Actual evapotranspiration constitutes a vital component of the exchange of energy and water vapour between the soil‐vegetation and atmospheric systems on terrestrial terrain. Nevertheless, the Tibetan Plateau, owing to its austere environmental conditions, harbours a scarcity of terrestrial monitoring stations. This circumstance presents a formidable challenge in attaining precise estimations of actual evapotranspiration. The complementary relationship method is a potential approach because it requires only routine meteorological data to estimate actual evapotranspiration on a regional or global scale. However, the suitability of the complementary relationship model across diverse ecosystems on the Tibetan Plateau necessitates further investigation. In this study, we scrutinized the simulation of daily and monthly actual evapotranspiration across 18 observation sites spanning eight distinct land use categories on the Tibetan Plateau. We employed the polynomial generalized complementary function introduced by Brutsaert (B2015), alongside its enhanced rendition proposed by Szilagyi (S2017) and Crago (C2018). The outcomes reveal that all three models adeptly replicate the fluctuations in actual evapotranspiration, irrespective of land use category or temporal scale—whether daily or monthly. This is true regardless of whether original or calibrated parameter values are applied. However, there exist significant variations in the performance of these models. In general, the C2018 model demonstrates superior performance across most ecosystems when original parameters are employed. Following parameter calibration, the simulation efficacy of the models experienced marked enhancement. Post parameter calibration, the B2015 model outperforms the other two models notably in desert and wetland environments. Furthermore, the simulation outputs from all three models display heightened sensitivity to parameter α, particularly in the context of the C2018 and S2017 models. These findings suggest that accurate estimation of parameter values is critical to improving the accuracy of estimating actual evapotranspiration. Calibrated parameter values, contingent on a fusion of vegetation, meteorology and surface roughness, exhibit variability across diverse ecosystems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Understanding of the spatio-temporal propagation of drought is a challenging issue as the hydro-climatic processes are inter-connected. Recent developments in network theory offer new avenues to study the propagation of drought. Three metrics that quantify the strength, dominant orientation and distance of droughts are employed to investigate the spatio-temporal propagation. The results show that (1) the network approach based on the event synchronization is a useful tool to study the propagation of drought; (2) The drought events occurring in the south of the study area are more likely to spread outward, and the drought events occurring in the midwestern regions are more likely to be affected by drought events in other regions; (3) The dominant position of drought transmission in the study area has obvious regional characteristics. The midwestern regions are more susceptible to the influence of drought events in the western regions, while other regions are more likely to spread drought events to the inside world. The findings of this paper could help researchers to initially understand the propagation of spatio-temporal droughts over Eastern China.

Reservoirs in the Daqing River mountainous area have always been an important source of replenishment for Baiyangdian Lake. With the development of water source economy and society, the reservoir’s ecological water replenishment potential for Baiyangdian Lake will undergo great changes. This article first analyzes the current situation of ecological water replenishment in Baiyangdian Lake. On this basis, the ecological water supply potential of the upstream reservoir to Baiyangdian Lake in the future was calculated. The results of the study show that from 2001 to 2018, the amount of water entering the upper reaches of the reservoir showed an overall upward trend, and the upward trend of runoff from the Xidayang Reservoir was the most obvious. Under different incoming water conditions, the ecological water supply potential of the upstream reservoir to Baiyangdian varies greatly. It can reach 320 million m3 in a wet year and only 50 million m3 in a dry year. In the continuous dry years, the average multi-year water supply potential of the reservoirs to the river and Baiyangdian Lake is about 146 million m3. The results of this paper can be used as a reference for Baiyangdian Lake’s ecological water replenishment scheduling

Based on the Penman-Monteith formula recommended by the World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Mann-Kendall trend test method, the variation trend of potential evapotranspiration in the Yellow River Basin from 1952 to 2014 is analyzed. The results showed that the potential evapotranspiration of 43.3% of the 90 meteorological stations in the Yellow River Basin showed a significant upward trend. 30% of the stations showed a significant downward trend, and 26.7% of the stations had no obvious trend of change. In all the secondary areas of water resources, the stations above Longyangxia are basically marked upward. The Longyangxia to the northern part of Lanzhou, the Longmen to the east of Sanmenxia and the Sanmenxia to Huayuankou are all significant descending sites. The change trend of the sites below the Huayuankou is not obvious. In other partition three kinds of sites are distributed. Through the correlation analysis, it is found that the increase of temperature has a great influence on the stations where the potential evapotranspiration is significantly increased, and the decrease of wind speed is the main reason for the significant decrease of potential evapotranspiration in some stations.

