As a result of Don Heirman's passing in October of 2020, I was offered an opportunity to examine some of his career records located at his home in New Jersey. A request for travel funding was sent to the EMC Society President (Alistair Duffy) and a favorable response was received (after a high-level review and approval from IEEE Headquarters!). Arrangements were made to meet Art Wall and Ed Hare at Don's house on the East Coast. Art is a long-time friend of Don's and is the executor of Don's will and estate. Ed Hare is also a long-time friend of Don's and is presently the Vice-President of Standards for the EMC Society. Once I arrived at Don's domicile, I also met Andrew Rose who was Don's computer consultant and is actively helping Art with his executor responsibilities.

As part of the IEEE EMC Society's 50th Anniversary in 2007, a study was done on the most “popular” papers published in the EMC Society Transactions on EMC. The comparison was generated by manually reviewing the Transactions and recording the number of times a paper was referenced. This study culminated in a listing of the most frequently referenced papers over the first 50 years of the EMC Society.

The Committee on Man and Radiation (COMAR) is a technical committee of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) and has been part of that organization since 1997.

The IEEE EMC Society and the National Electronics Museum (NEM) have had a vested relationship based on a written agreement since 2016. The agreement stated that the Society would loan the museum some forty pieces of EMC test equipment and the NEM agreed to store the pieces in a secure and safe location and to display some of the equipment at the NEM's location in Linthicum, Maryland.

The last issue of the Quasies and Peaks is reprinted in this issue of the magazine. The last issue was a farewell message from the long-time editor, Rexford Daniels.

As you would expect from a Third Edition of a book, this volume is well-written, clearly outlined, and a solid contribution to the library of excellent volumes of EMC Engineering. Early in the book, the author makes it clear that he is addressing specifically "radiated emissions" of electronic products and he will not be sidetracked with ancillary issues off the main topic. The book is approximately 350 pages long; it is divided into 13 chapters with four appendices. It has numerous illustrations, graphs and diagrams. There is sufficient mathematics in the book to clarify key issues relative to radiated fields and the many effects of Maxwell's Equations. I recommend the book for inclusion in an EMC engineer’s library; it has essential material for the beginning engineer, the more experienced engineer, and even an expert EMC engineer.
