Since the initial impoundment and commissioning of the Three Gorges Reservoir in June 2003, seismic activity surrounding the reservoir region has undergone substantial changes. Leveraging geological and hydrogeological data from the Three Gorges Reservoir area, this study statistically analyzes the historical water level and earthquake catalog within the reservoir. By examining the correlation between reservoir water levels and earthquake frequency, the relationship between seismicity along the Xiannvshan fault and water level is analyzed. Additionally, the ArcGIS software is employed to evaluate the spatial pattern of earthquake epicenters during the filling of the Three Gorges Reservoir, with the goal of elucidating the impact of water impoundment at the Three Gorges on the activity along the Xiannvshan fault. The results demonstrate the following. (1) There is a complex process of “continuous loading, permeation and saturation, rebound and rebalancing” in the crust of the reservoir head area during the impoundment of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, and the activity of the Xiannvshan fault is closely related to the reservoir water level. (2) At the 135 m impoundment stage, Xiannvshan fault activity is mainly affected by reservoir water level and is positively correlated with reservoir water level. At the 156 m impoundment stage, reservoir water load is still the main influencing factor of Xiannvshan fault activity, but the permeability of reservoir water is enhanced in this stage. (3) The earthquake epicenters near the northern section of the Xiannvshan fault are clustered during the 175 m experimental impoundment stage. During the continuous loading stage, the reservoir water load is still the main control factor of the Xiannvshan fault, and the seismic activity is significantly enhanced. From November 2010 to November 2013, during the permeation and saturation stage, the dominant factor of Xiannvshan fault activity changed from reservoir water load to reservoir water infiltration along the Xiannvshan fault. The period from 2013.11 to 2014.5 was a vertical rebound stage, and the infiltration effect of reservoir water had a more significant impact on Xiannvshan fault activities.

It is an increasingly mature application solution that triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) supplies power to electronic devices through its power management system (PMS). However, the previous PMS is able to manage a limited voltage magnitude and the energy storage elements are limited to capacitors. This work proposes an ultrahigh voltage PMS (UV‐PMS) to realize the charging of commercial lithium cells (LCs) by TENG. The design of UV‐PMS enables energy management of TENGs with ultrahigh open‐circuit voltages up to 3500 V and boosts the peak charging current from 30.9 µA to 2.77 mA, an increase of 89.64 times. With the introduction of UV‐PMS, the effective charging capacity of LC charged by a TENG at a working frequency of 1.5 Hz for 1 h comes to 429.7 µAh, making a 75.3 times enhancement compared to charging by TENG directly. The maximum charging power comes to 1.56 mW. The energy storage efficiency is above 97% and the overall charge efficiency can be maintained at 81.2%. This work provides a reliable strategy for TENG to store energy in LC, and has promising applications in energy storage, LC's life, and self‐powered systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The metal–insulator transition (MIT) of vanadium dioxide (VO2), which involves significant changes in electrical, optical, and other properties, has attracted widespread attention. Here, we report a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG)-based self-powered VO2 phase transition. With the TENG-induced ionic gel gating, the hydrogen ion insertion/detachment in the VO2 lattice can be modulated at room temperature to cause phase transitions that control light transmittance. The phase transition behavior is characterized by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Under the continuous power supply from TENG, the X-ray diffraction peak of VO2 shifts, and the Raman intensities of characteristic peaks decrease, accompanied by a color change from brown to translucent. The electrical conductivity undergoes a significant change by two orders of magnitude and persists overnight, indicating an excellent duration of the phase transition. In addition, a raindrop TENG-induced VO2 phase transition is demonstrated. The infrared transmittance of VO2 is decreased dramatically by 28.1% due to the phase transition, achieving a heat preservation effect that holds promise for adaptive thermal insulation in smart windows during rainfall through raindrop power generation. The emerging tribovoltaic nanogenerators (TVNGs) has garnered considerable attention in recent years owing to its higher power density, but it is still limited by unstable output, mismatched impedance, and lower charging speed. Herein, a power‐managed GaN‐based TVNG is first proposed and a self‐powered wireless temperature monitoring system (SWTMS) is developed. The energy backflow from transition capacitor to TVNG is effectively suppressed by applying a high‐voltage‐resistant diode. Benefiting from the combination of the maximum power point tracking (MPPT and the buck converter, an autonomous power management unit (PMU) is designed. The internal impedance of TVNG with PMU decreases by ten times and the charging speed of capacitor increases by 7.18 times compared to those without PMU. Moreover, 100 LEDs and six parallel thermohygrometers can be constantly powered. The wireless temperature monitoring in industrial environments without external power supply is demonstrated through the developed SWTMS. This work proposes an effective power management strategy for TVNG with high output voltage, which exhibits great potential to promote the development of self‐powered sensors and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
