Abstract Increasing the molecular weight while maintaining mono-dispersity has been proved crucial in innovating high-performance photovoltaic materials in giant oligomeric acceptors. However, developing efficient giant oligomeric donors to replace the batch-varied polymers remains challenging due to a lack of design principles. Here, by designing two unique isomeric rhodanine-based linkers, we successfully regulate the assembly behaviors of giant dimeric donors (G-Dimer-Ds) and fabricate the first all-giant-oligomer OSCs pairing with giant dimeric acceptor DY. Multiple characterizations demonstrate the small homo-molecular interaction with strong thermal-driven assembly capability in G-Dimer-D2 simultaneously facilitates reducing energetic disorder, improving charge transport and obtaining stable morphology, resulting in a satisfactory efficiency of 15.70% and long-term photostability with an extrapolated T 80 of ca.10,000 hours, and further enhancing thermal-driven assembly promotes efficiency of 16.05%. Our results provide construction approaches on efficient giant donors, and propose a promising type of OSC with completely definite structures, high efficiency and superior stability.

Abstract The wave amplitude is vital for quantifying the impact of electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves on inner magnetospheric dynamics. Previous numerical studies mainly focused on the evolution of total wave energy/amplitude, whose maximum is usually modeled as a function of initial conditions. Recent quasilinear theory analysis shows existence of a second saturation of multi‐band EMIC waves which exhibits a dip of the total amplitude, emphasizing the need for more precise band‐specific models. Through one‐dimensional hybrid simulations, we reproduce the second saturation phenomenon and separately model wave characteristics for H+‐ and He+‐bands waves, including the maximum amplitudes and the time to maximum as a function of the initial maximum growth rate. Moreover, new parameters for the anisotropy‐beta inverse correlation of hot protons are obtained at the second saturation stage. We further present an in situ observation that first demonstrates the existence of the second saturation.

Abstract Endothelial cells (ECs) are widely used as donor cells in tissue engineering, organoid vascularization, and in vitro microvascular model development. ECs are invaluable tools for disease modeling and drug screening in fundamental research. When treating ischemic diseases, EC engraftment facilitates the restoration of damaged blood vessels, enhancing therapeutic outcomes. This article presents a comprehensive overview of the current sources of ECs, which encompass stem/progenitor cells, primary ECs, cell lineage conversion, and ECs derived from other cellular sources, provides insights into their characteristics, potential applications, discusses challenges, and explores strategies to mitigate these issues. The primary aim is to serve as a reference for selecting suitable EC sources for preclinical research and promote the translation of basic research into clinical applications. Graphical abstract

Abstract Background This study reviews the research status of Diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) payment system in China and globally by analyzing topical issues in this field and exploring the evolutionary trends of DRGs in different developmental stages. Methods Abstracts of relevant literature in the field of DRGs were extracted from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database and the Web of Science (WoS) core database and used as text data. A probabilistic distribution-based Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic model was applied to mine the text topics. Topical issues were determined by topic intensity, and the cosine similarity of the topics in adjacent stages was calculated to analyze the topic evolution trend. Results A total of 6,758 English articles and 3,321 Chinese articles were included. Foreign research on DRGs focuses on grouping optimization, implementation effects, and influencing factors, whereas research topics in China focus on grouping and payment mechanism establishment, medical cost change evaluation, medical quality control, and performance management reform exploration. Conclusions Currently, the field of DRGs in China is developing rapidly and attracting deepening research. However, the implementation depth of research in China remains insufficient compared with the in-depth research conducted abroad.

Peritoneal dissemination frequently develops in patients with ovarian cancer (OC) and is associated with recurrence and metastasis. However, the cellular components and mechanisms supporting OC peritoneal metastasis are poorly understood. To elucidate these, we utilized RNA sequencing to investigate the cellular composition and function. Insights from transcriptome analyses suggested that OC cells from malignant ascites persisted in a quiescent state of low metabolic activity and after metastases to the peritoneum, arrested OC cells were reactivated and induced back to the cell cycle, suggesting that the peritoneum served as a favor tumor microenvironment. To elucidate the mechanisms, we then developed long-range migration and competitive inhibition assays and showed that peritoneal adipose-derived stem cells-derived extracellular vesicles (ADSCs-EVs) mediated preferential migration of OC cells toward peritoneal ADSCs but not other representative cells from the peritoneal cavity. In line with phenotypic changes, transcriptomic analysis revealed that patient peritoneal ADSCs-EVs stimulated the expression of numerous genes associated with OC cell proliferation and migration; among them, the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathways were highly enriched. We also found that peritoneal ADSCs produced and secreted key EGFR signaling molecules, including EGF and EGFR, into ADSCs-EVs. Upon fusion with OC cells, ADSCs-EVs up-regulated the EGFR-NF-κB axis and promoted OC cell proliferation and migration. Interference with either ADSCs-EVs production or EGFR signaling abolished the proliferation and migration effect. The results show that ADSCs modulate OC cell proliferation and migration at multiple layers, constituting a key mechanism in OC progression.

In recent years, ultrasound has emerged as a widely used technology for modifying proteins/peptides. In this study, we focused on the intrinsic mechanism of ultrasound-induced modification of bovine liver peptides, which were treated with ultrasound power of 0, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 W, and their physicochemical and functional properties, as well as ultrastructures, were investigated. The results show that ultrasound mainly affects hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions to change the conformation of proteins and unfolds proteins through a cavitation effect, leading to an increase in biological activity. Fourier infrared spectroscopy showed that ultrasound inhibited the formation of hydrogen bonds and reduced intermolecular cross-linking. Molecular weight distribution showed that the antioxidant components of bovine liver polypeptides were mainly concentrated in fractions of 500–1,000 Da. Maximum values of ABTS (82.66 %), DPPH (76.02 %), chelated iron (62.18 %), and reducing power (1.2447) were obtained by treating bovine liver polypeptides with 500 W ultrasound. Combined with the scanning electron microscopy results, with the intervention of ultrasound, the impact force generated by ultrasonication may lead to the loosening of the protein structure, which further promotes the release of antioxidant peptides, and these findings provide new insights into the application of ultrasound in the release of antioxidant peptides from bovine liver.

