In the last few years, we have witnessed the spread of computing devices getting smaller and smaller (e.g., Smartphones, Smart Devices, Raspberry, etc.), and the production and availability of data getting bigger and bigger. This work presents DLV-EE, a framework based on Answer Set Programming (ASP) for performing declarative reasoning tasks over data-intensive, distributed applications. It relies on the DLV2 system and it features interoperability means for dealing with Big-Data over modern industry-level databases (relational and NoSQL). Furthermore, the work introduces DLV-IoT, an ASP system compatible with "mobile" technologies for enabling advanced reasoning capabilities on smart/IoT devices; eventually, DLV-EE and DLV-IoT via some real-world applications are illustrated as well. DLVis a powerful system for Knowledge Representation and Reasoning which supports Answer Set Programming (ASP) - a logic-based programming paradigm for solving problems in a fully declarative way. DLVis currently widely used in academy, and, importantly, it has been fruitfully employed in many relevant industrial applications. Similarly to the other main-stream ASP systems, while processing an input program, in a first phase of the computation DLVeliminates the variables, thus generating a ground program which is semantically equivalent to the original one, but significantly smaller than the Herbrand Instantiation, in general. This phase, called 'grounding', plays a key role for the successful deployment in real-world contexts. In this work we present I-DLV, a brand new version of the intelligent grounder of DLV. While relying on the solid theoretical foundations of its predecessor, it has been completely redesigned and re-engineered, both in algorithms and data structures; it nowfeatures full support to ASP-Core-2 standard language, increased flexibility and customizability, significantly improved performance, and an extensible design that eases the incorporation of language updates and optimization techniques. I-DLVresults in a stable and efficient ASP instantiator, that turns out to be a full-fledged deductive database system. The paper presents numerical simulation of safety test of the operator's protective structure of earth-moving machinery. It is connected with international code requirements according to design the protective structure of machines in the case of working environment with a danger of falling objects or situation of rolling-over. A method to interrogate changes in transfer matrices regarding damage localization is extended to cases where these changes cannot be experimentally obtained because the input is not known deterministically. The extension is realized by noting that the method does not require the transfer matrix change explicitly, but only vectors from its kernel, and that some of these vectors can be estimated—for a fictive collocated input distribution—from constraints between realization matrices and results of an output-only identification. This paper reports the synthesis and antiviral evaluation of a series of non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) that combine the peculiar structural features of diarylpyrimidine derivatives (DAPYs) and benzophenone derivatives (BPs). The DAPY derivatives bearing benzoyl or alkoxyl substitutes on the A-ring showed the inhibitory activity against wild-type HIV-1 at the cellular level within the range of EC50 values from micromolar to nanomolar. Among these compounds, 1u exhibited the most potent anti-HIV-1 activity (EC50 = 0.06 ± 0.01 μM, SI > 6260), which were about 1.8-fold more active than nevirapine (NVP) and delavirdine (DLV).
