La gestione dell’accoglienza in tempi di coronavirus ha risentito del clima di generale spaesamento che si è registrato nell’intero paese, aggravando le criticità già esistenti e impegnando gli assistenti sociali con una tempistica che stravolge i ritmi naturali di lavoro. Immediatezza e improcrastinabilità degli interventi, difficoltà di contatto con i servizi del territorio, crescita esponenziale delle situazioni di emergenza emotiva e psicologica, coinvolgimento della sfera e dei tempi privati del professionista, inadeguatezza dei protocolli ordinari e altro ancora. Condizioni che hanno messo e mettono a dura prova l’essenza stessa di una professione che, invece, si fonda sull’empatia, sulla prossimità, sull’incontro, soprattutto a livello micro, richiedendo un continuo riallineamento del metodo e degli strumenti per rispettare le norme di distanziamento fisico. Il nodo delle criticità strutturali è stato il punto di partenza di una ricerca che ha voluto approfondire le criticità sperimentate dagli assistenti sociali in servizio nei centri e nelle comunità di accoglienza. The management of reception in times of coronavirus has been affected by the climate of general disorientation that has been recorded throughout the country, worsening the already existing criticalities and committing social workers with a timing that disrupts the natural rhythms of work. The immediacy and impracticality of interventions, the difficulty of contact with local services, the exponential growth of emotional and psychological emergencies, the involvement of the professional's private sphere and time, the inadequacy of ordinary protocols and much more. These conditions have put and continue to put a strain on the very essence of a profession that is based on empathy, proximity, and encounter, especially at the micro level, requiring a continuous realignment of the method and tools to comply with the rules of physical distance. The issue of structural criticalities was the starting point of a research that wanted to deepen the criticalities experienced by social workers in service in reception centres and communities.

Il servizio sociale è una professione che si declina attraverso le sue determinanti relazionali e che tende ad operare in termini di mediazione. Tra le caratteristiche specifiche della professione vi è la potenzialità di rappresentare, per le persone che vi ricorrono, tanto un porto, nel senso di rifugio, quanto un ponte, nel senso di collegamento. Come per i ponti e porti reali, la professione del servizio sociale deve costantemente e attentamente essere oggetto di “manutenzione", per far sì che le competenze dei professionisti rendano possibile un sostanziale riorientamento dei modi di intendere e configurare i rapporti di aiuto e di promozione umana.

L’approdo e la presenza dei minori stranieri non accompagnati (da qui MSNA) nel territorio italiano continua a sollecitare una profonda riflessione sugli strumenti utilizzati per la loro formazione di base e professionale. Frequentare la scuola per i MSNA significa, di fatto, avere accesso ad una esperienza indispensabile per il successivo percorso di inclusione, formale e informale. Da un lato, infatti, il conseguimento del certificato di conoscenza della lingua italiana di livello A2 è essenziale per il rilascio del permesso di soggiorno UE e, d’altro canto, l’apprendimento della lingua italiana concorre a rafforzare il processo di definizione della propria identità all’interno del contesto di accoglienza e a ricucire la «lacerazione culturale» subita da questi giovani (Bichi, 2008), oltre ad aiutarli a superare lo stato di «provvisorietà» (Sayad, 2002) sul piano relazionale, affettivo e culturale. La Sicilia, regione fortemente implicata nell’accoglienza dei MSNA, offre la possibilità di un’analisi su tali esperienze scolastiche: è qui, infatti, che risultano ospitati il 38% dei MSNA accolti in Italia (dati al 31/12/2018, in Greco, Tumminelli, 2019, p. 40). Circa un terzo dei MSNA presenti in Sicilia frequenta percorsi scolastici (Di Rosa et al., 2019, p. 52) presso i CPIA, cioè i Centri Provinciali per l’Istruzione degli Adulti, corsi con orari pomeridiani e serali per l’ottenimento di licenza media e diploma, che, di conseguenza, diventano oggi un luogo significativo, un «soggetto culturale e presidio educativo nel territorio» (Floreancig, 2018, p. 15).