Abstract Background Colleges and universities face an increased risk of public health emergencies. Among them, medical colleges and universities deserve more attention as they serve as the play a fundamental role in providing public health emergency services and in cultivating medical professionals. Effectively managing infectious disease prevention and control, as well as responding to public health emergencies in medical colleges and universities, is of great importance for enhancing the capacity of social emergency governance and improving the completeness of the public health system. This study aims to understand the management of public health emergencies in medical colleges in a city in southwest China, explore the factors associated with medical college students’ evaluations, and provide recommendations for emergency management mechanisms in colleges and universities. Methods In total, 781 medical college students were selected through stratified random sampling and surveyed using a questionnaire. The main factors affecting students’ evaluation of emergency management were analyzed using multiple linear regression and structural equation modeling. Results The overall emergency management situation in medical colleges was relatively complete, with satisfactory results. Medical college students’ satisfaction with the timeliness of prevention measures was the highest, while the publicity and education were the lowest. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that grades, emergency education, -simulation training, -information reporting, and dynamic adjustment measures were associated with the evaluation of emergency management by medical students. Conclusions Although the evaluation of emergency management in medical colleges was generally positive, certain limitations still existed. To improve the development of the public health system, colleges and universities should constantly reform and innovate emergency management mechanisms according to the important links in the prevention and control processes.

Lung cancer is the most common and fatal malignant disease worldwide and has the highest mortality rate among tumor-related causes of death. Early diagnosis and precision medicine can significantly improve the survival rate and prognosis of lung cancer patients. At present, the clinical diagnosis of lung cancer is challenging due to a lack of effective non-invasive detection methods and biomarkers, and treatment is primarily hindered by drug resistance and high tumor heterogeneity. Liquid biopsy is a method for detecting circulating biomarkers in the blood and other body fluids containing genetic information from primary tumor tissues. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) is a potential liquid biopsy medium that is rich in a variety of bioactive substances and cell components. BALF contains information on the key characteristics of tumors, including the tumor subtype, gene mutation type, and tumor environment, thus BALF may be used as a diagnostic supplement to lung biopsy. In this review, the current research on BALF in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of lung cancer is summarized. The advantages and disadvantages of different components of BALF, including cells, cell-free DNA, extracellular vesicles, and microRNA are introduced. In particular, the great potential of extracellular vesicles in precision diagnosis and detection of drug-resistant for lung cancer is highlighted. In addition, the performance of liquid biopsies with different body fluid sources in lung cancer detection are compared to facilitate more selective studies involving BALF, thereby promoting the application of BALF for precision medicine in lung cancer patients in the future.

Abstract In recent years, it has been found that magnetic dip caused by diamagnetic motion of injected plasma can provide an appropriate environment for excitation of electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves. These findings have been widely reported in the Earth's magnetic environment. However, it has rarely been reported in Jupiter's magnetic environment. This paper reports the characteristics of EMIC waves observed by Juno in the magnetic dip of Jupiter. Multiple‐band EMIC waves are observed in frequency range from 10−3 Hz to several Hz. The theoretical analysis shows that in this event both He+ band and O+ band EMIC waves can be constrained in the magnetic dip, which is consistent with the wave emissions observed inside the magnetic dip. Our result provides the first evidence that EMIC wave can be ducted inside a magnetic dip in Jupiter's magnetosphere.

Abstract Background Brucellosis poses a significant public health concern. This study explores the spatial and temporal dynamic evolution of human brucellosis in China and analyses the spatial heterogeneity of the influencing factors related to the incidence of human brucellosis at the provincial level. Methods The Join-point model, centre of gravity migration model and spatial autocorrelation analysis were employed to evaluate potential changes in the spatial and temporal distribution of human brucellosis in mainland China from 2005 to 2021. Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR), and Multi-scale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) models were constructed to analyze the spatial and temporal correlation between the incidence rate of human brucellosis and meteorological and social factors. Results From 2005 to 2021, human brucellosis in China showed a consistent upward trend. The incidence rate rose more rapidly in South, Central, and Southwest China, leading to a shift in the center of gravity from the North to the Southwest, as illustrated in the migration trajectory diagram. Strong spatial aggregation was observed. The MGWR model outperformed others. Spatio-temporal plots indicated that lower mean annual temperatures and increased beef, mutton, and milk production significantly correlated with higher brucellosis incidence. Cities like Guangxi and Guangdong were more affected by low temperatures, while Xinjiang and Tibet were influenced more by beef and milk production. Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang were more affected by mutton production. Importantly, an increase in regional GDP and health expenditure exerted a notable protective effect against human brucellosis incidence. Conclusions Human brucellosis remains a pervasive challenge. Meteorological and social factors significantly influence its incidence in a spatiotemporally specific manner. Tailored prevention strategies should be region-specific, providing valuable insights for effective brucellosis control measures.

BackgroundThe association between benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and various mental disorders is still controversial. This study used the Mendelian randomization (MR) method to clarify the correlation between BPPV and seven mental disorders (bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, suicidality, neuroticism, and mood swings) to aid in the exploration of BPPV complications and prevention and early treatment of mental disorders.MethodsThe datasets for BPPV and seven mental disorders were obtained from genome-wide association studies (GWASs). Two-sample MR was used to analyze the correlation between exposure (BPPV) and various outcomes (bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, suicidality, neuroticism, and mood swings). A reverse MR study was also performed. The inverse variance weighting (IVW) method, the MR–Egger method, the simple mode method, the weighted mode method, and the weighted median method were selected.ResultsThe MR analysis and the reverse MR analysis results did not reveal significant associations between BPPV and bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, suicidal tendencies, neuroticism, and mood swings. Interestingly, neuroticism (IVW: OR = 1.142, 95% CI: 1.059–1.231, P = 0.001; P-MR-PRESSO adjustment = 0.0002) and mood swings (IVW: OR = 3.119, 95% CI: 1.652–5.884, P = 0.0004) may have a significant association with BPPV. After MR-PRESSO adjustment, there was no horizontal pleiotropy or heterogeneity, and a significant association between neuroticism, mood swings, and BPPV has still been suggested.ConclusionWe conducted MR analysis on genetic data from European populations and discovered a causal relationship between BPPV and the seven mental disorders. Our research findings suggest that BPPV may not have a significant causal relationship with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, or suicidal tendencies. However, neuroticism and mood swings may be risk factors for BPPV.

