In pastures, the application of limestone is often performed after removal of the animals for proper development and establishment of regrowth. Together with this practice, the use of picloram in high concentrations for dicotyledonous weeds is common. Therefore, the evaluation of the behavior of this herbicide in these conditions is critical. The objective of this study was to determine the leaching of the picloram, in the soil with different pH and cultivated with Urochloa brizantha (signalgrass) trimmed or not. The experiment was plotted in a subdivided plot with four repetitions, where the plots were constituted by factors pH (5.3 and 6.4) and Urochloa brizantha managements (trimmed and no trimmed). The subplots were composed by depths (0 to 50 cm). The picloram was applied to the top of the columns after 65 days after emergency. A rain of intensity of 60 mm was simulated 12 h after the herbicide application. Picloram concentration was quantified by the high-performance liquid chromatography. Besides that, a control treatment was added without the presence of the signalgrass, for each substrate. The picloram was not detected in the percolated water through the columns. Picloram leached to deeper layers in the soil with pH 6.4, independently of the signalgrass management. The signalgrass reduced the leaching of the picloram, and those no-trimmed demonstrate a higher capacity to retain the herbicide in superficial layers. The liming of the soil increases the pH and reduces the amount of organic matter in the soil, which favors the leaching of picloram to the layer of 30–35 cm. Trimming of Urochloa brizantha reduces the capacity of this forage to reduce the leaching of picloram.

Considerando a importância dos microrganismos do solo, objetivou-se avaliar a biomassa e atividade microbiana em um Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo, submetido aos sistemas de plantio direto e convencional e às sucessões de culturas milho-feijão e soja-trigo por dez anos. Utilizou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com três repetições. Nas parcelas foram dispostos os sistemas de plantio, e nas subparcelas, as sucessões de culturas. Amostras de solo foram coletadas nas profundidades 0-5, 5-10 e 10-15 cm, e nelas determinadas o carbono da biomassa microbiana, respiração basal do solo e o carbono orgânico total, e calculados os índices quociente metabólico e quociente microbiano. Não houve diferença no carbono da biomassa microbiana entre os sistemas de plantio e as sucessões de culturas em nenhuma das profundidades amostradas. A taxa respiratória dos microrganismos diferiu entre sucessões de culturas na profundidade de 0-5 cm, com maior valor para a sucessão soja-trigo. O carbono orgânico nas profundidades de 5-10 e 10-15 cm foi 27,1 e 37,5% maiores no plantio convencional do que no plantio direto, respectivamente. O quociente microbiano, na profundidade de 10-15 cm, foi maior no plantio direto. Conclui-se que as sucessões de culturas influenciam a taxa respiratória dos microrganismos no solo, principalmente em menor profundidade. A sucessão soja-trigo proporciona maior atividade dos microrganismos no solo estudado. Não houve diferença na biomassa e atividade microbiana entre os sistemas analisados nas camadas superficiais do solo, após dez anos de cultivo consecutivos, possivelmente porque não houve, em ambos, restrições químicas e/ou físicas marcantes, como compactação.

Before recommending an herbicide, it is necessary to know its interactions with the soil attributes that will influence its sorption and half-life in the soil. This knowledge is an essential condition for minimizing any negative effects that may result from its application. However, due to the great diversity of soil and climate in Brazil, especially for products of recent use in the country, such as the herbicide tembotrione, this knowledge is often not available. This may be the main cause of occurrence of intoxication reports in crops carried out in succession to corn sprayed with this herbicide. In order to reduce possible impacts on successor crops and the contamination of surface and groundwater using the high-performance liquid chromatography, the tembotrione half-life was determined in soils with different attributes. The evaluated soils were a Red-Yellow Latosol with and without liming (Viçosa, MG), Red-Yellow Latosol (Rio Paranaíba, MG), Yellow Latosol (Sooretama, ES), and Red-Yellow Latosol with and without liming (Gurupi, TO). The results showed that liming might favor tembotrione degradation in the soil, as well as direct relationships between values of tembotrione half-life and contents of clay and soil organic matter. Tembotrione half-life in samples of Red-Yellow Latosol (without liming) collected in Viçosa and Rio Paranaíba, MG, was higher than 90 days, indicating carryover risks in successive crops to corn sprayed with tembotrione in these regions.