Knowledge about the language of the country of arrival or living, is the basic for the access to citizenship rights and social rights. Knowledge of language becomes an instrument with which to decipher the surrounding reality, translating the grammar from the field to democracy. Equality also passes through the possession of the word.Starting from the hypothesis that exists a strong link between Italian language speaking, listening, comprehension capacities and in general multilingual skills and the social inclusion of young migrants, the research aims to explore two dimensions of the Life Project of Uams. The research analyses the attendance in CPIAS (Italian language teaching and learning) and the integration in the reception system, together with the interconnection between them and their interaction that characterize social inclusion perspectives of Uams. The main objective is to analyze Uams educational needs, language (illiterates, but multilingual), digital or job skills, social and family conditions both in their country of origin and in Italy in order to define UAMs socio-linguistic profile. Moreover, a goal of the research plan is to find out potential paths to base an adequate educational offer, with attention to LESLLA (Low Educated Second Language and Literacy Acquisition.

In the last ten years, Mediterranean sea, seen from the island of Sicily has been a big scenery for the arrival of thousands of people from Africa, in particular from the area of Maghreb (Egypt, Tunisia, etc) and also from the Sub-Saharian area such as Gambia, Guinea, Mali and so on. In particular, Sicily has been and it continues to be a big harbor where people arrive, crossing the Mediterranean and even risking death. So, many Ong’s have met people from whatever age, whatever socio-economic condition, gender and so on who have passed through the Island. The plan of research focuses on the trip of the unaccompanied minors arriving to Sicily: in fact, analyzing the migratory phenomena which have historically characterized the Mediterranean since antiquity to modern era, it can be possible to underlying the exceptional case of minors migrating and leaving from their countries of origin.

El fenómeno de los MENA está en continuo crecimiento y que es de carácter permanente. Los servicios presentes en el territorio, constantemente tuvieron que responder esencialmente a situaciones de continua emergencia, más que a promover verdaderas intervenciones programáticas. Esto ha terminado por favorecer una metodología de acción que constantemente presenta el riesgo de basarse en presupuestos radicales y poco atentos a la realidad global: de hecho, se continúa a considerar al niño/a extranjero/a como un sujeto de por sí portador de un fuerte malestar, incluso como un sujeto que no necesita de alguna intervención específica. Entre las criticidades de mayor relevancia, existe el problema de la integración entre políticas e intervenciones. Los modelos están aún muy fragmentados y seccionados, los dispositivos de apoyo social no se insertan con aquellos educativos, comunican en modo parcial y como tales, producen solo soluciones fragmentadas. Solo un cambio radical de la organización de los servicios de acogida puede verdaderamente permitir de abandonar la óptica de la emergencia con la que se ha afrontado el fenómeno hasta ahora. Lo que necesita hoy es un proceso de asunción de una responsabilidad integral, que convierta en seriamente eficaces las normas nacionales e internacionales sobre la tutela de los derechos de estos menores, afrontando contemporáneamente el “cargo” de los sistemas locales de acogida.

A 30-year-old woman affected by Mixed Connective Tissue Disease with scleroderma spectrum developed a facial eruption, a clinical and histological characteristic of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE). Speckled anti-nuclear antibodies, high-titer anti-ribonucleoprotein1, anti-Sm, anti-Cardiolipin (aCL) IgG/IgM, and anti-Ro/SSA antibodies were positive. SCLE was resistant to Azathioprine, Hydroxychloroquine, and Methotrexate while Mycophenolate Mofetil was suspended due to side effects. Subsequently, the patient was treated with three cycles of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) followed, one month after the last TPE, by the anti-CD20 antibody Rituximab (RTX) (375 mg/m2 weekly for 4 weeks). Eight and 16 months later the patient received other two TPE and RTX cycles, respectively. This therapeutic approach has allowed to obtain a complete skin healing persistent even after 8-month follow-up. Moreover, mitigation of Raynaud's phenomenon, resolution of alopecia, and a decline of aCL IgG/IgM and anti-Ro/SSA antibodies were observed.

The salient features of Tanzanian migration are depicted through an overview of the national history. It appears that there are major differences, also in comparison with other developing countries. There are little migratory flows towards the Western world; however, internal displacement is a prominent phenomenon, as a consequence of internal political turmoil in the country. Besides the specificity of each historical periods (colonialist and socialist rule; opening to the market economy), there appears to be some common aspects regarding Tanzanian migration: the phenomenon appears to be mainly an internal forced displacement, either imposed by the Government or by the need to survive in the lack of basic conditions. Furthermore, there is a reciprocal dynamics of cause/effect in the ever-changing social system. Many aspects of the social life (traditional rural economy, the division of labour along gender lines, the distribution of "power" and responsibilities within the family, education and emancipation of the new generations) have been modified by migratory movements, which have therefore contributed to the spreading of new lifestyles.