Enniatins (ENNs) and beauvericin (BEA), known as emerging mycotoxins, are the toxic secondary metabolites produced by various Fusarium species. Most grain and grain-based products are contaminated with ENNs and BEA. Animals have been exposed to ENNs and BEA primarily due to consumption of cereal grains and cereal by-products. ENNs and BEA have been detected in animal-derived food and human breast milk, and they pose significant threats to public health. Therefore, more contamination data are urgently needed for the risk assessment of ENNs and BEA present in animal-derived food. To ensure the quality of animal-derived food, a method has been developed for the simultaneous detection of five emerging mycotoxins (viz. enniatin B, enniatin B1, enniatin A, enniatin A1, and beauvericin) in eggs by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) coupled with cold-induced liquid-liquid extraction (CI-LLE) and dispersive solid phase extraction (DSPE). The main factors governing the response, recovery, and sensitivity of the method, such as the type of extraction solvent, the temperature and duration of cold treatment in CI-LLE, the type and dosages of adsorbents, and apparatus conditions and the type of mobile phase used, were optimized during sample pretreatment and instrument analysis. The mycotoxin residues in eggs were extracted using 20 mL acetonitrile-water-acetic acid (79∶20∶1, v/v/v) mixture for 20 min by the vortex shock method. After mixing, the mixture was frozen for 30 min in a freezer at -40 ℃ and centrifuged for 10 min at 10000 r/min. A 2 mL aliquot of the upper acetonitrile layer was purified by using 70 mg of C18 adsorbents. After whirling, the mixtures were centrifuged at 10000 r/min for 5 min. The purified solution was then concentrated to nearly dry in nitrogen atmosphere at 40 ℃. The residues were dissolved in 1.0 mL 80%(v/v) acetonitrile aqueous solution. The target analytes were separated on an ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 chromatographic column (100 mm×2.1 mm, 1.7 μm) at a column temperature of 40 ℃, with a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min. The injection volume was 5 μL, and gradient elution was conducted using acetonitrile and 5 mmol/L ammonium formate solution as the mobile phases. Multiple reactions monitoring (MRM) was conducted in the positive electrospray ionization (ESI + ) mode. The isotope internal standard method was used for quantification of BEA, and the matrix-matched external standard method was used for quantification of four ENNs. The results of the optimized method showed that the five analytes were completely separated by using the above-mentioned chromatographic column. Good linear relationships were obtained for the five mycotoxins in the concentration range of 0.1-50.0 μg/L; the correlation coefficient ( r 2 ) ranged from 0.9983 to 0.9997. The limits of detection (LODs) ranged from 0.05 to 0.15 μg/kg, while the limits of quantification (LOQs) ranged from 0.20 to 0.50 μg/kg. Accuracy and precision experiments were conducted by spiking egg samples with known amounts of analytes at three concentration levels (0.5, 5.0, and 25.0 μg/kg, in compliance with the current legislation) with six replicates. The average recoveries of the five analytes ranged from 81.1% to 106%, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were between 0.27% and 9.79%. The matrix effects of the analytes were between 2.70% and 45.1% in egg samples after pretreatment by CI-LLE coupled with DSPE. The developed method was applied to the determination of five mycotoxins in rural eggs and commercial eggs. BEA was detected in most rural egg samples, with detection rates of 30.4%. None of the four ENN residues were detected. Therefore, we can conclude that the method described herein has the advantages of sensitivity, stabilization, accuracy, good recovery, and easy operation, and is suitable for the simultaneous and rapid determination of BEA and ENN residues in eggs.