Abstract Two‐dimensional (2‐D) hybrid model is developed to investigate the second harmonic (SH) generation of electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves. Applying the singular value decomposition method to simulated fields, we show that the SH exhibits wave properties analogous to typical EMIC waves generated by ion cyclotron instabilities, that is, left‐hand polarization and small wave normal angle. However, the bicoherence index inferred from simulated fields reflects a strong phase coupling between the fundamental wave (FW) and the SH, illustrating the nonlinear generation of the SH by the FW. The necessary conditions, especially for the wave vector relation, are further verified from a 2‐D perspective. The simulated amplitude ratios well meet the theoretical results only in the SH saturation stage, while the necessary conditions remain satisfied almost throughout the simulation. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the SH excitation in a 2‐D simulation domain, contributing to a deeper understanding of EMIC wave nonlinear generation.

BackgroundHuman adipose tissue-derived stem cells (hADSCs) exert potent immunosuppressive effects in the allogeneic transplantation treatment. In mouse model of allergic rhinitis (AR), ADSCs partially ameliorated AR. However, no study has evaluated the potential therapeutic effects of hADSC-derived extracellular vesicles (hADSC-EVs) on AR.MethodsFemale BALB/c mice were sensitized and challenged with ovalbumin (OVA) to induce AR. One day after the last nasal drop, each group received phosphate buffered saline (PBS) or hADSC-EVs treatment. Associated symptoms and biological changes were then assessed.ResultshADSC-EV treatment significantly alleviated nasal symptoms, and reduced inflammatory infiltration. Serum levels of OVA-specific IgE, interleukin (IL)-4 and interferon (IFN)-γ were all significantly reduced. The mRNA levels of IL-4 and IFN-γ in the spleen also changed accordingly. The T helper (Th)1/Th2 cell ratio increased. The treatment efficacy index of hADSC-EV was higher than that of all human-derived MSCs in published reports on MSC treatment of AR. ADSC-EVs exhibited a greater therapeutic index in most measures when compared to our previous treatment involving ADSCs.ConclusionThese results demonstrated that hADSC-EVs could ameliorate the symptoms of AR by modulating cytokine secretion and Th1/Th2 cell balance. hADSC-EVs could potentially be a viable therapeutic strategy for AR. Further animal studies are needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and to optimize potential clinical protocols.

Scattering by the upper- and lower-band chorus waves are the dominant cause of diffuse auroral precipitation. Here, the authors show that the lower-band chorus alone satisfies the preferred condition for the generation of second harmonics to trigger the diffuse auroral electron precipitation.

Abstract Background Insect females undergo a huge transition in energy homeostasis after mating to compensate for nutrient investment during reproduction. To manage with this shift in metabolism, mated females experience extensive morphological, behavioral and physiological changes, including increased food intake and altered digestive processes. However, the mechanisms by which the digestive system responds to mating in females remain barely characterized. Here we performed transcriptomic analysis of the main digestive organ, the midgut, to investigate how gene expression varies with female mating status in Drosophila suzukii, a destructive and invasive soft fruit pest. Results We sequenced 15,275 unique genes with an average length of 1,467 bp. In total, 652 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected between virgin and mated D. suzukii female midgut libraries. The DEGs were functionally annotated utilizing the GO and KEGG pathway annotation methods. Our results showed that the major GO terms associated with the DEGs from the virgin versus mated female midgut were largely appointed to the metabolic process, response to stimulus and immune system process. We obtained a mass of protein and lipid metabolism genes which were up-regulated and carbohydrate metabolism and immune-related genes which were down-regulated at different time points after mating in female midgut by qRT-PCR. These changes in metabolism and immunity may help supply the female with the nutrients and energy required to sustain egg production. Conclusion Our study characterizes the transcriptional mechanisms driven by mating in the D. suzukii female midgut. Identification and characterization of the DEGs between virgin and mated females midgut will not only be crucial to better understand molecular research related to intestine plasticity during reproduction, but may also provide abundant target genes for the development of effective and ecofriendly pest control strategies against this economically important species.

Abstract Simultaneous observations of whistler‐mode chorus and magnetosonic (MS) waves are reported within a magnetic peak in the inner magnetosphere for the first time. During the magnetic peak, Van Allen Probe A observes flux enhancements of both ring current electrons and relativistic electrons, while medium‐energy proton fluxes are reduced but high‐energy proton fluxes are raised. Those flux variations of ring current particles are almost concentrated in the perpendicular direction of the background magnetic field, leading to enhancements of the electron temperature anisotropy and a positive gradient of proton velocity distributions. The calculated linear growth rates show that unstable electrons with temperature anisotropic instabilities and unstable protons with ring distribution during the magnetic peak structure can provide free energy for the excitation of whistler‐mode chorus and MS waves, respectively. Our findings suggest that injected particles encountering the magnetic peak structure may form more complex unstable electron and ion distributions driving multiple instabilities simultaneously.

BackgroundCoarctation of the aorta (CoA) is a common congenital cardiovascular malformation, and improvements in the diagnostic process for surgical decision-making are important. We sought to compare the diagnostic accuracy of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) with computed tomographic angiography (CTA) to diagnose CoA.MethodsWe retrospectively reviewed 197 cases of CoA diagnosed by TTE and CTA and confirmed at surgery from July 2009 to August 2019.ResultsThe surgical findings confirmed that 19 patients (9.6%) had isolated CoA and 178 (90.4%) had CoA combined with other congenital cardiovascular malformations. The diagnostic accuracy of CoA by CTA was significantly higher than that of TTE (χ2 = 6.52, p = 0.01). In contrast, the diagnostic accuracy of TTE for associated cardiovascular malformations of CoA was significantly higher than that of CTA (χ2 = 15.36, p

Non-Orthogonal Multiplex Access (NOMA) can be deployed in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) networks to improve spectrum efficiency. Due to the broadcasting feature of NOMA-UAV networks, it is essential to focus on the security of the wireless system. This paper focuses on maximizing the secrecy sum rate under the constraint of the achievable rate of the legitimate channels. To tackle the non-convexity optimization problem, a reinforcement learning-based alternative optimization algorithm is proposed. Firstly, with the help of successive convex approximations, the optimal power allocation scheme with a given UAV trajectory is obtained by using convex optimization tools. Afterwards, through plenty of explorations of the wireless environment, the Q-learning networks approach the optimal location transition strategy of the UAV, even without the wireless channel state information.