We are carrying on a trial with subcutaneous injections of thymopentin in a group of patients that presented more than 2 infectious episodes of uro-genital tract in the latest 18 months. Microbiological investigations were performed with microscopic and cultural examinations before and after six weeks of treatment with thymopentin (TP5) associated with antibiotic therapy chosen on the basis of cultural response. The follow-up was prolonged to 6 months. The immunological studies were performed at the same moments, by a panel of monoclonal antibodies and by the evaluation of the NK activity and granulocytic phagocytosis. The cellular immunity was studied by skin tests. In our patients, during the follow-up period, we observed a significant reduction of infectious episodes, an increase of NK activity, and a restoration of cellular immunity in hypoergic subjects.

In a 1-year multicenter study the microbial colonization of 1154 central venous catheters (CVCs) was investigated. Catheters explanted either from immunocompromised or immunocompetent patients were collected and analyzed by five clinical microbiology laboratories located in Ancona, Aviano, Catania, Pavia and Rome, Italy.A further aim was to investigate, by scanning electron microscopy, the features of currently used catheters, both new and explanted from patients, analyzing their surface quality, the influence of the host protein biofilm on their microbial colonization, the modifications caused by their permanence in the body and the relationship between these factors and the occurrence of infections.

An immunological study has been performed in a group of 14 patients suffering from recurring vaginal candidiasis. Cellular immunity has been evaluated by skin test. Mononuclear cells of peripheral blood have been studied by a panel of monoclonal antibodies. Moreover granulocytes phagocytosis and NK activity have been determined. We observed a significant reduction of cellular immunity and phagocytosis comparing to the control group. This association may represent the basis of a compromised immunological response in patients with recurring vaginal candidiasis.

Sono i risultati di un'indagine di servizio sociale tesa a rilevare le modalità di intervento intese sotto forma di "mediazione"

Italy experienced the transition from a country of emigration to a country of immigration only in the last decade of the 20th century. The extreme heterogeneity of the Italian scene – from the distribution and variety of productive sectors and local economic dimensions, to the geographical, cultural and linguistic varieties – results in an incredibly differentiated background on which the phenomenon of migrations fits as multiplier of diversity. But there are some particular fields in Italy where the challenges of superdiversity appear to be more prominent: the impact on the school system, in terms of linguistic-cultural pluralism; the change in religious belonging and identities; the dynamics of cohesion/marginality in everyday life; and the relationship between spaces and identities in a superdiverse context. L’Italie n’a connu la transition de pays d’émigration à pays d’immigration que dans la dernière décennie du XXe siècle. L’extrême hétérogénéité de la scène italienne -de la distribution et de la variété des secteurs productifs et des dimensions économiques locales aux variétés géographiques, culturelles et linguistiques- se traduit par un contexte incroyablement différencié sur lequel le phénomène des migrations s’inscrit comme multiplicateur de diversité. Mais il y a des domaines particuliers en Italie où les défis de la super diversité semblent être plus importants: l’impact sur le système scolaire, en termes de pluralisme linguistique-culturel; le changement de l’appartenance et des identités religieuses; la dynamique de la cohésion/marginalité dans la vie quotidienne; et la relation entre les espaces et les identités dans un contexte de super diversité. Italia experimentó la transición de país de emigración a país de inmigración sólo en la última década del siglo XX. La extrema heterogeneidad del panorama italiano -desde la distribución y variedad de sectores productivos y dimensiones económicas locales, hasta las variedades geográficas, culturales y lingüísticas- da lugar a un fondo increíblemente diferenciado en el que encaja el fenómeno de las migraciones como multiplicador de la diversidad. Pero hay algunos ámbitos particulares en Italia en los que los retos de la superdiversidad parecen ser más destacados: el impacto en el sistema escolar, en términos de pluralismo lingüístico-cultural; el cambio en la pertenencia e identidades religiosas; la dinámica de cohesión/marginalidad en la vida cotidiana; y la relación entre espacios e identidades en un contexto superdiverso.

