This paper is trying to compress the history of software and by that to acknoledge the path it took forced by the demands created and consequences implied in it's evolution. The software industry has evolved exponentially in the last 10 years and will continue to do so. It's impact on the global ecconomy is significant. The implications and diversed applications have not only created unimaginible amount of new industries but even affected the way we think and its consequences influence political and decission making processes. As hardware becomes ubiquitous and commoditised, software is becoming ever more persuasive and invasive. Internet offers without a doubt unlimited possibilities in accessibility, for anyone and everyone to utilize which implies transparency and as consequence, total exposure which automatically will result in vulnerability. Software programs on which internet is based are therefore highly vulnerable to piracy. This article describes one particular method to protect these programs from unlawful infringement: encryption and variations thereof, the legal consequences and pro and cons of the different variants. Is obvious that the evolution in the development of protective measures for the software programs has made great strides toward garding the intellectual properties rights, however due to the major interests, ingenuity, and ever evolving techniques a continued alertness is required. Wood as a raw material is indispensable in various human activities. Its investigation is inexhaustible and its responsible valorization, in accordance with current requirements for re-use and subsequent re-integration, is a priority at national level. Rotational friction as an alternative method of joining wood elements or wooden structures has not been addressed in Romania until now, even if it has been under investigation during the past 15 years in the wood field. The paper presents an experimental investigation carried out in order to analyze by means of X-ray microphotography the process parameters in case of sessile oak wood (Quercus petraea L.) at the activation of lignin through rotational friction, with a view to using this method in furniture design as an alternative for classical (glued) joints. The results showed that at 1600rpm, oak wood (Quercus petraea L.) registered a more compact and uniform area of contact than at 1120rpm, on both wood sections. There is a significant difference between dowels with oblique and linear ribbed joints: the dowels with linear ribs lead to a more uniform density. The quality of the connection mainly depends on the rotation speed and the insertion speed. The overall conclusion of this experimental research is that sessile oak wood (Quercus petraea L.) can be used for adhesive-free joints for furniture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The wood obtained from forest thinning, with small dimensions (ϕ=14 cm), is today a potential raw material for furniture design. The main objective of the paper is to present the possibility of obtaining new structures by an innovative method of joining. Two species, a resinous one (spruce, Picea abies L.) and a broad-leaved one (maple, Acer platanoides L.) were selected for this research. The results have shown that the joints between dowels and support are uniform and compact, even if the structures combine two wood species with specific characteristics. The high lignin content of this raw material could be an advantage. The conclusion is that the newly proposed structures represent potential alternatives for the classical joints with adhesive. Lucrarea prezintă restaurarea unei măsuţe in consolă, o piesă de mobilier de o frumuseţe şi eleganţă aparte. Aceasta se încadrează în stilul rustic Tirolez Austriac. Măsuţa a fost realizată la Viena, cel mai probabil la mijlocul secolului XIX, fapt atestat şi de inscripţia parţial lizibilă aflată pe spatele plăcii superioare. Piesa, scoasă din uz şi păstrată în condiţii total improprii, se afla într-o stare de degradare avansată, cu multiple defecte ale suportului lemnos, furnirului şi finisajului. Intervenţii anterioare total neadecvate au condus la modificarea aspectului iniţial. Restaurarea de faţă a vizat readucerea obiectului într-o stare cât mai apropiată de cea iniţială, cu păstrarea unui maxim de elemente autentice, a informaţiilor de ordin istoric, precum şi conservarea sa prin tratamente adecvate de bioprotecţie. The paper presents the restoration of a side table, a furniture object of a special beauty and elegance. This belongs to the rustic Austrian Tyrolese style and was made in Wien, most probably in the second part of the XIX-th Century, as attested by a partially readable inscription found on the back of the table top. The table taken out of use and stored in totally inappropriate conditions was in an advanced degradation state, presenting a lot of defects of the solid wood substrate, of the surface veneer and finish. Inadequate earlier interventions led to a change of the original aspect. The present restoration aimed at bringing the object to a state as similar as possible to its original one, maintaining a maximum of the original elements and the historical information, as well as its conservation by adequate bio protection treatments.