Kinetic Alfvén waves (KAWs), with a strong parallel disturbed electric field, play an important role in energy transport and particle acceleration in the magnetotail. On the basis of high-resolution observations of the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) Mission, we present a detailed description of the acceleration process of electrons by KAWs in the plasma sheet boundary layer (PSBL). The MMS observed strong electromagnetic disturbances carrying a parallel disturbed electric field with an amplitude of up to 8 mV/m. The measured ratio of the electric to magnetic field perturbations was larger than the local Alfvén speed and was enhanced as the frequency increased, consistent with the theoretical predictions for KAWs. This evidence indicates that the electromagnetic disturbances should be identified as KAWs. During the KAWs, the energy flux of electrons at energies above 1 keV in the parallel and anti-parallel directions are significantly enhanced, implying occurrences of electron beams at higher energies. Additionally, the KAWs became more electrostatic-like and filled with high-frequency ion acoustic waves. The energy enhancement of electron beams is in accordance with the derived work done with the observed parallel disturbed electric field of KAWs, indicating electron acceleration caused by KAWs. Therefore, these results provide direct evidence of electron acceleration by KAWs embodying electrostatic ion acoustic waves in the PSBL.

Pulmonary cryptococcosis is an opportunistic infection of cryptococcus both in immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients, who suffered from HIV infection, organ transplantation, diabetes mellitus, corticosteroid or immunosuppressive therapy, and malignancy. Pulmonary cryptococcosis is the commonest location of non-central nervous system cryptococcosis and usually presents with nonspecific symptoms. It often shows shadows on the lung, which makes it difficult to distinguish it from lung cancer. Here we report a case of a 52-year-old man with pulmonary cryptococcosis, who was misdiagnosed as lung cancer. Clinicians need to consider the possibility of pulmonary cryptococcosis and the importance of lung biopsy when treating a patient with a normal immune function that has isolated pulmonary nodules. This case also indirectly illustrates the importance of percutaneous lung biopsy in patients with isolated pulmonary nodules.

Background: Recent studies have identified that transglutaminases (TGMs) are involved in a widespread epigenetic modification in tumorigenesis. However, it remains unclear how transglutaminase 3 (TGM3) affects in pan-cancer. The present study aimed to explore the clinical and prognostic function of TGM3 in pan-cancer as well as to explore the relationship of TGM3 expression with clinical stage, survival rate, prognosis condition, immune infiltration and mutation indicators.Methods: The relevant data of tumors were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), TARGET, Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE) and Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) databases. According to the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) and TIMER databases, we evaluated the protein expression levels of TGM3 in different organs and tissues as well as their association with immune cell infiltration and immunotherapeutic response in pan-cancers. Expression differences between normal and tumor tissues as well as survival and prognosis situation, clinical data characteristics, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), and RNA methylation were also assessed. Oncogenic analyses were also evaluated by GSEA.Results: Compared to normal tissues, some tumor tissues had a lower expression level of TGM3, while other tumor tissues had a high expression level of TGM3. Further studies showed that high TGM3 expression had a certain risk impact on pan-cancer as high TGM3 expression levels were detrimental to the survival of several cancers, except for pancreatic cancer (PAAD). High expression level of TGM3 was also related to higher clinical stages in most cancers. The expression level of TGM3 was significantly negatively correlated with the expression of immune infiltration-related cells, including B cells, CD8+ T cells, CD4+ T cells, neutrophils, macrophages and dendritic cells (DCs). Furthermore, in most cancer types, TGM3 was inversely correlated with TMB, MSI, and methylation, suggesting that TGM3 expression can be used to assess potential therapeutic response, especially immune-related targeted therapy. GSEA analysis elucidated the biological and molecular function of TGM3 in various cancer types. Taken together, these bioinformatic analyses identified TGM3 as an important biomarker for clinical tumor prognosis and evaluation of treatment efficacy.Conclusion: We comprehensively analyzed the clinical characteristics, tumor stages, immune infiltration, methylation level, gene mutation, functional enrichment analysis and immunotherapeutic value of TGM3 in pan-cancer, providing implications for the function of TGM3 and its role in clinical treatment.

In modern enterprises with a separation of powers, the ultimate controller can effectively influence the implementation of corporate strategy and operational management efficiency, as well as improve corporate governance by monitoring and limiting the management entrenchment effect within enterprises. Based on the information pertaining to ultimate controllers disclosed by enterprises in their annual reports, this study empirically tested whether the absence of the ultimate controller impacts investment efficiency using the data of Chinese A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2020. It was found that the investment efficiency of enterprises without ultimate controllers is relatively lower than those with ultimate controllers. This is reflected in the insufficient investment of enterprises without an ultimate controller. Moreover, the effect is more significant when the financial environment, internal governance environment, and external governance environment of firms are worse. The mechanism analysis demonstrated that the absence of an ultimate controller causes a more severe insider agency problem and a significantly higher degree of financing constraints, which leads to underinvestment and reduces investment efficiency of firms. The economic consequence test also found that the inefficient investment caused by the absence of ultimate controllers would damage the future value of enterprises, but would increase managers' compensation. Overall, this study suggests that ultimate controllers are an important part of a firm's internal governance, especially for monitoring management behavior and resolving agency conflicts.

In this study, based on the evaluation of fishy value and sensory evaluation, this study determined that soaking in a 1% salt solution for 60 min had a significant impact on the deodorization of beef liver (p < 0.05). The results showed that salt infiltration promoted the release of fishy substances, improving the edible and processing performance of beef liver. The identification of flavor compounds in raw and roasted beef liver via GC–IMS implies that (E)–2–octenal–M, (E)–3–penten–2–one–M, ethyl acetate–M, ethyl acetate–D, and methanethiol are closely related to improving the flavor of beef liver; among them, (E)–2–octenal–M, (E)–3–penten–2–one–M, and methanethiol can cause beef liver odor, while nonanal–M, octanal–M, benzene acetaldehyde, n–hexanol–D, butyl propanoate–M, heptanal–D, heptanal–M, and 3–methylthiopropanal–M had significant effects on the flavor formation of beef liver steak. The determination of reducing sugars revealed that salt soaking had no significant effect on the reducing sugar content of beef liver, and the beef liver steak was significantly reduced (p < 0.05), proving that reducing sugars promoted the formation of beef liver steak flavor under roasting conditions. Fatty acid determination revealed that salt soaking significantly reduced the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids in beef liver (p < 0.05), promoting the process of fat degradation and volatile flavor production in the beef liver steak. Salt plays a prominent role in salting–out and osmosis during deodorization and flavor improvement. Through controlling important biochemical and enzymatic reactions, the release of flavor substances in a food matrix was increased, and a good deodorization effect was achieved, which lays a foundation for further research on the deodorization of beef liver and the flavor of beef liver steak.

