Viewed from a historical perspective, Chinese higher education can be traced back to the Zhou dynasty almost 2,500 years ago. With Emperor Wudi of the Han dynasty (140-88 BC) setting up academies, prototypes of higher education institutions came into shape. These institutions were close parallels to medieval universities in Europe. But the modern university system in the Western sense of the term was not endorsed and emulated in China until the early 1900s. As in the West, higher education in China has been in a state of flux. And with the nation’s radical economic and social restructuring its higher education has been undergoing tremendous changes with challenges of all descriptions. Among all the major challenges or issues this brief discussion has highlighted Kaokao, highly characteristic of Chinese higher education, and attempted to discuss it from theoretical and practical perspectives.

Mineral resource economics usually needs some calculating and analyzing work with a large amount of data of mineral resources stored in Excel files. Excel VBA provides a fast and easy way to finish the calculation work and create various charts to help analyzing work. In this paper, Excel VBA is instructed at first. Then based on the Excel VBA, some examples for calculating annual increment of mineral resources, creating batch charts from data and generating a comparing chart from resources data are illustrated in details. Finally, the conclusion that Excel VBA programming can save lots of time and reduce errors is made.

Wavelet multi-scale analysis is widely used in data processing of geophysics. It is able to help geophysicists to solve a lot of difficult problems in gravitational and magnetic survey. Its theoretical basis is illustrated at first. Multi-scale analysis and Mallat algorithm are introduced as follows. Three gravity models are designed and its wavelet multi-scale analysis results are discussed. Conclusions are made finally.

Magnetic survey is a geophysical method widely used in the mining industry. Its measuring data are often transferred to computers in the form of Excel files. In order to do further data processing conveniently, the data usually are preprocessed with VBA programs in Excel files. Excel VBA and data preprocessing of magnetic survey are introduced. Using VBA programs in Excel files to highlight anomalous measuring points and to insert information of missing points are illustrated. Excel VBA is useful for geophysicists to do some helpful works in magnetic survey.

Magnetic data are often recorded in text files by magnetometers. They are not easy to deal with, and they are often transferred and written into Excel files to further process. The aim of this paper is to discuss how to use Visual C# to do the transferring work. Development tools, key technologies and flow chart of the program edited by Visual C# are introduced. The main steps of transferring work are elaborated.

Ordinary Kriging method is a widely employed method for interpolating and estimating magnitude from digital magnetic data. The aim of this paper is to discuss application of ordinary Kriging method magnetic survey. Firstly principles of ordinary Kriging method and magnetic survey are introduced. Calculating steps of ordinary Kriging method are listed secondly. In the end, several examples of applications of the method in data processing of magnetic survey at one mine field are presented.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the design of one member information management system of one bookstore based on JSP. Firstly, the background of this system was introduced in this paper. Secondly, requirements analysis was illustrated. Thirdly, database design, system design, development tools and system implement were presented in details. A conclusion was made at the end of this paper.
