An illustrated broadside with text describing the rules and regulations for a poultry exhibition held in Boston's Public Garden September 7, 8, 9, and 10, 1852. A list of the award premiums is also printed. The text is surrounded by 25 wood-engravings, 22 of the engravings depict a variety of poultry and fowl. There is also an engraving of a poultry coop available for the exhibitors as well as two engravings of a chicken house and its floor plan., The New England Society for the Improvement of Domestic Poultry was established in 1849 to promote poultry breeding and to support chicken farmers. This broadside advertises the Society's second exhibition. Wood-engravings are by several well-known wood-engravers of the era: S. E. Brown, F. E. Worcester, Alonzo Hartwell, and H. Marsh. Several of the designs were created by F. A. Durivage. Printed names under "Rules and Regulations" are John C. Moore, Rc. Secretary, and Moses Kimball, President., Purchased with income from the Charles E. Mason Print Fund and the State Street Bank Print Fund; June 2014; #2014.14.