BackgroundThe relationship between retirement and health is important to the formulation of retirement related policies but is a controversial topic, perhaps because selection bias has not been well-addressed in previous studies through traditional analysis methods. Using data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), this study explored the potential impact of retirement on the health of elderly Chinese individuals, adjusting for selection bias.MethodsWe balanced the baseline differences between retirement groups and working groups based on nearest neighbor matching and genetic matching with a generalized boosted model (GBM), and regression analysis was used to evaluate the impact of retirement on the health of elderly individuals.ResultsNo significant difference was found in any of the covariates between the two groups after matching. Genetic matching performed better than nearest neighbor matching in balancing the covariates. Compared to the working group, the retirement group had a 0.78 (95% CI: 0.65–0.94, P = 0.026) times higher probability of self-reported physical pain, a 0.76 (95% CI: 0.62–0.93, P = 0.023) times higher probability of depression, and a 0.57-point (95% CI: 0.37–0.78, P < 0.001) improvement in cognitive status score. Among male, the retirement group had a 0.89-point (95% CI: 0.45–1.33, P < 0.001) improvement in cognitive status score for low education, a 0.65 (95% CI: 0.46–0.92, P = 0.042) times higher probability of self-reported physical pain for middle education. For female with low education, the cognitive status of the retirement group was significantly higher by 0.99 points (95% CI: 0.42–1.55, P = 0.004), the probability of depression was 0.56 (95% CI: 0.36–0.87, P = 0.031) times higher in the retirement group than in the working group. There was no difference for the middle and high education.ConclusionRetirement can exert a beneficial effect on the health of elderly individuals. Therefore, the government and relevant departments should consider this potential effect when instituting policies that delay retirement.

ObjectivesThis study aimed to describe the HIV/AIDS knowledge, sexual attitudes, and sexual behaviors of young students (14–25 years) in Chongqing, China, and to examine their use of preventive services and related factors.MethodA cross-sectional study was conducted with students from 67 schools from December 2019 to June 2021. The chi-square test, non-parametric test to assess the differences between respondents with different characteristics in the above aspects. Additionally, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine factors associated with the awareness of HIV/AIDS knowledge. Confidence intervals without crossover or P < 0.05 was considered significant.ResultsA total of 31,782 participants were included in the study. A total of 62.62% of the respondents were considered to be aware of basic HIV/AIDS knowledge, including 78.44%, 62.15%, and 52.08% in undergraduate colleges, junior colleges and secondary vocational schools, respectively. In total, 60.96% of males and 29.42% of females accepted premarital sex, 15.49% of males and 6.18% of females reported being sexually experienced, and only 57.18% of the students used condoms every time they had sex. The percentage of condom use among students who were aware of HIV/AIDS knowledge was higher than that among students who were not aware. A total of 85.60% of the students thought they needed HIV/AIDS prevention and control knowledge, and 94.60% thought more health education activities on HIV/AIDS prevention needed to be conducted in schools. Entrance education, lectures or consultation hotlines, WeChat official accounts and other media platforms were rated as the most acceptable HIV/AIDS prevention education methods.ConclusionThese respondents lacked knowledge about HIV/AIDS, and an increasing number of students show an open attitude toward premarital sex and engage in risky sexual behaviors. It is urgent to enhance and widely disseminate comprehensive HIV/AIDS and sexual health education in multiple formats.

With the deployment and commercialization of the fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication networks, the access nodes and data volume of wireless networks are showing massive and explosive growth. In this paper, we firstly review the research progress on the energy-efficient and spectrum-efficient wireless transmission, from the perspectives of both latency and energy consumption. We then provide several solutions to high-efficiency wireless transmission for the 5G wireless networks. Finally, we give some discussions about the future road for the design of energy-efficient and spectrum-efficient wireless transmission, which provides some theoretical reference for the system design of wireless networks and Internet of Things (IoT) networks.

Abstract Background China proposed the Zero Markup Drug Policy (ZMDP), which popularized in tertiary hospitals across the country in 2017, to control drug expenditures’ rapid growth further and reduce the public’s medical burden. This study aims to evaluate the impact of ZMDP on the drug cost of chronic disease outpatients in the tertiary hospital in Chongqing. Methods We collected and described the drug-cost data for outpatients with chronic diseases in a Chongqing’s tertiary hospital from 2015 to 2019. The instantaneous and long-term changes of the outpatient volume and average drug cost after the ZMDP were evaluated using interrupted time series (ITS). We also analyzed the policy’s impact under the stratification of gender, age, and basic medical insurance types. Results A total of 350,848 outpatients were collected from January 2015 to February 2019. After the ZMDP, the outpatient volume for diabetes, hypertension, and coronary heart disease (CHD) all showed a downward trend, with a decrease of 53.04 (P = 0.012), 142.19 (P

With the deployment and commercialization of the fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication network, the access nodes and data volume of wireless network show a massive and blowout growth trend. Taking beyond 5G (B5G) edge intelligent network as the research object, based on the deep integration of storage / computing and communication, this paper focuses on the theory and key technology of system intelligent transmission, so as to effectively support the related applications of B5G edge intelligent network in the future. This paper analyzes the research status of data storage, studies the real field distributed storage computing system, and designs the corresponding flashback shift code and error correction scheme with low storage space overhead.

