Khirbat Iskandar is an Early Bronze Age (ca. 3800-1950 BCE) mound in the Madaba Governorate of Jordan. Until a decade ago, it was better known as a key site for the non-urban Early Bronze IV period (ca. 2500-1950 BCE), but is increasingly emerging as a signature site for the urban Early Bronze II-III period (ca. 3050-2500 BCE). The contour of the tall site is shaped by the presence of buried fortifications that were investigated in the north-western sector of the mound, where a long sequence of rebuilds was recognized, but were exposed to and impacted by modern construction activities along the southern and south-eastern areas prior to being recorded. There, due to erosion and weathering, the stone fortifications dating to the first half of the Early Bronze III (ca. 2850-2650 BCE) fell down. In this paper, we report on our strategies to assess threats, document damages, sustainably stabilize, and consolidate the collapsed ancient fortifications in the 2023 field season at Khirbat Iskandar. At the same time, we discuss the conceptual/methodological and practical challenges of identifying best practices in the conservation and preservation of antiquities that collapsed prior to being excavated. We conclude with some thoughts on how to build on these actions to efficiently present the archaeology and cultural heritage at protohistoric sites, like Khirbat Iskandar, and to make it accessible for the local and the international communities. Khirbat Iskandar is an archaeological site in central Jordan with significant human occupation during the urban Early Bronze II–III periods (ca. 3100/3000–2500 BC) and the non–urban Early Bronze IV period (ca. 2500–1950/1920 BC). The Archaeological Expedition to Khirbat Iskandar is a long-term project started in 1981 and continuing until today for the systematic investigation of this signature Early Bronze Age site. The 2022 excavation season exposed more of the Early Bronze III sequence to clarify the timing and processes of the rural transition between Early Bronze III and IV, which are still opaque on a regional scale. In the meantime, the team is engaging with planning strategies for the site’s protection and promotion, as well as with the challenge of communicating the results of archaeological research efficiently. In fact, there are many important lessons for our contemporary society to learn from Khirbat Iskandar’s narrative of resilience in face of change and crisis that can be reconstructed through the stratigraphy and cultural heritage at the site. Resumen Objetivo: Presentar la situación clínica de dos queratoquistes odontogénicos en maxilar inferior en un paciente pediátrico. Caso clínico: Un paciente varón de 10 años de edad fue derivado a la Cátedra de Odontología Integral Niños de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Luego de los exámenes clínico, radiológico y el análisis histopatológico, se realizó el tratamiento quirúrgico conservador combinado con la aplicación de solución de Carnoy en ambas lesiones y control clínico-radiográfico a los 2 años. Conclusión: Si bien esta patología no es muy frecuente en niños, por su naturaleza agresiva y la alta recurrencia es fundamental el diagnóstico temprano a través de radiografías panorámicas. El tratamiento quirúrgico conservador y el seguimiento a distancia disminuyen el riesgo de recurrencia y la morbilidad. Palabras clave: Paciente pediátrico, queratoquiste odontogénico, tratamiento. Abstract Aim: To present the clinical situation of two mandibular odontogenic keratocysts in a pediatric patient. Clinical case: 10-year-old patient, male, referred to the Department of Comprehensive Pediatric Dentistry of the University of Buenos Aires Dental Faculty. After clinical-radiographic examination and histopathological analysis, conservative surgical treatment was carried out in both lesions combined with the application of Carnoy’s solution and clinical-radiographic control for 2 years. Conclusion: even though this is not a very frequent pathology in children, due to its aggressive nature and high recurrence, early diagnosis through panoramic radiography is crucial. Conservative surgical treatment and long-term control decrease the risk of recurrence and morbidity. Key words: Odontogenic keratocyst, pediatric patient, treatment.

The second half of the third millennium BCE is traditionally interpreted as a period of intense interactions between the southern Levant and Egypt. In past scholarship, interpretative frameworks for these activities have centered either on conflicts or commercial relations linked to the trade of southern Levantine copper with Egypt, both considered limited to the time of the Old Kingdom with virtually no evidence of contacts afterward until the early Middle Kingdom. However, nothing is virtually known about southern Levantine–Egyptian connections during this time span. This article reconsiders, from the southern Levant perspective, the impact of the lack of chronological resolution in the sub-phasing of the southern Levantine Early Bronze IV on this question and discusses how recent archaeological research may enhance our understanding of this phase in an interregional context. Resumen Objetivo: Comparar la prevalencia de MIH en niños con y sin demanda de atención odontológica en la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Sujetos y métodos: Se evaluaron 704 niños que demandaron atención en la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Buenos Aires y en dos escuelas públicas. Fueron incluidos quienes presentaban erupcionados los cuatro primeros molares y los ocho incisivos permanentes, conformándose dos grupos: A: con demanda de atención (n=461); B: sin demanda de atención (n=243), registrando piezas afectadas y severidad de las lesiones.