Il genere rientra tra gli interrogativi cognitivi ancora secondari nella ricerca di servizio sociale. Si osserva, difatti, che gli studiosi che si sono dedicati all’approfondimento della questione genere/servizio sociale nel mondo occidentale sono un numero abbastanza ridotto e che gli stessi siano tra loro concordi sul fatto che questo tema sia stato molto trascurato tanto nei loro Paesi quanto in ambito internazionale. Il tema del genere è, e resta, una questione aperta, che merita maggiore attenzione da parte della comunità professionale, nell’ottica di giungere finalmente ad acquisirne maggiore coscienza, già a partire dalla formazione accademica dei futuri professionisti. Se gli assistenti sociali venissero studiati (e si percepissero) come gendered subjects, potrebbe attivarsi una diversa e maggiore attenzione al fenomeno e un approccio critico che permetterebbe di valutare quanto il genere influisca sulla professione, consentendo una consapevolezza capace di superare le persistenti disuguaglianze, rendendo visibili le gerarchie di genere e sottoponendole a dibattito pubblico.

Human smuggling and human trafficking are, from a normative point of view, strictly separated but frequently, at a criminological level, they overlap in a tangled-up situation in which it is not easy to separate them. This gap could have serious consequences in the fight against the criminal phenomena. In this brief contribution, I will try to show the extent of this gap and its consequences. Firstly, I will focus on the normative approach on HS and HT. Secondly, I will give a brief criminal outline of the two phenomena. Finally, I will try to underline the inadequacy of the dominating normative point of view.

L’apprendimento dell’italiano per i minori stranieri non accompagnati procede a passi relativamente rapidi anche se i ragazzi intervistati hanno una scarsa scolarità. L’età relativamente giovane, insieme a una esperienza di vita del tutto particolare, che li ha fatti crescere forzosamente, deve avere reso questi ragazzi particolarmente ricettivi nei confronti dell’apprendimento della lingua. D’altra parte, essa si presenta, ai loro occhi, come la porta principale di accesso a una condizione di vita che non può che essere migliore di quella che hanno lasciato e che, in ogni caso, offre loro la convinzione di avere più prospettive di vita e di riuscita di quelle che hanno lasciato nel paese di origine. Questa condizione dovrebbe indurre a prestare, sul piano delle policy, maggiore attenzione al ruolo di integrazione che può essere svolto da istituzioni deputate all’insegnamento dell’italiano, quali sono i CPIA. The learning of Italian for unaccompanied foreign minors proceeds at relatively rapid steps even if the children interviewed have poor schooling. The relatively young age, together with a very special life experience, which forced them to grow up, must have made these children particularly receptive to language learning. On the other hand, it presents itself, in their eyes, as the main gateway to a life condition that can only be better than the one they left and that, in any case, offers them the conviction of having more perspectives of life and success of those who left in their country of origin. This condition should lead to pay, in terms of policies, greater attention to the role of integration that can be played by institutions responsible for teaching Italian, such as the CPIA.

The purpose of this paper is to describe the aporias in the institutional discourse regarding the strategies of reception-refoulement of asylum seekers in Italy. First, it will analyze the evolution of the institutional discourse on security in recent years through a reflection on some aspects of the Schengen Treaty and the Dublin Convention of 1985 (Dublion I, II and III) and “Regimes of Mobility” (Glick Schiller & Salazar, 2013). Secondly, we will try to show that economic migrants, who are rejects according to “Hotspot system” and now to the decree “Minniti”, are often found them in severe distress conditions and in absolute inability to return to their countries. Refugees that circumvent the controls and remain in Italy, become victims from market of labor exploitation by pimps or become beggars and homeless. It seems evident as the identification and selection mechanisms in place within the “crisis points” (hotspots) confirms how are based on preventive exclusion criteria for many refugees from system of international protection. Exclusion facilitated by some Organizations and Institutions that are legitimately operating in the EU. The paper describes three aspects of phenomenon of refugees/asylum seekers cannot be reconciled in a coherent analysis of “doing Europe” and a unique in- terpretation. Furthemore, it outlines and discusses the strategies of “first asylum” provided at the Hotspot, especially when migrants show signs of physical violence or beatings.