The commercial mixture of imazethapyr and imazapic herbicides has been used for the control of red rice and several other species of weeds found in rice crops; this system called Clearfield. However, its use may limit the succession of non-tolerant crops for long residual activity. The research objective with this work was to determine the persistence of imazethapyr, imazapic and their mixture in three soils in the Brazilian state of Tocantins. Three experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design with four replications, each corresponding to the evaluated soil (Haplic Plinthosol (FX), red-yellow Latosol (LVA) and Haplic Gleysol (GX)). The treatments were arranged in a split plot design, with the allocated plots herbicides (imazethapyr and imazapic alone and commercial mixture) and the plots allocated the 11 evaluation times (1, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135, 150 days after treatment (DAT)), and a control without application. Contacted up long residual effect of imazethapyr and commercial mixture of imazethapyr and imazapic, regardless of assessed soil. After 150 days of applying herbicides or the commercial mixture, their residues in the soil also inhibited approximately 94% of the mass of the dry matter accumulation of the indicator plants. When imazapic was applied alone, there was a higher dry matter accumulation of the indicator plants, indicating less residual effect of this herbicide in the soil and this was attributed to the lower dose of this herbicide applied. The attributes of the soil pH, texture and iron oxides were what most affected the persistence of the herbicides. It can be concluded that the persistence of imazethapyr and imazapic is too long in the Brazilian state of Tocantins soils and the use of these herbicides in the region should be avoided due to the high risk of the occurrence of carryover,or be well planned, as land use in rotation for susceptible crops. RESUMO O sistema de cultivo Clearfield(r) utiliza os herbicidas imazethapyr e imazapic no controle de plantas daninhas. Um dos principais problemas relacionados ao uso desse sistema é a restrição ao cultivo de outras culturas, causada pelo efeito residual dos herbicidas. Três experimentos foram realizados para avaliar a persistência do imazethapyr e imazapic em solos utilizados no sistema Clearfield(r). Cada experimento correspondeu a um solo avaliado: Plintossolo Háplico, Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo ou Gleissolo Háplico. O imazethapyr e o imazapic isolados e em mistura comercial foram aplicados no solo, e seu residual foi avaliado em 11 épocas (1, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135 e 150 dias após o tratamento). A planta indicadora utilizada foi o sorgo (Sorghum vulgare). O imazethapyr e sua mistura com o imazapic causaram reduções da matéria seca das plantas indicadoras superiores a 94%, mesmo após 150 dias da aplicação, independentemente do solo avaliado. O imazapic causou menor inibição do crescimento do sorgo, indicando menor efeito residual desse herbicida nos solos. A mistura comercial teve maior persistência, comparada à aplicação isolada dos herbicidas. Independentemente do tipo de solo, a persistência do imazethapyr foi maior que a do imazapic.

RESUMO O conhecimento dos fatores que influenciam a lixiviação dos herbicidas no solo é fundamental para sua utilização de forma segura, do ponto de vista técnico e ambiental. Neste trabalho, avaliou-se a mobilidade do sulfentrazone em quatro solos provenientes de uma área de reflorestamento da região Sul do Brasil (Planossolo Háplico, Argissolo Vermelho, Cambissolo Húmico e Neossolo Regolítico) e um Latosso Vermelho-Amarelo da Zona da Mata de Minas Gerais. As amostras de solo foram coletadas na profundidade de 0-20 cm e caracterizadas física e quimicamente. Os substratos foram colocados em colunas e, posteriormente, aplicou-se, nos topos delas, 1,0 kg ha-1 do herbicida, seguido de uma chuva simulada de 60 mm. Após a drenagem da água, foram semeadas ao longo da coluna sementes da espécie Sorghum bicolor , como planta bioindicadora da presença do sulfentrazone; 21 dias após o plantio, foi realizada a avaliação visual da intoxicação das plantas de sorgo e a coleta da parte aérea delas para determinação da matéria seca. O delineamento utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas. As colunas preenchidas com