Search

M-type stars are the ones that flare most frequently, but how big their maximum flare energy can reach is still unknown. We present 163 flares from 162 individual M2 through L1-type stars that triggered the GWAC, with flare energies ranging from $10^{32.2}$ to $10^{36.4}$ erg . The flare amplitudes range from $\triangle G = 0.84$ to $\sim 10$ mag. Flare energy increases with stellar surface temperature ($T_{\rm eff}$) but both $\triangle G$ and equivalent duration $\log_{10}(ED)$ seem to be independent of $T_{\rm eff}$. Combining periods detected from light curves of TESS and K2, spectra from LAMOST, SDSS and the 2.16 m Telescope, and the Gaia DR3 data, we found that these GWAC flare stars are young. For the stars that have spectra, we found that these stars are in or very near to the saturation region, and $\log_{10}(L_{\rm H\alpha}/L_{\rm bol})$ is lower for M7-L1 stars than for M2-M6 stars. We also studied the relation between GWAC flare bolometric energy $E_{\rm bol}$ and stellar hemispherical area $S$, and found that $\log_{10}E_{\rm bol}$ (in erg) increases with increasing $S$ (in cm$^2$), and the maximum flare energy $\log_{10}E_{\rm bol, max} \geqslant \log_{10}S + 14.25$. The properties of super-Eddington accretion disks exhibit substantial distinctions from the sub- Eddington ones. In this paper, we investigate the accretion process of a magnetized neutron star (NS) surrounded by a super-Eddington disk. By constructing self-similar solutions for the disk structure, we study in detail an interaction between the NS magnetosphere and the inner region of the disk, revealing that this interaction takes place within a thin boundary layer. The magnetosphere truncation radius is found to be approximately proportional to the Alfv\'en radius, with a coefficient ranging between 0.34-0.71, influenced by the advection and twisting of a magnetic field, NS rotation, and radiation emitted from an NS accretion column. Under super-Eddington accretion, the NS can readily spin up to become a rapid rotator. Superluminous supernovae (SLSNe) are a class of intense celestial events that can be standardized for measuring cosmological parameters, bridging the gap between type Ia supernovae and the cosmic microwave background. In this work, we discuss the cosmological applications of SLSNe from the Chinese Space Station Telescope (CSST). Our estimation suggests that SLSNe rate is biased tracing the cosmic star formation rate, exhibiting a factor of $(1+z)^{1.2}$. We futher predict that CSST is poised to observe $\sim 360$ SLSNe in the 10 square degrees ultra-deep field survey within a span of 2.5 years. A stringent constraint on cosmological parameters can be derived from their peak-color relationship. Magnetars are young, highly magnetized neutron stars that are associated with magnetar short bursts (MSBs), magnetar giant flares (MGFs), and at least some fast radio bursts (FRBs). In this work, we consider a magnetar and a main sequence star in a binary system and analyze the properties of the electromagnetic signals generated by the interaction between the magnetar bursts and the companion star. During the preburst period, persistent radiation could be generated by the interaction between the $e^+e^-$-pair wind from the magnetar and the companion or its stellar wind. We find that for a newborn magnetar, the persistent preburst radiation from the strong magnetar wind can be dominant, and it is mainly at the optical and ultraviolet (UV) bands. For relatively old magnetars, the re-emission from a burst interacting with the companion is larger than the persistent preburst radiation and the luminosity of the companion itself. The transient re-emission produced by the heating process has a duration of $0.1 - 10^5 {\rm~s}$ at the optical, UV, and X-ray bands. Additionally, we find that if these phenomena occur in nearby galaxies within a few hundred kiloparsecs, they could be detected by current or future optical telescopes., Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures; Published in A&A

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have long been considered potential sources of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs; with energy $\gtrsim 10^{18} {\rm~eV}$). In this work, we propose a novel model generating MeV emission lines in GRB, which can constrain the properties of heavy nuclei that potentially exist in GRB jets. Specifically, we find that relativistic hydrogen-like high-atomic-number ions originating from the $\beta$ decay of unstable nuclei and/or the recombination entrained in the GRB jet can generate narrow MeV emission lines through the de-excitation of excited-electrons. This model can successfully explain the MeV emission line observed in the most luminous GRB ever recorded, GRB~221009A, with suitable parameters including a Lorentz factor $\gamma \sim 820-1700$ and a total mass of heavy nuclei $M_{\rm tot} \sim 10^{23} - 10^{26}$~g. Especially, the emission line broadening can be reasonably attributed to both the expansion of the jet shell and the thermal motion of nuclei, naturally resulting in a narrow width ($\sigma_{\rm line} / E_{\rm line} \lesssim 0.2$) consistent with the observation. Furthermore, we predict that different GRBs can exhibit lines in different bands with various evolving behaviors, which might be confirmed with further observations. Recently, Beloborodov suggested that there exists a resonance phenomenon between an extremely intense electromagnetic wave and internal magnetized particles. The particles exchange energy with the wave at frequent resonance events and then reach the radiation reaction limit immediately. This process greatly enhances the scattering cross section of the particles. Note that these results only involve an extraordinary (X) mode wave. In this paper, we focus on an intense ordinary (O) mode wave propagating through magnetized particles and compare it with the case of the X-mode wave. Our result shows that the scattering cross section of the particles in the O-mode wave is significantly smaller than that in the X-mode wave. This has important implications for the transparency of a fast radio burst (FRB) inside the magnetosphere of a magnetar. Some fast radio bursts (FRBs) exhibit repetitive behaviors and their origins remain enigmatic. It has been argued that repeating FRBs could be produced by the interaction between a neutron star and an asteroid belt. Here we consider the systems in which an asteroid belt dwells around a massive star, while a neutron star, as a companion of the massive star, interacts with the belt through gravitational force. Various orbital configurations are assumed for the system. Direct N-body simulations are performed to investigate the dynamical evolution of the asteroids belt. It is found that a larger orbital eccentricity of the neutron star will destroy the belt more quickly, with a large number of asteroids being scattered out of the system. A low inclination not only suppresses the collisions but also inhibits the ejection rate at early stages. However, highly inclined systems may undergo strong oscillations, resulting in the Kozai--Lidov instabilities. Among the various configurations, a clear periodicity is observed in the collision events for the case with an orbital eccentricity of 0.7 and mutual inclination of $0^{\circ}$. It is found that such a periodicity can be sustained for at least 