Migrant women constitute a growing reality in Italy, also with reference to violence among family members. In particular, violence endured by the foreign female takes on a character of ‘dual violence,’ the violence experienced within the relationship is supplemented by the violence from the social context, which often isolates her, or even expels her following her ‘coming out into the open.’ The article presents extensive reflections emerging from the results of research carried out in 2012 in Sicily, aiming to explore the experience and perception of family violence and the possible influence of the migratory experience on changes in the forms and implications of family violence. The reflections emerging from the research are presented to the reader in a form integrating data about the phenomenon with relative scientific material, so as to provide a broader understanding of the dynamics observed and the general phenomena influencing them. In this article the essential features will be dealt with, including the opportunity and risk emerging from contact with the host culture, the role of national or cultural communities, the perception of violence and the inclination to react, and the intergenerational conflict. The final reflections will be derived from these, with regard to possible plans of action and prevention of the phenomenon.

Il saggio evidenzia come il discorso istituzionale, il discorso pubblico dei media e, infine, le interviste di testimoni significativi descrivono tre aspetti del fenomeno dei rifugiati / richiedenti asilo che non possono essere ricondotti in un'analisi coerente di "fare Europa" e un'interpretazione unica. L '"occidentalizzazione del pensiero critico" (Latouche, 1995) è quindi probabile che diventi un vero "nazionalismo occidentale", se i discorsi dal basso degli operatori culturali e dei mediatori linguistici non intervengono in maniera massiccia. I punti di crisi (Hotspot) confermano il tentativo di esclusione di alcuni rifugiati e richiedenti asilo. Un'esclusione dal sistema di protezione internazionale che impedisce ai richiedenti asilo di cooperare per la sicurezza e il controllo delle organizzazioni che operano legittimamente nell'UE. Per i mass media locali, i rifugiati e i richiedenti asilo sono spesso assimilati ai migranti senza lavoro e senza casa. Questa associazione non favorisce una percezione corretta e coerente di questo fenomeno da parte della popolazione locale. Nella percezione globale, i migranti, senza alcuna differenza tra di loro, fanno parte di un'umanità sofferente che potrebbe idealmente aiutare in alcuni casi ma, allo stesso tempo, costituiscono una minaccia per l'ordine pubblico e la tranquillità di ogni cittadino che frequenta di preferenza luoghi affollati dove è più facile chiedere aiuto ai poliziotti e di solito non si ferma in luoghi pericolosi come le ferrovie e strade poco illuminate. Infine, sono gli operatori dell'Hotspot di Trapani che descrivono lo stato assoluto di bisogno e disperazione di questa umanità sofferente: "Stanno arrivando" - ha detto uno degli intervistati - "come un gregge spaventato, ma tutti insieme in modo pulito". Il saggio evidenzia come il discorso istituzionale, il discorso pubblico dei media e, infine, le interviste di testimoni significativi descrivono tre aspetti del fenomeno dei rifugiati / richiedenti asilo che non possono essere ricondotti in un'analisi coerente di "fare Europa" e un'interpretazione unica. L '"occidentalizzazione del pensiero critico" (Latouche, 1995) è quindi probabile che diventi un vero "nazionalismo occidentale", se i discorsi dal basso degli operatori culturali e dei mediatori linguistici non intervengono in maniera massiccia. The purpose of this essay is to describe the difference between institutional discourse and the public discourse of Media and the opinion of operators about the phenomenon of refugees and asylum seekers in the "Regimes of Mobility" (Glick Schiller, Salazar, 2013). First, it analyzes the evolution of the institutional discourse on security in recent years through a reflection on some aspects of the Schengen Treaty and the Dublin Convention of 1985 (Dublion I, II and III) . Secondly, it argumentes how the Media elaborate narratives of a public speech that are not always congruent with the institutional one of the Conventions and Regulations. Thirdly, it describes the content analysis of 12 interviews conducted with the linguistic and cultural mediators who are working at the hotspot of Trapani. Crisis points (hotspots) confirms the preventive attempted exclusion of some refugees and asylum seekers. An exclusion from the system of international protection that prevents to asylum seekers to cooperate for the security and control of organizations that are legitimately operating in the EU. For the local Mass Media, refugees and asylum seekers are often assimilated to migrants without work and homeless. This association does not favor a correct and coherent perception of this phenomenon by the local population. In global perception, migrants, without any difference among them, are part of a suffering humanity that it would ideally to help in some cases but, at the same time, they are athreat to public order and tranquility of any citizen who goes in crowded places where it is easier to ask help policemen and usually doesn't stop in dangerous places such as the railway and little lit streets. Finally, are the operators of the hotspot of Trapani who describe the absolute state of harmlessly, need and despair of this suffering humanity: "They are coming” - said one of the interviewed - "like a flock scared, but all together neatly". The paper shows that the institutional discourse, the public discourse of the Media and, finally, the interviews of significant witnesses describe three aspects of phenomenon of refugees/asylum seekers cannot be reconciled in a coherent analysis of «doing Europe» and a unique interpretation. The «Westernization of critical thinking» (Latouche, 1995) is therefore likely to become a real “Western nationalism”, if the speeches from the bottom of cultural operators and linguistic mediators will not massively intervene.

