The current study aimed to assess the influence of rootstocks (‘IAC 572’ and ‘IAC 766’) and potassium fertilization with different sources (KCl and K2SO4) and concentrations (0, 75, 150 and 300 kg ha-1 K2O) regarding to yield performance and grape quality of ‘Niagara Rosada’, as well as the variation of K availability in soil. Thus, yield components; physical characteristics of bunches and berries; chemical composition, bioactive compounds, and antioxidant activity of grape berry; leaf K content; and variation of K availability in soil were evaluated in two consecutive seasons (2017 and 2018). Results showed no influence of rootstocks on yield performance of ‘Niagara Rosada’; however, grapevines grafted on to ‘IAC 766’ produced berries with higher concentration of total flavonoids and anthocyanins. Furthermore, KCl provided higher concentration of total flavonoids and anthocyanins compared to K2SO4. In general, potassium sources had similar effects on the variation of K availability in soil. Results indicated that there was small effect between K doses with regards to production and qualitative parameters. We therefore estimated a fertilization rate of 150 kg ha-1 K2O to maintain K concentration in soil after each production cycle

The length of the main phenological stages was recorded within two production seasons. Total thermal demand was calculated using the degree-day concept. The berries' titratable acidity and soluble solids contents were determined during maturation. Results indicated that IAC 572 and IAC 766 rootstocks along with potassium fertilization had no influence on the phenological cycle or thermal demand of the Niagara Rosada grapevine. The production cycle lasted 144 to 148 days with thermal demands ranging from 1,465.2 to 1,615.1 degree-days. For better grape quality, i.e., with a balance between soluble solids and acidity levels, it is estimated that the grape harvest is carried out around 21 to 24 days after the veraison. The objective of this work was to evaluate the productive performance and physicochemical characteristics of the Isabel Precoce, BRS Carmem, BRS Cora, and IAC 138-22 Máximo grape (Vitis labrusca) cultivars for juice grafted onto the 'IAC 572 Jales' and 'IAC 766 Campinas' rootstocks. A randomized complete block design, in a 4×2 factorial arrangement, was used. Productive performance was evaluated through: production per plant; yield; number of clusters per vine; and physical characteristics of clusters, berries, and rachis. The physicochemical characteristics of must composition were also determined through the content of soluble solids, reducing sugars, titratable acidity, maturity index, and pH. Since there was no significant interaction between cultivars and rootstocks for most of the evaluated characteristics, each factor was analyzed separately. The 'IAC 766 Campinas' rootstock provided a higher yield and more suitable physicochemical characteristics for the four cultivars. However, regardless of the rootstock used, cultivars BRS Carmem, IAC 138-22 Máximo, and Isabel Precoce were more productive than BRS Cora. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho produtivo e as características físico-químicas das cultivares de uva (Vitis labrusca) para suco Isabel Precoce, BRS Carmem, BRS Cora e IAC 138-22 Máximo, enxertadas sobre os porta-enxertos 'IAC 572 Jales' e 'IAC 766 Campinas'. Utilizou-se o delineamento em blocos ao acaso, em arranjo fatorial 4×2. O desempenho produtivo foi avaliado por meio de: produção por planta; produtividade; número de cachos por videira; e características físicas de cachos, bagas e engaços. Também foram determinadas as características físico-químicas da composição do mosto por meio do teor de sólidos solúveis, açúcares redutores, acidez titulável, índice de maturidade e pH. Como não houve interação significativa entre as cultivares e os porta-enxertos para a maioria das características avaliadas, cada fator foi analisado separadamente. O porta-enxerto 'IAC 766 Campinas' proporcionou maior produtividade e características físico-químicas mais adequadas às quatro cultivares. No entanto, independentemente do porta-enxerto utilizado, as cultivares BRS Carmem, IAC 138-22 Máximo e Isabel Precoce foram mais produtivas que BRS Cora.

