Amaç: Bu tez çalışmasının amacı, Türkiye’nin ve İstanbul’un spor yoluyla tanıtımında çok büyük öneme sahip olan, Boğaziçi Kıtalararası Yüzme Yarışı’nda görev alan gönüllü insan kaynaklarının organizasyona katılım nedenleri ve motivasyonel faktörlerini incelemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Birinci aşamada; literatür taraması yapılmıştır. İkinci aşamada; veri toplama aracı olarak anket tekniği uygulanmıştır. Üçüncü aşamada; anket verileri SPSS programında analiz edilmiştir. Dördüncü aşamada ise analizlerin sonuçları tartışılmıştır. Çalışmada Boğaziçi Kıtalararası Yüzme Yarışı’nda görev alan gönüllülerin katılım nedenleri ve motivasyonel faktörlerini belirlemek için geliştirilen, “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ile “Spor Gönüllüleri Motivasyon Ölçeği” uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Boğaziçi Kıtalararası Yüzme Yarışı organizasyonunda görev alan gönüllülerin cinsiyet, yaş sınıfı, medeni durumları ve aylık gelirlerine yönelik frekans ve yüzde frekansları açıklanarak betimsel istatistikleri incelenmiştir. Daha sonra, ölçeğin analizleri yapılmış, alt boyutların açıklanan varyansları test edilmiş, verilerin normal dağılımları incelenmiştir. Faktör analizi sonucu katılımcıların medeni durumları, cinsiyetleri, yaşları, eğitim seviyeleri ve aylık gelirlerine göre anket sorularına sergiledikleri bakışlarda anlamlı farklılıklarını araştırmak için; Kolmogorov Smirnov ve Kruskal Wallis analizleri uygulanmıştır. Sonuç: Türkiye’de spor gönüllülerinin birçok özelliği birbirlerine göre değişiklikler göstermektedir. Düzenlenmesi planlanan spor organizasyonlarının yapılarında bulunması çok büyük fayda sağlayan gönüllülük programları için bu tür çalışmalar yapılmalı ve tüm unsurlar dikkate alınarak hazırlıklar tamamlanmalıdır. Araştırma sonuçları doğrultusunda öneriler sunulmuştur. Anahtar Kelimeler: Spor, spor gönüllülüğü, spor gönüllüleri yönetimi Objective: The aim of this thesis is to examine the reasons for participation and motivational factors of volunteer human resources participating in the Bosphorus Cross Continental Swimming Race that is of great importance in the promotion of Turkey and Istanbul through sports. Materials and Methods: The first stage; literature review was conducted. The second stage, questionnaire technique was used as data collection tool. The third stage, survey data were analyzed in the SPSS program. The fourth stage, the results of the analyzes were discussed. In the study, \"Personal Information Form\" and \"Sport Volunteers Motivation Scale\" were developed to determine the reasons for participation and motivational factors of the volunteers participating in the Bosphorus Cross Continental Swimming Race. Results: The frequency and percentage frequencies of the volunteers participated in the Bosphorus Cross Continental Swimming Race was explained, and their descriptive statistics were examined. Subsequently, analyzes of the scale were done, explained variances of the sub-dimensions were tested, and the normal distribution of the data was examined. The result of factor analysis, Kolmogorov Smirnov and Kruskal Wallis analyzes were applied to investigate the significant differences according to their marital status, gender, age, education level and monthly income. Conclusion: Many characteristics of sports volunteers show an differ amany participants in Turkey. Such studies should be carried out for volunteering programs which are very beneficial to be included in the structures of planned sports organizations. Moreover, preparations should be completed in these organizations by considering all the elements. Suggestions were made in the scope of the research results. 7. Elementary Teachers' Beliefs about Teaching Science and Classroom Practice: An Examination of Pre/Post NCLB Testing in Science

The impact of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) mandated state science assessment on elementary teachers' beliefs about teaching science and their classroom practice is relatively unknown. For many years, the teaching of science has been minimized in elementary schools in favor of more emphasis on reading and mathematics. This study examines the dynamics of bringing science to the forefront of assessment in elementary schools and the resulting teacher belief and instructional shifts that take place in response to NCLB. Results indicated that teachers' beliefs about teaching science remained unchanged despite policy changes mandated in NCLB. Teacher beliefs related to their perceptions of what their administrators and peer groups' think they should be doing influenced their practice the most. Most teachers reported positive feelings and attitudes about science and reported that their students had positive feelings and attitudes about science; however, teachers reported teaching science less as a result of NCLB. Implications for elementary science education reform and policy are discussed.

