У металевих конструкціях, які отримують при експлуатації значні механічні і радіаційні навантаження, виникають структурні альтерації, що нерівномірно розподілені по глибині матеріалу. У такій же мірі складними об'єктами структурних досліджень є і матеріали з модифікованою поверхнею, включаючи тонкі покриття і мультишари. Розвиток методів селективної за глибиною пошарової рентген-дифракційної діагностики є нетривіальним завданням, спрямованим на контроль ефективної глибини збору структурної інформації. На сьогодні найбільш розроблені підходи включають: (а) асиметричну (ковзну) геометрію та (б) застосування первинного випромінювання з різною проникаючою здатністю. В обох випадках для визначення товщини шару ефективного відбивання необхідно виконати калібрувальні процедури із використанням покриттів або двошарових систем відомої товщини. У даній роботі вивчені можливості рентгенівської дифракції для аналізу зразків сталі та заліза з тонким (мікронним) мідним покриттям. За ослабленням інтенсивності ліній підкладки заліза оцінена товщина мідного покриття. Із застосуванням несиметричної (скісної) зйомки встановлено умови зникнення ліній від підкладки, що дозволило з прийнятною точністю оцінювати товщину шару сталі, який бере участь в утворенні дифракційної картини. Апробовано метод диференціальної за глибиною оцінки структурних характеристик "інтерфейсної" і умовно "об'ємної" областей підкладки α-Fe шляхом застосування поліхроматичного кобальтового випромінювання. Обговорено обмеження апробованого підходу і можливості його застосування до більш широкого спектру сталей. Розглянуті особливості рентген-дифракційних досліджень модельних систем типу "сталь-покриття" або "сталь-модифікована поверхня" важливі при вивченні поверхневих радіаційно-стимульованих структурних альтерацій в сталях енергетичного машинобудування. In the metal structures that are subjected to significant mechanical and radiation loads during their operation, structural alterations occur, which are unevenly distributed over the depth of the material. Materials with a modified surface, including thin coatings and multilayers, are equally challenging objects for structural studies. The development of methods for depth-selective layer-by-layer X-ray diffraction diagnostics is a nontrivial task aimed at controlling the effective depth of the collection of structural information. The most developed approaches to date include: (a) asymmetric (glancing-angle) geometry and (b) the use of primary radiation with different penetrating power. In both cases, calibration procedures with coatings or two-layer systems of known thickness are required to determine the thickness of an effectively reflective layer. In this work, we have studied the possibilities of X-ray diffraction examinations of steel and iron samples with a thin (micron) copper coating. The thickness of the copper coating was estimated from the intensity decrease of the iron substrate’s diffraction lines. With the use of asymmetric (glancingincidence) measurements, the conditions for the disappearance of lines from the substrate were established, which made it possible to estimate with acceptable accuracy the thickness of the steel layer participating in the formation of the diffraction pattern. The method of the depth-differentiated estimation of the structural characteristics of the "interface" and conditionally "bulk" regions of the α-Fe substrate by using polychromatic cobalt radiation is tested. The limitations of this approach and the possibility of its application to a wider range of steels are discussed. The considered aspects of X-ray diffraction studies of model systems of the "steel-coating" or "steel-modified surface" type are important in the study of surface radiation-stimulated structural alterations in steels of power engineering.

