In this lecture, I wish to speak about the faithless analyst. This is an analyst without fixed religious notions, without specific preferences with regard to religious faith and practice, without religious commitments or attachments of the kind that would influence the course of the analysis. Is this possible? Analysts like everyone else grow up in specific cultures that are deeply entangled with religious traditions. Can analysts shed this formation when they enter the consulting room? Should they? Values come with religious faith and practice. Should the analyst shed such religiously based values for the sake of absolute neutrality? I want to think about such faithlessness as an impossible ideal for analytical practice and how to work with failures to remain faithless in the presence of different faiths or the absence of faith among patients. La teologia è l'esposizione e la riflessione critica di una fede religiosa. È, pertanto, al servizio della fede, per aiutarla nei suoi scopi. Questi scopi, nel caso del cristianesimo, sono l'amore e la contemplazione. La teologia è di aiuto perché aiuta ad amare e a contemplare in modo più adeguato. Lo fa in quanto fornisce strumenti di conoscenza, di fondazione, di annuncio e di formazione. Nel contesto attuale, provocati dall'appello alla sinodalità, dobbiamo affrontare ripensamenti epistemologici strutturali affinché la teologia possa assolvere i propri compiti e aiutare la fede. Ne emergono in particolare tre. Il primo è l'invito a fare teologia in modo strutturalmente dialogico e transdisciplinare: un pensiero che non sia in contatto con altre discipline, altri saperi, altri pensieri, non aiuta a comprendere e ad amare. Il secondo è l'invito a fare teologia in modo plurale: abituarsi alla ricchezza e al peso della pluralità che vive fuori e dentro la chiesa, e trovare il modo di viverla. Il terzo, infine, è l'invito a porsi al servizio, senza farsi strumentalizzare, della fatica contemporanea dell'identità: la teologia cristiana potrebbe essere d'aiuto per tanti volti di nostri contemporanei in cerca d'autore, senza diventarne la maschera. El presente trabajo utiliza un método reflexivo donde se busca hacer una mejora de las condiciones de los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje a partir de la práctica personal y la utilización de la teoría. Es así cómo se abordan los programas intergeneracionales basados en la solidaridad y el diálogo como una herramienta de apoyo para un problema que cada día es más evidente en las aulas y que repercute en las dinámicas propias de clase, así como en el rendimiento escolar del alumnado y en su salud mental. Cada día las cifras respecto a problemas como depresión, ansiedad y suicidio en jóvenes aumentan. Por ello se propone un acercamiento teórico y exploración del contexto, mediante el abordaje de los ejes básicos de la práctica reflexiva: escenario profesional, experiencia personal y reflexión, visualizando la viabilidad de programas intergeneracionales propuestos por las autoras abordados como un prototipo crítico-reflexivo a partir del cual sin duda quedan varias acciones y líneas de investigación a trabajar para lograr en un futuro la validación y creación de estos. Tomando como caso de estudio la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez donde se buscó tener un primer acercamiento a través de una propuesta conceptual lo anteriormente mencionado. Con este acercamiento teórico y abordaje de múltiples lecturas y enfoques desde la solidaridad intergeneracional, el diálogo y los programas existentes en otras partes del mundo, la evidencia desde la teoría permite pensar que la propuesta, desarrollo y aplicación de estos saberes concede a los docentes posicionarse como agentes activos de transformación y formación.

