This work has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska- Curie ETN TeamUp5G, grant agreement No. 813391. R. Oliveira was also supported by the projects InfoCent-IoT (PTDC/EEI-TEL/30433/2017) and UIDB/EEA/50008/2020. This letter investigates the influence of the number of repetitions adopted in the NB-IoT standard to increase cellular coverage. We characterize the SINR in both uplink and downlink channels of ultra-dense networks, which is then used to derive the coverage probability and the NB-IoT’s capacity. The performance results show the effectiveness of the number of repetitions to reduce the block error rate for different densities of transmitters. authorsversion published
