively analyzed to obtain the availability. Then based on the average degradation process, the optimal maintenance period of the wind turbine is obtained. The optimal maintenance time of wind turbines is obtained by optimizing the maintenance cycle through availability constraints. Finally, an onshore wind turbine is used as an example to verification. Based on the historical fault data of wind turbines, the optimized maintenance decision is obtained by analyzing the reliability and maintenance cost of wind turbines under periodic and non-equal cycle conditions. The research results show that maintenance based on this model can effectively improve the performance of wind turbines and reduce maintenance costs.

Summary: Survival or apoptosis is a binary decision in individual cells. However, at the cell-population level, a graded increase in survival of colony-forming unit-erythroid (CFU-E) cells is observed upon stimulation with erythropoietin (Epo). To identify components of Janus kinase 2/signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 (JAK2/STAT5) signal transduction that contribute to the graded population response, we extended a cell-population-level model calibrated with experimental data to study the behavior in single cells. The single-cell model shows that the high cell-to-cell variability in nuclear phosphorylated STAT5 is caused by variability in the amount of Epo receptor (EpoR):JAK2 complexes and of SHP1, as well as the extent of nuclear import because of the large variance in the cytoplasmic volume of CFU-E cells. 24–118 pSTAT5 molecules in the nucleus for 120 min are sufficient to ensure cell survival. Thus, variability in membrane-associated processes is sufficient to convert a switch-like behavior at the single-cell level to a graded population-level response.

Eating habits of lactating women can influence the nutrient composition of human milk, which in turn influences nutrient intake of breastfed infants. The aim of the present study was to identify food patterns and nutritional adequacy among lactating women in Europe. Data from a multicentre European longitudinal cohort (ATLAS study) were analysed to identify dietary patterns using cluster analysis. Dietary information from 180 lactating women was obtained using 3-d food diaries over the first 4 months of lactation. Four dietary patterns were identified: ‘vege-oils’, ‘fish-poultry’, ‘confectionery-salads’ and ‘mixed dishes’. Nutrition adequacy was not significantly different between clusters, but the ‘vege-oils’ cluster tended to yield the highest nutrition adequacy measured by Mean Adequacy Ratio. Compared with European dietary reference values (DRVs) for lactating women, women in all clusters had inadequate intakes of energy, pantothenic acid, folate, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin D, zinc, iodine, potassium and linoleic acid. Adequate intake for fibre and α-linolenic acid was only achieved in the ‘vege-oils’ cluster. Overall, fat intake was above DRVs. The present study showed that various dietary patterns do not adequately supply all nutrients, indicating a need to promote overall healthy dietary habits for European lactating women.

Reproducibility and reusability of the results of data-based modeling studies are essential. Yet, there has been-so far-no broadly supported format for the specification of parameter estimation problems in systems biology. Here, we introduce PEtab, a format which facilitates the specification of parameter estimation problems using Systems Biology Markup Language (SBML) models and a set of tab-separated value files describing the observation model and experimental data as well as parameters to be estimated. We already implemented PEtab support into eight well-established model simulation and parameter estimation toolboxes with hundreds of users in total. We provide a Python library for validation and modification of a PEtab problem and currently 20 example parameter estimation problems based on recent studies.

Enterprises acquire heterogeneous knowledge through external knowledge search and adapt to the change of external environment, which is of great significance to enterprise breakthrough innovation. This paper takes the innovation ecosystem as the boundary of the research paradigm. Based on innovation ecosystem theory, knowledge management theory and enterprise innovation theory, this paper constructs a moderated mediation model of the enterprise knowledge search, knowledge integration and breakthrough innovation under the characteristics of innovation ecosystem network. This model is tested on the survey data of 344 technology enterprise and manufacturing industries including R&D departments in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The research results show that: knowledge integration plays part of the intermediary role between knowledge search and enterprise breakthrough innovation; the larger the network scale, the stronger the network connection, the stronger the intermediary role of knowledge integration on the relationship between knowledge search and enterprise breakthrough innovation. The research results reveal the important role of the innovation ecosystem in enterprise breakthrough innovation. At the same time, the research on knowledge search and enterprise breakthrough innovation should consider the network characteristics of innovation ecosystem and the ability of enterprise knowledge integration.