8. Views of Inquiry: Mismatches between Views of Science Education Faculty and Students of an Alternative Certification Program

The purpose of this phenomenographic study was to: (a) gain an understanding of the meaning of inquiry held by beginning science teachers and their instructors in an Alternative Teacher Certification Program (ATCP); and (b) compare science teachers' views of inquiry with what they learned in their ATCP. Participants were four beginning science teachers and two faculty members involved in teaching science methods courses in the ATCP. Semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, field notes, and written materials were the data sources. The primary data sources for the study were six to 15 hours of classroom observation of teaching and learning and approximately 8 hours of interviewing with each teacher. Interviews with each faculty member were also completed. These interviews required 60-75 minutes. A phenomenological data analysis approach [Uljens, M. (1996). "On the philosophical foundation of phenomenography." In G. Dall'Alba & B. Hasselgren (Eds.), "Reflections on Phenomenography--Toward a methodology?" (pp. 105-130). Goteborg: Acta Universitatis Gothoburgensis] was used to complete qualitative analyses and categorical summaries of the data. The results showed that the teachers held rather incomplete views of inquiry-based teaching [National Research Council. (2000). "Inquiry and the national science education standards." Washington, DC: National Academy Press], and these views were highly discrepant with the views of teacher education faculty. Implication of the findings for science teacher education and future research on the development of inquiry-based practices are discussed. (Contains 2 notes.)

10. College Science Teachers' Views of Classroom Inquiry

- Abstract
The purposes of this study were to (a) gain an understanding of the views of inquiry held by faculty members involved in undergraduate science teaching and (b) describe the challenges, constraints, and opportunities that they perceived in designing and teaching inquiry-based laboratories. Participants included 19 college professors, representing both life and physical science disciplines, from (a) 2-year community college, (b) small, private nonprofit liberal arts college, (c) public master's granting university, and (d) public doctoral/research extensive university. We collected data through semistructured interviews and applied an iterative data analysis process. College science faculty members held a "full and open inquiry" view, seeing classroom inquiry as time consuming, unstructured, and student directed. They believed that inquiry was more appropriate for upper level science majors than for introductory or nonscience majors. Although faculty members valued inquiry, they perceived limitations of time, class size, student motivation, and student ability. These limitations, coupled with their view of inquiry, constrained them from implementing inquiry-based laboratories. Our proposed inquiry continuum represents a broader view of inquiry that recognizes the interaction between two dimensions of inquiry: (a) the degree of inquiry and (b) the level of student directedness, and provides for a range of inquiry-based classroom activities.

16. Commentator Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī's Approach to the Verses about Meteorological Events

The Qur’ān is a clear and understandable book that was revealed as a guide and a source of true path for humanity. Since its revelation, the most accurate understanding has been the main subject of the interpretation. Many studies have been performed in this field. One of them is the work of Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī titled Mafātīh al-Ghayb. In this work, al-Rāzī, who has largely provided positive information, observations and experiments, has received many criticisms especially on astronomy. In this study, which we aimed to reveal Rāzī’s interpretations of meteorological events, which were first in philosophy and later in astronomy, we aimed to address his comments and today's data and make a brief comparison and we tried to identify conflicting and conflicting points. In doing so, we tried to avoid from detailed discussions. Meteorological events are the events that we encounter every day and feel it’s positive or negative effects. These events, which occur in the atmosphere surrounding our planet, are comprehensible and become more useful with the help of positive sciences such as mathematics, physics and chemistry. Today, meteorology is considered as an independent science and high-tech instruments and methods are used to obtain its data. In this way, more realistic information and data can be obtained. When interpreting the meteorological expressions in the Qur’ān, al-Rāzī included the lexical meaning of the