Експериментально досліджено кінетику видалення водню з електролітично насичених зразків двох різних класів сталі (феритної і аустенітной). Температурні залежності виділення водню були отримані за допомогою установки вакуумної температурної екстракції з мас-спектрометричною реєстрацією утворених летючих компонент. Для обох марок сталі процес виділення водню можна представити таким, що складається з двох стадій, які накладаються одна на одну з різним ступенем розділення. Припускаючи, що кожна стадія відповідає певній формі присутності водню у матеріалі (специфічному місцю локалізації), кінетичні параметри процесу видалення газу оцінювались для обох стадії двох зразків сталі. Ідентичність/схожість кінетичних параметрів першої стадії вказує на однакову форму знаходження водню в обох зразках сталі. Вбачається/припускається, що це водень поверхневій локалізації. Кінетичні параметри другої ("високотемпературної") стадії мають більш суттєві відмінності, що може свідчити про відмінності у кінетиці температурного видалення водню з приповерхневих шарів α-Fe і γ-Fe. Дані параметри можуть слугувати маркерами локалізації водню у різних сталях та давати можливість порівнювати співвідношення різних форм знаходження водню у таких матеріалах. The hydrogen removal from electrolytically hydrogenated samples of two different steels (ferritic and austenitic) was experimentally studied. The temperature dependences of hydrogen evolution were obtained using the set-up with hot vacuum extraction and mass spectrometric registration of the volatile components. For both steels, the process of hydrogen evolution can be described as consisting of two stages, which are overlapped with different degrees of resolution. In assumption that each moiety is related to a certain form of hydrogen in material (specific trapping site), the kinetic parameters of the process of the gas extraction were estimated for two stages of both samples. The similarity of the kinetic parameters of the first stage indicates the same form (or location) of hydrogen in both steel samples. This is believed to be surface localized hydrogen. The kinetic parameters of the second ("high temperature") stage have more significant differences, which may indicate different kinetics of the thermally stimulated removal of hydrogen from the near-surface layers of α-Fe and γ-Fe. These parameters can serve as markers of the localization of hydrogen in various steels and allow one to compare the ratios of different forms of hydrogen in such materials.

The paper discusses the development of the Center for collective use device «Accelerated Mass Spectrometry» IAP NASU. The results of the first experiments on the dating of some archaeological samples is presented. The main tasks aimed at further development of the Center are given.

The objective of the research is to find out the features of location of the calcified deposits in the walls of the aorta and the extent of its heterogeneity.

The thermal behavior of bone tissue has been investigated in order to assess how it is affected struc-turally by incineration. The need of the development of such technology is caused by big number of pa-tients with oncology and dystrophic bone tissue diseases which use the artificial bone tissue replacement. The samples like small plates that cut from local area of bone fragment, were exposed to annealing in tem-perature range 560-720 C and were characterized by XRD, SEM, EPMA, XPS and method of differential dissolution. The paper describes the influence of the imposition of static magnetic field on brushite crystallization. Two different configurations of the magnetic field were used. The flasks with the precipitates were placed near the different poles. It was shown that changing the magnetic field configuration and positioning the samples in proximity to north or south poles can greatly affect their crystallinity and texture with most of them having the preferred orientation along the b-axis according to the X-Ray diffraction data. The imposition of the magnetic field also influences the microstrain ratio decreasing it significantly. It was also verified [1] that the Mg substrate availability decreases the crystallinity of DCPD. The micrographs of the nanoparticles with the different magnifications were obtained by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) with electronic diffraction and X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to study structural features of nanosized magnetite Fe3O4, which was synthesized using polymeric matrices (polysaccharide chitosan, at alias). From the received data it was revealed that growth inhibition and size stabilization of Fe3O4 nanoparticles were strongly affected by polysaccharide matrix. It was also observed that directional size decrease of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was accompanied by the increasing defectiveness of crystal lattice and decreasing unit cell size. The effectiveness of complementary use of both TEM with electronic diffraction and XRD techniques for structural and substructural parameters determination while studying magnetite nanosized particles synthesized in polysaccharide matrices is shown in this paper. The experimental results of the measurement of the tissue constituent elements distribution, as well as impurity elements in the tissues around a Ti-implant with protective TiO₂ oxide coating are presented. Study of morphology, qualitative and quantitative analysis were carried out by means of scanning electron microscopy method with energy dispersive X-ray analysis. The results show weak migration of Ti into the bone tissue near the interface and protective role of the oxide coatings. Представлено експериментальні результати дослідження розподілу елементів, що входять до складу кісткової тканини та слідів елементів у тканинах навколо титанового імплантату з захисним покриттям ТiO₂. Дослідження морфології, кількісний та якісний аналіз проводили за допомогою методу скануючої електронної мікроскопії з рентгенівським мікроаналізом. Результати показали слабку міграцію титану в кісткову тканину біля інтерфейсу та біосумісність оксидних покриттів. Представлены экспериментальные результаты исследования распределения элементов, составляющих костную ткань и примесей элементов в тканях вокруг титанового имплантата с защитным покрытием ТiO₂. Изучение морфологии, количественный и качественный анализ проводили с помощью метода сканирующей электронной микроскопии с рентгеновским микроанализом. Результаты показали слабую миграцию титана в костную ткань возле интерфейса и биосовместимость оксидных покрытий.
