We report a unique case of a 25-year-old man who was incidentally identified to have a mass in the left adrenal gland region by computerized tomography scan. The image revealed a 1.8 × 1.6 cm, well-defined adrenal mass with moderately homogeneous enhancement. The mass was laparoscopically completely removed, and the diagnosis of a solid variant glomus tumor of the adrenal gland was rendered. There were no histologic features indicating atypia or malignance and no primary tumors anywhere else. The patient was free of disease at the 6-month follow-up. To our knowledge, this is the first case of primary adrenal glomus tumor described in the literature.

Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have been extensively explored as prognostic biomarkers and cellular immunotherapy methods in cancer patients. However, the prognostic significance of TILs in bladder cancer remains unresolved. We evaluated the prognostic effect of TILs in bladder cancer patients. Sixty-four bladder cancer patients who underwent surgical resection between 2018 and 2020 in Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital were analyzed in this study. Immunohistochemistry was used to evaluate CD3, CD4, CD8, and FoxP3 expression on TILs in the invasive margin of tumor tissue, and the presence of TIL subsets was correlated with the disease-free survival (DFS) of bladder cancer patients. The relationship between clinical-pathological features and DFS were analyzed. A high level of CD3+TILs (CD3highTILs) (P = 0.027) or negative expression of FoxP3 TILs (FoxP3- TILs) (P = 0.016) was significantly related to better DFS in bladder cancer patients. Those with CD3highFoxP3- TILs had the best prognosis compared to those with CD3highFoxP3+ TILs or CD3lowFoxP3- TILs (P = 0.0035). Advanced age [HR 4.57, (1.86-11.25); P = 0.001], CD3low TILs [HR 0.21, (0.06-0.71); P = 0.012], CD8low TILs [HR 0.34, (0.12-0.94); P = 0.039], and FoxP3+ TILs [HR 10.11 (1.96-52.27); P = 0.006] in the invasive margin were associated with a worse prognosis (DFS) by multivariate analysis. In conclusion, we demonstrated that CD3high, FoxP3-, and CD3highFoxP3- TILs in the invasive margin were significantly associated with better DFS. CD8high and CD4high TILs in the invasive margin tended to predict better DFS in bladder cancer. Patients with CD4highCD8high TILs in the invasive margin were likely to have a better prognosis.

BCOR-CCNB3 fusion sarcoma is a recently described undifferentiated sarcoma with a novel recurrent inversion of 2 nearby genes BCOR and CCNB3. It typically affects bone and soft tissues of the pelvis, extremity, and paraspinal region and pursues variable clinical course. Primary renal BCOR-CCNB3 fusion sarcoma is very rare, and only a small number of cases have been documented. Accurate diagnosis is often challenging, and there is not any agreement for the treatment of this entity due to its rarity. We report findings of primary renal BCOR-CCNB3 fusion sarcoma in a 16-year-old boy with a brief review of the literature.

To determine whether di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) promotes the occurrence of bladder cancer (BCa) and explore the action of DBP acts on BCa cells at the cellular and molecular levels.MTT and Transwell assays were used to investigate the tumorigenic actions of DBP on BCa cells. Second-generation sequencing was used to identify differences in gene expression before and after DBP treatment. Differential gene expression was verified by q-PCR and analyzed using bioinformatics. Cells were transfected to overexpress genes of interest and proliferation and migration were measured using MTT and Transwell assays, respectively.DBP treatment stimulated both proliferation and invasion in BCa cells. Second-generation sequencing identified differences in the expression of FOSB, JUND, ATP6V1C2, and RHOQ before and after DBP treatment. FOSB expression was confirmed by q-PCR and bioinformatic analyses. FOSB overexpression increased both proliferation and invasion in BCa cells.DBP promoted BCa tumorigenesis by inducing changes in gene expression.