8 neutron star orbital periods, supporting this mechanism as a possible explanation for periodically repeating FRBs. The afterglow of a gamma-ray burst (GRB) has been widely argued to arise from the interaction of a relativistic outflow with its ambient medium. During such an interaction, a pair of shocks are generated: a forward shock that propagates into the medium, and a reverse shock that propagates into the outflow. Extensive studies have been conducted on the emission from the forward shock viewed off-axis. Furthermore, the observation of a reverse shock in an on-axis short GRB suggests that the reverse shock can produce an electromagnetic counterpart to a gravitational wave-detected merger. In this paper, we investigate the contribution of the reverse shock to the afterglow from a top-hat jet viewed off-axis, and apply our model to some short GRBs previously modeled by an off-axis emission. We employ the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method to get the model parameters (i.e., the jet's half-opening angle $\theta_j$, the viewing angle $\theta_\text{obs}$, the initial Lorentz factor $\Gamma_0$, and the isotropic energy $E_\mathrm{iso}$). Our model successfully reproduces off-axis afterglow emission without a structured jet. AT2018cow is the most extensively observed and widely studied fast blue optical transient to date; its unique observational properties challenge all existing standard models. In this paper, we model the luminosity evolution of the optical, soft X-ray, and hard X-ray emission, as well as the X-ray spectrum of AT2018cow with a magnetar-centered engine model. We consider a two-zone model with a striped magnetar wind in the interior and an expanding ejecta outside. The soft and hard X-ray emission of AT2018cow can be explained by the leakage of high-energy photons produced by internal gradual magnetic dissipation in the striped magnetar wind, while the luminous thermal UV/optical emission results from the thermalization of the ejecta by the captured photons. The two-component energy spectrum yielded by our model with a quasi-thermal component from the optically thick region of the wind superimposed on an optically thin synchrotron component well reproduces the X-ray spectral shape of AT2018cow. The Markov Chain Monte Carlo fitting results suggest that in order to explain the very short rise time to peak of the thermal optical emission, a low ejecta mass $M_{\rm ej}\approx0.1~M_\odot$ and high ejecta velocity $v_{\rm SN}\approx0.17c$ are required. Very recently, a particularly long gamma-ray burst (GRB) 230307A was reported and proposed to originate from a compact binary merger based on its host galaxy property, kilonova, and heavy elements. More intriguingly, a very early plateau followed by a rapid decline in soft X-ray band was detected in its light curve by the Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy, indicating strong evidence of the existence of a magnetar as the merger product. This work explores that the Magnetar Wind Internal Gradual MAgnetic Dissipation (MIGMAD) model, in which the radiative efficiency evolves over time, successfully fits it to the observed data. Our results reinforce the notion that the X-ray plateau serves as a powerful indicator of a magnetar and imply that an evolving efficiency is likely to be a common feature in X-ray plateaus of GRB afterglows. The field of fast radio bursts (FRBs) has entered the age of fine characterization as observational results from different radio telescopes become more and more abundant. The large FRB sample is suitable for a statistical study. There is an interesting finding that the waiting-time distributions of very active repeating FRBs show a universal double-peaked feature, with left peaks lower than right ones. Assuming these two peaks are independent and initially comparable, we show that the observed asymmetric shape can be ascribed to the propagational effect in the magnetosphere. An FRB passing through the magnetized plasma will induce the circular motion of charged particles to form a current loop. This further leads to an induced magnetic field with opposite direction respect to the background field. As the effective field strength changes, the scattering absorption probability of the following FRB will be influenced. The absorption can be important under certain physical conditions and bursts with smaller time-lags are easier to be absorbed. The disk of an active galactic nucleus (AGN) is widely regarded as a prominent formation channel of binary black hole (BBH) mergers that can be detected through gravitational waves (GWs). Besides, the presence of dense environmental gas offers the potential for an embedded BBH merger to produce electromagnetic (EM) counterparts. In this paper, we investigate EM emission powered by the kicked remnant of a BBH merger occurring within the AGN disk. The remnant BH will launch a jet via accreting magnetized medium as it traverses the disk. The resulting jet will decelerate and dissipate energy into a lateral cocoon during its propagation. We explore three radiation mechanisms of the jet cocoon system: jet breakout emission, disk cocoon cooling emission, and jet cocoon cooling emission, and find that the jet cocoon cooling emission is more likely to be detected in its own frequency bands. We predict a soft X-ray transient, lasting for O($10^3$) s, to serve as an EM counterpart, of which the time delay O(10) days after the GW trigger contributes to follow-up observations. Consequently, BBH mergers in the AGN disk represent a novel multimessenger source. In the future, enhanced precision in measuring and localizing GWs, coupled with diligent searches for such associated EM signal, will effectively validate or restrict the origin of BBH mergers in the AGN disk., Comment: 19 pages, 9 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are extragalactic radio transients with extremely high brightness temperature, which strongly suggests the presence of coherent emission mechanisms. In this study, we introduce a novel radiation mechanism for FRBs involving coherent Cherenkov radiation (ChR) emitted by bunched particles that may originate within the magnetosphere of a magnetar. We assume that some relativistic particles are emitted from the polar cap of a magnetar and move along magnetic field lines through a charge-separated magnetic plasma, emitting coherent ChR along their trajectory. The crucial condition for ChR to occur is that the refractive index of the plasma medium, denoted as $n_r$, must satisfy the condition $n_r^2 > 1$. We conduct comprehensive calculations to determine various characteristics of ChR, including its characteristic frequency, emission power, required parallel electric field, and coherence factor. Notably, our proposed bunched coherent ChR mechanism has the remarkable advantage of generating a narrower-band spectrum. Furthermore, a frequency downward drifting pattern, and $\sim100\%$ linearly polarized emission can be predicted within the framework of this emission mechanism., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, 1 table. Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are millisecond-duration extragalactic radio transients. They apparently fall into repeaters and non-repeaters. However, such a classification has lacked a motivation on the physical picture. Here we propose a unified geometric model to distinguish between the repeaters and non-repeaters, in which the quasi-tangential (QT) propagation effect within the magnetospheric polar cap of a neutron star is considered. In this model, the non-repeaters arise from the sources whose emitting region has a smaller impact angle with respect to the magnetic axis, while the repeaters come from the sources whose emitting region has a larger impact angle. The observational discriminant polarization properties between the repeaters and non-repeaters are an important clue to verifying this unified geometric model since the polarization is sensitive to the QT propagation effect. Recently, some fast radio bursts (FRBs) have been reported to exhibit complex and diverse variations in Faraday rotation measurements (RM) and polarization, suggesting that dynamically evolving magnetization environments may surround them. In this paper, we investigate the Faraday conversion (FC) effect in a binary system involving an FRB source and analyze the polarization evolution of FRBs. For an strongly magnetized high-mass companion binary (HMCB), when an FRB with $\sim100\%$ linear polarization passes through the radial magnetic field of the companion star, the circular polarization (CP) component will be induced and oscillate symmetrically around the point with the CP degree equal to zero, the rate and amplitude of the oscillation decrease as the frequency increases. The very strong plasma column density in the HMCBs can cause CP to oscillate with frequency at a very drastic rate, which may lead to depolarization. Near the superior conjunction of the binary orbit, the DM varies significantly due to the dense plasma near the companion, and the significant FC also occurs in this region. As the pulsar moves away from the superior conjunction, the CP gradually tends towards zero and then returns to its value before incidence. We also investigate the effect of the rotation of the companion star. We find that a sufficiently significant RM reversal can be produced at large magnetic inclinations and the RM variation is very diverse. Kilonovae are a rare class of astrophysical transients powered by the radioactive decay of nuclei heavier than iron, synthesized in the merger of two compact objects. Over the first few days, the kilonova evolution is dominated by a large number of radioactive isotopes contributing to the heating rate. On timescales of weeks to months, its behavior is predicted to differ depending on the ejecta composition and merger remnant. However, late-time observations of known kilonovae are either missing or limited. Here we report observations of a luminous red transient with a quasi-thermal spectrum, following an unusual gamma-ray burst of long duration. We classify this thermal emission as a kilonova and track its evolution up to two months after the burst. At these late times, the recession of the photospheric radius and the rapidly-decaying bolometric luminosity ($L_{\rm bol}\propto t^{-2.7\pm 0.4}$) support the recombination of lanthanide-rich ejecta as they cool., Comment: 47 pages, 14 figures, 9 tables; submitted; a minor typo fixed

Whether binary neutron star mergers are the only astrophysical site of rapid neutron-capture process ($r$-process) nucleosynthesis remains unknown. Collapsars associated with long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and hypernovae are promising candidates. Simulations have shown that outflows from collapsar accretion disks can produce enough $r$-process materials to explain the abundances in the universe. However, there is no observational evidence to confirm this result at present. SN 2020bvc is a broad-lined type Ic (Ic-BL) supernova (SN) possibly associated with a low-luminosity GRB. Based on semi-analytic SN emission models with and without $r$-process materials, we perform a fitting to the multi-band light curves and photospheric velocities of SN 2020bvc. We find that in a $r$-process-enriched model the mixing of $r$-process materials slows down the photospheric recession and therefore matches the velocity evolution better. The fitting results show that $r$-process materials with mass of $\approx0.36~M_\odot$ and opacity of $\approx4~\rm cm^2~g^{-1}$ is needed to mix with about half of the SN ejecta. Our fitting results are weakly dependent on the nebular emission. The environment of gamma-ray burst (GRB) has an important influence on the evolution of jet dynamics and of its afterglow. Here we investigate the afterglow polarizations in a stratified medium with the equal arrival time surface (EATS) effect. Polarizations of multi-band afterglows are predicted. The effects of the parameters of the stratified medium on the afterglow polarizations are also investigated. We found the influences of the EATS effect on the afterglow polarizations become important for off-axis detections and PD bumps move to later times with the EATS effect. Even the magnetic field configurations, jet structure and observational angles are fixed, polarization properties of the jet emission could still evolve. Here, we assume a large-scale ordered magnetic field in the reverse-shock region and a two-dimensional random field in the forward-shock region. Then PD evolution is mainly determined by the evolution of $f_{32}$ parameter (the flux ratio between the reverse-shock region and forward-shock region) at early stage and by the evolution of the bulk Lorentz factor $\gamma$ at late stage. Through the influences on the $f_{32}$ or $\gamma$, the observational energy band, observational angles, and the parameters of the stratified medium will finally affect the afterglow polarizations., Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures, accepted by ApJ

The gamma-ray burst GRB 211211A and its associated kilonova-like emission were reported recently. A significant difference between this association event and GRB 170817A/AT 2017gfo is that GRB 211211A has a very long duration. In this paper, we show that this association event may arise from a neutron star$-$white dwarf (NS$-$WD) merger if a magnetar leaves finally in the central engine. Within the NS$-$WD merger, the main burst of GRB 211211A could be produced by magnetic bubble eruptions from toroidal magnetic field amplification of the pre-merger NS. This toroidal field amplification can be induced by the runaway accretion from the WD debris disc if the disc is in low initial entropy and efficient wind. While the extended emission of GRB 211211A is likely involved with magnetic propelling. The observed energetics and duration of the prompt emission of GRB 211211A can be fulfilled in comparison with those of accretion in hydrodynamical thermonuclear simulation, as long as the WD has a mass $\gtrsim1M_{\odot}$. Moreover, if the X-ray plateau in GRB afterglows is due to the magnetar spin-down radiation, GRB optical afterglows and kilonova-like emission can be well jointly modeled combining the standard forward shock with the radioactive decay power of $^{56}{\rm Ni}$ adding a rotational power input from the post-merger magnetar., Comment: Accepted by ApJ Letters. White-light superflares from ultra cool stars are thought to be resulted from magnetic reconnection, but the magnetic dynamics in a fully convective star is not clear yet. In this paper, we report a stellar superflare detected with the Ground Wide Angle Camera (GWAC), along with rapid follow-ups with the F60A, Xinglong 