Nel contesto del suo tempo l'atteggiamento di Francesco d'Assisi verso i musulmani risulta in gran parte innovativo, perché privo di aggressività e di polemica. Più volte egli tentò di andare nelle terre islamiche, la motivazione principale non pare fosse la ricerca del martirio, come affermato dalle fonti agiografiche, ma quella di portare il Vangelo senza imposizioni e di trovare un incontro, come risulta dal cap. XVI della Regola non bollata. Riuscì ad andare tra i musulmani una sola volta, nel 1219, quando arrivò a dialogare con il sultano d'Egitto Malik al-Kāmil durante la quinta crociata, fermandosi poi circa nove mesi in Oltremare. Qui poté rendersi conto di persona della vita, delle pratiche religiose e della fede dei musulmani. Ne fu influenzato? Difficile dirlo, ma alcune tracce si possono trovare nei suoi scritti: la Lettera ai rettori dei popoli e le Lodi di Dio altissimo, entrambe scritte dopo il suo soggiorno in Oltremare. Un esame lessicale legato alle citazioni di 1Pt 2,13 offre, infine, la suggestione che i musulmani sono per lui tra le creature del Signore, per le quali egli dà le lodi all'Altissimo nel suo Cantico delle creature. O texto explora a dinâmica do diálogo entre influenciadores digitais de moda e seguidores no Instagram, destacando a utilidade dessa relação no consumo de moda. Para os influenciadores, a interação é uma fonte de inspiração, evidenciada por feedbacks e engajamento dos seguidores. Os seguidores têm os influenciadores como referência de moda, especialmente em compras de moda acessível e réplicas, dada a disparidade econômica entre as classes brasileiras. A pesquisa, realizada por meio de netnografia, revela que o Instagram é a principal plataforma para essa interação, apesar de seus pontos fracos. Estratégias são implementadas para superar essas limitações, como o uso de outras plataformas, clubes de leitura e encontros presenciais. Para os influenciadores menores, o Instagram se assemelha a uma ferramenta de marketing de relacionamento, enquanto para os mega influenciadores é percebido como uma versão atualizada da televisão. O artigo chama a atenção para a importância de as marcas valorizarem influenciadores que saibam estabelecer diálogo com seus seguidores, uma vez que o diálogo é uma força vital na criação de significado e coesão na sociedade globalizada, e nem todos os influenciadores conseguem realizá-lo adequadamente.

Se analizan en este artículo las Conversaciones de Perico y Marica, publicadas de manera anónima en 1788, por su modelo conversacional dentro de la evolución del género dialogado. Se desarrolla durante el siglo XVIII un periodismo de opinión que propagaba las ideas ilustradas, cuyas implicaciones dependen de las respectivas convenciones de los géneros literarios utilizados, como ocurre en este modelo conversacional del diálogo dieciochesco.

Este artigo se propõe a apresentar a relação entre Mikhail Bakhtin e Viktor Frankl sobre o tema do ato responsável, com um breve aporte teórico acerca da temática. Inicia expondo se é possível um diálogo entre os dois pensadores, mesmo em áreas de conhecimento distintas, além disso, propõe quatro pontos fundamentais sobre o sentido do ato responsável, a partir da teoria Bakhtiniana, sendo eles: unicidade, responsividade, concreticidade e relacionalidade, num contraponto com o pensamento frankliano sobre o sentido da vida. Pode-se concluir que é possível a convergência do pensamento entre os dois teóricos e sua pertinência para a atualidade.

Dopo essere stata un fondamentale pedagogico, al centro di numerosi studi e ricerche, la categoria della cura oggi pare, invece, tornata ad essere quell’invisibile presenza, incapace – secondo l’attuale logica del profitto – di rispondere alle grandi sfide della società. Al contrario, proprio perché la cura in pedagogia è, innanzitutto, cura-della-formazione-umana dell’uomo, il contributo presenta una riflessione sull’attualità della pedagogia della cura, sia sul fronte teoretico che su quello pratico-riflessivo, in particolare rispetto all’agire educativo e didattico. Poiché l’esercizio della cura è connaturato alla pratica sociale, tra le esperienze di cura che sono fondamento della civiltà, vi è il dialogo. Questo si configura come la pratica per eccellenza di cura del sé, dell’altro e del pianeta, contribuendo alla formazione di quell’uomo planetario, capace di stare nello spazio dell’incontro, dove la comunicazione – nella sua forma dialogica, aperta e ironica – ridefinisce la forma mentis del soggetto verso un agire intenzionale, fondamentale alla costruzione di una società più democratica, critica e sostenibile.

O presente relato comunica experiências constituídas nos debates que ocorreram no “Fórum de estudos: leituras de Paulo Freire”, um evento itinerante que acontece no Rio Grande do Sul. Com periodicidade anual, ele se divide em círculos temáticos nos quais são discutidas questões pertinentes à educação das classes populares. Neste relato, discute-se a docência e os desafios dela, além das possibilidades existentes a partir de um viés popular. É preciso sensibilizarmo-nos de que a docência deve ser discutida de maneira crítica e radical a partir dos diferentes lugares ocupados pelos sujeitos. A universidade pode ser um desses locais, no momento em que efetiva a indissociabilidade entre ensino, pesquisa e extensão, de forma a criar espaços para que o diálogo, com as demandas, sobretudo das classes populares, aconteça, e que outros projetos de sociabilidade e formação humana sejam gestados.