Abstract A novel “N‐π‐N” type oligomeric acceptor of 2BTP‐2F‐T, constructed by two small non‐fullerene acceptor (NFA) units linked with a thiophene π bridge is reported. The 2BTP‐2F‐T not only combines the advantages of small NFA and polymeric acceptors (PYF‐T‐o) with similar units but also exhibits superior characteristics of high absorption coefficient and high electron moblity(µe)) with less dependence on molecular packing. Using PM6 as the donor, a remarkable efficiency of 18.19% is obtained with an open circuit (Voc) of 0.911 V, short current circuit (Jsc) of 25.50 mA cm−2, and fill factor (FF) of 78.3%, which is much better than that of the corresponding monomer (16.54%) and PYF‐T‐o (15.8%) based devices. The much‐improved efficiency results from two aspects: 1) an enhanced FF due to the largely improved µe and well‐controlled morphology ; 2) a higher value of (Jsc × Voc) due to its higher absorption coefficient and efficient charge generation at a similar low energy loss. Furthermore, the PM6/2BTP‐2F‐T device possesses the longest T80 lifetime to light‐soaking and comparable high thermal stability with PM6/PYF‐T‐o. The results indicate that the “N‐π‐N” type oligomeric acceptor has a great application prospect due to its superior high efficiency and improved stability in organic solar cells.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a potent agonist of angiogenesis that induces proliferation and differentiation of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) after vascular injury. Previous studies have suggested that stromal cell-derived factor 1-alpha (SDF-1α) and VEGF have a synergistic effect on vascular stenosis. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether VEGF and SDF-1α act synergistically in EPCs and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). In this study, EPCs were isolated from rat bone marrow and their morphology and function were studied. Subsequently, VEGF was delivered into EPCs using an adenoviral vector. Tube formation, migration, proliferation, and apoptosis of VEGF-overexpressing EPCs was analyzed. Then, EPCs were co-cultured with VSMCs in the presence or absence of SDF-1α, the migration, proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation capacity of EPCs and VSMCs were analyzed respectively. The isolated EPCs showed typical morphological features, phagocytic capacity, and expressed surface proteins. While stable expression of VEGF remarkably enhanced tube formation, migration, and proliferation capacity of EPCs, apoptosis was decreased. Moreover, the proliferation, migration, and differentiation capacity of EPCs in the co-cultured model was enhanced in the presence of SDF-1α, and apoptosis was decreased. However, these effects were reversed in VSMCs. Therefore, our results showed that VEGF and SDF-1α synergistically increased the migration, differentiation, and proliferation capabilities of EPCs, but not VSMCs. This study suggests a promising strategy to prevent vascular stenosis.

Abstract Nonlinear theory has predicted that wave‐wave coupling from different band electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves can occur in multiple‐ion plasmas. However, no direct observational evidence has been reported yet. Here we present multiple substructures on the frequency spectrum of EMIC waves with observations of Van Allen Probes. Some substructures are demonstrated to be excited by nonlinear interactions between preexisting H+ band and He+ band EMIC waves through the bicoherence analysis. Additionally, hybrid simulation displays that a new wave is motivated at sum frequencies after two independent pump waves of different band EMIC waves are injected, implying that the nonlinear wave‐wave interactions could drive EMIC waves with higher wavenumbers. Therefore, this letter provides the first observational evidence of wave‐wave coupling between H+ band and He+ band EMIC waves.

Sequence alignment is a key link of bioinformatics analysis. The basic local alignment search tool (BLAST) is a popular sequence alignment algorithm with high accuracy. However, the BLAST is inefficient in comparing and analyzing a massive amount of gene sequencing data. To solve the problem, this paper designs a distributed parallel BLAST method called SparkBLAST, based on the big data technique Spark. Under the in-memory computing framework Spark, SparkBLAST identifies the task of sequence alignment, divides the sequence dataset, and compares the sequence data. The Apache Hadoop YARN was adopted to task scheduling and resource allocation. Finally, the SparkBLAST was compared with standalone BLAST through experiments. The results show that SparkBLAST realized the speedup ratio of 3.95, without sacrificing the accuracy. In other words, SparkBLAST greatly outshines the standalone BLAST in calculation efficiency. The research findings provide bioinformatics researchers a highly efficient tool for sequence alignment.

Rational: Cholesterol sulfate (CS) is the most abundant known sterol sulfate in human plasma, and it plays a significant role in the control of metabolism and inflammatory response, which contribute to the pathogenesis of insulin resistance, β-cell dysfunction and the resultant development of diabetes. However, the role of CS in β-cells and its effect on the development of diabetes remain unknown. Here, we determined the physiological function of CS in pancreatic β-cell homeostasis.Materials and Methods: Blood CS levels in streptozotocin (STZ)- or high-fat diet-induced diabetic mice and patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes were determined by LC-MS/MS. The impact of CS on β-cell mass and insulin secretion was investigated in vitro in isolated mouse islets and the β-cell line INS-1 and in vivo in STZ-induced diabetic mice. The molecular mechanism of CS was explored by viability assay, EdU incorporation analysis, flow cytometry, intracellular Ca2+ influx analysis, mitochondrial membrane potential and cellular ROS assays, and metabolism assay kits.Results: Plasma CS levels in mice and humans were significantly elevated under diabetic conditions. CS attenuated diabetes in a low-dose STZ-induced mouse model. Mechanistically, CS promoted β-cell proliferation and protected β-cells against apoptosis under stressful conditions, which in turn preserved β-cell mass. In addition, CS supported glucose transporter-2 (GLUT2) expression and mitochondrial integrity, which then resulted in a less reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and an increase in ATP production, thereby enabling insulin secretion machinery in the islets to function adequately.Conclusion: This study revealed a novel dual role of CS in integrating β-cell survival and cell function, suggesting that CS might offer a physiologic approach to preserve β-cells and protect against the development of diabetes mellitus.

To further study the biological function of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) in the Chinese sturgeon (Acipenser sinensis), we conducted a transcriptome analysis of primary macrophages induced by IFN-γ using Illumina sequencing technology. We obtained 88,879 unigenes, with a total length of 93,919,393 bp, and an average length of 1,057bp. We identified 8,490 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the untreated and IFN-γ-treated macrophages, with 4,599 upregulated and 3,891 downregulated. Gene ontology (GO) analysis showed that 4,044 DEGs were enriched in the biological, cellular components, and molecular function categories. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) identified 278 immunity-related pathways enriched for the DEGs. According to the GO enrichment results, eight key immunity-related genes were screened for verification using qPCR. Results indicate that IFN-γ can activate macrophage Interferon Regulatory Factors (IRFs) and type I interferon (IFN-I), activate RIG-I-like and Toll-like receptor-related pathways, and improve the antiviral ability of macrophages in Chinese sturgeon.