words in the verses and made different preferences from place to place in terms of their literal (zahirī) and esoteric (bātinī) meanings. al-Rāzī, who emphasized oneness of God (tawhid), the prophethood (nubuwwāt) and judgement day (ma‘ad) in all the verses in this context, never expressed any opinion about the approval of the Qur’ān by science and did not prefer any determinist understanding that can be summarized as cause and effect relationship. For example, he assessed all the knowledge that were revealed by the scientists of his time or earlier about the occurrence of rain and that expressed the cause and effect relationship, as possible beings in terms of Kalam, and stated that all these things are in need of a Creator that is Allah. al-Rāzī has, who discussed whether the rain comes from the sky or from the cloud at length, argued in the interpretation of different verses that sometimes rain came from the sky, and sometimes from the cloud. In the interpretation of some of the verses, al-Rāzī who had pre-cautionary approach to the fact that every drop of rain came down through an angel, accepted the approach that it was neither more nor less and it is just as much as the needs of the local people, based on the measure word mentioned in verses related the occurrence of rain in a certain amount. He also states that there are some signs of rainfall and that this situation can be understood from these signs, but he thinks that will not be certain. al-Rāzī, who also thinks of two possibilities regarding the "descending of the mountains that are full of hail" and mentions that both may be possible, consequently stated that he preferred to consider the verse in a literal sense. al-Rāzī, who also touched on the subject of cloud as one of the meteorological events, and evaluated its formation, position and movements within the context of the principle of tawhid and said that clouds are the beings moving by Allah’s command and that only Allah decides where and how long they will stay. Regarding the kinds of clouds, he also discussed two kinds of clouds in the context of the relevant verse and dealt with the subject in the context of fate and wisdom. He also argued the relationship between the cloud and the wind then emphasized the creator's principle of “the measure” in the universe regarding the formation of winds by the movement of clouds and the placement of them within the framework of the principle of tawhid. He interpreted the ‘rain-bearing clouds’ as ‘hurricane clouds’ or as ‘clouds forced by wind to rain’. al-Rāzī, also evaluated the subject of formation and movements of winds and objected to the philosophers’ and chaldeans’ opinions and emphasized that it was absolutely Allah who provided this formation and movement. By interpreting the available knowledge about the types of winds, he emphasized the benefits of winds, and especially prioritized their being inoculant and contented to convey information and comments on the subject. He considered lightning, one of the meteorological events perhaps the most interesting one, as a miracle, however he objected to the energy that was said to be in the cloud, saying that it is unlikely, but that such a thing could happen with God's creation. al-Rāzī, who also emphasized the lightning as fear and hope, evaluated the subject within the framework of social and regional conditions. He didn’t consider the rumors about thunder as “voices of angels” as highly unlikely by taking into consideration of different interpretations and even the comments of the Sufis. It can be said that al-Rāzī tried to come to a conclusion based on the idea that every creature typically glorifies the Creator. Expressing the thunderbolt interestingly, conveyed information about its structure and forms of realization and, consequently handled it at the point of the evidence of tawhīd. In this study we discussed al-Rāzī’s work, which can be considered as one of the first in the field of commentaries. Based on his work, we can say that we did not see the approval of the Qur’ān by science, which we frequently encounter in the studies carried out especially in the modern period and which has been widely criticized by some experts. Conversely he included the subject within the framework of tawhīd, the prophethood (nubuwwāt) and judgement day (ma‘ād). When al-Rāzī’s comments are examined, it will be seen that some knowledge is far from being updated and even contradicts with contemporary scientific knowledge. This should not be regarded as a fault due to lack of data at the time of the author. On the contrary, we are of the opinion that it would be more accurate to address the subject within the framework of developments of positive sciences. As a result, it can be stated that the need to reinterpret the verses and bring further expansions to the guidance of the Qur’ān clearly continues to exist.

