A good curriculum vitae (CV) highlights medical educators' academic achievements and supports their professional goals. Many faculty struggle with timely updates and strategic formatting. These twelve tips will help medical educators optimize their CV to best showcase their strengths and accomplishments. The first three tips outline a process: identify a system to collect potential entries and schedule regular time for updates. Tips four and five detail how to tailor traditional CV formatting to best describe the work of medical educators. The next few tips offer concrete strategies and examples of CV entries to consider for inclusion. The remaining tips remind faculty to ask for help from colleagues, who can share a sample CV and identify overlooked activities. Our intention is to transform a task that can be burdensome into a process that seamlessly captures the breadth of our work as medical educators and allows for introspection and growth. Abstract Background In today’s competitive job market, pharmacists must have a well-crafted curriculum vitae (CV), cover letter, and personal statement. However, non-native English speakers may face challenges in crafting effective job application documents. Jordan is one such country where English is a second language for many, and little is known about the CV/job application writing skills of Jordanian pharmacists. Therefore, this study examined Jordanian pharmacists’ ability to write job applications cover letters, and personal statements in English and investigated the association between several demographics and professional variables and the readability index of cover letters and personal statements. Methods This study aimed to investigate Jordanian pharmacists’ ability to write job applications cover letters, and personal statements in English and evaluate the readability of their personal statements and cover letters. The data were blindly and independently reviewed by two researchers. The readability of the cover letters and personal statements was assessed using an online calculator that assigns a readability index score. A readability score of 7–12 was considered “target”, while scores above 12 or below 7 were considered “complicated” or “simple”, respectively. The relationship between readability index scores and other variables was analyzed using the chi-square test with a statistical significance level of 0.05. Results The study recruited 592 pharmacists. Most applicants, specifically 62.3%, were female, and 60.0% of them graduated more than six months before submitting their job applications. While 78.2% of the applications included a personal statement, only 34.8% included a cover letter, and 27.2% provided both. Of the 206 cover letters written in English, 43.2% were tailored, and 80.6% were structured. The study also found that the provision of an official photo was associated with providing a cover letter (P

Audience: Although this lecture is aimed at medical students, it can also be utilized for residents, fellows, and junior faculty. Background: The topic of teaching medical students about the fundamentals of creating a curriculum vitae (CV) is important because a CV serves as a record of scholastic and professional experiences.1 Thus, their CV will undoubtedly play a vital role in residency applications.2,3 Intentional instruction about the elements to incorporate in a CV are especially important for first-generation and underrepresented students in the medical field because they may not have had as much exposure to both the requirements of a residency application nor qualities of an effective CV. Educational Objectives: After this lecture, learners should be able to: 1) elaborate on the significance of a CV for medical students and discuss its purpose, 2) outline the elements that should and should not be included on a CV, 3) integrate knowledge gleaned from basic principles with provided examples to establish the foundation of their own CV. Educational Methods: A PowerPoint lecture was used to explain the purpose of a CV and the elements to include in a personal CV for medical students. The lecture took place via Zoom and was provided at no cost to all UCISOM medical students. Research Methods: Students were given a short survey after the session to assess their understanding of why it is important to create and maintain a CV, including an evaluation of their overall satisfaction with the lecture presentation. Results: All the respondents (n=10) found the workshop to be useful and enjoyed the ability to see student examples while 80% of the respondents (n=8) found their knowledge of CVs increased because of the session. On a Likert scale from 1-5, with a 1 indicating "very unconfident" and 5 indicating "very confident," 90% of respondents (n=9) indicated they are now confident or very confident in building or updating their CV after this session. Discussion: Overall, the educational content was found to be effective. Although the sample size from the survey was modest at best, we feel the survey data and comments from attendees during and after the session indicate the effectiveness of the content. From its initial implementation, we learned that this lecture can be given by any level of medical education professional (student, administrator, etc) due to the comprehensiveness of the presentation. We also learned that using video conferencing such as Zoom was an effective administration method but could also be replaced by in-person learning without much difficulty. Overall, we deem this presentation to be easy to administer, thorough, full of examples, and educationally effective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Of the 206 cover letters written in English, 43.2% were tailored, and 80.6% were structured. The study also found that the provision of an official photo was associated with providing a cover letter (P < 0.001, Phi(φ) = 0.14) while providing a structured cover letter was associated with including a personal statement (P < 0.001, Phi (φ) = 0.24). Only 102 cover letters and 65 personal statements had readability index scores within the target range. Conclusion: In this study, most Jordanian pharmacists undervalue the importance of cover letters and personal statements and lack job application writing skills. The study also highlighted the need for improved pharmacists' English proficiency to write effective job application documents in Jordan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The Alliance of Leaders in Academic Affairs in Radiology (ALAAR) advocates for a Universal Curriculum Vitae for all medical institutions and to that end, we have developed a template that can be downloaded on the AUR