cada um dos solos constituíram as parcelas, e as 10 profundidades da coluna (0-5, 5-10, 10-15, 15-20, 20-25, 25-30, 30-35, 35-40, 40-45 e 45-50 cm), as subparcelas, mais uma testemunha sem herbicida para cada solo. Os teores de argila e matéria orgânica e o pH de cada solo influenciaram na mobilidade do sulfentrazone; solos com menores teores de argila e matéria orgânica apresentaram maior potencial de lixiviação desse herbicida. ABSTRACT Knowledge of factors that influence the leaching of herbicides in the soil is essential to use these products safely from a technical and environmental perspective. This study evaluated the mobility of sulfentrazone in four soils from southern Brazil (Haplic Planosol, Red Argisol, Humic Cambisol and Entisol) and a Red-Yellow Latosol from the Zona da Mata region in the state of Minas Gerais. Soil samples were collected at a depth of 0-20 cm and characterized physically and chemically. The substrates were placed in columns, and 1 kg ha-1 of the herbicide was subsequently applied on top of them, followed by a simulated rainfall of 60 mm. After draining the water, Sorghum bicolor seeds were sown along the column, as bioindicators of the presence of sulfentrazone; 21 days after planting, the presence of the sorghum plants was assessed visually, and the shoots were collected for determination of dry matter. The experimental design was completely randomized in subdivided plots, whereas the columns filled with each of the five soils were the main plots and the 10 column depths (0-5, 5-10, 10-15, 15-20, 20-25, 25-30, 30-35, 35-40, 40-45 and 45-50 cm) were the subplots. There was a herbicide-free control for each soil. Clay content, organic matter and pH of each soil influenced the mobility of sulfentrazone, and soils with lower clay and organic matter levels showed higher potential of leaching of sulfentrazone.

Changes in the agricultural environment can be determined by providing microbiological indicators of the soil since the soil microorganisms are sensitive to variations in the environment. In this way, the impact of herbicides of long residual effect on the rhizospheric soil microorganisms of sugarcane cultivars was evaluated. The cultivars of sugarcane (SP 81-3250 and RB 867515) were treated with four herbicides (tebuthiuron, diuron, ametryn and mixture of diuron + and hexazinone) applied in pre-emergence. The herbicides were applied seven days after the planting of the gems. At 30, 60 and 90 days after the application, the soil rhizosphere was collected in each treatment to determine the CO2 evolution of the soil (C-CO2), microbial biomass carbon (MBC), metabolic quotient (qCO2), solubility potential of inorganic phosphorus P (PSFI) and percentage of roots colonized by mycorrhizal fungi Arbuscular. No changes were observed in the microbial activity of the sugarcane rhizosphere at 30 days after application of the herbicides (DAA). However, at 90 DAA, all herbicides negatively affected the activity of the rhizospheric microorganisms of sugarcane. The metabolic activity of rhizosphere in soil cultivated with RB 867515 was less affected by herbicides. Alterações no ambiente agrícola podem ser determinadas por meio indicadores microbiológicos do solo, uma vez que a microbiota do solo é sensível às modificações do ambiente. Desta forma, avaliou-se o impacto de herbicidas de longo efeito residual sobre a microbiota rizosférica de cultivares de cana-de-açúcar. As cultivares de cana-de-açúcar SP 81-3250 e RB 867515 foram tratadas com quatro herbicidas (tebuthiuron, diuron, ametryn e a mistura diuron + hexazinone) aplicados em pré-emergência. Os herbicidas foram aplicados sete dias após o plantio das gemas. Aos 30, 60 e 90 dias após a aplicação, o solo rizosferico de cada tratamento foi coletado para determinar a evolução de CO2 no solo (C-CO2), o carbono da biomassa microbiana (MBC), o quociente metabólico (qCO2), o potencial de solubilização de P inorgânico (PSFI) e a percentagem de raízes colonizadas por fungos micorrízicos arbusculares. Não foram observadas alterações na atividade microbiana da rizosfera da cana-de-açúcar aos 30 dias após a aplicação dos herbicidas (DAA). No entanto, aos 90 DAA todos os herbicidas afetaram negativamente a atividade dos micro-organismos rizosféricos da cana-de-açúcar. A atividade metabólica da rizosfera em solo cultivado com a RB 867515 foi menos afetada pelos herbicidas.