2.16m and LCOGT telescopes. The effective temperature of the counterpart is estimated to be $2200\pm50$K by the BT-Settl model, corresponding to a spectral type of L0. The $R-$band light curve can be modeled as a sum of three exponential decay components, where the impulsive component contributes a fraction of 23\% of the total energy, while the gradual and the shallower decay phases emit 42\% and 35\% of the total energy, respectively. The strong and variable Balmer narrow emission lines indicate the large amplitude flare is resulted from magnetic activity. The bolometric energy released is about $6.4\times10^{33}$ ergs, equivalent to an energy release in a duration of 143.7 hours at its quiescent level. The amplitude of $\Delta R=-8.6 $mag ( or $\Delta V=-11.2$ mag), placing it one of the highest amplitudes of any ultra cool star recorded with excellent temporal resolution. We argue that a stellar flare with such rapidly decaying and huge amplitude at distances greater than 1 kpc may be false positive in searching for counterparts of catastrophic events such as gravitational wave events or gamma-ray bursts, which are valuable in time-domain astronomy and should be given more attention., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures, 1 table, MNRAS accepted

Compact objects (COs) can exist and evolve in an active galactic nuclei (AGN) disk, triggering a series of attractive CO-related multi-messenger events around a supermassive black hole. To better understand the nature of an embedded CO and its surroundings and to investigate CO-related events more accurately, in this paper, we study the specific accretion process of a CO in an AGN disk and explore the role of outflow feedback. We show that the asymptotically isotropic outflow generated from the CO hyper-Eddington accretion would truncate the circum-CO disk and push out its surrounding gas, resulting in recurrent formation and refilling of an outflow cavity to intermittently stop the accretion. Applying this universal cyclic process to black holes (BHs) and neutron stars (NSs), we find that, even if it is above the Eddington rate, the mass rate accreted onto a BH is dramatically reduced compared with the initial gas captured rate and thus consumes few mass of the AGN disk; outflow feedback on a NS is generally similar, but possesses complexities on the existence of a stellar magnetic field and hard surface. We demonstrate that although outflow feedback itself may be unobservable, it remarkably alters the CO evolution via reducing its mass growth rate, and the AGN disk can survive from the otherwise drastic CO accretion overlooking outflow. GRB 221009A is the brightest gamma-ray burst ever detected since the discovery of this kind of energetic explosions. However, an accurate measurement of the prompt emission properties of this burst is very challenging due to its exceptional brightness. With joint observations of \textit{Insight}-HXMT and GECAM-C, we made an unprecedentedly accurate measurement of the emission during the first $\sim$1800 s of GRB 221009A, including its precursor, main emission (ME, which dominates the burst in flux), flaring emission and early afterglow, in the hard X-ray to soft gamma-ray band from $\sim$ 10 keV to $\sim$ 6 MeV. Based on the GECAM-C unsaturated data of the ME, we measure a record-breaking isotropic equivalent energy ($E_{\rm iso}$) of $\bf \sim 1.5 \times 10^{55}$ erg, which is about eight times the total rest-mass energy of the Sun. The early afterglow data require a significant jet break between 650 s and 1100 s, most likely at $\sim950$ s from the afterglow starting time $T_{AG}$, which corresponds to a jet opening angle of $\sim {0.7^\circ} \ (\eta_\gamma n)^{1/8}$, where $n$ is the ambient medium density in units of $\rm cm^{-3}$ and $\eta_\gamma$ is the ratio between $\gamma$-ray energy and afterglow kinetic energy. The beaming-corrected total $\gamma$-ray energy $E_{\gamma}$ is $\sim 1.15 \times10^{51} \ (\eta_\gamma n)^{1/4}$ erg, which is typical for long GRBs. These results suggest that this GRB may have a special central engine, which could launch and collimate a very narrowly beamed jet with an ordinary energy budget, leading to exceptionally luminous gamma-ray radiation per unit solid angle. Recently, the B.O.A.T. ("brightest of all time") gamma-ray burst, dubbed GRB 221009A, was detected by various instruments. Unprecedentedly, the GRB presented very-high-energy (VHE, energy above 0.1 TeV) gamma-ray emission with energy extending above 10 TeV, as reported by the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). We here demonstrate that the VHE and especially >10 TeV emission may originate from the internal hadronic dissipation of the GRB, without the need of invoking any exotic processes as suggested by some previous studies. We also discuss the constraints on the properties of the GRB ejecta from multiwavelength and multi-messenger observations, which favors a magnetically dominated GRB ejecta. Kilonovae are approximately thermal transients, produced by mergers of binary neutron stars (BNSs) and NS-black hole binaries. As the optical counterpart of the gravitational wave event GW170817, AT2017gfo is the first kilonova detected with smoking-gun evidence. Its observation offers vital information for constraining the Hubble constant, the source of cosmic $r$-process enrichment, and the equation of state of neutron stars. The 2.5-meter Wide-Field Survey Telescope (WFST) operates at six bands (u, g, r, i, z, w), spanning from 320 to 925 nm. It will be completed in the first half of 2023, and with a field-of-view diameter of 3 degrees, aims to detect kilonovae in the near future. In this article, considering the influence of the host galaxies and sky brightness, we generate simulated images to investigate WFST's ability to detect AT2017gfo-like kilonovae. Due to their spectra, host galaxies can significantly impact kilonova detection at a longer wavelength. When kilonovae are at peak luminosity, we find that WFST performs better in the g and r bands and can detect 90\% (50\%) kilonovae at a luminosity distance of 248 Mpc (338 Mpc) with 30 s exposures. Furthermore, to reflect actual efficiency under target-of-opportunity observations, we calculate the total time of follow-up under various localization areas and distances. We find that if the localization areas of most BNS events detected during the fourth observing (O4) run of LIGO and Virgo are hundreds of deg$^2$, WFST is expected to find $\sim$30\% kilonovae in the first two nights during O4 period., Comment: 18 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication by ApJ

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are highly dispersed millisecond-duration radio bursts, of which the physical origin is still not fully understood. FRB 20201124A is one of the most actively repeating FRBs. In this paper, we present the collection of 1863 burst dynamic spectra of FRB 20201124A measured with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). The current collection, taken from the observation during the FRB active phase from April to June 2021, is the largest burst sample detected in any FRB so far. The standard PSRFITs format is adopted, including dynamic spectra of the burst, and the time information of the dynamic spectra, in addition, mask files help readers to identify the pulse positions are also provided.