On the contrary, we are of the opinion that it would be more accurate to address the subject within the framework of developments of positive sci-ences. As a result, it can be stated that the need to reinterpret the verses and bring further expan-sions to the guidance of the Qur’ān clearly continues to exist., Kur’an, insanlık için bir rehber ve hidayet kaynağı olarak indirilmiş, açık ve anlaşılır bir ilâhî kitap-tır. İndirildiğinden bugüne onun en doğru şekilde anlaşılması, tefsir ilminin ana konusunu oluş-turur. Bu alanda pek çok çalışma yapılmıştır. Bunlardan birisi de Fahreddin er-Râzî’nin Mefâtîhu’l-gayb adlı eseridir. Bu eserinde döneminin pozitif bilgi, gözlem ve deney verilerine bolca yer veren Râzî, özellikle astronomi konusunda pek çok eleştiri almıştır. Önceleri felsefe, sonra da astronomi bilimi içinde yer alan meteorolojik olaylar hakkındaki yorumlarını ortaya koymayı amaçladığımız bu çalışmamızda Râzî’nin yorumları yanında bugünkü verileri de ele almaya, kısa da olsa bir karşılaştırma yapmaya, uyuşan ve çelişen noktaları belirlemeye çalıştık. Bunları yaparken de ayrıntıya girmemeye dikkat ettik. Meteorolojik hadiseler her gün karşılaştığımız, yaşadığımız, olumlu ya da olumsuz etkilerini hissettiğimiz olaylardır. Dünyamızı çevreleyen atmosferde meydana gelen bu olaylar matematik, fizik, kimya gibi pozitif bilimlerin yardımıyla anlaşılır ve daha çok faydalanılır hale gelir. Meteoro-loji günümüzde artık bağımsız bir bilim dalı olarak kabul edilmekte ve verilerinin elde edilmesin-de yüksek teknoloji ürünü âletler ve yöntemler kullanılmaktadır. Bu sayede gerçeğe daha yakın bilgiler ve veriler elde edilebilmektedir.Râzî, Kur’an’da yer alan meteorolojik ifadeleri yorumlarken âyetlerde yer alan kelimelerin lügat anlamlarına yer vermiş, zahirî ve batınî anlamları konusunda yer yer farklı tercihlerde bulunmuş-tur. Bu bağlamdaki bütün âyetlerde tevhit, nübüvvet ve âhiret temalarına vurgu yapan Râzî, hiçbir zaman Kur’an’ı bilime onaylatma yönünde bir görüş beyan etmemiş, sebep sonuç ilişkisi şeklinde özetleyebileceğimiz determinist bir anlayışı da tercih etmemiştir. Örneğin yağmurun oluşması konusunda döneminin veya daha önceki âlimlerin ortaya koydukları ve sebep sonuç ilişkisini ifade eden bütün bilgileri kelâm ilmi açısından mümkün varlıklar olarak değerlendirmiş ve bütün bunların bir yaratana muhtaç olduklarını, onun da Allah olduğunu ifade etmiştir. Yağ-murun gökten mi yoksa buluttan mı indiğini uzun uzun tartışan Râzî, farklı âyetlerin yorumunda kimi zaman yağmurun gökten indiğini savunurken kimi zaman da onun buluttan indiğini ifade etmiştir. Bazı âyetlerin yorumunda yağmurun her damlasının bir melek aracılığıyla indiğine dair görüşe ihtiyatlı yaklaşan Râzî, yağmurun belli bir miktarda yağması olayında da ilgili âyette geçen ölçü kelimesinden yola çıkarak bunun ne az ne de çok olduğunu, sadece yöre halkının ihtiyacı kadar olduğu şeklindeki yaklaşımı kabul etmiştir. Yağmurun önceden bilinmesi konusunda da bunun birtakım belirtileri olduğunu, bu durumun bunlardan anlaşılabileceğini ancak bunun bir kesinlik ifade etmeyeceği kanaatinde olduğunu belirtmektedir. İçinde dolu bulunan dağların indirilmesi konusunda da iki ihtimalli düşünen ve her ikisinin de olabileceğinden bahseden Râzî, sonuç