The regulation contains policy guidance, administrative procedures, and responsibilities for the operation and maintenance of the Military Occupational Data Bank (MODB). It revises a former regulation governing the MODB method of operation by revising the list of occupational data collection agencies and by providing expanded information concerning data analysis, data reliability, and supplemental information available to MODB users. The first of three chapters is a general one which discusses the purpose and scope of the regulation, explains the terms used in it, describes the MODB, and discusses its responsibilities. Chapter 2, on the source of collection for enlisted Military Occupational Specialties (MOS), discusses objectives, restrictions, questionnaires, responsibilities, administrative procedures, and procedures for selecting qualified MOS incumbents. Chapter 3, MODB reports for enlisted Military Occupational Specialties, discussed objectives, standard reports, special reports, background information (BI) summary, Comprehensive Occupational Data Analysis Programs (CODAP) reports, requests for MODB reports, data reliability, and supplemental publications. This document presents an outline of a program of instruction for a global medicine course offered in 3 blocks by the Department of the Army. The purpose of the first block, which would take 156 hours to complete, is to provide Army Medical Department officers with a basic working knowledge of, and the fundamental concepts underlying, biostatistics and epidemiology that will enable them to plan, conduct, and evaluate scientific investigations in the biomedical field. The second block, consisting of 220 hours, is to provide Army Medical Department officers with advanced training in diseases occuring in tropical and other areas of the world. The third and final block consists of 132 hours and has as its purpose training Army Medical Department officers in (1) environmental factors of medical and potential military importance; (2) the examination and evaluation of all disease problems using the ecological approach; and (3) the appropriate use of public health and preventive medicine principles in varying environmental and cultural situations. "Intermediate Leadership Development" is the subject of this Reserve Officers Training Corps manual which is designed to be used as a textbook. The individual actions which protect a soldier and make him effective in small units are discussed in Part One. Part Two is concerned with techniques of military instruction and provides suggestions for military instructors. This manual is a textbook for the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps course entitled "Introduction to Leadership Development." Part One of the manual explains the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the high school and college levels, outlines the concept of the citizen-soldier in American history, and explains the organization of the Army. The Army's role in American history is discussed in Part Two. Other divisions of the manual are concerned with respect to the flag, prisoner of war behavior, individual health, military customs and ceremonies, and descriptions of weapons. Prepared under the direction of Headquarters, Department of the Army with the aid of subject matter specialists and technicians, this guide was designed to facilitate the preparation for and presentation of a course in administering local labor agreements. The five sessions, intended for first-line supervisors involved in day-to-day administration of labor agreements, include: (1) Expectations of Army Management, (2) Understanding the Contract, (3) Role of Management, (4) Role of the Union, and (5) Evaluating Experience with the Contract. Each session is discussed in activity sheets which contain: (1) the subject matter topic, (2) objectives for the session, (3) staff, (4) advance preparation by participants and staff, (5) outline of the session activities, and (6) assignments for the next session. Learning activities include lectures, conferences and work groups, case discussions, role playing, reading, films, and visual aids. (GEB)

This pamphlet contains information on scholarships, loans, and financial aids. It is specifically intended for use by army personnel, and their dependents. Information is presented on: (1) relevant publications, including financial aid booklets published by states and other organizations; (2) the educational assistance program for army dependents; (3) educational opportunities in the military service; (4) special considerations offered by military academies to sons of military personnel; (5) the War Orphans' Educational Assistance Act of 1956; (6) scholarships and other assistance related to military service; (7) student loan programs; (8) states offering scholarships and other aid to children of disabled and deceased veterans; (9) state scholarship programs and tuition rate at state schools; and (10) scholarship programs sponsored by private organizations. This handbook has been prepared for the purpose of offering guidance and assistance in the development and administration of a volunteer program within Army Community Service. It contains eight chapters. Chapter 1 is the Introduction. Chapter 2, Volunteers Are Partners and Team Members, considers the importance of attitudes, agreement on volunteer role, and motivation, moral, and personnel relationships. Chapter 3, Organizing and Developing a Volunteer Program, discusses basic principles and functions, committees, recognizing volunteers, facilities and finances, cooperation with other programs and communities, and the importance of command support. Chapter 4, Recruiting, Interviewing, and Assigning Volunteers is self-explanatory. Chapter 5, Volunteer Training, discusses concepts and types of training and quality of trainers. Chapter 6, Supervision and Evaluation of Volunteers, includes within its scope beginning and ongoing supervision. Chapter 7, Volunteer Turnover, covers loss of volunteers, releasing volunteers, and transferring volunteer records. Chapter 8 presents conclusions. It is concluded that volunteers are a major American resource to be nurtured, developed, and supported. The eight appendixes present job descriptions and committee procedures; samples of administrative forms; sample organizational charts for ACS Volunteer Service; interviewing principles, techniques, and procedures; training atmosphere; detailed training methods; training resources; and reference materials. The manual provides instructional guidance and reference material in the principles and procedures of general drafting and constitutes the primary study text for personnel in drafting as a military occupational specialty. Included is information on drafting equipment and its use; line weights, conventions and formats; lettering; engineering charts and graphs; geometrical construction; intersections and developments; multiview projections; pictorial drawing and sketching; dimension and notes; and methods of reproduction. The appendixes are lists of references, abbreviations, and illustrations and tables. There is also a subject index. (AG)

An instructor's guide and lesson plans for classroom instruction of women in the Army's Human Self-Development Program are provided. The topic of this pamphlet is "Our Moral Heritage." Each of the six chapters of the guide have the same format, as follows: Outline, Instructor's Resource Material, Lesson Plan, and Instructional Aids. The chapter titles are: I. The Military Women; II. Adjustments to the Military Service; III. Marriage and the Military Woman; IV. Maturity and the Military Woman; V. Women's Service to the Nation; and VI. Our Heritage. (DB)

A comprehensive review of the Department of the Army Management Intern Program, August, 1968, presents details about the aims of the program, the recruitment procedure, the characteristics (including qualification) of the participants, and the achievement and rate of promotion of these individuals who are being trained for civilian careers in the army. A comparison is made between the achievement of participants who have had graduate training and those who have not and the facts are supported by statistics. Also statistically presented is the ability of the program to retain those who are trained and the degree to which women are included among those trained. Volume III with its appendixes analyzes critically many different facets of officer education and training. It starts from the factual base of the current Army Schooling system established in Annex B of AD-743 252 and takes cognizance of schooling programs in other public and private sectors. It attempts to take the long view of officer education and training and to weigh the adequacy of the present system in various areas to meet the challenges which will face the Army during the next decade. The purpose of the Board was to determine adequacy and appropriateness of current Army school system and education and individual school training of Army officers in light of responsibilities confronting military establishment for the foreseeable future and to recommend changes in academic program during the next decade to make greatest contribution to the discharge of those responsibilities. The study examines present system for education and training of Army officers of all components from time of commissioning until retirement at service schools, service colleges, and civilian educational, commerce, and industrial institutions; evaluates system against background of current and projected world and defense environment, the technological explosion, and military requirements across total spectrum of conflict; and recommends such change in system as are appropriate for the period 1966-1976.