The productive components (number of bunches, production per vine, yield, number of berries per bunch, fresh mass, length, and width of berries) and the grape must physicochemical composition (pH, titratable acidity, soluble solids, and maturation index) were determined after four consecutive harvest seasons. Results from analysis of variance and principal component analysis showed that Cabernet Franc and Syrah were generally more productive than the other ones. In addition to that, Cabernet Sauvignon presented the lowest production and the smallest grape berries of all. With regards to rootstocks, IAC 766 induced higher scions yield than 106-8 Mgt; besides that, IAC 766 had greater affinity with Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which was observed by the increase in the number of bunches per vine, larger and heavier bunches, as well as higher soluble solids content and pH value than the ones in 106-8 Mgt. Furthermore, IAC 766 also induced higher soluble solids content and pH value for Cabernet Sauvignon. Results showed similar effects for Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc, regardless of the rootstocks. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the best combination of rootstock and training system for 'Sauvignon Blanc', in Jundiai, state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. To assess the data, a randomized block design in a 2 x 2 factorial scheme was used, that is, two rootstocks ('IAC 766 Campinas' and '106-8 Mgt') and two training systems (low and high espaliers), with four replications. The characteristics assessed were production, physicochemical analysis and concentration of bioactive compounds. With regard to the physicochemical composition of the grape must, the results indicated that the tested combinations are within the standard requirements for the winemaking industry; outcomes may change according to the rootstock used, i.e., an increase in production or an increase in the nutritional quality of the fruits. Nevertheless, '106-8 Mgt' rootstock showed great yield in both training systems, that is, an increase of up to 80%. Finally, 'Sauvignon Blanc' must be grafted on to 'IAC 766 Campinas' rootstock through a low espalier system to achieve a high content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids, and high antioxidant activity. Tradicionais produtoras de uvas finas para mesa, as regiões de Pilar do Sul e São Miguel Arcanjo requerem estudos relacionados à evolução da maturação a fim de garantir a colheita de frutos que atendam as exigências de mercado. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a maturação da uva ‘Benitaka’ cultivada em clima subtropical. O experimento foi realizado em um vinhedo comercial da uva ‘Benitaka’ enxertada no porta-enxerto 420-A, em sistema de condução do tipo pérgola, no sétimo ano de produção, localizado em Pilar do Sul, SP, Brasil (23º 48’ S, 47º 42’ O e altitude de 689 m), no ciclo produtivo de 2014/15. A partir do início da maturação, aos 114 dias após a poda (DAP), realizou-se amostragem semanal das bagas para a determinação dos teores de sólidos solúveis (SS), pH, acidez titulável (AT), relação SS/AT e açúcares redutores (AR), se estendendo a amostragem de bagas até a colheita (156 DAP). A uva ‘Benitaka’ cultivada em região subtropical apresentou boas características físico-químicas aos 156 dias após a poda, com valores de SS de 15,99 ºBrix, AT de 0,49 % de ácido tartárico, pH 3,73, relação SS/AT de 32,68 e AR de 14,10 %.