Herbicides with long residual period may increase the risk of environmental contamination. Adequate management of forage can reduce the half-life of the picloram, one of the most herbicides used in weed control. This study aims to determine the half-life of picloram, using high-performance liquid chromatography in a cultivated soil with Brachiaria brizantha trimmed or not. Brachiaria brizantha was cultivated in 60 pots filled with samples of oxisol, and 30 others were kept uncultivated with this forage. This plant was cut off close to the ground, after 60 days of emergency on 30 vessels. Picloram was applied in all of the plots. Soil samples were collected at 2, 16, 30, 44, 58, 72, 86, 120, 150, and 180 days after the application of this herbicide. These samples were air-dried and stored at − 20 °C. Picloram was extracted by HPLC/UV-Vis detector. Half-life of this herbicide was calculated using kinetics models. The mere presence of roots in treatment with signalgrass cutoff did not reduce the concentrations of this herbicide, except when the emergence of new leaves occurred. The absence of B. brizantha cultivation in areas with application of picloram increases the risk of environmental contamination and successive crops due to the half-life of this herbicide. Brachiaria brizantha reduced half-life picloram and environmental risk in pastures. The validation method is suitable for determining picloram in low concentrations in soil.

Uma das técnicas alternativas que minimizam o efeito de herbicidas de longo período residual consiste no cultivo de espécies vegetais que se associam a microbiota do solo, acelerando a degradação do agrotóxico no ambiente. Assim, objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar o impacto do herbicida sulfentrazone sobre a atividade e a biomassa microbiana em solo com e sem cultivo de Canavalia ensiformis, como espécie remediadora. Amostras de solo foram coletadas em um experimento de campo onde os tratamentos foram dispostos em esquema fatorial 2x2 (aplicação ou não do sulfentrazone associados ou não ao cultivo de C. ensiformis), em blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. As datas de coleta das amostras de solo foram 15 e 70 dias após o plantio da espécie remediadora. Em laboratório, avaliou-se o carbono do CO2 (C-CO2) liberado, o carbono da biomassa microbiana (CBM) e foi calculado o quociente metabólico (qCO2). Com o cultivo de C. ensiformis, nas amostras de solo tratadas ou não com herbicida ocorreram oscilações nos valores do C-CO2 liberado e do CBM. Todavia, o qCO2 foi menor nos tratamentos com aplicação do sulfentrazone e com o cultivo da planta remediadora, indicando que cultivar C. ensiformis em áreas contaminadas com sulfentrazone reduz o efeito prejudicial sobre a atividade biológica do solo, proporcionando aumentos dos valores do CBM e proporcionando um equilíbrio do sistema.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o crescimento inicial e as características fisiológicas do eucalipto submetido a diferentes manejos do capim-braquiária. O experimento foi realizado em ambiente protegido, no delineamento de blocos casualizados com cinco repetições. Os tratamentos foram arranjados em esquema fatorial (5 x 2) + 1, sendo o primeiro fator correspondente aos tipos de manejo da planta daninha (ausência de controle, controle químico mantendo no solo a parte aérea do capim-braquiária, controle químico retirando a parte aérea do capim-braquiária, controle mecânico mantendo no solo a parte aérea do capim-braquiária e controle mecânico retirando a parte aérea do capim-braquiária) o segundo às espécies de capim-braquiária (Urochloa brizantha e Urochloa decumbens), além de uma testemunha referente ao eucalipto em monocultivo. O crescimento do eucalipto não foi alterado pela presença das espécies de capim-braquiária até os 50 dias após a aplicação dos tratamentos (DAT). Todavia, o convívio dessas espécies com o eucalipto até os 107 DAT reduziu o diâmetro do coleto, a matéria seca total e a aérea foliar, mas não alterou as características relacionadas a fotossíntese e transpiração. O método de controle adotado com a remoção ou manutenção da parte aérea do capim-braquiária, independentemente da espécie, não alterou o crescimento inicial do eucalipto. Conclui-se que o convívio por 105 dias do eucalipto com Urochloa decumbens ou Urochloa brizantha reduz o crescimento do eucalipto. Contudo, os controles químico ou mecânico, associados ou não à retirada dos resíduos da capina do capim-braquiária, foram métodos eficientes para impedir a interferência dessas plantas daninhas. The objective of this work was to evaluate the initial growth and the physiological characteristics of eucalypt submitted to different managements of signalgrass. The experiment was conducted in a protected environment, using a randomized blocks design with five repetitions. The treatments were arranged in a (5 x 2) + 1 factorial design, and the first factor corresponded to the types of weed management (no control; chemical control keeping the signalgrass shoot on the soil; chemical control with removal of the signalgrass shoot; mechanical control keeping the signalgrass shoot on the soil, and mechanical control with removal of the signalgrass shoot); the second factor corresponded to the two weeds species (U. brizantha and U. decumbens) and a control relative to the eucalypt in monoculture. The eucalypt growth was not affected by the presence of the Urochloa species until 50 days after treatments (DAT). However, the coexistence of these species with eucalypt for 107 DAT reduced the collar diameter, total dry matter, and the leaf area, but did not alter the characteristics related to photosynthesis and transpiration. The control method adopted, with removal or maintenance of the signalgrass shoot, regardless of species, did not change the initial eucalypt growth. It can be concluded that the coexistence of eucalypt with Urochloa decumbens or Urochloa brizantha for 105 days reduces the eucalypt growth. However, the use of chemical or mechanical control, with or without removal of signalgrass residue, were effective methods to prevent interference of these weeds.