The objective of this study was to investigate the expression of vesicular amine transporter 1 (VAT1) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and its prognostic value and to analyze the relationship between VAT1 expression and clinicopathological features of HCC. First, several public databases, including Ualcan, GEPIA, and Oncomine, were used to analyze the expression of VAT1 in HCC and normal liver tissue. Next, 330 HCC and 190 normal liver samples were stained by immunohistochemistry and scored. Finally, we evaluated the clinical significance of VAT1 as a prognostic factor according to the clinicopathological characteristics. We observed that the expression level of VAT1 in HCC samples was significantly higher than that in normal liver tissues, and the high expression of VAT1 protein in HCC was significantly correlated with patient age, tumor size, number of tumors, and vascular metastasis (P < 0.05). The average survival time of HCC patients with high expression of VAT1 was significantly lower than that of patients with low expression of VAT1. Further analysis demonstrated that VAT1 expression was significantly correlated with the length of overall survival in HCC patients. In conclusion, VAT1 may have an essential function in the progression of HCC, and the level of its expression may effectively predict the invasion and prognosis of HCC. Moreover, the combination of information contained in public databases and the results of the analysis of clinical samples can help us to understand better the mechanism of action of molecular oncogenes in HCC.

Advancing knowledge of the transcriptome has revealed that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are widely expressed and evolutionarily conserved molecules that may serve relevant biological roles. More interesting is the accumulating evidence which demonstrates the implication of circRNAs in diseases, especially cancers. This revelation has helped to form the rationale for many studies exploring their utility as clinical biomarkers. CircRNAs are highly stable due to their unique structures, exhibit some tissue specificity, and are enriched in exosomes, which facilitate their detection in a range of body fluids. These properties make circRNAs ideal candidates for biomarker development in many diseases. This review will outline the discovery, biogenesis, and proposed functions of circRNAs.

The linear mRNAs transcribed under alternative RNA splicing and overexpression/amplification of the androgen receptor (AR) gene are poor prognostic biomarkers of castrate-resistant prostate cancer (PCa). Whether the AR gene also transcribes non-coding circular RNAs that are associated with PCa development and tumor progression remains unclear. Here, we identified and characterized an AR circular RNA, called circAR3, that is widely expressed in PCa cell models and prostate tumors. circAR3 can be secreted into culture media of PCa cell lines and is detectable in the serum from mice bearing PCa xenografts. In PCa patient tissues, circAR3 is highly expressed in benign prostate and hormone naive PCa but downregulated when tumors were treated with neoadjuvant hormone therapy and further reduced when tumors progressed to the castrate-resistant stage. However, circAR3 levels in plasma are extremely low in patients with benign prostate, are upregulated in PCa patients with high Gleason scores and lymph node metastasis, and become undetectable in men after radical prostatectomy. circAR3 does not affect AR signaling, PCa cell proliferation, and invasion rates. Our results demonstrated that the origin of the detectable plasma circAR3 is from the prostate/PCa. Plasma circAR3 may be developed to be a PCa biomarker to monitor PCa development and tumor progression. Metabolic reprogramming of cancer cells is a hallmark of cancer, in which the polar metabolites involving aerobic glycolysis, pentose phosphate pathway (PPP), tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, and glutaminolysis play a crucial role in the occurrence and development of cancer. Therefore, targeted analysis of the polar metabolites in these pathways is of great value for understanding cancers, finding diagnostic biomarkers, and identifying therapeutic targets. However, it is still challenging to directly determine polar metabolites in these pathways without derivatization due to their diverse chemical properties, isomers, and strong polarity. Herein, a highly selective and sensitive HILIC-MS/MS method was developed for direct determination of the polar metabolites in aerobic glycolysis, PPP, TCA cycle, and glutaminolysis pathways. Without derivatization, 19 polar metabolites and their isomers with carbonyl, carboxyl, or phosphoryl groups in human plasma and cell extracts of prostate cancer (PC) were determined with strong retention and high resolution. This method has been widely verified by measuring linearity, precision, sensitivity, repeatability, matrix effect, and accuracy. The analysis of plasma samples by HILIC-MS/MS revealed distinct PC-specific metabolic signatures compared to a healthy control. In addition, this method could also be used to screen the targets of metabolic inhibitors at the cellular level. We conclude that the developed HILIC-MS/MS method provides a valuable means to study the cancer metabolic reprogramming or energy metabolism in living organisms.