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are extragalactic radio transients with millisecond duration and extremely high brightness temperature. Very recently, some highly circularly polarized bursts were found in a repeater, FRB 20201124A. The significant circular polarization might be produced by coherent curvature radiation by bunches with the line of sight (LOS) deviating from the bunch central trajectories. In this work, we carry out simulations to study the statistical properties of burst polarization within the framework of coherent curvature radiation by charged bunches in the neutron star magnetosphere for repeating FRBs. The flux is almost constant within the opening angle of the bunch. However, when the LOS derivates from the bunch opening angle, the larger the derivation, the larger the circular polarization but the lower the flux. We investigate the statistical distribution of circular polarization and flux of radio bursts from an FRB repeater, and find that most of the bursts with high circular polarization have a relatively low flux. Besides, we find that most of the depolarization degrees of bursts have a small variation in a wide frequency band. Furthermore, we simulate the polarization angle (PA) evolution and find that most bursts show a flat PA evolution within the burst phases, and some bursts present a swing of PA., Comment: 12 pages, 13 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ

In the archive of the Ground Wide Angle Camera (GWAC), we found 43 white light flares from 43 stars, among which, three are sympathetic or homologous flares, and one of them also has a quasi-periodic pulsation with a period of $13.0\pm1.5$ minutes. Among these 43 flare stars, there are 19 new active stars and 41 stars that have available TESS and/or K2 light curves, from which we found 931 stellar flares. We also obtained rotational or orbital periods of 34 GWAC flare stars, of which 33 are less than 5.4 days, and ephemerides of three eclipsing binaries from these light curves. Combining with low resolution spectra from LAMOST and the Xinglong 2.16m telescope, we found that $L_{\rm H\alpha}/L_{\rm bol}$ are in the saturation region in the rotation-activity diagram. From the LAMOST medium-resolution spectrum, we found that Star \#3 (HAT 178-02667) has double H$\alpha$ emissions which imply it is a binary, and two components are both active stars. Thirteen stars have flare frequency distributions (FFDs) from TESS and/or K2 light curves. These FFDs show that the flares detected by GWAC can occur at a frequency of 0.5 to 9.5 yr$^{-1}$. The impact of flares on habitable planets was also studied based on these FFDs, and flares from some GWAC flare stars may produce enough energetic flares to destroy ozone layers, but none can trigger prebiotic chemistry on their habitable planets., Comment: 20 pages, 9 figures, 3 tables

We investigate the dynamics and electromagnetic (EM) signatures of neutron star-neutron star (NS-NS) or neutron star-black hole (NS-BH) merger ejecta that occurs in the accretion disk of an active galactic nucleus (AGN). We find that the interaction between ejecta and disk gas leads to important effects on the dynamics and radiation. We show five stages of the ejecta dynamics: gravitational slowing down, coasting, Sedov-Taylor deceleration in the disk, re-acceleration after the breakout from the disk surface, and momentum-conserved snowplow phase. Meanwhile, the radiation from the ejecta is so bright that its typical peak luminosity reaches a few times $10^{43}-10^{44}~\rm erg~s^{-1}$. Since most of the radiation energy has converted from the kinetic energy of merger ejecta, we call such an explosive phenomenon an interacting kilonova (IKN). It should be emphasized that IKNe are very promising, bright EM counterparts to NS-NS/BH-NS merger events in AGN disks. The bright peak luminosity and long rising time (i.e., ten to twenty days in UV bands, thirty to fifty days in optical bands, and one hundred days to hundreds of days in IR bands) allow most survey telescopes to have ample time to detect an IKN. However, the peak brightness, peak time, and evolution pattern of the light curve of an IKN are similar to a superluminous supernova in a galactic nucleus and a tidal disruption event making it difficult to distinguish between them. In this paper, we model the dynamics and radiation physics of the rarity event GRB 221009A afterglow in detail. By introducing a top-hat jet that propagates in an environment dominated by stellar winds, we explain the publicly available observations of afterglow associated with GRB 221009A over the first week. It is predicted that GRB 221009A emits a luminous very high energy (VHE) afterglow based on the synchrotron self-Compton (SSC) process in our model. We show the broadband spectral energy distribution (SED) analysis results of GRB 221009A, and find that the SSC radiation component of GRB 221009A is very bright in the 0.1 - 10 TeV band. The integrated SED shows that the SSC emission in the TeV band has significantly higher than the detection sensitivity of LHASSO, MAGIC and CTA. However, since the release of further observations, deviations from the standard wind environment model gradually show up in data. For example, the late-time multiband afterglow cannot be consistently explained under the standard wind environment scenario. It may be necessary to consider modeling with a structured jet with complex geometry or a partial revision of the standard model. Furthermore, we find that the inclusion of GeV observations could break the degeneracy between model parameters, highlighting the significance of high-energy observations in determining accurate parameters for GRB afterglows., Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, ApJ accepted version

We report the properties of more than 800 bursts detected from the repeating fast radio burst (FRB) source FRB 20201124A with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio telescope (FAST) during an extremely active episode on UTC September 25th-28th, 2021 in a series of four papers. In this fourth paper of the series, we present a systematic search of the spin period and linear acceleration of the source object from both 996 individual pulse peaks and the dedispersed time series. No credible spin period was found from this data set. We rule out the presence of significant periodicity in the range between 1 ms to 100 s with a pulse duty cycle $< 0.49\pm0.08$ (when the profile is defined by a von-Mises function, not a boxcar function) and linear acceleration up to $300$ m s$^{-2}$ in each of the four one-hour observing sessions, and up to $0.6$ m s$^{-2}$ in all 4 days. These searches contest theoretical scenarios involving a 1 ms to 100 s isolated magnetar/pulsar with surface magnetic field $<10^{15}$ G and a small duty cycle (such as in a polar-cap emission mode) or a pulsar with a companion star or black hole up to 100 M$_{\rm \odot}$ and $P_b>10$ hours. We also perform a periodicity search of the fine structures and identify 53 unrelated millisecond-timescale "periods" in multi-components with the highest significance of 3.9 $\sigma$. The "periods" recovered from the fine structures are neither consistent nor harmonically related. Thus they are not likely to come from a spin period. We caution against claiming spin periodicity with significance below $\sim$ 4 $\sigma$ with multi-components from one-off FRBs. As the third paper in the multiple-part series, we report the statistical properties of radio bursts detected