Recently, deep federated learning has attracted much attention from researchers in the fields of wireless communications, where the relaying technique has been shown as a powerful technology to assist the wireless signals and enhance the transmission quality, which is very important to the development of mobile edge computing (MEC) based Internet of Things (IoT) networks. In a relaying-aided MEC-IoT system, it is of vital importance to deeply investigate the system signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the receiver side, as it mainly determines the system performance metrics, such as capacity (or achievable data rate), outage probability, and bit-error-rate (BER). To this end, we first investigate the instantaneous convergence error, by deeply studying the relationship between the instantaneous two-hop relaying channels. We then investigate the statistical convergence error, by performing the statistical expectation with respect to the two-hop relaying channels. We finally present some results to show that the analysis of the convergence error is effective. The work in this paper can provide some theoretical foundation for deep federated learning and computing networks.

Background: Public health workers are essential to responding to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic, but research on anxiety and stress among public health workers during the epidemic is limited. This study aimed to evaluate related factors affecting mental health among public health workers during the epidemic.Methods: Between February 19 and 25, 2020, an online, cross-sectional study was conducted among public health workers in a city in China. Mental health status was assessed using the Chinese versions of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), both with a cutoff score of 5. Work-related variables, workloads and sacrifices, and personal perceptions were also assessed.Results: The prevalence of anxiety and depression were 49.2% and 45.7%, respectively, among public health workers. Three risk factors and one protective factor, namely, overcommitment (OR = 1.10∼1.20, p < 0.001), perceived troubles at work (OR = 1.14∼1.18, p < 0.001), perceived tension (OR = 1.11, p < 0.001) and the capability to persist for more than 1 month at the current work intensity (OR = 0.41∼0.42, p < 0.001) were found to be independently associated with anxiety and depression in the multivariable logistic regression analyses after propensity score matching. But the Bayesian networks analysis found that the last three factors directly affect anxiety and depression.Conclusion: Psychological responses to COVID-19 were dramatic among public health workers during the severe phase of the outbreak. To minimize the impact of the epidemic, working conditions should be improved, and easily accessible psychological support services should be implemented.

This study used gas chromatography–ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods to examine the impact of cooking methods and doneness on volatile aroma compounds and non-volatile substances (fatty acids, nucleotides, and amino acids) in Pingliang red beef. The flavor substances’ topographic fingerprints were established, and 45 compounds were traced to 71 distinct signal peaks. Pingliang red beef’s fruity flavor was enhanced thanks to the increased concentration of hexanal, styrene, and 2-butanone that resulted from instant boiling. The levels of 3-methylbutanal, which contributes to the characteristic caramel–chocolate–cheese aroma, peaked at 90 min of boiling and 40 min of roasting. The FFA content was reduced by 28.34% and 27.42%, respectively, after the beef was roasted for 40 min and instantly boiled for 10 s (p > 0.05). The most distinctive feature after 30 min of boiling was the umami, as the highest levels of glutamate (Glu) (p < 0.05) and the highest equivalent umami concentration (EUC) values were obtained through this cooking method. Additionally, adenosine-5′-monophosphate (AMP) and inosine-5′-monophosphate (IMP) decreased with increasing doneness compared to higher doneness, indicating that lower doneness was favorable in enhancing the umami of the beef. In summary, different cooking methods and doneness levels can affect the flavor and taste of Pingliang red beef, but it is not suitable for high-doneness cooking.

In this paper, we investigate intelligent mobile edge computing networks (MEC) with multiple computational access points (CAPs) for Internet of Things (IoT), where the user with limited computational capability has some tasks to be computed with the help of the CAPs. We use the communication and computational latency to measure the system outage probability. In order to enhance the system performance, two CAP relay selection criteria are proposed, where one is based on the computational capability at the CAPs while the other criterion is based on the instantaneous channel parameters from the user to the CAPs. To further improve the system performance, the offloading ratio is optimized through minimizing the system outage probability, which determines how many parts of tasks to be computed at the CAPs. Numerical and simulation results are finally presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed CAP selection criteria and offloading ratio strategy.

To support the and development and application of the fifth-generation (5G) communication and internet of things (IoT) networks, high data-rate wireless transmission is required. To meet the demand of high data-rate, multiple antennas are equipped at the transmitter and receiver, forming multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. A big challenge of MIMO is the detector design in correlated noise environments, which should achieve a fine performance with moderate computational complexity. To this end, we employ an iterative framework of a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) and a linear detector for MIMO systems over correlated noise environments. In this framework, the linear detector can be zero-forcing (ZF), minimum mean square error (MMSE), ZF with successive interference cancellation (ZF-SIC), or MMSE-SIC, which produces an initial estimate of transmitted signals. The DCNN is used to capture the local correlation among noise, and it can produce a more accurate estimate of transmitted signals. Simulation results are finally provided to show that the proposed detector can outperform the conventional linear detectors substantially through capturing the local correlation characteristics among noise.

In this paper, the link selection algorithm in buffer-aided cooperative networks with multiple co-channel interferers for green internet of things (IoT) is investigated. In the considered system, the relay node selects the better link from the first and the second hop with the help of buffers. We evaluate the effects of the system parameters by deriving the analytical analysis as well as the asymptotic results on the exact expressions of the outage probability. The impacts of system parameters, such as the predefined target rate, the priority-outage tradeoff parameter, the buffer length and the number of interferers are evaluated in different setup scenarios. Considerable performance gains can be obtained compared with the classical decode-and-forward relaying networks. Simulation results are provided to verify the theoretical analysis.

Abstract This paper investigates cache-enabled physical-layer secure communication in a no-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) network with two users, where an intelligent unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is equipped with attack module which can perform as multiple attack modes. We present a power allocation strategy to enhance the transmission security. To this end, we propose an algorithm which can adaptively control the power allocation factor for the source station in NOMA network based on reinforcement learning. The interaction between the source station and UAV is regarded as a dynamic game. In the process of the game, the source station adjusts the power allocation factor appropriately according to the current work mode of the attack module on UAV. To maximize the benefit value, the source station keeps exploring the changing radio environment until the Nash equilibrium (NE) is reached. Moreover, the proof of the NE is given to verify the strategy we proposed is optimal. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of the strategy.