Curcumin is an active ingredient with multiple functions, but its application is often restricted due to its poor water solubility, weak stability, and consequently low bioaccessibility. Based on this, the aim of this work is to develop a new vehicle to overcome these restrictions. Here we developed a curcumin-loaded nanoemulsion and then curcumin-loaded silica-lipid hybrid microparticles through emulsification and vacuum drying, respectively. The loading of curcumin in the nanoemulsion and microparticles was (0.30±0.02) and (0.67±0.02) %, respectively. FTIR and XRD analyses of microparticles revealed that curcumin was encapsulated in porous, amorphous silica. In vitro antioxidant activities showed that the encapsulation would not affect the antioxidant activity of curcumin. In vitro simulated digestion indicated that nanoemulsion and microparticles had higher curcumin bioaccessibility than the control group. The storage stability of microparticles remained the same during 6 weeks in the dark at 4, 25 and 40 °C. Moreover, the microparticles had a better chemical stability than nanoemulsion under the light. The cell viability was over 80 % when the concentration of nanocarriers was less than 45 μg/mL. Hence, the microparticles could be a promising means to load curcumin and improve its solubility, light stability and bioaccessibility

Early life is characterized by developmental milestones such as holding up the head, turning over, sitting up and walking that are typically achieved sequentially in specific time windows. Similarly, the early gut microbiome maturation can be characterized by specific temporal microorganism acquisition, colonization and selection with differential functional features over time. This orchestrated microbial sequence occurs from birth during the first years of age before the microbiome reaches an adult-like composition and function between 3 and 5 years of age. Increasingly, these different steps of microbiome development are recognized as crucial windows of opportunity for long term health, primarily linked to appropriate immune and metabolic development. For instance, microbiome disruptors such as preterm and Cesarean-section birth, malnutrition and antibiotic use are associated with increased risk to negatively affect long-term immune and metabolic health. Different age discriminant microbiome taxa and functionalities are used to describe age-appropriate microbiome development, and advanced modelling techniques enable an understanding and visualization of an optimal microbiome maturation trajectory. Specific microbiome features can be related to later health conditions, however, whether such features have a causal relationship is the topic of intense research. Early life nutrition is an important microbiome modulator, and ‘Mother Nature’ provides the model with breast milk as the sole source of nutrition for the early postnatal period, while dietary choices during the prenatal and weaning period are to a large extent guided by tradition and culture. Increasing evidence suggests prenatal maternal diet and infant and child nutrition impact the infant microbiome trajectory and immune competence development. The lack of a universal feeding reference for such phases represents a knowledge gap, but also a great opportunity to provide adequate nutritional guidance to maintain an age-appropriate microbiome for long term health. Here, we provide a narrative review and perspective on our current understanding of age-appropriate microbiome maturation, its relation to long term health and how nutrition shapes and influences this relationship.

A novel Al–7Hf–1.2P master alloy with HfP particles was successfully synthesized by in-situ melt reaction, in which HfP particles exhibited hexagonal plates in three–dimensional spaces. Under the optimized conditions, i.e. addition level of 2.5% Al–7Hf–1.2P master alloy, melting temperature of 780 °C and holding time of 60 min, the primary Mg2Si in Mg2Si/Al composites can be significantly refined from more than 121.70 μm to 19.20 μm, with morphologies improved from coarse dendrite to octahedron or truncated octahedron obviously. Furthermore, it was found that Hf also has a significant modification effect on eutectic Mg2Si simultaneously. However, the microstructure of Mg2Si/Al composite becomes slightly coarser with further increase of Hf addition exceeding 1.5%. Meanwhile, it was found that Hf precipitates in the form of HfSi2 with near spherical shape. Based on FESEM photo-micrographs, it was first observed that HfP could act as the heterogeneous nucleation sites for primary Mg2Si particles, resulting in the excellent refinement of Mg2Si/Al composites. Accurate and continuous monitoring of leaf area index (LAI), a widely-used vegetation structural parameter, is crucial to characterize crop growth conditions and forecast crop yield. Meanwhile, advancements in collecting field LAI measurements have provided strong support for validating remote-sensing-derived LAI. This paper evaluates the performance of LAI retrieval from multi-source, remotely sensed data through comparisons with continuous field LAI measurements. Firstly, field LAI was measured continuously over periods of time in 2018 and 2019 using LAINet, a continuous LAI measurement system deployed using wireless sensor network (WSN) technology, over an agricultural region located at the Heihe watershed at northwestern China. Then, cloud-free images from optical satellite sensors, including Landsat 7 the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+), Landsat 8 the Operational Land Imager (OLI), and Sentinel-2A/B Multispectral Instrument (MSI), were collected to derive LAI through inversion of the PROSAIL radiation transfer model using a look-up-table (LUT) approach. Finally, field LAI data were used to validate the multi-temporal LAI retrieved from remote-sensing data acquired by different satellite sensors. The results indicate that good accuracy was obtained using different inversion strategies for each sensor, while Green Chlorophyll Index (CIgreen) and a combination of three red-edge bands perform better for Landsat 7/8 and Sentinel-2 LAI inversion, respectively. Furthermore, the estimated LAI has good consistency with in situ measurements at vegetative stage (coefficient of determination R2 = 0.74, and root mean square error RMSE = 0.53 m2 m−2). At the reproductive stage, a significant underestimation was found (R2 = 0.41, and 0.89 m2 m−2 in terms of RMSE). This study suggests that time-series LAI can be retrieved from multi-source satellite data through model inversion, and the LAINet instrument could be used as a low-cost tool to provide continuous field LAI measurements to support LAI retrieval.