Competition between maize and signalgrass can economically cripple the intercropping by the reduced yield of maize and dry matter content of the forage. In seeking to define plant arrangements which make this system more efficient, this research was held with the objective of assessing the effects of interference of densities of signalgrass (Urochloa Brizantha) on nutrition and on maize grain yield. Two field experiments were conducted in a randomized block design with four replications. Treatments were arranged similarly in both experiments, in a 2 x 4 factorial design, the first factor being the dose of Nicosulfuron herbicide applied (0 and 8 g ha-1) and the second factor being the forage seeding rates (0, 2, 4 and 6 kg of seeds per hectare). The interference of signalgrass reduced foliar nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus content in maize plants intercropped with the forage. Higher values of grain yield were observed with the reduction of the spacing and the application of the recommended herbicide underdose (8 g ha-1). It was concluded that, regardless of the seeding density of U. Brizantha, reducing the maize seeding inter-rows spacing, combined with the application of an underdose of Nicosulfuron, caused a positive effect by reducing the initial forage growth, resulting in less interference of Urochloa brizantha on nutrient uptake by the maize plants and grain yield of the crop. A competição entre o milho e a braquiaria pode inviabilizar economicamente o consórcio devido à redução na produção de grãos do milho e de matéria seca da forrageira. Na busca por definir arranjos de plantas que permitam tornar esse sistema mais eficiente, realizou-se esta pesquisa com o objetivo de avaliar os efeitos da interferência de densidades de braquiária (Urochloa brizantha) na nutrição e produção de grãos do milho. Foram realizados dois experimentos de campo, no delineamento de blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram arranjados de modo semelhante nos dois experimentos, em esquema fatorial 2 x 4, sendo o primeiro fator a dose aplicada do herbicida Nicosulfuron (0 e 8 g ha-1)e o segundo as densidades de semeadura da forrageira (0, 2, 4 e 6 kg de sementes por hectare). A interferência da braquiária reduziu os teores foliares de nitrogênio, potássio e fósforo nas plantas de milho consorciadas com a forrageira. Maiores valores de produção de grãos foram verificados com a redução do espaçamento e a aplicação da subdose recomendada do herbicida (8 g ha-1). Concluiu-se que, independentemente da densidade de semeadura de Urochloa brizantha, a redução do espaçamento entre linhas do milho, aliada à aplicação da subdose do Nicosulfuron, causou efeito positivo por reduzir o crescimento inicial da forrageira, resultando em menor interferência de Urochloa brizantha no acúmulo de nutrientes pelas plantas de milho e na produtividade de grãos da cultura.