olarak âyetin zahirî manada ele alınmasını tercih etmiştir. Meteorolojik olaylardan birisi olarak bulut konusuna da değinen Râzî, onun oluşumunu, konu-munu ve hareketlerini tevhit ilkesi bağlamında değerlendirmiş ve bulutların Allah’ın emriyle hareket eden varlıklar olduğunu, nerede ne kadar ve ne zaman duracaklarını Allah’ın takdir etti-ğini söylemiştir. Bulutların çeşitleri konusunda da yine ilgili âyet bağlamında iki çeşit buluttan söz ederek konuyu kader planında ve hikmet noktasında ele almıştır. Bulut ve rüzgâr arasındaki ilişkiye de değinen Râzî, bulutların hareketlerinde rüzgârların oluşumu konusuyla ilgili olarak yaratıcının evrende koyduğu ölçü prensibine vurgu yapmış ve konuyu yine tevhit ilkesi çerçeve-sinde ele almıştır. Yüklü bulutlar şeklindeki nitelemeyi ‘kasırgalı bulutlar’ ya da rüzgârların sıkış-tırarak yağmur yağdırmakla yüz yüze getirdiği bulutlar şeklinde açıklamıştır. Rüzgârların oluşumu ve hareketleri konusunu da değerlendiren Râzî gerek felsefecilerin gerekse müneccimlerin konu hakkındaki görüşlerine itiraz ederek bu oluşumu ve hareketi sağlayanın mutlak manada Allah olduğunu vurgulamıştır. Rüzgârların çeşitleri ile ilgili olarak mevcut bilgi-leri değerlendiren Râzî, rüzgârların faydalarına da değinmiş ve özellikle aşılayıcı olmalarını önce-lemiş ve konu hakkındaki bilgi ve yorumları aktarmakla yetinmiştir. Râzî, meteorolojik olaylardan biri, belki de en ilginci olan şimşeği bir mucize olarak değerlendir-miş ancak onda olduğu söylenen enerjiye itiraz ederek bunun uzak bir ihtimal olduğunu ancak Allah’ın yaratmasıyla böyle bir şeyin meydana gelebileceğini ifade etmiştir. Şimşeğin korku ve ümit oluşuna da değinen Râzî, konuyu sosyal ve bölgesel şartlar çerçevesinde değerlendirmiştir. Gök gürlemesi hakkında yapılan, ‘meleklerin sesi’ şeklindeki rivayetleri uzak bir ihtimal olarak görmeyen Râzî, konu hakkındaki farklı yorumlara yer vermiş, hatta sûfîlerin yorumlarını dahi değerlendirmeye almıştır. Burada, Râzî’nin her yaratılmış varlığın kendine has bir şekilde yaratıcı-yı tespih ettiği düşüncesinden hareketle bir sonuca ulaşmaya çalıştığından söz edilebilir. Yıldırım konusunu enteresan olarak ifade eden Râzî, onun yapısı ve gerçekleşme şekilleri hakkındaki bilgi-leri aktarmış ve neticede olayı tevhit delilleri noktasında ele almıştır. İlmî tefsir alanında ilklerden sayılabilecek Râzî’nin eseri ile ilgili olarak yaptığımız bu çalışmada özellikle modern dönemde yapılan çalışmalarda sıkça gördüğümüz ve bazı uzmanlarca çokça eleştirilen Kur’an’ın bilime onaylatılması durumunu görmediğimizi, onun konulara tevhit, nü-büvvet ve âhiret ekseninde yer verdiğini söyleyebiliriz. Râzî’nin bu konular hakkındaki yorumları incelendiğinde bazı bilgilerin güncellikten çok uzak olduğu hatta günümüzde ulaşılan bilimsel verilerle çeliştiği görülecektir. Bize göre bu durum müellifin zamanındaki verilerin yetersizliğin-den kaynaklanmaktadır ve bir hata olarak değerlendirilmemesi gerekir. Aksine, konunun pozitif bilimlerdeki gelişmelerin doğallığı çerçevesinde ele alınmasının daha doğru olacağı söylenebilir. Sonuç olarak, ilmî tefsir alanına giren âyetlerin yeniden yorumlanması ve Kur’an’ın hidayet rehbe-ri oluşuna bu açıdan yeni açılımlar getirilmesi, bir ihtiyaç olarak varlığını sürdürmektedir.