This article exposes the need to decolonize and transdiciplinar ethnography, the main objective of the research is to propose a strong transdiscipline and decolonization from the intercultural paradigm as ethical components to redesign new ethnographic approaches, and to promote epistemic and cognitive justice in the social sciences. The methodological process included an exhaustive documentary review, through a database in web pages and academic and scientific search engines. A proposal for participation in the construction of knowledge with the other through encounter, understanding epistemic diversity, and embracing complexity is proposed. Being aware of the thought processes, promoting a new type of collective consciousness; allowing the development of heterodox and critical epistemes. Recognizing at the same level of validity the information and knowledge of western social sciences and indigenous cognition and episteme, and in general all human epistemology. The recent appearance and massive user adoption of ChatGPT and related technologies is rapidly turning AI from what to most people was once merely a distant concern based in theoretical speculation into one of the most pressing and significant developments we are facing as individuals and as a society. In order to better navigate the abrupt changes we are experiencing, we must consider the history and broader context of AI, as well as spur a dialogue that involves as wide an array of voices as possible. This special issue seeks to contribute by offering a platform to scholars in psychology and the social sciences from which to share their unique perspectives and reflections, so that they may enrich our understanding of this global, urgent and multi-faceted phenomenon. With the disruptive emergence of Artificial Intelligences in the production of knowledge, new questions arise about the role that these technologies should occupy within the different spheres through which the past is represented. This article examines ChatGPT's potential as a pedagogical tool for the development of historical thinking. For this purpose, we present the analysis of an interactive process around the historical event usually referred to as the Spanish Reconquista (711–1492). Through argumentative interventions, a dialogue is constructed in which the information provided by the AI is questioned, proving its ability to rectify and incorporate elements of historical thinking into its discourse. An ethical and multidisciplinary perspective is needed, which safeguards the responsible and beneficial use of these technologies in the construction and transmission of historical knowledge. Given that pedagogical activity is eminently discursive, this article seeks to provide conceptual elements that help to describe teachers' pedagogical discourse when teaching curricular contents. Working from the constructivist tradition and the cultural psychology approach, which uphold the social and cultural origin of human cognition, a discursive model is proposed that involves two dimensions: the dialogic-monologic and the narrative-paradigmatic. From the dialogic pole, teaching maintains the naturalness of a spontaneous conversation, intentionally including pedagogical elements that inquire into the students' comprehension of the information and promoting argumentation, participation and the extension of group discussion. From the narrative pole, teaching seeks to contextualize the thematic contents to help students to gain perspective and understand the course and intentionality of actions. Considering both perspectives of analysis, we propose a conceptual schema for studying the phenomenon of teaching in which we theoretically characterize the different types of pedagogical discourses that emerge when articulating these two dimensions. Este artigo se propõe a discutir conceitos basilares e específicos de duas subáreas linguísticas, a Análise do Discurso Pecheutiana e a Linguística Funcional Centrada no Uso, com o intuito de elucidar confluências entre as abordagens. A justificativa se pauta na importância de se discutir como a intersecção entre as duas correntes teóricas acontece e como esse diálogo pode contribuir para a descrição de fatos linguísticos. A discussão se concentra na análise de conceitos teóricos no campo da Análise do Discurso, como noção de língua(gem), sujeito, sentido, discurso, ideologia, história e esquecimento mobilizados por autores como Orlandi (2012 [1999]; 2002) e Pêcheux (1990; 1995 [1975]), e como os conceitos de língua(gem), sujeito/falante, sentido, conhecimento linguístico, processos cognitivos e construção podem ser compreendidos no âmbito da Linguística Funcional Centrada no Uso, a partir de Bybee (2016 [2010]) e Traugott e Trousdale (2021 [2013]). Ademais, tais conceitos serão aplicados ao analisar ocorrências de três construções intensificadoras, a saber pra caralho, morri de e pra burro, para fins de tateamento teórico-analítico com o propósito de atestar a contribuição do diálogo das subáreas. Assim, através da presente investigação, constata-se que, apesar de as bases epistemológicas apresentarem conceitos específicos, alguns diálogos são possíveis, já que ambas valorizam a análise de textos reais e a língua em uso.