La questione delle MGF/E mette in gioco le dinamiche di costruzione dell’identità di genere nel passaggio generazionale, il mutamento delle relazioni familiari e la rimodulazione dell’alleanza tra le generazioni. L’esperienza della migrazione altera la linearità dei rapporti intergenerazionali tanto sul piano dei valori morali, quanto su quello culturale, in quanto evento/esperienza di cambiamento a tutto tondo della realtà familiare (Scabini e Rossi, 2008), dell’ambiente di vita (Yeoh, 2000), che comporta la messa in gioco dei riferimenti alle antiche appartenenze e dunque un ripensamento della propria appartenenza alle tradizioni e ai valori della cultura di origine (Ambrosini e Abatecola, 2010). Questa dinamica assume connotazioni ancora più forti nell’ambito del passaggio transgenerazionale madre/figlia. Se ogni donna si trova a scegliere la direzione da prendere di fronte al bivio tradizione/innovazione, sia per se stessa sia verso le nuove generazioni, è pur vero che la migrazione – fusione di orizzonti esistenziali e culturali – fa sì che questo dilemma conosca diverse caratteristiche e toni più marcati di conflitto interno/esterno, con profonde conseguenze a livello dei rapporti intergenerazionali (Mariti, 2003). Numerosi dilemmi caratterizzano, dunque, il vissuto delle madri migranti nell’educazione delle figlie, nella fatica di dare alla definizione della loro identità di genere (Di Rosa, 2013), proprio mentre stanno vivendo la ridefinizione della propria. Tra questi dilemmi, la scelta o meno da parte delle madri provenienti da Paesi a Tradizione Escissoria (PTE) di sottoporre le figlie a forme di modificazione dei genitali femminili, una questione sulla quale si verificano potenziali e attuali difficoltà di contemperare diritti della donna, così come si sono configurati nella tradizione occidentale, e diritti culturali nelle forme rivendicate da alcuni componenti, individui o istituzioni, della popolazione immigrata (Pitch, 1995).

Nel saggio viene svolta una riflessione concernente le strategie istituzionali con cui la memoria collettiva viene manipolata secondo fini non individuabili esclusivamente all’interno degli stati nazionali, ma per ragioni ed influenze più vaste, come quelli sottesi all’inserimento nella Comunità Europea. Nel focalizzare l'analisi sul caso della Serbia, si evidenzia come una memoria collettiva “riplasmata” determini un diverso capitale culturale in generazioni e in generi che costituiscono la medesima coorte rispetto ad uno stesso avvenimento. La “memoria ferita del tempo”, intesa come durée che si riverbera nel presente, viene tesaurizzata dalle donne che sembrano maggiormente in grado di conciliare il passato con il presente, aprendosi al futuro e, in certo qual modo, all’Europa.

Il saggio, a carattere introduttivo, descrive alcuni dei processi di inclusione in atto attraverso un'analisi delle pratiche di rinegoziazione degli spazi di vita quotidiana da parte, soprattutto, delle donne migranti in Italia. Vi fanno da sfondo le discriminazioni professionali, le difficoltà nella definizione dei ruoli e dei piani di conciliazione famiglia-lavoro, le sfide agli stereotipi di genere e una più ampia costruzione narrativa dell'identità europea.