from the repeating fast radio burst (FRB) source FRB 20201124A with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio telescope (FAST) during an extremely active episode between the 25th and the 28th of September 2021 (UT). We focus on the polarisation properties of 536 bright bursts with $\mathrm{S/N}>50$. We found that the Faraday rotation measures (RMs) monotonically dropped from $-579 \ {\rm rad \ m^{-2}}$ to $-605 \ {\rm rad \ m^{-2}}$ in the 4-day window. The RM values were compatible with the values ($-300$ to $-900\ {\rm rad \ m^{-2}}$ ) reported 4 month ago (Xu et al. 2022). However, the RM evolution rate in the current observation window was at least an order of magnitude smaller than the one ($\sim 500\ {\rm rad \ m^{-2}\, day^{-1}}$) previously reported during the rapid RM-variation phase, but is still higher than the one ($\le 1\ {\rm rad \ m^{-2} day^{-1}}$ ) during the later RM no-evolution phase. The bursts of FRB 20201124A were highly polarised with the total degree of polarisation (circular plus linear) greater than 90% for more than 90\% of all bursts. The distribution of linear polarisation position angles (PAs), degree of linear polarisation ($L/I$), and degree of circular polarisation ($V/I$) can be characterised with unimodal distribution functions. During the observation window, the distributions became wider with time, i.e. with larger scatter, but the centroids of the distribution functions remained nearly constant. For individual bursts, significant PA variations (confidence level 5-$\sigma$) were observed in 33% of all bursts. The polarisation of single pulses seems to follow certain complex trajectories on the Poincar\'e sphere, which may shed light on the radiation mechanism at the source or the plasma properties along the path of FRB propagation., Comment: 25 pages, 16 figures. Some repeating fast radio burst (FRB) sources show high burst rates, and the physical origin is still unknown. Outstandingly, the first repeater FRB 121102 appears extremely high burst rate with the maximum value reaching $122\,\mathrm{h^{-1}}$ or even higher. In this work, we propose that the high burst rate of an FRB repeater may be due to plate collisions in the crust of young neutron stars (NSs). In the crust of an NS, vortex lines are pinned to the lattice nuclei. When the relative angular velocity between the superfluid neutrons and the NS lattices is nonzero, a pinned force will act on the vortex lines, which will cause the lattice displacement and the strain on the NS crust growing. With the spin evolution, the crustal strain reaches a critical value, then the crust may crack into plates, and each of plates will collide with its adjacent ones. The Aflv\'en wave could be launched by the plate collisions and further produce FRBs. In this scenario, the predicted burst rate can reach $\sim 770\,\mathrm{h}^{-1}$ for an NS with the magnetic field of $10^{13}\,\rm{G}$ and the spin period of $0.01\,\rm{s}$. We further apply this model to FRB 121102, and predict the waiting time and energy distribution to be $P(t_{\mathrm{w}}) \propto t_{\text{w}}^{\alpha_{t_{\text{w}}}}$ with $\alpha_{t_{\text{w}}} \simeq -1.75$ and $N(E)\text{d}E \propto E^{\alpha_{E}}\text{d}E$ with $\alpha_{E} \simeq -1.67$, respectively. The total available sample of fast radio bursts (FRBs) has been growing steadily in recent years, facilitating the study of FRBs from a statistical point of view. At the same time, the classification of FRBs is currently an imperative issue. We propose that the brightness temperature of bursts can serve as an ideal criterion for classification. In this work, we gather the available data for all localized FRBs and we find a positive relation between the intrinsic pulse width and burst energy, $T_{\rm i}\propto E_\nu^{0.25}$, for three repeating FRBs that is similar to that of our previous work using FRB 20121102A data alone. The critical line $T_{\rm B,cri}$ is found to vary for different FRBs, which may reflect the differences in source properties. This relation can put strong constraints on mainstream radiation mechanisms. It is evident that neither the coherent curvature radiation or synchrotron maser radiation have the capability to reach the high brightness temperature required to reproduce this relation., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures

Despite decades of polarization observations and high-significance polarized $\gamma$-ray, X-ray, optical, and radio emissions in gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have been accumulating in dozens of cases, people have yet to find a consistent scenario for understanding the globally observed timing properties of GRB polarization to date. Here, we report that the observed properties of GRB polarization exhibit a four-segment timing evolution at the cosmological distance: (I) an initial hump early on (within the first few seconds); (II) a later on power-law decay (from $\sim$10$^{1}$ to $\sim$10$^{4}$ s), which takes the form of $\pi_{\rm obs} \propto t^{-0.50 \pm 0.02}$; (III) afterwards a late-time rebrightening hump (from $\sim$10$^{4}$ to $\sim$10$^{5}$ s); and (IV) finally a flatting power-law decay (from $\sim$ 10$^{5}$ to $\sim$ 10$^{7}$ s), with the the form of $\pi_{\rm obs} \propto t^{-0.21 \pm 0.08}$. These findings may present a challenge to the mainstream of polarization models that assume the polarization time evolution change in different emission regions. We show that these results can be explained by relativistic and geometric effects of a highly relativistic and magnetized jet generated by the central engine, and "magnetic patches" distributed as a globally random but locally coherent form. Our analysis suggests that there is a single dominant mechanism that might account for the global observational properties of GRB polarization, and other emission mechanisms and effects might play a role in spatially local and temporally short effects on GRB polarization., Comment: 46 pages, 13 figures, 3 tables

iPTF14hls is a luminous Type II supernova (SN) with a bumpy light curve that remains debated for its origin. It maintains roughly a constant effective temperature and luminosity since discovery for about 600 days, followed by a slow decay. On $\sim 1000$\ days post discovery the light curve transitions to a very steep decline. A spectrum taken during this steep decline phase shows clear signatures of shock interaction with dense circumstellar medium (CSM). Here we explore the possibility of iPTF14hls as an interaction-powered SN. The light curve of iPTF14hls can be fitted with wind-like CSMs. Analytic modeling indicates that iPTF14hls may have undertaken six episodes of mass loss during the last $\sim 200\mathrm{yr}$. Assuming that the 1954 eruption triggered the last mass-loss episode, the stellar-wind velocity is determined to be $40-70\mathrm{km}\mathrm{s}^{-1}$, depending on different models. Mass loss rates are in the range $% 0.4-3.3M_{\odot }\mathrm{yr}^{-1}$. The inferred total mass of ejecta and CSMs ($M_{\mathrm{ej}}+M_{\mathrm{CSMs}}\simeq 245M_{\odot }$) supports the idea that iPTF14hls may be a candidate for a (pulsational) pair-instability SN. We study the broadband radiation behavior of a kilonova ejecta-pulsar wind nebula (PWN) system. In this model, we jointly fit the observations of AT 2017gfo in UV-optical-IR bands and the late-time X-ray afterglow of GRB 170817A. Our work shows that a PWN powered by the remnant neutron star (NS) post GW170817 event could affect the optical transient AT 2017gfo and re-brighten