Interactions between weeds and soil microorganisms can give them a competitive advantage over crops. This study assessed the biomass and microbial activity of soil cultivated with weeds and corn (Zea mays L.) in monoculture and in competition under different fertility management systems. The experiment considered four soil fertility management systems (calcium and magnesium silicate + fertilization; limestone + fertilization; no correction source + fertilization; no correction source + no fertilization) and 12 crops (five competition arrangements between corn and weeds Urochloa brizantha (Hochst. ex A. Rich.) R.D. Webster, lpomoea grandifolia (Dammer) O’Donell, Conyza canadensis (L.) Cronquist, Hyptis suaveolens (L.) Poit., and Bidens pilosa L. plus the six species in monoculture and bare soil. After 60 d coexisting in a greenhouse, soil samples were collected to determine microbial biomass, respiration rate, and metabolic quotient. Soils cultivated with B. pilosa and Z. mays+U. brizantha showed higher microbial biomass. Cultivation of B. pilosa and Z. mays+H. suaveolens provided greater energy efficiency to maintain microbial cells. Biomass and microbial activity were altered by plant species, coexistence, and soil fertility management. Calcium and magnesium silicate, as well as limestone similarly influenced biomass and respiration rate of soil cultivated with most species. For some crops, the Si source was better than limestone to promote lower specific activity of the edaphic microbiota. The change in the microbial activity of soil can be a strategy used by the species to minimize the effects of competition.

Soil is a very heterogeneous environment that allows the establishment of wide range of microorganisms populations, whose balance is affected by biotic and abiotic factors. This study has aimed to assess the effect of doses of mesotrione and fluazifop-p-butyl herbicides and two assessment periods on microbial activity and biomass of soil cultivated with cassava Cacau-UFV cultivar, besides the root colonization by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Two trials were conducted in a protected environment where was realized post-emergence application of mesotrione in the doses of 72, 108, 144 and 216 g ha-1 and fluazifop-p-butyl in the doses of 100, 150, 200 and 300 g ha-1, besides a control without application. Soil samples were collected for determination of soil respiratory rate (RR), microbial biomass carbon (MBC), metabolic quotient (qCO2), and colonization of roots by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi at the 30 and 60 days after applications (DAA) of the herbicides. Fluazifop-p-butyl increased the RR, MBC and the percentage of cassava roots colonized by mycorrhizal fungi in the assessment performed at 60 DAA. The larger effects of mesotrione on soil microbial indicators were up to 30 DAA, being the changes minimized at 60 DAA. It is concluded that the herbicides alter the soil microbial indicators, with effects dependent of the product, of dose applied and also of the period of assessment. O solo é um ambiente bastante heterogêneo que permite o estabelecimento de diversas populações de microrganismos, cujo equilíbrio é afetado por fatores bióticos e abióticos. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito de doses dos herbicidas mesotrione e fluazifop-p-butil e duas épocas de avaliação na atividade e biomassa microbiana do solo cultivado com o cultivar de mandioca Cacau-UFV, bem como a colonização das raízes por fungos micorrízicos arbusculares. Dois ensaios foram realizados em ambiente protegido, constituindo-se da aplicação em pós-emergência do mesotrione nas doses de 72, 108, 144 e 216 g ha-1 e do fluazifop-p-butil nas doses de 100, 150, 200 e 300 g ha-1, além de uma testemunha sem aplicação. Aos 30 e 60 dias após a aplicação (DAA) dos herbicidas, amostras de solo foram coletadas para determinação da taxa respiratória do solo (TR), do carbono da biomassa microbiana (CBM) e do quociente metabólico (qCO2), sendo também avaliada a colonização das raízes por fungos micorrízicos arbusculares. O fluazifop-p-butil aumentou a TR, o CBM e a porcentagem de raízes de mandioca colonizada por fungos micorrízicos na avaliação realizada aos 60 DAA. Já os maiores efeitos do mesotrione sobre os indicadores microbiológicos do solo foram até os 30 DAA, e aos 60 DAA as alterações foram minimizadas. Conclui-se que os herbicidas alteram os indicadores microbianos do solo, sendo os efeitos dependentes do produto, da dose aplicada e também da época de avaliação.

Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar as caracteristicas fisiologicas da cana-de-acucar apos aplicacao de herbicidas em pre-emergencia. Para isso, foi conduzido um experimento em esquema fatorial 2x5, onde o fator A constituiu-se das cultivares RB 867515 e SP 81-3250 , e o fator B da aplicacao em pre-emergencia do tebuthiuron, diuron, ametryn, a mistura formulada diuron + hexazinone e uma testemunha sem herbicidas. O delineamento utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repeticoes. As avaliacoes foram realizadas aos 90 dias apos a aplicacao dos herbicidas. A concentracao interna de carbono ( C i), a relacao carbono interno e externo ( C i /C a) e o indice SPAD das cultivares de cana-de-acucar nao foram afetadas pela aplicacao em pre-emergencia dos herbicidas. No entanto, a condutância estomatica ( gs ), a taxa respiratoria ( E ) e a taxa fotossintetica ( A ) da RB 867515 foram reduzidas quando tratadas com tebuthiuron. A A e a eficiencia no uso da agua ( EUA ) da cultivar RB 867515 foi alterada negativamente pela aplicacao do ametryn. Conclui-se que existe diferenca na sensibilidade dos genotipos de cana-de-acucar aos herbicidas, sendo que a SP 81-3250 mostrou-se mais tolerante. A aplicacao do ametryn e tebuthiuron reduz a A da RB 867515.

The objective of this work was to study the influence of adjuvants on leaching and persistence of sulfentrazone in a Red-Yellow Ultisol. The soil was stored in PVC columns of 10 cm diameter and 50 cm length. The treatments were composed of sulfentrazone mixed with six adjuvants (Adesil®, Break-Thru®, Assist®, Hoefix®, Fera® and Nortox® Vegetable Oil), a treatment with sulfentrazone without any adjuvant and a treatment without the herbicide. In the treatments with sulfentrazone, the herbicide was applied at a rate of 1.0 kg ha-1 at the top of the columns, and 12 hours after application, the columns were subjected to simulated rainfall (60 mm). To confirm leaching of sulfentrazone, soil samples were collected every 5 cm up to 50 cm in each column and transferred to 300 cm3 pots to conduct a bioassay using the species Sorghum bicolor. At 21 days after emergence (DAE) of sorghum, visual assessment of intoxication was performed and shoot dry matter percentage was determined. To determine the influence of adjuvants on persistence of sulfentrazone in the soil, new sorghum seeds were planted as soon as the sorghum plants from the first planting were cut; also, phytotoxicity scores were assigned and shoot dry matter was determined at 21 DAE. This procedure was repeated up to 173 days after herbicide application, when the plants showed no more visual symptoms of intoxication. The adjuvant Break-Thru® was effective at reducing leaching of sulfentrazone. The presence of adjuvants applied together with sulfentrazone did not influence the persistence of the herbicide in the study soil. Persistence of sulfentrazone lasted for 143 days. RESUMO: Objetivou-se neste trabalho estudar a influência de adjuvantes na lixiviação e na persistência do sulfentrazone em um Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo. O solo foi acondicionado em colunas de PVC de 10 cm de diâmetro por 50 cm de comprimento. Os tratamentos foram compostos pela combinação do herbicida sulfentrazone misturado a seis adjuvantes (Adesil®, Break-Thru®, Assist®, Hoefix®, Fera® e Óleo Vegetal Nortox®), um tratamento com sulfentrazone sem adjuvante e um tratamento sem herbicida. Nos tratamentos com sulfentrazone, o herbicida foi aplicado na dose de 1,0 kg ha-1 no topo das colunas, e, 12 horas após a aplicação, as colunas foram submetidas à chuva simulada (60 mm). Para confirmação da lixiviação do herbicida, em cada coluna, foram coletadas amostras de solo a cada 5 cm até 50 cm e transferidas para vasos de 300 cm3, onde foi realizado o bioensaio utilizando a espécie Sorghum bicolor. Aos 21 dias após a emergência (DAE) do sorgo, foi avaliada a intoxicação visual e a matéria seca da parte aérea. Para determinação da influência dos adjuvantes na persistência do sulfentrazone no solo, assim que as plantas de sorgo do primeiro plantio foram cortadas, realizou-se o plantio de novas sementes de sorgo e, aos 21 DAE, foram dadas notas de fitotoxicidade e determinou-se a matéria seca da parte aérea. Esse procedimento foi repetido até 173 dias após a aplicação do herbicida, quando não foram mais observados sintomas de intoxicação nas plantas. O adjuvante Break-Thru® foi eficiente em reduzir a lixiviação do sulfentrazone. A presença dos adjuvantes aplicados junto ao herbicida não influenciou na persistência do sulfentrazone no solo estudado. A persistência do herbicida foi de 143 dias.