Resumo Este trabalho busca desenvolver o conceito de formagir amparado no conceito de diálogo como base para a ética e a política da libertação na perspectiva de Freire. O objetivo é conceituar o formagir, para pensar uma educação dialógica, problematizadora, democrática e libertadora, recriando o conceito de quefazer de Freire. A metodologia é de caráter bibliográfico, numa perspectiva filosófica de análise dos conceitos, reconstruindo-os com base nas obras de Freire. Como resultado, o conceito de formagir conota a práxis libertadora, como processo de ser mais na busca do que não se é, rompendo com o ser opressor. O formagir dialógico permite pensar a ética e a política da educação como libertação e crescimento do modo de vida democrático.

Esta colaboración propone una reflexión sobre la pastoralidad de la teología en nueve pasos. La teología se desarrolla como inteligencia sapiencial de la fe entre la recepción teologal de la Palabra de Dios y su comunicación evangelizadora en el Pueblo de Dios (1). La dimensión pastoral puede ser pensada como un aspecto de la dimensión práctica de toda la teología, que complementa su dimensión teórica (2). La comunicación pastoral de la teología es una función del teólogo sistemático (3) y una operación que consuma el método teológico (4). En la historia contemporánea y en diálogo con el relieve moderno dado a la praxis, el Concilio Vaticano II resalta la pastoralidad de la Iglesia y de su enseñanza, sobre todo en la Constitución pastoral Gaudium et spes (5). En continuidad con la novedad conciliar se distingue la dimensión o perspectiva pastoral constitutiva de toda teología, como atestiguan teólogos contemporáneos, en especial algunos pensadores latinoamericanos (6). En ese marco se ubica y desarrolla la teología pastoral, que es una disciplina específica de la única ciencia teológica (7). En su Exhortación programática Evangelii gaudium Francisco da el marco de pastoralidad fundamental que anima la salida misionera de la Iglesia, en la cual se sitúa el servicio evangelizador de la teología (8). Luego, en la Constitución apostólica Veritatis gaudium, subraya su vertiente kerigmática (9).

Nos proponemos exponer las participaciones de los obispos argentinos en el decurso de las reflexiones sobre el esquema conciliar La Iglesia en el mundo contemporáneo. Intervinieron con 31 aportes en temas que captaron su preocupación pastoral, entre ellos, la importancia de los tópicos que contenía el texto, el ateísmo comunista, los destinatarios y el lenguaje redaccional del esquema, la solidaridad con los pobres, el diálogo con el mundo, la naturaleza y la actividad de la persona humana, el matrimonio y la guerra y la paz. Sabiendo que la constitución conciliar tuvo un esmerado y extenso tratamiento en los temas abordados, reflexionaremos las intervenciones de los obispos siguiendo la secuencia cronológica e indicando alguna trama breve de las deliberaciones que se diseñaban en el aula conciliar. Finalmente esbozaremos algunas conclusiones vinculadas a los tópicos que estudiamos.

RESUMO: Este paper resulta de uma pesquisa qualitativa baseada em crítica bibliográfica. O texto objetiva trazer contribuições para a comunidade acadêmica e o público em geral, no intuito de melhor esclarecer a figura do Cardeal Sebastião Leme, um dos mais importantes nomes da Igreja Católica brasileira em todos os tempos, e o principal, nas primeiras décadas do século XX. Essas reflexões têm como fio condutor as relações difíceis entre o Catolicismo e a Modernidade através dos séculos. Essa oposição deixa suas marcas nas palavras e obras do prelado. Graças ao trabalho dedicado de Dom Leme, do ponto de vista organizacional e estrutural, a Igreja avançará. Todavia, apesar de suas qualidades e do papel relevante desempenhado por ele, o clérigo se mostrou incapaz de trazer o novo tão necessário à Igreja. The text aims to bring contributions to the academic community and the general public in order to better clarify the figure of Cardinal Sebastião Leme, one of the most important names of the Brazilian Catholic Church in all times, and the main one, in the first decades of the century XX. These reflections have as a guiding thread the difficult relations between Catholicism and Modernity through the centuries. This opposition leaves its mark on the words and works of the prelate. Thanks to the dedicated work of Dom Leme, from an organizational and structural point of view, the Church will advance. However, in spite of his qualities and the relevant role played by him, the clergyman proved incapable of bringing the much needed new to the Church. Resumo: A Tradição filosófica testemunha a relevância do diálogo no movimento do pensamento filosófico. De um lado, é necessária à escuta da produção filosófica na história da filosofia e, do outro lado, para avançar na produção da criação de novos conceitos filosóficos. O presente artigo tem como principal objeto fomentar uma discussão acerca da importância do ensino de filosofia para estudantes no ensino médio. Os principais autores utilizados que ressaltam a importância do ensino de filosofia para estudantes do Ensino Médio são: Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955) e Sílvio Gallo (nascido em 1963). Para Ortega y Gasset, o ensino de filosofia consiste mesmo em tomar a atividade filosófica mesma, o filosofar mesmo, e submetê-lo radicalmente a uma análise filosófica (1971) com o método em círculos concêntricos. Para Sílvio Gallo, a filosofia é a experiência essencialmente do pensamento, que nos permite equacionar um problema; e a aula de filosofia deverá oportunizar ao estudante a experiência da produção do pensamento conceitual. Martin Buber, na sua filosofia do diálogo, assegura que o ser humano pode estabelecer diálogo com três esferas da relação distintas: com a natureza, com os seres humanos e com os seres espirituais; nesta última, se enquadra o diálogo com Deus, o Tu Eterno. Já o Papa Francisco, na encíclica Laudato Si’, enfatiza que o ser humano pode estabelecer diálogo com a terra, com os seres humanos e com Deus, o Tu Divino. Assim, o presente artigo visa estabelecer conexões entre o pensamento do filósofo Martin Buber no que toca à terceira esfera da relação que é a do diálogo com os seres espirituais e com Deus e o pensamento do Papa Francisco sobre o diálogo com Deus, o Tu Divino.