the late-time X-ray afterglow of GRB 170817A. The PWN radiation will regulate the trend of future X-ray observations from a flattening to a steep decline until some other sources (e.g., a kilonova afterglow) become dominant. The restricted ranges of the central NS parameters in this work are consistent with the previous works based on the observations of AT 2017gfo only. In addition, the new fitting result indicates that the NS wind is highly magnetized. We point out that the radio and X-ray emission from a kilonova ejecta-PWN system could be an important electromagnetic feature of binary NS mergers when a long-lived remnant NS is formed. The physical origin of fast radio bursts (FRBs) remains unclear. Finding multiwavelength counterparts of FRBs can be a breakthrough in understanding their nature. In this work, we perform a systematic search for astronomical transients (ATs) whose positions are consistent with FRBs. We find an unclassified optical transient AT2020hur ($\alpha=01^{\mathrm{h}} 58^{\mathrm{m}} 00.750^{\mathrm{s}} \pm 1$ arcsec, $\delta=65^{\circ} 43^{\prime} 00.30^{\prime \prime} \pm 1$ arcsec) that is spatially coincident with the repeating FRB 180916B ($\alpha=01^{\mathrm{h}} 58^{\mathrm{m}} 00.7502^{\mathrm{s}} \pm 2.3$ mas, $\delta=65^{\circ} 43^{\prime} 00.3152^{\prime \prime} \pm 2.3$ mas). The chance possibility for the AT2020hur-FRB 180916B association is about 0.04%, which corresponds to a significance of $3.5\sigma$. We develop a giant flare afterglow model to fit AT2020hur. Although the giant flare afterglow model can interpret the observations of AT2020hur, the derived kinetic energy of such a GF is at least three orders of magnitude larger than that of the typical GF, and there is a lot of fine tuning and coincidences required for this model. Another possible explanation is that AT2020hur might consist of two or more optical flares originating from the FRB source, e.g. fast optical bursts produced by the inverse Compton scattering of FRB emission. Besides, AT2020hur is located in one of the activity windows of FRB 180916B, which is an independent support for the association. This coincidence may be due to the reason that the optical counterpart is subject to the same periodic modulation as FRB 180916B, as implied by the prompt FRB counterparts. To probe this question, we perform a statistical analysis using the first Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment Fast Radio Burst (CHIME/FRB) catalog and identify a few discriminant properties between repeating and non-repeating FRBs such as the repetition rate, duration, bandwidth, spectral index, peak luminosity, and potential peak frequency. If repeating and non-repeating FRBs belong to one population, their distribution distinctions for the repetition rate and duration can be explained by the selection effect due to the beamed emission as in Connor et al. (2020). However, we obtain that the distribution distinctions for the spectral index and potentially the peak frequency cannot be explained by the beamed emission within the framework of either the coherent curvature radiation or synchrotron maser emission. The total event number of fast radio bursts (FRBs) is accumulating rapidly with the improvement of existing radio telescopes and the completion of new facilities. Especially, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) Collaboration has just reported more than one thousand bursts in a short observing period of 47 days \citep{LiD2021}. The interesting bimodal distribution in their work motivates us to revisit the definition of FRBs. In this work, we ascribe the bimodal distribution to two physical kinds of radio bursts, which may have different radiation mechanisms. We propose to use brightness temperature to separate two subtypes. For FRB 20121102A, the critical brightness temperature is $T_{\rm B,cri}\simeq10^{33}\,\rm K$. Bursts with $T_{\rm B}\geq T_{\rm B,cri}$ are denoted as "classical" FRBs, and further we find a tight pulse width-fluence relation ($T\propto\mathcal{F_\nu}^{0.306}$) for them. On the contrary, the other bursts are considered as "atypical" bursts that may originate from a different physical process. We suggest that for each FRB event, a similar dividing line should exist but $T_{\rm B,cri}$ is not necessarily the same. We study the quiescent luminosities of accreting neutron stars by a new mechanism as neutrino heating for additional deep crustal heating, where the neutrino heating is produced by charged pions decay from the nuclear collisions on the surface of neutron star during its active accretion. For low mass neutron star($\lesssim1.4~M_{\odot}$), as the neutrino heating is little($\lesssim1$ MeV per accreted nucleon) or there would be no neutrino heating, the quiescent luminsoity will be not affected or slightly affected. While for massive neutron star ($\gtrsim2~M_{\odot}$), the quiescent luminosity will be enhanced more obviously with neutrino heating in the range 2-6 MeV per accreted nucleon. The observations on cold neutron stars such as 1H 19605+00, SAX J1808.4-3658 can be explained with neutrino heating if a fast cooling and heavy elements surface are considered. The observations on a hot neutron star such as RX J0812.4-3114 can be explained with neutrino heating if the direct Urca process is forbidden for a massive star with light elements surface, which is different from the previous work that the hot observations should be explained with small mass neutron star and the effect of superfluidity., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. An electron-positron layer can cover the surface of a bare strange star (SS), the electric field in which can excite the vacuum and drive a pair wind by taking away the heat of the star. In order to investigate the pair emission ability of a proto-SS, we establish a toy model to describe its early thermal evolution, where the initial trapping of neutrinos is specially taken into account. It is found that the early cooling of the SS is dominated by the neutrino diffusion rather than the conventional Urca processes, which leads to the appearance of an initial temperature plateau. During this plateau phase, the surface e^{+-} pair emission can keep a constant luminosity of 10^{48}-10^{50} erg s^{-1} for about a few to a few tens of seconds, which is dependent on the value of the initial temperature. The total energy released through this e^{+-} wind can reach as high as 10^{51} erg. The prompt emission of most gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) typically exhibits a non-thermal Band component. The synchrotron radiation in the popular internal shock model is generally put forward to explain such a non-thermal component. However, the low-energy photon index $\alpha \sim -1.5$ predicted by the synchrotron radiation is inconsistent with the observed value $\alpha \sim -1$. Here, we investigate the evolution of a magnetic field during propagation of internal shocks within an ultrarelativistic outflow, and revisit the fast cooling of shock-accelerated electrons via synchrotron radiation for this evolutional magnetic field. We find that the magnetic field is first nearly constant and then decays as $B'\propto t^{-1}$, which leads to a reasonable range of the low-energy photon index, $-3/2 < \alpha < -2/3$. The recent discovery of a Galactic fast radio burst (FRB) associated with a hard X-ray burst from the soft gamma-ray repeater (SGR) J1935+2154 has established the magnetar origin of at least some FRBs. In this work, we study the statistical