Due to a rising land demand for the construction of large-scale PV-systems, there is increasing competition between energy and food production. A new emerging segment within the PV market called agrivoltaics is providing a contributing solution to this issue by co-using the land for both crop cultivation and PV energy. Agrivoltaics is a relatively new application in Sweden, so far there is only one research site in Kärrbo Prästgård, Västerås, which was built in 2020. This thesis aims to examine how the basic layout of a PV system affects the irradiance distribution of an agrivoltaic system located in Sweden. With the aim of reaching an effective light sharing to provide the crops with acceptable growing conditions while producing as much electricity as possible. Methodologically, this was done by performing optical light simulations for a big number of different PV layouts. The results show how the module row distance and the array height have the most significant influence on the total irradiance distribution throughout the year. Furthermore, by altering the clearance height and the system azimuth, the irradiance uniformity on the ground can be improved, which results in more similar growing conditions for all the cultivated crops. Arguments are also given for why it is helpful to consider the temporal distribution of the ground irradiance. This thesis has shown that there are PV system layouts that provide low degrees of shading for the crops cultivated on the ground beneath the modules. However, if agrivoltaics is a suitable application for the Swedish climate or not is still an open question. Economic analysis is needed to examine the profitability of agrivoltaic systems in Sweden, and experimental studies on how the shading from the PV modules affect the crop growth in practice would also be useful. In the result section, there are some example layouts given for different degrees of tolerated ground shading which can be used when planning for future agrivoltaic parks. The results generated in the optical light simulations will be accessible for future research. These data files can be found attached together with this report on the DiVA portal.

The aim of the project was to examine the possible increase of electric power usage for electric cars with retained capacity in the electric grid of Falkenberg Energi AB. This also included identifying the fragile components in the grid. In order to examine this, a model of the grid was constructed with loads designed to mimic electric vehicle charging. The simulation generated a list showing the most stressed nodes in descending order. The results showed that there was a small number of nodes in the grid that became overloaded in certain hours of the year. The cables , on the other hand, were not overloaded at any point of the year.

Aim: The aim of the Quality Improvement project, funded by the Health Foundation, was to further evaluate the Congenital Heart Assessment Tool (CHAT) and to implement quality improvements in the tool, creating a second version called CHAT2. \ud \ud Methods: This poster will present evaluation of CHAT2 (within THF project) by parents and health care professionals (HCP), led by Dr Kerry Gaskin, through a clinical simulation exercise with HCPs at the University of Worcester (20th/22nd June 2017) and a focus group with parents during a workshop at the Little Hearts Matter Open Day (17th March 2018). Participants’ experiences relating to the feasibility, acceptability and usability of the CHAT2 were explored by using the clinical scenarios to role play situations where parents and HCPs would need to use the CHAT2. The clinical scenarios with HCPs were video recorded with and audio recorded with parents. Participants were asked to feedback at the end of the scenarios (verbally and written), evaluating the CHAT2 for ease of use and suggestions for implementation in practice.\ud \ud Findings: Four themes emerged from the data analysis including: Suggestions for improved documentation; Aspects to consider during preparation and in dialogue with parents; Preparation of health care professionals; Communication\ud \ud Conclusions: The project team need to focus on the preparation of a toolkit for HCPs so that everyone knows how to use the CHAT2. The toolkit needs structure to indicate how and when CHAT2 should be used before discharge as well as creating a standard discharge pack for centres to use nationally.

Aim: To explore staff experiences and perceptions of telephone communication with parents\ud Method: All HCPs and Medical Secretaries taking telephone calls from parents were invited to participate in an online survey (July-Sept 2019). Ethical approval was obtained from University of Worcester. Descriptive statistical analysis of quantitative and thematic analysis of qualitative data was undertaken, \ud Results: 33 HCPs participated. 65.6% (n=21) had worked in the speciality over 10 years. Calls were mainly taken on the wards (78.1%, n=25). 90% (n=28) took up to 5 calls per shift. The most common reason for the calls were: Concern about child's cardiac condition or deterioration (n=30); medication (n=26); wound care (n=20); general illness (n=14). Challenges of taking calls included: not being able to see the child and difficulty giving advice; dealing with actions arising from call alongside busy workload; parents running out of medications and calling out of hours. Positives included: signposting and preventing further deterioration; getting expert advice quickly and reassuring parents.\ud Conclusion: Taking calls can be time consuming alongside the daily workload and challenges arise when HCPs are unable to see the child or parents run out of medication out of hours. The Congenital Heart Assessment Tool1 should be reinstated, alongside greater parental preparation for safe medicines management at home. \ud \ud 1. Introduction\ud The aim of this session is to present an online learning resource developed within a portfolio of research around the Congenital Heart Assessment Tool (CHAT). The CHAT, an early warning tool for parents to use at home to monitor their infant following the first stage of surgery for complex Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), was developed in 2012 and implemented within a feasibility Study (phase one) at one specialist centre during 2013-2015 (Gaskin, Daniels & Barron 2016; Gaskin Wray & Barron, 2018). Phase two of the project was to evaluate the CHAT in four children’s cardiac centres in the UK as part of a Health Improvement Project during 2017 (Smith et al, 2018), resulting in an updated version of the tool (CHAT2). \ud Methods\ud This third phase of the project involved development of an online learning resource, which was funded by the University and created in collaboration with Little Hearts Matter, a UK CHD Charity. The aim being to enable wider implementation of CHAT across the UK, through consistent education of health care professionals who are involved in the preparation of parents and families for their infant’s discharge. \ud The learning objectives of the online learning resource are for health care professionals to have:\ud • Enhanced knowledge and understanding of complex CHD in order to teach parents how to spot signs of clinical deterioration in their infant whilst at home\ud • Developed an understanding of the CHAT, who it is for, what it does, and why it is used\ud • Learnt how to use CHAT when teaching parents prior to discharge\ud • Learnt how to use CHAT to support decision making when taking telephone calls from families at home \ud \ud The online learning resource recognises different learning styles and incorporates a range of self directed activities, video clips demonstrating how to use CHAT and links to a breadth of supporting resources. The resource is currently being piloted and a staged implementation and evaluation strategy is being planned for 2019. \ud Results\ud This session will provide an update on the progress of the implementation of this e-learning resource, which could subsequently be made available internationally.

We would like to deliver a workshop to present a new free online learning resource, which has been developed to equip health care professionals (HCP) with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to teach parents about going home from hospital. \ud \ud The online learning resource teaches HCPs a standardised approach using the Congenital Heart Assessment Tool (CHAT2) to ensure that parents are capable of recognising signs of deterioration to look out for, when they take their infant home for the first time following complex cardiac surgery. In addition, the training ensures that HCPs provide parents with information about when and who to call for management advice and support.\ud \ud By the end of the e-learning HCPs will have:\ud • Enhanced knowledge and understanding of complex CHD in order to teach parents how to spot signs of clinical deterioration in their infant whilst at home\ud • Developed an understanding of the CHAT2, who it is for, what it does, and why it is used\ud • Learnt how to use CHAT2 when teaching parents prior to discharge\ud • Learnt how to use CHAT2 to support decision making when taking telephone calls from families at home \ud • Enhanced recording skills by using CHAT2\ud \ud Delegates will be able to register for this free learning resource after the workshop