La educación superior y, en general, la educación en Colombia, Latinoamérica y el mundo se definen en la actualidad desde visiones con un énfasis administrativo y financiero en ausencia de perspectivas humanistas y pedagógicas. Esto conlleva un riesgo: convertir la educación en un producto que se vende y no en un servicio que se ofrece. Claramente, la educación es un elemento que aporta al PIB de las naciones, pero, de un modo paradójico, no aporta en la medida esperada a la prosperidad humana, a la calidad de vida y al bienestar general. Es en este terreno de intereses e incertidumbres constantes en el cual el maestro y la propia educación concretan su responsabilidad ética. Este análisis es producto de dos investigaciones con enfoque cualitativo y un alcance hermenéutico, en las que se usaron técnicas de recolección de información como la entrevista, la observación y los grupos focales. El objetivo central del estudio fue reflexionar acerca de lo que llamamos la ética del maestro y su relación con el diálogo, la criticidad y la creatividad, entendidos como valores constituyentes del maestro que proveen herramientas éticas, políticas y estéticas para enfrentar realidades que se configuran en la duda y la contingencia permanentes.

O artigo apresenta de forma detalhada a metodologia de implementação da política de curricularização da extensão nos cursos de graduação do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia Sul-rio-grandense. Em uma perspectiva freireana, o artigo denuncia os desafios e especificidades vivenciados no processo de curricularização da extensão, assim como anuncia uma reflexão teórica e prática de possíveis caminhos e estratégias para a efetivação da curricularização nos cursos de graduação da Instituição. Evidencia a importância da curricularização da extensão, que além de uma obrigatoriedade, represente uma oportunidade de ressignificar o fazer acadêmico, aproximando o contexto real dos componentes curriculares, trazendo novos sentidos e significados, tanto para os/as estudantes quanto para nós educadores e educadoras, qualificando as reflexões e as práticas, estabelecendo uma nova relação de reconhecimento. Este estudo de caráter qualitativo é parte de uma dissertação de mestrado e para a construção do corpus de análise realizou entrevistas semiestruturadas com nove servidores/as que compõem a comissão central responsável pelo planejamento da implementação da curricularização da extensão no Instituto Federal Sul-rio-grandense. Em diálogo com os/as participantes da comissão pudemos compreender a metodologia escolhida e construir anúncios que possam auxiliar a efetivação de uma curricularização verdadeiramente transformadora, afirmando a importância dessa política para formação dos/as estudantes, que são os/as protagonistas da curricularização da extensão, e a construção de uma educação sensível, colaborando com uma formação crítica e ampla de todos/as os/as envolvidos/as nessa práxis.