properties of soft gamma-/hard X-ray bursts from SGRs 1806--20 and J1935+2154 and of radio bursts from the repeating FRB 121102. For SGRs, we show that the probability density functions for the differences of fluences, fluxes, and durations at different times have fat tails with a $q$-Gaussian form. The $q$ values in the $q$-Gaussian distributions are approximately steady and independent of the temporal interval scale adopted, implying a scale-invariant structure of SGRs. These features indicate that SGR bursts may be governed by a self-organizing criticality (SOC) process, confirming previous findings. Very recently, 1652 independent bursts from FRB 121102 have been detected by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). Here we also investigate the scale-invariant structure of FRB 121102 based on the latest observations of FAST, and show that FRB 121102 and SGRs share similar statistical properties. Given the bimodal energy distribution of FRB 121102 bursts, we separately explore the scale-invariant behaviors of low- and high-energy bursts of FRB 121102. We find that the $q$ values of low- and high-energy bursts are different, which further strengthens the evidence of the bimodality of the energy distribution. Scale invariance in both the high-energy component of FRB 121102 and SGRs can be well explained within the same physical framework of fractal-diffusive SOC systems., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, 1 table. We perform a Bayesian analysis of neutrons star moment of inertia by utilizing the available gravitational-wave data from LIGO/Virgo (GW170817 and GW190425) and mass-radius measurements from the Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer (PSR J0030+0415 and PSR J0740+6620), incorporating the possible phase transition in the pulsar inner core. We find that the moment of inertia of pulsar A in the double pulsar binary J0737-3039 is $\sim1.30\times10^{45}\,{\rm g\,cm^2}$, which only slightly depends on the employed hadronic equation of states. We also demonstrate how a moment of inertia measurement would improve our knowledge of the equation of state and the mass-radius relation for neutron stars and discuss whether a quark deconfinement phase transition is supported by the available data and forthcoming data that could be consistent with this hypothesis. We find that if pulsar A is a quark star, that its moment of inertia is a large value of $\sim1.55\times10^{45}\,{\rm g\,cm^2}$ suggesting the possibility of distinguishing it from (hybrid-)neutron stars with measurements of PSR J0737-3039A moment of inertia. A relativistic electron-positron ($e^{+}e^{-}$) pair wind from a rapidly rotating, strongly magnetized neutron star (NS) would interact with a gamma-ray burst (GRB) external shock and reshapes afterglow emission signatures. Assuming that the merger remnant of GW170817 is a long-lived NS, we show that a relativistic $e^{+}e^{-}$ pair wind model with a simple top-hat jet viewed off-axis can reproduce multi-wavelength afterglow lightcurves and superluminal motion of GRB 170817A. The Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is adopted to obtain the best-fitting parameters, which give the jet half-opening angle $\theta_{j}\approx0.11$ rad, and the viewing angle $\theta_{v}\approx0.23$ rad. The best-fitting value of $\theta_{v}$ is close to the lower limit of the prior which is chosen based on the gravitational-wave and electromagnetic observations. In addition, we also derive the initial Lorentz factor $\Gamma_{0}\approx47$ and the isotropic kinetic energy $E_{\rm K,iso}\approx2\times10^{52}\rm\ erg$. A consistence between the corrected on-axis values for GRB 170817A and typical values observed for short GRBs indicates that our model can also reproduce the prompt emission of GRB 170817A. An NS with a magnetic field strength $B_{p}\approx1.6\times10^{13}\rm\ G$ is obtained in our fitting, indicating that a relatively low thermalization efficiency $\eta\lesssim10^{-3}$ is needed to satisfy observational constraints on the kilonova. Furthermore, our model is able to reproduce a late-time shallow decay in the X-ray lightcurve and predicts that the X-ray and radio flux will continue to decline in the coming years., Comment: 16 pages including 10 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are mysterious radio transients with millisecond durations. Recently, a periodic activity of $\sim$16 day and a possible periodicity of $\sim$159 day were detected to arise from FRB 180916.J0158+65 and FRB 121102, respectively, and the spin period of a slow-rotation magnetar was further considered to be one of possibilities to explain the periodic activities of repeating FRBs. For isolated neutron stars, the spin evolution suggests that it's difficult to reach several hours. In this work, we mainly focus on the possible maximum spin period of isolated NSs / magnetars dominated by an interaction between star's magnetic field and the disk. We find that the disk wind plays an important role in spin evolution, whose influence varies the power law index in the evolution equation of mass flow rate. For a magnetar without disk wind, the longest spin period is tens of hours. When the disk wind with a classical parameter is involved, the maximum spin period can reach hundreds of hours. But for a much extremely large index of mass flow rate due to disk wind or other angular momentum extraction processes, a spin period of $\sim$(16-160) days is still possible., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ

In this work, we propose an accreting stellar binary model for understanding the active periodic fast radio bursts (FRBs). The system consists of a stellar compact object (CO) and a donor star (DS) companion in an eccentric orbit, where the DS fills its own Roche lobe near the periastron. The CO accretes the material from the DS and then drive relativistic magnetic blobs. The interaction between the magnetic blobs and the stellar wind of the DS produces a pair of shocks. We find that both of the reverse shock and the forward shock are likely to produce FRBs via synchrotron maser mechanism. We show that this system can in principle sufficiently produce highly active FRBs with a long lifetime, and also can naturally explain the periodicity and the duty cycle of the activity as appeared in FRBs 180916 and 121102. The radio nebula excited by the long-term injection of magnetic blobs into the surrounding environment may account for the associated persistent radio source. In addiction, we discuss the possible multi-wavelength counterparts of FRB 180916 in the context of this model. Very recently a fast radio burst (FRB) 200428 associated with a strong X-ray burst from the Galactic magnetar SGR 1935+2154 has been detected, which is direct evidence supporting the magnetar progenitor models of FRBs. Assuming the FRB radiation mechanism is synchrotron maser emission from magnetized shocks, we develop a specific scenario by introducing a density jump structure of upstream medium, and thus the double-peaked character of FRB 200428 is a natural outcome. The luminosity and emission frequency of two pulses can be well explained in this scenario. Furthermore, we find that the synchrotron emission of shock-accelerated electrons is in the X-ray band, which therefore can be responsible for at least a portion of observed X-ray fluence. With proper upgrade, this density jump scenario can be potentially applied to FRBs with multiple peaks in the future., Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures
