Transformation toughening, based on the martensitic T-ZrO2 → M-ZrO2 phase transformation, causes the high strength of ZrO2-based composites. The reversible martensitic phase transformation of fine-grained composites ZrO2–12 mol% CeO2 occurs below ambient temperature. Bulk material 12Се-TZP is characterized by “shape memory”, high fracture toughness (К1с up to 35 МПа·м 0,5) and tolerance to aging. Properties of composites depend on the properties of the starting powders. Hydrothermal synthesis in an alkaline medium is perspective for producing nanocrystalline powders of ZrO2-based solid solutions . Variations of physico-chemical properties of hydrothermal nanocrystalline 88 ZrO2–12CeO2 (mol%) powder after synthesis and thermal treatment in the 400–1300 °C range were investigated. It was found that after hydrothermal synthesis the thermodynamically non-equilibrium system consisting of a low temperature metastable cubic solid solution based on ZrO2 (F-ZrO2) and an X-ray amorphous phase were formed. The primary particles size was ≈ 10 nm. The powder specific surface area was 107 m2/g. Low-temperature F-ZrO2 remained up to 700 °C. Temperature increase up to 850 °C was accompanied by the F-ZrO2→T-ZrO2 phase transformation. This transformation is completed at 1000 °C. The powder specific surface area decreases from 107 m2/g to 0.27 m2/g during thermal treatment. Variation of powder specific surface area depends on both the ZrO2- based solid solution phase transformations and the sintering of freely poured powders. The primary particles size of the ZrO2-based solid solution increased to 20 nm. Morphology of powder varies topologically continuously during thermal treatment. The unit cell volume of T-ZrO2 phase decreased from 135.32 to 135.20 A after thermal treatment in the 1150–1300 °C range. Under these conditions the T-ZrO2 tetragonality increases from 1.0137 to 1.0139. Powder was characterized by high activity to sinter ing. The investigation results will be used for microstructural design of high-performance ZrO2-based composites., Досліджено особливості зміни фазового складу, питомої поверхні та визначено параметри граток нанокристалічного порошку складу (мол.%) 88 ZrO2 –12 CeO2 після гідротермального синтезу в лужному середовищі та термічної обробки в інтервалі 400 –1300 °С. Одержані дані необхідні для мікроструктурного проектування композитів на основі ZrO2.

Разработана математическая модель изменения распределения зерен на рабочей поверхности абразивного инструмента в результате их радиального износа скалыванием в процессе шлифования. В модели учитывается смещение всех вершин к периферии на величину износа круга за один оборот. Все разновидности изнашивания поверхности абразивного инструмента объединены в три вида: механическое истирание вершины зерна, скалывание вершины, вырывание зерна из связки. Допускается, что за время контакта на одной вершине можно реализовать все три вида изнашивания. Вид изнашивания определяется по максимальной величине радиального износа за рассматриваемый цикл. Принимается, что каждое зерно за рассматриваемый период взаимодействия подвергается только одному виду изнашивания, а вероятности этих событий составляют полную группу. Существенной новизной проекта является представление процесса изнашивания вершин абразивных зерен при единичном акте взаимодействия, как марковского процесса с дискретным временем состоянием, а процесса формирования рабочей поверхности абразивного инструмента, как суперпозицию таких марковских процессов. В представленной модели переходные вероятности рассчитаны по экспериментально полученному закону распределения износа вершин зерен при скалывании. Изложена методика и результаты экспериментального исследования изнашивания зерен скалыванием при шлифовании. Определен радиальный износ вершин зерен при микроцарапании отдельными зернами и глубина резания, при которой происходит скалывание. Доказано, что распределение износа с наибольшей вероятностью подчиняется закону Вейбулла. Установлены функциональные зависимости параметров закона распределения от глубины скалывания. Модель может быть использована для изучения изменения рельефа рабочей поверхности при шлифовании абразивными инструментами различной зернистости и вида материала. A mathematical model changes the distribution of grains on the working surface of the abrasive tool as a result of radial wear chipping during grinding. The model takes into account the displacement of the vertices of the periphery by the amount of wheel wear per revolution. The essential novelty of the project is to provide a process of wear of abrasive grains at the vertices of a single act of interaction as a Markov process with discrete time state, and the formation process of the working surface of the abrasive tool, such as a superposition of Markov processes. Nephronophthisis (NPHP) is the major cause of pediatric renal failure, yet the disease remains poorly understood, partly due to the lack of appropriate animal models. Joubert syndrome (JBTS) is an inherited ciliopathy giving rise to NPHP with cerebellar vermis aplasia and retinal degeneration. Among patients with JBTS and a cerebello-oculo-renal phenotype, mutations in CEP290 (NPHP6) are the most common genetic lesion. We present a Cep290 gene trap mouse model of JBTS that displays the kidney, eye, and brain abnormalities that define the syndrome. Mutant mice present with cystic kidney disease as neonates. Newborn kidneys contain normal amounts of lymphoid enhancer-binding factor 1 (Lef1) and transcription factor 1 (Tcf1) protein, indicating normal function of the Wnt signaling pathway; however, an increase in the protein Gli3 repressor reveals abnormal Hedgehog (Hh) signaling evident in newborn kidneys. Collecting duct cells from mutant mice have abnormal primary cilia and are unable to form spheroid structures in vitro. Treatment of mutant cells with the Hh agonist purmorphamine restored normal spheroid formation. Renal epithelial cells from a JBTS patient with CEP290 mutations showed similar impairments to spheroid formation that could also be partially rescued by exogenous stimulation of Hh signaling. These data implicate abnormal Hh signaling as the cause of NPHP and suggest that Hh agonists may be exploited therapeutically.

Ni/NiO nanopowders have been synthesized using thermal decomposition of nickel acetate hexaammine in air. Obtained powders have been characterized by IR-spectroscopy, XRD and TG, DTA, DTG and HR TEM. Thermal decomposition of nickel ammine complexes occurs with forming nickel hydroxide, carbonate and hydroxocarbonate ammines precursors. Mean particle size of nickel and nickel oxide phases in powders depends on temperature. In the temperature range from 350 to 500 degrees Celsius the particle size of nickel oxide has grown from 5 to 25 nm and nickel from 50 to 55 nm.