The abscisic acid (ABA) is related to the formation of certain polyphenols, such as anthocyanin, improving the nutritional and commercial quality of the red grapes. In this study, we verified whether the exogenous application of S-ABA favors the accumulation of anthocyanin, the total phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activity of the ‘Rubi’ grape. The experiment was performed during the cycle 2014/2015 with the ‘Rubi’ vine (Vitis vinifera L.) grafted in the rootstock 420-A. The experimental design was composed of randomized blocks, with four treatments and six blocks, in a total of 24 experimental parcels, constituted of one plant each. We used the S-ABA isomer in different concentrations and times of application, 400 mg·L-1 S-ABA in the beginning of the ripening (BR); 400 mg·L-1 at BR + 200 mg·L-1 at 25 days after first application (DAFA); 400 mg·L-1at BR + 400 mg·L-1 at 25 DAFA; besides the control (0 mg·L-1). After 40 days of the first application, the samples were harvested and we verified that the S-ABA induced the accumulation of anthocyanins and total phenolic compounds in the ‘Rubi’ grape. From these results we can recommend two applications of S-ABA, 400 mg·L-1 at BR + 200 mg·L-1 at 25 DAFA.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2019-10-01 The current study aimed to assess the influence of the 'IAC 766', 'IAC 572', 'IAC 313' and 'IAC 571-6' rootstocks on nutrient uptake of 'Venus' grape vine by pruning branches and harvesting clusters during two consecutive grape growing seasons. The experiment was conducted in Votuporanga, state of Sao Paulo. Treatments consisted of the variety 'Venus' grafted onto four rootstocks during two growing seasons (2013 and 2014). The rootstocks evaluated were 'IAC 766', 'IAC 572', 'IAC 313' and 'IAC 571-6'. We sampled the grape branches at pruning and their clusters at harvest time. The macro and micronutrient contents in both branches and clusters were analyzed. Nutrient uptake and removal were separately estimated in pruned branches and harvested clusters by uptake nutrient sum. Results indicated great nutrient uptake means in 'IAC 572' and 'IAC 766' during both seasons. Moreover, total removal uptake showed the following order K > N > Ca > P > Mg > S > Mn > Fe > Zn > B > Cu in pruned branches and harvested clusters. The yield components (number of bunches and yield per vine, as well as productivity) and the physicochemical characteristics of the bunches and berries of the eight scion-rootstock combinations were evaluated in three seasons. All data were subjected to analysis of variance and principal components analysis. The varieties ‘Isabel Precoce’ ‘BRS Cora’ and IAC 138 22 ‘Máximo’ produced high fruit yield, with the number of bunches and yield per vine similar to one another and superior to those of ‘BRS Carmem’. Significant differences occurred among varieties in the physicochemical grape characteristics. ‘Isabel Precoce’ and ‘BRS Carmem’ grapes had balanced levels of sugar and acid content, and ‘BRS Cora’ presented large bunches and berries, reaching high soluble solids content despite the high acidity. IAC 138-22 ‘Máximo’ grape also had large bunches but small berries and limited potential in the accumulation of sugars. The ‘IAC 766’ rootstock resulted in the best performance across all four varieties evaluated, showing maximum results in terms of fruit yield and physicochemical quality attributes of grapes. Red grapes varieties (‘Isabel’, ‘Bordô’, ‘IAC 138-22 Máximo’ and ‘BRS Violeta’) and white grapes varieties (‘IAC 116-31 Rainha’, ‘IAC 21-14 Madalena’ and ‘BRS Lorena’) were grafted on two rootstocks (‘IAC 766’ and ‘106-8 Mgt’) and therefore assessed during cultivation. The 14 scion-rootstock combinations were analysed during four consecutive harvests (from 2011 to 2014) for yield components (number of bunches, yield per vine, and productivity) and physicochemical traits of bunches and berries (fresh mass, length and width of bunchs, berries and rachis, soluble solids content, pH, titratable acidity and maturity index of grape must). Results showed that ‘IAC 138-22 Máximo’ was the most productive hybrid, but also presented low soluble solids content and high titratable acidity. Regarding to white grapes varieties, ‘BRS Lorena’ performed the highest yield associated with high sugar content in grapes. Rootstocks influenced some grapevine traits, but with variations among the grape varieties. In general, in terms of yield and physicochemical characteristics of the grapes, the cultivars ‘IAC 138-22 Máximo’, ‘BRS Lorena’ and ‘Bordô’ presented better results grafted on ‘IAC 766’. In contrast, ‘Isabel’ and ‘IAC 116-31 Rainha’ were better combined with the ‘106-8 Mgt’. The ‘IAC 766’ and ‘106-8 Mgt’ resulted in similar performances in ‘BRS Violeta’ and ‘IAC 21-14 Madalena’, for that reason, both rootstocks may be recommended for these varieties.