PurposeThe purpose of study was to evaluate the safety and hemostatic efficacy of absorbable self-retaining barbed double-needle suture (SRBDS) in transperitoneal LPN for T1 renal neoplasms.MethodsIn total, 75 patients with renal neoplasm masses (< 7 cm) undergoing transperitoneal LPN were collected since January 2018 to October 2019. After tumor resection with a cold Endoscissor, 3-0 and 0 SRBDS was performed for inner and outer running stitches without either hem-o-lok or LapraTy clip, respectively. Patient demographic information, neoplasm characteristics, perioperative factors, and oncologic outcomes were collected and analyzed. ResultsAccording to our result, Median tumor size and R.E.N.A.L score was 4.69 cm and 7. Median operative time and overall warm ischemia time was 73 min and 13.14 min. Mean estimated blood loss was 67 ml. intraoperative complications was not showing up and no case was switched to open radical nephrectomy. Postoperative pathological assessment confirmed that negative surgical margins. only single patient experienced secondary surgery-related hemorrhage on the fifth day post-operation, and was treated by transfusion and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) highly selective embolization of the bleeding vessel. No patients developed urinoma or urinary fistula. the overall complications were manageable during three-year follow-up period. ConclusionSRBDS was a safe and efficient surgical endoscopic suturing technique with low complication rate in T1 renal neoplasms, which might be considered as an alternative to other suturing techniques, tissue sealants and glues for partial nephrectomy in the future.

To improve our knowledge of glacier change in the Tanggula Mountains located in the northeast of the Tibetan Plateau, we delineated outlines of the glaciers in 1991 and 2015 using Landsat TM/OLI images and compared them with the reported glacier data in the First Chinese Glacier Inventory in 1969 and the Second Chinese Glacier Inventory in 2007. These comparisons showed that the glacier area and ice volume decreased by 524.8 km2 and 37 km3, respectively. The majority of the glacier area loss was concentrated in the area class of 1–5 km2, between 5300 m and 5500 m in elevation, on north and east facing slopes and in the Dam Qu River basin. These glacier changes exhibited spatial and temporal differences. The glacier retreat rate gradually increased from 1969 to 2015, and the rate in the east was higher than that in the west. From 1969 to 2015, the warming rate in the Tanggula Mountains was 0.38°C/10a, while the annual precipitation only increased by 0.4%. The slight increase in the amount of precipitation made a limited contribution to glacier change, while the change in temperature led to noticeable shrinkage of the glaciers. Contrary to the retreat or stagnation of most glaciers in the study area, there were 10 glaciers that experienced clear advance in 1986–2015 with noticeable increases in both area and length. Whether or not these 10 glaciers are surge glaciers requires further study.

Regulatory T (Treg) cells maintain immune homeostasis by inhibiting abnormal/overactive immune responses to both autogenic and nonautogenic antigens. Treg cells play an important role in immune tolerance, autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases, organ transplantation, and tumor diseases. Treg cells have two functional characteristics: T cell anergy and immunosuppression. Treg cells remain immune unresponsive to high concentrations of interleukin-2 and anti-CD3 monoclonal antibodies. In addition, the activation of Treg cells after TCR-mediated signal stimulation inhibits the activation and proliferation of effector T cells. In the process of tumor development, Treg cells accumulate locally in the tumor and lead to tumor escape by inducing anergy and immunosuppression. It is believed that targeted elimination of Treg cells can activate tumor-specific effector T cells and improve the efficiency of cancer immunotherapy. Therefore, inhibition/clearance of Treg cells is a promising strategy for enhancing antitumor immunity. Here, we review studies of cancer immunotherapies targeting Treg cells.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second leading cause of cancer death in men in America, and there are no curative options for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Docetaxel (DTX) has been used as a standard chemotherapy for the mCRPC. However, resistance to DTX is a significant clinical problem as half of patients fail to respond to therapy. The TR4 nuclear receptor has been reported to play an important role in PCa progression, however, its linkage to the DTX resistance remains unclear. Here we found that TR4 was upregulated after DTX chemotherapy in the mCRPC cells and patients, and TR4 expression is correlated with DTX sensitivity with a higher level conferring chemo-resistance. Targeting TR4 with an antagonist bexarotene (Bex, a derivative of retinoid) suppressed the TR4 transactivation with increased DTX chemo-sensitivity. Mechanism dissection studies revealed that TR4 might alter the DTX chemo-sensitivity via modulating the TR4/lincRNA-p21/HIF-1α/VEGF-A signaling. Together, these results suggest that targeting this newly identified TR4/lincRNA-p21/HIF-1α/VEGF-A signaling with Bex, an FDA-approved drug, may increase the DTX chemo-sensitivity to better suppress the mCRPC progression.

The southeastern Tibetan Plateau, where monsoonal temperate glaciers are most developed, has a huge number of glacial lakes. Based on Landsat Operational Land Imager (OLI) images, 192 glacial lakes with a total area of 45.73 &plusmn, 6.18 km2 in 2016 were delineated in the Yi&rsquo, ong Zangbo River Basin. Glacial lakes with areas of less than 0.1 km2 accounted for 81.77% of the total number, and glacial lakes located above 4500 m elevation comprised 83.33%. Dramatic glacier melting caused by climate warming has occurred, resulting in the formation and expansion of glacial lakes and the increase of potential glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) risk. From 1970 to 2016, the total area of glaciers in the basin has decreased by 35.39%, whereas the number and total area of glacial lakes have, respectively, increased by 86 and 1.59 km2. In that time, 110 new glacial lakes emerged, whereas 24 of the original lakes disappeared. The newly formed lakes have a smaller mean area but higher mean elevation than the lakes that disappeared. Based on five indicators, a first-order method was used to identify glacial lakes that pose potential threats. We identified 10 lakes with very high, 7 with high, 31 with medium, and 19 with low GLOF susceptibility, out of 67 moraine-dammed glacial lakes with areas larger than 0.02 km2. Understanding the behavior of glaciers and glacial lakes is a vital aspect of GLOFs disaster management, and the monitoring of glacial lakes should be strengthened.

To induce hypospadias in male rat offspring by maternal exposure to di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) during late pregnancy and further investigate its mechanisms.We randomly divided 20 pregnant rats into a DBP exposure and a control group, the former treated intragastrically with DBP while the latter with soybean oil at 750 mg per kilogram of the body weight per day from gestation days (GD) 14 to 18. On postnatal day (PND) 1, we recorded the incidence rate of hypospadias and observed the histopathological changes in the genital tubercle of the hypospadiac rats. We also measured the level of serum testosterone (T) by radioimmunoassay and determined the mRNA and protein expressions of the androgen receptor (AR), sonic hedgehog (Shh), bone morphogenetic protein 4 (Bmp4) and fibroblast growth factor 8 (Fgf8) in the genital tubercle by real-time PCR and Western blot.No hypospadiac male rats were found in the control group. The incidence rate of hypospadias in male offspring was 43.6% in the DBP-treatment group. Histological analysis confirmed hypospadiac malformation. The serum testosterone concentration was decreased in the hypospadiac male rats as compared with the controls (［0.49 ± 0.05］ vs ［1.12 ± 0.05］ ng/ml, P0.05). The mRNA expressions of AR, Shh, Bmp4 and Fgf8 in the genital tubercle were significantly lower in the hypospadiac male rats than in the controls (AR: 0.50 ± 0.05 vs 1.00 ± 0.12, P0.05; Shh: 0.65 ± 0.07 vs 1.00 ± 0.15, P0.05; Bmp4: 0.42 ± 0.05 vs 1.00 ± 0.13, P0.05; Fgf8: 0.46 ± 0.04 vs 1.00 ± 0.12, P0.05), and so were their protein expressions (AR: 0.34 ± 0.05 vs 1.00 ± 0.09, P0.05; Shh: 0.51 ± 0.07 vs 1.00 ± 0.12, P0.05; Bmp4: 0.43 ± 0.05 vs 1.00 ± 0.11, P0.05; Fgf8: 0.57 ± 0.04 vs 1.00 ± 0.13, P0.05).Maternal exposure to DBP during late pregnancy can induce hypospadias in the male rat offspring. Renal artery aneurysm (RAA) is rare and its incidence in the general population remains elusive. There have been few reports on the repair of multiple aneurysms conducted with the Da Vinci robot-assisted surgical platform (Intuitive Surgical Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, USA), especially for those located in renal artery primary bifurcations.We report our experience in the surgical management of two expanding right-sided RAAs in a 64-year-old man using a robot-assisted laparoscopic approach. Two aneurysms were located in renal artery primary bifurcations, whose diameter was 1.8 and 1.2 cm. The aneurysms were resected and the renal artery branch reconstructed by in situ arteriorrhaphy. The operation lasted for 2 h and 35 min with a warm ischemia time of 26 min and estimated blood loss of 150 ml. The hospital stay was 6 days. The computed tomography (CT) scan performed 2 months after the surgery showed resolution of the aneurysms. Additionally, split renal function indicated the preservation of right renal function in the follow-up period.The robot-assisted laparoscopic procedure is a safe and effective surgical technique, which may be considered as an alternative to open surgery for complex multiple RAAs in the future.

Competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) are transcripts that can regulate each other at post-transcription level by competing for shared miRNAs. CeRNA networks link the function of protein-coding mRNAs with that of non-coding RNAs such as microRNA, long non-coding RNA, pseudogenic RNA and circular RNA. Given that any transcripts harbouring miRNA response element can theoretically function as ceRNAs, they may represent a widespread form of post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in both physiology and pathology. CeRNA activity is influenced by multiple factors such as the abundance and subcellular localisation of ceRNA components, binding affinity of miRNAs to their sponges, RNA editing, RNA secondary structures and RNA-binding proteins. Aberrations in these factors may deregulate ceRNA networks and thus lead to human diseases including cancer. In this review, we introduce the mechanisms and molecular bases of ceRNA networks, discuss their roles in the pathogenesis of cancer as well as methods of predicting and validating ceRNA interplay. At last, we discuss the limitations of current ceRNA theory, propose possible directions and envision the possibilities of ceRNAs as diagnostic biomarkers or therapeutic targets.

The Hei47 block, typical tectonic reservoir of the Daqingzi oil field, the west fault of which has great influences on distribution of the remaining oil. Basing on the foundation of 3D geological model of Hei47 block, using the black oil E100 of ECLIPSE software to build the numerical simulation, we found that the remaining oil distribute in the non－injection region，and the peak area is mainly near the west fault.By means of integration of 3D geological modeling and reservoir numerical simulation technology，we can forecast the results of different injection-production ratio and production speed, and choose the best reservoir development scheme. This can be fine guidances for oilfields to establish the potential solutions and improve the recovery ratio.

Renal oncocytoma (RO) can rarely present with a multilocular or tubulocystic growth pattern that may cause significant diagnostic difficulties with a variety of cystic renal cell carcinomas (RCC). Distinguishing these RO variants from their many RCC mimickers is critical because of its typical benign clinical course. Herein, we report a case of RO with extensive tubulocystic architectures on a 42-year-old female patient and discuss the clinicopathologic characterizations of this unusual RO variant with an emphasis on the wide spectrum of differential diagnoses of a variety of primary or secondary renal tumors that are featuring of both oncocytic cell changes and tubulocystic growth patterns.

HEF1 expression has not previously been reported in urinary bladder carcinoma, and little is known about its prognostic significance. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression patterns of HEF1 in urinary bladder carcinoma and to investigate its prognostic significance. HEF1 expression was analyzed by immunohistochemistry using tissue microarray. A significant relationship between HEF1 expression and sex, tumor size, number of tumors, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis was found, and high expression of HEF1 was associated with worse overall survival when compared to low expression of HEF1. Multivariate analysis showed that HEF1 expression was an independent prognostic factor for overall survival in urinary bladder carcinoma. We investigated HEF1 expression in urinary bladder carcinoma and found that high HEF1 expression was associated with advanced stage, large tumor size, and shortened progression-free survival. Although the biologic function of HEF1 in urinary bladder carcinoma remains unknown, the expression of HEF1 can provide new prognostic information for disease progression. Numerous epidemiological studies have evaluated the association between the NQO1 C609T polymorphism and the risk of prostate cancer. However, the results of these studies have been conflicting. The aim of this study was to provide a more precise estimation of its relationship with prostate cancer using a meta-analysis. Methods: Electronic searches of several databases were conducted for all publications on the association between the NQO1 C609T polymorphism and prostate cancer before May 2013. The odds ratio (OR) and its 95% confidence interval (CI) were used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of six studies with 717 cases and 1,794 controls were included. No significant association was found between the NQO1 C609T polymorphism and prostate cancer risk in the total population analysis. In subgroup meta-analysis by ethnicity, a positive association was found in an Asian subgroup (T versus C, OR 1.337, 95% CI 1.014–1.763, P=0.040; TT + CT versus CC, OR 1.419, 95% CI 1.053–1.913, P=0.021). However, no significant association in any genetic models was observed in Caucasians. Conclusion: This meta-analysis showed that the NQO1 SNP609 T allele might be a risk factor for prostate cancer in Asians. To determine the expression patterns and prognostic value of S100A4 and Annexin A2 for urothelial carcinoma of the urinary bladder.Immunohistochemical staining for S100A4 and Annexin A2 was performed in 315 archived radical cystectomies and 63 normal specimens. The immunoreactivity of these proteins was correlated to evaluate their clinical significance as prognostic factors.Protein levels of S100A4 and Annexin A2 were up-regulated in urothelial carcinoma compared with adjacent nontumor tissues. The increased expressions of S100A4 and Annexin A2 were associated with invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis (P0.05). High expression of S100A4 correlated with expression of Annexin A2. These alterations in expression were also associated with greater risk of disease progression and decreased chance of carcinoma-specific survival. Further multivariate analysis suggested that expressions of S100A4 and Annexin A2 were independent prognostic indicators for overall survival in urothelial carcinoma. The patients with S100A4-positive/Annexin A2-positive carcinomas presented the lowest 5-year survival rate compared with the other 3 groups.S100A4 and Annexin A2 proteins could be useful prognostic markers to predict tumor progression and prognosis in urothelial carcinoma. The expression patterns of S100A4/Annexin A2 interaction correlated well with the pathologic stage, disease progression, and carcinoma-specific survival. This finding could aid in identifying more biologically aggressive carcinomas and thus patients who might benefit from more intensive adjuvant therapy.

To study the expression and clinical significance of vaseular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in tissue of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC) and effects on tumor invasion and metastasis.The VEGF expression from 60 cases of PHC tissues, 30 cases of adjacent tissues and 30 cases of normal tissue were detected by SP immunohistochemical method.The VEGF positive rate of the PHC group was 68.3%, the adjacent tissues group was 40.0%, and the normal tissue group was 33.3%, compared the different was significant (P0.05); The VEGF positive rate of the incomplete capsule tissues was 92.9%, which was significantly higher than the complete capsule tissues (P0.05); and the VEGF positive rate was no significantly different among the different TNM stage, different degree of tumor differentiation and different lesion size (P0.05).The VEGF has high expression in PHC tissues. The VEGF expression has close relation with the whether tumor capsule and distant metastasis. The VEGF plays an important role angiogenesis of PHC, growth and metastasis.

In order to promot the development of solid biomass energy industry in China, this paper based on data of survey in 2009, used qualitative research methods on the sample area of solid biomass fuel industry and summed up problems and obstacles in the development of the solid biomass fuel industry. The results show that the industry is the rise of the industrial development phase and should be taken to rural areas surrounding the cities, technology development and government support three major means to promote its emergence and development.

Biomass resources have the characteristics of widespread and dispersed distribution, which have close relations to the environment, climate, soil, and land use, etc. Geographic information system (GIS) has the functions of spatial analysis and the flexibility of integrating with other application models and algorithms, being of predominance to the biomass energy source research. This paper summarized the researches on the GIS applications in biomass energy source research, with the focus in the feasibility study of bioenergy development, assessment of biomass resources amount and distribution, layout of biomass exploitation and utilization, evaluation of gaseous emission from biomass burning, and biomass energy information system. Three perspectives of GIS applications in biomass energy source research were proposed, i. e., to enrich the data source, to improve the capacity on data processing and decision-support, and to generate the online proposal.

To evaluate the feasibility and safety of transperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy in live-donors.Two cases of live-donor underwent laparoscopic nephrectomy in May and August 2008 respectively and both were followed up.In two cases the operation time was 130, 10 min; blood loss was 50 ml; warm ischemic time was 30 s and 2 min; the length of artery was 4.0 cm and 3.5 cm; the length of vein was 3.0 cm. The grafted kidneys started to produce urine at 30 s and 10 s after blood supply. Renal function of donor returned to normal after two days. The donors were discharged at 7th day after the operation. Renal function of recipient was normal after 3 days.Transperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy in live-donor is a safe and effective procedure, which provides kidney with satisfactory blood vessels and ureter for graft.

To evaluate the feasibility and short-term clinical effect of transperitoneal laparoscopic modified retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (LmRPLND) in the management of clinical Stage I nonseminomatous germ cell testicular tumors.From October 2004 to July 2006, 7 patients aged 26-36 (mean 30) years underwent LmRPLND with modified unilateral template dissection for clinical Stage I nonseminomatous germ cell testicular tumors, which were 3.0 cm x 2.5 cm x 2.0 cm to 6.5 cm x 4.5 cm x 3.0 cm in size, 3 cases on the left and 4 on the right, all diagnosed by ultrasound, computerized tomography (CT) and chest X-ray and confirmed by biopsy following radical orchiectomy. Those with positive lymph nodes received 3 courses of chemotherapy.Success was achieved in all the 7 cases, the operative time ranging from 120 to 210 min (mean 160 min), blood loss from 50 to 200 ml (mean 150 ml), and with no blood transfusion. The drainage tubes were removed 1-2 days after surgery. The mean postoperative hospital stay was 5.5 days. The follow-up lasted 6-32 (mean 14) months, which revealed normal erection and ejaculation in all the patients, but no major postoperative complications. Pathologically, lymph nodes were negative in 6 cases and positive (1/18) in 1. Normal results were obtained in HCG and AFP tests as well as in retroperitoneal ultrasound and chest X-ray examinations. The patient with positive lymph nodes was treated by adjuvant chemotherapy for 3 courses and found free of malignancy during a 6-month follow-up.LmRPLND is a safe and minimally invasive treatment option for patients with clinical Stage I nonseminomatous germ cell testicular carcinoma. With fewer complications and faster recovery, it appears to be a desirable substitute for the open procedure.

To investigate the clinic characteristics and efficacy of combined multi-disciplinary laparoscopic surgery.Combined laparoscopic surgery was performed in 46 gynecological patients who concomitantly had gastrointestinal and urinary tract diseases as study group, and single gynecologic laparoscopic surgery in 40 patients as control group. The complications and mean time of operations, bowel function restoration, and hospitalization length were observed.The surgery of every patient was successful. None of the cases was transferred to open laparotomy. No complications occurred. The mean time of operations was significantly increased in study group (127 +/- 91) min compared with control group (100 +/- 80) min (P0.05). The recovery time of bowel function, as well as the mean time of hospitalization was not different between study group (20 +/- 10) h, (3.7 +/- 1.5) d and control group (19 +/- 10) h, (3.5 +/- 1.3) d (both P0.05).Combined multi-disciplinary laparoscopic surgery can be performed safely and effectively for gynecological patients complicated with gastrointestinal or urinary tract diseases.

Primary synovial sarcoma of the prostate is an uncommon malignant tumor. There are few cases reported in the English medical literature to date. Here, we present a case of 22-year-old man with primary synovial sarcoma of the prostate metastatic to the liver and lung. To our knowledge, only six reports of synovial sarcoma involving the prostate have been previously published. We also reviewed the previous treatments and prognoses in previous case reports and evaluate the proper treatment for this disease.

Background Cyclin D1 (CCND1) is critical in the transition of the cell cycle from the G1 to S phases, and unbalanced cell cycle regulation is a hallmark of carcinogenesis. Numerous epidemiological studies have evaluated the association between the CCND1 A870G polymorphism and the risk of prostate cancer (PCa). However, these studies have yielded conflicting results. Methods In the present study, the possible association above was assessed by a meta-analysis. Eligible articles were identified for the period up to July 2014. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were appropriately derived from fixed effects or random effects models. Results A total of ten case-control studies, which included 3,820 cases and 3,825 controls, were identified. Overall, the allelic/genotypic association between the G870A polymorphism and prostate cancer was nonsignificant (OR = 1.045, 95% CI = 0.947 to 1.153 for A versus G, P = 0.380; OR = 1.088, 95% CI = 0.896 to 1.321 for AA versus GG, P = 0.393; OR = 1.044, 95% CI = 0.941 to 1.158 for GA versus GG, P = 0.414; OR = 1.053, 95% CI = 0.955 to 1.161 for the dominant model AA + GA versus GG, P = 0.303; OR = 1.072, 95% CI = 0.881 to 1.306 for the recessive model AA versus AA + GA, P = 0.486). Moreover, subgroup analyses according to ethnicity failed to demonstrate a significant association between this polymorphism and prostate cancer. In addition, we also performed a stratified analysis of cases with PCa metastasis, and the results supported the findings of no significant association between CCND1 A870G polymorphism and metastasis risk of PCa. Conclusions Our results suggest that the CCND1 A870G polymorphism might not be a potential candidate for predicting prostate cancer risk, including metastasis risk.