L’articolo presenta la concezione dialogica della fede e della ragione cristiana nell’opera di Joseph Ratzinger - Benedetto XVI. Il teologo tedesco si impegna nel dibattito in corso nella Germania del ventesimo secolo sul ruolo della filosofia nel discorso teologico e presenta la sua concezione sulla base di una sintesi classica del pensiero greco e del messaggio biblico nel cristianesimo antico e medievale. Una concezione cristologica della verità e una comprensione relazionale della persona dell’uomo e della sua ragione permettono di superare il rapporto dualistico tra fede e ragione e offre prospettive ancora valide per un dialogo per un dialogo reciproco tra teologia e filosofia.

The paper aims to propose the first results of a quantitative survey on the dialogue-form in the Italian Renaissance. Among the characteristics of this writing and argumentative practice, spread especially between the sixteenth and sixteenth centuries, there is in fact the vast print production. A macroscopic vision of this phenomenon allows, through a quantitative and qualitative investigation at the same time, to evaluate generic trends, to study publishing practices related to the dissemination of knowledge and, finally, to grasp with greater precision the moments of historical evolution of this form of writing.

The article intends to present, in a primarily descriptive way, the fundamental features of the rich and varied itinerary - although bumpy and not always linear - of the reception of the conciliar decree on ecumenism Unitatis redintegratio, in the various articulations of catholicity. The post-conciliar time is divided into four stages: the first post-Council period and the expectation of an ecumenical spring; John Paul II and the season of popular ecumenism; ecumenism in the clash of civilizations storm; Pope Francis and the ecumenism of the polyhedron and of walking together. What is implied in this article is that, more than one hundred years after the start of the ecumenical movement, for today's Christians, who are immersed in the culture of post-modernity, dialogue between the churches should not be one option among many, to be pursued or not depending on the seasons, but the common form of being Christian today. The ongoing formation of presbyters stands out among the urgencies in the current ecclesial season. The a. intends to deepen the role that the theological formation can assume in the broader context of ongoing formation paths. To reach this goal, after having clarified the general horizon of reference, at the theological and ecclesial level, the main hermeneutical perspective is taken as that of the conversion in a missionary sense of the whole life of the Church, inspired by Evangelii gaudium. The words ‘education’ and ‘formation’ are close, but different in meaning. Education responds to a specific disciplinary knowledge within a structure or system of its own, while formation contributes to the human from domains that are not necessarily systematic. This article has as its starting point the hypothesis that formation is an effect that can only be conceived a posteriori; this hypothesis will serve as an incentive to propose a reading of Plato’s Meno that succeeds to demonstrate some conditions of the dialogue that make possible the formative effect. First, some presuppositions will be exposed to understand the hypothesis; then, two conditions will be established that make the formative process possible: λόγος and mentoring (each of these conditions will have a division that will make them explicit); finally, it will be determined, by means of a chart, whether or not a formative effect has occurred on the characters of the dialogue. This report communicates experiences constituted in the debates that took place in the study forums: readings by Paulo Freire, an itinerant event that takes place in Rio Grande do Sul. The event that takes place annually is divided into thematic circles in which issues pertinent to the education of children from the working class are discussed. This report discusses teaching and its challenges, but also its possibilities from a popular perspective. We need to be aware that teaching must be discussed critically and radically from the different places that the subjects occupy. The university can be one of these places when it implements the inseparability between teaching, research, and extension, creating spaces for dialogue of demands, especially from the working class, to be made and for other projects of sociability and human formation to be managed. Fratelli Tutti, an encyclical written by Pope Francis, addresses the themes of fraternity and social friendship, emphasizing the need to recognize, to value and to love all people, regardless of the physical proximity or the place where they were born or live. Individualism, however, is approached as one of the main challenges of contemporary neoliberal society. By reflecting on this issue and its implications for the common good, this article seeks to situate education as a form of overcoming selfish indifference. Based on Charlot (2020), Laval and Vergne (2023) and Benincá (2010), the dialogical education is defended as an essential element for promoting a culture of encounter and a sense of brotherhood. John Joseph of Austria, the illegitimate child of Philip IV, is one of the most interesting historical fiigures of late 17th century Spain. The prince used literature as a powerful political weapon to attack his enemies and to defend himself from the pamphlets written against him His successor as prime minister was his political enemy, the Duke of Medinaceli, who also suffered from similarly weaponized political rhetoric. The Junta de vivos y muertos is a prime example of political satire of the latter half of the 17th century. In this pamphlet, the enemies of Medinaceli criticize his lineage, his economic measures, and his international policies, all the while defending the government of John Joseph of Austria.
