Abstract

New technologies development related with introducing new business models revolutionize the tourism sector. We are facing huge challenges regarding the new technologies disrupting many sectors. Researchers and practitioners witness breakthrough and revolutionary changes in the tourism industry in recent years. The aim of the article is to present selected new technology- based solutions using e.g. Augmented and Virtual Reality, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Wi-Fi connectivity and wearable devices and analyze how their implementation would make the tourist offer of rural areas more attractive to customers and would inspire to innovations that disrupt the existing business models. The author presents chosen examples of new technology-based solutions and trends (e.g. sharing economy, experiential travelling, collaborative economy) that can be introduced in tourism industry in rural areas. The review results in formulating some ideas that may be applied in tourism in rural areas, e.g. talking statues (www.talkingstatues.co.uk, 2019) to guide and entertain visitors, virtual assistants to instantly inform and solve customers' problems, sensors to monitor clients' health and mood to personalize the offer, autonomous vehicles to transport goods, e-commerce platforms supporting sales of local crafts, or goods and services exchange in order to increase the attractiveness of the offer and to meet the customers' expectations. 31. Bayesian approach to the process of indentification of the determinants of innovativeness

Abstract

Bayesian belief networks are applied in determining the most important factors of the innovativeness level of national economies. The paper is divided into two parts. The first presentsthe basic theory of Bayesian networks whereas in the second, the belief networks have been generated by an inhouse developed computer system called BeliefSEEKER which was implemented to generate the determinants influencing the innovativeness level of national economies.Qualitative analysis of the generated belief networks provided a way to define a set of the most important dimensions influencing the innovativeness level of economies and then the indicators that form these dimensions. It has been proven that Bayesian networks are very effective methods for multidimensional analysis and forming conclusions and recommendations regarding the strength of each innovative determinant influencing the overall performance of a country's economy.
