International audience; We present the latest, updated, and fully corrected version of the Gaia Initial QSO Catalog (GIQC), produced by the CU3 GWP-S-335-13000. It contains 1 248 372 objects, of which 191 802 are considered and marked as Defining ones, because of their observational history and existence of spectroscopic redshift. Also objects with strong, calibrator-like radio emission are included in this category. The Defining objects represent a clean sample of quasars. The remaining objects aim to bring completeness to the GIQC at the time of its compilation. For the whole GIQC the average density is 30.3 sources per sq.deg., practically all sources have an indication of magnitude and of morphological indexes, and 90% of the sources have an indication of redshift and of variability indexes.

4 p.; International audience; PRAIA performs high precision differential photometry and astrometry on digitized images (CCD frames, Schmidt plate surveys, etc). The package main characteristics are automation, accuracy and processing speed. Written in FORTRAN 77, it can run in scripts and interact with any visualization and analysis software. PRAIA is in cope with the ever growing amount of observational data available from private and public sources, including data mining and next generation fast telescope all sky surveys, like SDSS, Pan-STARRS and others. PRAIA was officially assigned as the astrometric supporting tool for participants in the GAIA-FUNSSO activities and will be freely available for the astronomical community.

- Abstract
Context. In 2009, the Sun and the Earth passed through the equatorial plane of Jupiter and therefore the orbital planes of its main satellites. It was the equinox on Jupiter. This occurrence made mutual occultations and eclipses between the satellites possible. Experience has shown that the observations of such events provide accurate astrometric data able to bring new information on the dynamics of the Galilean satellites. Observations are made under the form of photometric measurements, but need to be made through the organization of a worldwide observation campaign maximizing the number and the quality of the data obtained. Aims. This work focuses on processing the complete database of photometric observations of the mutual occultations and eclipses of the Galilean satellites of Jupiter made during the international campaign in 2009. The final goal is to derive new accurate astrometric data. Methods. We used an accurate photometric model of mutual events adequate with the accuracy of the observation. Our original method was applied to derive astrometric data from photometric observations of mutual occultations and eclipses of the Galilean satellites of Jupiter. Results. We processed the 457 lightcurves obtained during the international campaign of photometric observations of the Galilean satellites of Jupiter in 2009. Compared with the theory, for successful observations, the r.m.s. of O-C residuals are equal to 45.8 mas and 81.1 mas in right ascension and declination, respectively; the mean O-C residuals are equal to -2 mas and -9 mas in right ascension and declination, respectively, for mutual occultations; and -6 mas and +1 mas in right ascension and declination, respectively, for mutual eclipses. © ESO, 2014.

[PHYS.ASTR]Physics [physics]/Astrophysics [astro-ph] - Abstract
International audience; Quasars are the choicest objects to define a quasi-inertial reference frame. At the same time they are active galactic nuclei powered by a massive black hole. As the astrometric precision approaches the limit set by the forthcoming GAIA mission, the astrometric stability can be investigated. Though the optical emission from the core region usually exceeds the other components by a factor of hundred, the variability of those components must surely imply in some measure of variability on the astrometric barycenter. To investigate the correlation between long term optical variability and what is dubbed as the random walk of the astrometric center, a program is being pursued at the WFI/ESO2.2m. A sample of quasars was selected by the large amplitude and long term optical variability. The observations are typically made every two months. The treatment is all differential, comparing the quasar position and brightness against a basket of selected stars for which the average relative distances and magnitudes remain constant. The provisional results for four objects bring strong support to the hypothesis of a degree of relationship between astrometric and photometric variability.

- Abstract
The large number and all-sky distribution of quasars from different surveys, along with their presence in large, deep astrometric catalogs, enables us to build of an optical materialization of the International Celestial Reference System (ICRS) following its defining principles. Namely: that it is kinematically non-rotating with respect to the ensemble of distant extragalactic objects; aligned with the mean equator and dynamical equinox of J2000; and realized by a list of adopted coordinates of extragalatic sources. Aims. The Large Quasar Reference Frame (LQRF) was built with the care of avoiding incorrect matches of its constituents quasars, homogenizing the astrometry from the different catalogs and lists in which the constituent quasars are gathered, and attaining a milli-arcsec global alignment with the International Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF), as well as typical individual source position accuracies higher than 100 milli-arcsec. The LQRF contains J2000 referred equatorial coordinates, and is complemented by redshift and photometry information from the LQAC. It is designed to be an astrometric frame, but it is also the basis for the GAIA mission initial quasars' list, and can be used as a test bench for quasars' space distribution and luminosity function studies. The LQRF is meant to be updated when new quasar identifications and newer versions of the astrometric frames used are realized. In the later case, it can itself be used to examine the relations between those frames., Published in Astronomy and Astrophysics, v505 n1 p385-404, Oct 2009. [PHYS.ASTR]Physics [physics]/Astrophysics [astro-ph] - Abstract
International audience; We have pursued in 2008 our observing program of stellar occultations by Pluto and its satellites. This program started in 2002, and revealed a two-fold increase of Pluto atmospheric pressure between 1988 and 2002. Various occultations observed in 2006 and 2007 did not reveal any further increase in pressure. Also, a measure of Charon's radius was made using an occultation observed on 11 July 2005.