With the development of smart cities, lots of mobile cooperative sensing based nodes have emerged. However, due to the open nature of wireless transmission, attackers in the networks can use some intelligent radio devices to deteriorate the secure transmission, which imposes a severe issue of information leakage. In this paper, we consider the transmitter has some computational tasks to be computed, under the environments of intelligent attacker. Due to the limited computational capability, the sender needs to offload some tasks to the receiver. To address this problem, we propose a power allocation algorithm based on combining the technology of reinforcement learning and game theory, in order to achieve an optimal secure data rate and meanwhile reduce the whole task latency of the transmission and computation with Q learning and Nash equilibrium. Then, the Nash equilibrium and its existence conditions are derived and proven mathematically. Finally, we perform some simulations under Matlab platform, and the results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the secrecy data rate and reduce the whole system latency.

In this paper, we investigate mobile edge computing (MEC) networks for intelligent information services, where there are N users equipped with K antennas and one access point (AP). The users have some computational tasks, and some of them can be decoupled by the AP, at the cost of a fee charged by the AP. For the considered system, we firstly consider two important metrics of interest: latency and fee. Then, we formulate a stochastic game to model the interaction between users and the AP. In this game, the AP sets prices to maximize its profit, while users devise the offloading strategy to reduce both the latency and charge. We further optimize the system by applying the array signal processing schemes on the users, in order to reduce the transmission latency. Simulation results are finally presented to verify the effectiveness of the stochastic game, and it is shown that the array signal processing scheme can help reduce the transmission latency significantly.

Abstract This paper investigates a cache-aided mobile edge computing (MEC) network, where the source offloads the computation task to multiple destinations with computation capacity, with the help of a cache-aided relay. For the proposed cache-aided MEC networks, two destination selection criteria have been proposed to maximize the computation capacity of the selected destination, the channel gain of relay link and the channel gain of direct link, respectively. Similarly, three destination selection criteria have been proposed for the cache-free MEC networks based on the computation capacities of destinations and the channel gains of transmission links, respectively. To evaluate the system performance regarding the latency constraint, we provide the outage probability for the proposed network which is defined based on the transmission-plus-computation time. Our analysis suggests that caching can significantly alleviate the impact of increasing the size of computation task, since only half of the transmission time of cache-free network is required. However, the cache-aided network can not fully exploit the signal from both direct and relay links, thus the improvement by caching is less significant in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region, compared with the cache-free network employing the destination with maximal channel gain of direct link. Numerical results are given to validate our analysis.

Increasing number of literatures highlighted lncRNA maternally expressed gene 3 (MEG3) as an emerging target for hypoxic-ischaemic brain damage (HIBD). This study attempted to assess the role of MEG3 in a cell model of HIBD. Expression of MEG3 in PC12 cells was suppressed by siRNA-mediated transfection, after which the cells were subjected to hypoxia. Cell viability, apoptosis, migration and the expression of related proteins were assessed. Furthermore, the downstream gene of MEG3 and its downstream signalling pathways were explored. We found that, down-regulation of MEG3 prevented hypoxic injury in PC12 cells, as hypoxia induced viability loss, apoptosis and migration repression were attenuated by transfection with MEG3 siRNA. Meanwhile, MEG3 acted as a miR-21 sponge. The neuroprotective functions of MEG3 silence were flattened when miR-21 was suppressed. Moreover, the deactivation of PI3K/AKT pathway and the activation of NF-κB pathway induced by hypoxia were attenuated by MEG3 silence. As expected, the effects of MEG3 silence on these two signalling were via miR-21. In conclusion, the neuroprotective effects of MEG3 silence on PC12 cells injured by hypoxia were observed in this study. Mechanistically, the neuroprotective effects of MEG3 silence on PC12 cells were via sponging miR-21 and thus regulating PI3K/AKT and NF-κB pathways.HIGHLIGHTSMEG3 is highly expressed in PC12 cells following hypoxic injury;Silence of MEG3 prevents hypoxia-induced cell damage in PC12 cells;MEG3 acts as a miR-21 sponge;MEG3 sponges miR-21 to regulate PI3K/AKT and NF-κB pathways.

Abstract Background This study aimed to analyse the epidemiological characteristics of bacillary dysentery (BD) caused by Shigella in Chongqing, China, and to establish incidence prediction models based on the correlation between meteorological factors and BD, thus providing a scientific basis for the prevention and control of BD. Methods In this study, descriptive methods were employed to investigate the epidemiological distribution of BD. The Boruta algorithm was used to estimate the correlation between meteorological factors and BD incidence. The genetic algorithm (GA) combined with support vector regression (SVR) was used to establish the prediction models for BD incidence. Results In total, 68,855 cases of BD were included. The incidence declined from 36.312/100,000 to 23.613/100,000, with an obvious seasonal peak from May to October. Males were more predisposed to the infection than females (the ratio was 1.118:1). Children < 5 years old comprised the highest incidence (295.892/100,000) among all age categories, and pre-education children comprised the highest proportion (34,658 cases, 50.335%) among all occupational categories. Eight important meteorological factors, including the highest temperature, average temperature, average air pressure, precipitation and sunshine, were correlated with the monthly incidence of BD. The obtained mean absolute percent error (MAPE), mean squared error (MSE) and squared correlation coefficient (R 2) of GA_SVR_MONTH values were 0.087, 0.101 and 0.922, respectively. Conclusion From 2009 to 2016, BD incidence in Chongqing was still high, especially in the main urban areas and among the male and pre-education children populations. Eight meteorological factors, including temperature, air pressure, precipitation and sunshine, were the most important correlative feature sets of BD incidence. Moreover, BD incidence prediction models based on meteorological factors had better prediction accuracies. The findings in this study could provide a panorama of BD in Chongqing and offer a useful approach for predicting the incidence of infectious disease. Furthermore, this information could be used to improve current interventions and public health planning.

Lithium-ion batteries play an important role in our daily lives. The prediction of the remaining service life of lithium-ion batteries has become an important issue. This article reviews the methods for predicting the remaining service life of lithium-ion batteries from three aspects: machine learning, adaptive filtering, and random processes. The purpose of this study is to review, classify and compare different methods proposed in the literature to predict the remaining service life of lithium-ion batteries. This article first summarizes and classifies various methods for predicting the remaining service life of lithium-ion batteries that have been proposed in recent years. On this basis, by selecting specific criteria to evaluate and compare the accuracy of different models, find the most suitable method. Finally, summarize the development of various methods. According to the research in this article, the average accuracy of machine learning is 32.02% higher than the average of the other two methods, and the prediction cycle is 9.87% shorter than the average of the other two methods.