Maintenance decision analysis is necessary to ensure the safe and stable operation of wind turbine equipment. To address gearboxes with a high failure rate in wind turbines, this paper establishes a new stochastic differential equation model of gearbox state transition to maximize the utilization of gearboxes. This model divides the state of the gearbox into two parts: internal degradation and external random interference. Weibull distribution and polynomial approximation were used to construct the internal degradation model of the gearbox. The external random interference is simulated by Brownian motion. On the basis of the analysis of monitoring data, the parameters of the gearbox state model were solved using the Newton–Raphson iterative method and entropy method. The state change of the gearbox was simulated in MATLAB, and the residual value between the predicted state and the real state was calculated. Compared with the state transformation model constructed by the traditional ordinary differential equation and the gamma distribution, the Weibull polynomial approximation stochastic model can better reflect the state of the device. With reliability set as the decision goal, the maintenance time of the gearbox is predicted, and the validity of the model is verified through case analysis.

SnCl4·5H2O is a highly efficient catalyst in the hydration of terminal alkynes that affords carbonyl compounds in high to good yields. Under the optimized reaction conditions, the moderate to excellent yields of corresponding ketones were obtained when the aromatic and aliphatic terminal alkynes were used as substrates. With using diphenylacetylene as an internal alkyne, the corresponding ketone was not detected in the reaction mixture.

The immune response is essential for survival by destroying microorganisms and pre-cancerous cells. However, inflammation, one aspect of this response, can result in short- and long-term deleterious side-effects. Mclk1⁺/⁻ mutant mice can be long-lived despite displaying a hair-trigger inflammatory response and chronically activated macrophages as a result of high mitochondrial ROS generation. Here we ask whether this phenotype is beneficial or simply tolerated. We used models of infection by Salmonella serovars and found that Mclk1⁺/⁻ mutants mount a stronger immune response, control bacterial proliferation better, and are resistant to cell and tissue damage resulting from the response, including fibrosis and types of oxidative damage that are considered to be biomarkers of aging. Moreover, these same types of tissue damage were found to be low in untreated 23 months-old mutants. We also examined the initiation of tumour growth after transplantation of mouse LLC1 carcinoma cells into Mclk1⁺/⁻ mutants, as well as during spontaneous tumorigenesis in Mclk1⁺/⁻Trp53⁺/⁻ double mutants. Tumour latency was increased by the Mclk1⁺/⁻ genotype in both models. Furthermore, we used the transplantation model to show that splenic CD8⁺ T lymphocytes from Mclk1⁺/⁻ graft recipients show enhanced cytotoxicity against LLC1 cells in vitro. Mclk1⁺/⁻ mutants thus display an association of an enhanced immune response with partial protection from age-dependent processes and from pathologies similar to those that are found with increased frequency during the aging process. This suggests that the immune phenotype of these mutants might contribute to their longevity. We discuss how these findings suggest a broader view of how the immune response might impact the aging process.