Hicret, sözlükte 'terketmek, ayrılmak, ilgisini kesmek' anlamına gelir. Kişinin herhangi bir şeyden bedenen, lisanen veya kalben ayrılıp uzaklaşması' demektir. Terim olarak genelde 'gayr-i müslim ülkeden (dam 7 harp) İslam ülkesine göç etmeyi' ifade eder. Ancak bu kelime daha çok Hz. Peygamberin ve Mekkeli Müslümanların Medine'ye göç etmelerini anlatmak için kullanılmıştır. Kur'ân-ı Kerîm, Hz. Peygamberin hicretinden bahsettiği gibi ondan önceki peygamberlerin hicretinden de bahsetmektedir. Hicretin kavram olarak iman, cihad, irade, sabır, tebliğ, tevekkül ve mi'rac gibi temel İslâmî kavramlarla yakın ilişkisi vardır. Hicret bir yönden insanı ruhî olgunluğa hazırlarken, bir yönden de yine bu ruhî olgunluğa bağlı olarak, dış dünyada bir değişikliği gerektirmektedir. Bu açıdan hicretin iyi kavranabilmesi için onun psikolojik, sosyal, tarihi, siyasi, fıkhı ve çağa bakan yönleriyle tanınması, bilinmesi ve özellikle, toplumların bunalımdan bunalıma girdiği günümüzde, onun toplumsal uzlaşma boyutuyla çok iyi anlaşılması gerekmektedir. Diğer taraftan İslam tarihinde hicret çok önemli bir yere sahiptir. Çünkü hicret bir devlet olarak ortaya çıkabilmenin zeminini hazırlamıştır. Aslında insanlık tarihi iyi incelendiğinde bütün medeniyetlerin ve oluşumların öncesinde mutlaka bir hicret olayını görmek mümkündür. İslam fıkhı açısından olaya baktığımızda ise; Hicretin Hz. Peygamber zamanında farz olduğu, ondan sonra bu farziyetin kalktığı şeklinde görüşler olduğu gibi bu farziyetin sürekli olduğunu savunanlar da bulunmaktadır. Diğer taraftan hicretin zahiri yönünden çok batınî yönünü, yani Allah'ın yasaklarından uzak durmayı, emirlerine uymaya çalışmayı, ahlâkî olgunluğu yaygınlaştırmayı ön plana çıkaranlar da vardır. Ancak özellikle dünyanın küçük bir köy görünümüne döndüğü günümüz şartlarında ülkeyi terketme yerine insanın bulunduğu yeri yaşanabilir hâle getirmesinin daha tercih edilebilir bir görüş olduğunu söylemek mümkündür. Öte yandan, büyük göç hareketlerine pek fazla rastlanılmamasına rağmen, günümüzde artmış olan etnik bölünmenin getirdiği birtakım sorunların aşılmasında, toplumların ve onları yönetenlerin hicret hareketlerini iyi değerlendirmeleri ve politikalarını ona göre belirlemeleri gerekmektedir. Sonuç olarak hicret, dün olduğu gibi bugün de yarın da insanlığın barış ve esenliğine katkıda bulunabilecek, sosyal barışın sağlanmasında etkin bir çözüm yolu olarak önümüzde durmaktadır. Hegira comes to the meaning of the `leaving something` or `cutting the relation with something`. This word expresses one's going far away something with his life, thoughts and emotions. As a term we mean by `hegira` migration from a non-muslim country to an Islamic country. But this word is usually used to express the migration of the Prophet Muhammad (a.s.m.) and his friends from Mecca to Medina. Quran talks about the migration of the prophet as it talked about the hegira' s of the previous prophets. As a concept hegira has a close relation with the basic Islamic concepts such as faith, holy war, resolute, patience, pdroclamation, trust, miraculous. Hegira prepares the maturity of human's soul While it involves a change of his out-world depending on the maturity of soul So, it is necessary to knmv its psychological, social, political, religious details and the aspects concerning our century and to understand it with its mission of the peace of society at a time in which societies enter crisis after another crisis to comprehend the hegira well Furthermore hegira has an importent place in the history of Islam since it prepared the necessary conditions to be a state. In fact, if we examine the history of humanity it is possible to see the hegiras prior to the formations of all civilizations. But we are faced with different opinions if we examine Jurisprudence of Islam. There are the ones claiming that the hegira was a must during the times of hte prophet Muhammad (a.s.m.) and after him this necessity was abolished. On the other hand, there are the ones giving the priority to not do the forbidden things and to obey God's sayings and to the maturity of soul But corcerning today's conditions and considering the fast globalization of the world It is possible to say that it is preferable to make the conditions liveble where we live instead of leaving countries. On the other hand, although great migrations are not seen today. It is necessary for societies and the supervisors of societies to evaluate the migrations well and to arrange their policies suitably to soul the problems caused by ethnic divisions. In conculision, hegira stands for an efficient solution to provide the social peace for today and tomorrow as it did yestarday. 'W. 230