website (ALAAR CV template) that includes all of the elements required by many academic institutions. Members of ALAAR represent multiple academic institutions and have spent many hours reviewing and providing input on radiologists' curricula vitae. The purpose of this review is to help academic radiologists accurately maintain and optimize their CVs with minimal effort and to clarify common questions that arise at many different institutions in the process of constructing a CV. Purpose This research was conducted to evaluate the influence of a pharmacy residency candidate's prior work or research experience on the potential for selection for an interview. Additionally, residency program directors (RPDs) were asked to evaluate the importance of letters of intent and recommendation, rank the importance of typical curriculum vitae (CV) items along with general preferences, and provide advice for a standout CV. Methods This cross-sectional, survey-based study recruited RPDs to review a work-focused or research-focused fictitious residency candidate CV and complete a 33-question survey regarding interest in interviewing the fictitious candidate and their general perceptions of significant factors in interview candidate selection. Results A total of 456 RPDs responded to the survey, with 229 respondents assigned to evaluate the work-focused CV and 227 assigned to review the research-focused CV. Among RPDs who provided CV evaluations, 81.2% (147/181) of those who reviewed the research-focused CV and 78.3% (137/175) of those who reviewed the work-focused CV gave a positive evaluation (P > 0.05). Work experience and extracurricular activities were considered the most important CV sections, and high-quality advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) rotations and pharmacy work experience were perceived to have the highest correlation with success in residency. Conclusion This work supports the importance of candidates creating a well-rounded CV in preparing themselves for residency. Pharmacy-related work experience and high-quality APPE rotations seem to be key in an RPD's opinions of predicted success in a residency program. The CV remains a vital document in the residency candidate review process, and it deserves a high degree of effort in ensuring it adequately reflects professional experiences. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

While all nurses likely have a resume, most do not have a Curriculum Vitae or CV. CVs are used to provide a complete picture of your professional history. Resumes are crafted to highlight a candidate's fitness for a particular position. In contrast, a CV is a complete record of one's professional career and accomplishments. A CV is a comprehensive document that, along with your education and job history, is a record of all your professional achievements and activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The principle of career pathways based on merit, brought in by the French Revolution, was also asserted by Napoleon. Though opposed to the concept of favour, merit remained an ambiguous term, conceived both as an individual and a hereditary feature. The analysis of a corpus of almost seven hundred applications for employment, produced by three hundred candidates, allows us to examine on which elements they based their rhetorical strategy – be it education, service, kinship, sufferings, or family burdens – by observing the Napoleonic administration through the perception held by those who wanted to be employed. WOMEN mathematicians , *NATIONAL socialism - Abstract
This is the first publication of the Curriculum Vitae of Maria von Wedemeyer, fiancé of the famous theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer who has been executed by the Nazis just a few days before the end of World War II as a resistance fighter against Hitler. Maria wrote this CV in the year 1948 at the age of 23, when she applied for a scholarship at Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia. In Germany, she had studied mathematics at the University of Göttingen, and she intended to pursue studies in physics and history in order to become a teacher. Here application was approved and she remained in the United States for good: She was twice married and divorced, raised two sons and embarked on a career in the emerging computer industry before she died on Boston at the age of 53 in with cancer. Whereas Dietrich Bonhoeffer's popularity is still growing more than 75 years after his death, little is known about his family background. This is especially true for the women among his relatives – despite of their crucial importance for the resistance movement. Maria von Wedemeyer kept silent about her relationship with Dietrich for the most part of her life, trying to leave behind the terrible strokes of fate which she had experienced as a young woman: Her beloved father and brother were killed as soldiers at the Eastern Front in Russia, her family's state in Brandenburg was destroyed by the Red Army and her fiancé was killed by the Gestapo. However, Maria relates how deeply she was shaped by the Christian faith of her parents and about the aspirations she has to educate a new generation for a better future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTRODUCTION: Scholarship applicants often receive different advice on what should be included in their Curriculum Vitae (CV). This study aims to investigate what the essential components of a CV being prepared for scholarships are, how to present them, and what their level of impact is. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The authors sent an online structured questionnaire to 7512 corresponding authors of recent published papers in Scopus; 124 completed questionnaires were returned. Recommended elements for a CV were chosen according to the Delphi consensus technique with a threshold of 50%. RESULTS: This survey revealed that headings, bullet points and careful error checking were essential parts of the layout. For the content of the CV, besides publications, education and training background, research experience and research interest were also necessary. Moreover, almost all respondents ranked publications as the most important qualification of an academic scholarship candidate. Publications also came first as the most impressive factor, followed by awards and honours. The number of publications, quality of journal, impact factor and total citation should be presented in publication section. The importance of publications in getting academic scholarships is significantly emphasized in this recent study. CONCLUSIONS: Having research experience and papers in peer review journals, are highly recommended for students seeking academic scholarships. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study explores the reported professional biographies of women who hold senior positions in higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, using their personal experiences to highlight how they have come into these roles, what has influenced them since their childhood to take up these positions and how their gender affected the choices they have made throughout their educational and professional paths. This research also draws out the nature and types of leadership roles they have had, the role of gender in fulfilling them and the manner in which women are handling these positions, on top of all the other challenges they also face. This study is also interested in examining the interaction between the socialisation process and identity to generate new insights into the way the professional identities of academic leadership have been, and continue to be, constructed and developed among Saudi women throughout their life, helping researchers to understand complex cultural issues. Therefore, this study focuses on examining the interaction between the agency of the Saudi woman who hold a high organisational position, the structuring context of this role, the organisation and wider cultural norms in the formation and development of their professional and personal identities, and with the notion of a conflict and struggle between these multiple identities when they are in senior positions. The data for this study has been collected from a sample of six women who hold senior headship positions in six different universities around the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; these positions are the Dean of the Female Section, the Vice Dean of the Female Section, and the Vice Dean of Faculty. The biographical research approach is used to achieve the key aims of this study. This approach uses the stories and data from personal documentation to understand the life of each individual within its social context. One of the methods, the Biographic Narrative Interpretive Method (BNIM), is employed through three biographical narrative interviews conducted with each of the six participants. In addition, primary documents and autobiographies comprising the participants' Curriculum Vitae and diaries, and some official material such as job descriptions, were collected and analysed. These materials addressed a number of objectives; they were utilised as pre-interview reference material to make the interview questions more informed and direct; they were analysed in order to address the research questions by building up relevant information; and they also helped to present an overview of the events, emotions, and experiences that have shaped the lives and professional experiences of the selected women who hold high positions. This study highlighted the importance of early socialisation, which has been associated with shaping the women's perceptions and skills; in addition, holding positions and practicing leadership responsibilities honed their personal skills as leaders throughout the course of their career in leadership. This study reveals that the Dean of the Female Section, Vice Dean of the Female Section, and the Vice Dean of Faculty all seem to hold the highest possible positions for women at their universities, but nevertheless stand between senior leadership and the rest of the departments. They reported that they have very limited opportunities and authority and lack of access to the resources they need to make decisions that are important for their sections, despite the fact that females comprise more than 60 per cent of the students enrolled in university. Gender has been raised as the main challenge that hinders women from advancing in leadership positions. The findings also show that the society's gender stereotyping and attitudes towards women, and the gender divisions within the labour culture, impede women from full participation in the top levels of the managerial function. There are many issues emerging that affect the participants' professional identity in this study. These issues were mainly linked to their perceptions of what represents academic identity, their self-image as leaders, the status they had gained, the interplay between personal and professional identities, and how they felt moving away from core academic responsibilities to a primarily administrative role. This study contributes significantly to the very limited body of literature about women and educational leadership in higher education in Saudi Arabia and raises more academic concerns in this field. It reveals the demand for the design of more advanced leadership programmes and policies to ensure equal participation of men and women in university leadership.

MENTAL work , *INTELLECTUALS , *PUBLIC universities & colleges , *JUDGMENT sampling , *INTELLECTUAL development , *LEADERSHIP - Abstract
In a university system, the key to identifying and rewarding excellence is through academic promotion to professorship. However, research on the characteristics of professors as excellent academic leaders and how they enact leadership activities is very limited. The main issues include unclear definition of excellent professors and in-depth research on the notion and concept of academic leadership. Thus, this study aims to explore the elements of excellence among senior professors in the Malaysian public universities by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of their leadership contributions. Based on a qualitative study and using a document analysis approach on curriculum vitae, ten senior professors holding VK 5 post (Grade A) were selected as respondents using purposive sampling method. They represented the four types of public universities namely research, comprehensive, technical and focused. The findings revealed that in general, the senior professors' excellent contribution is unbalanced and skewed towards elements related to teaching, research and management. The senior professors reported less contribution involving professional development and public intellectual activities. The findings also showed that they contributed excessively to activities within their own university ecosystem, but less on activities outside their university, and at the regional and international levels. The findings point to several implications for academic leadership theories, policy development, and the status and relevance of the academic profession in Malaysia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

JOB resumes ,RESEARCH grants ,TEACHING awards ,SEX discrimination in education ,EMPLOYABILITY ,AUTOETHNOGRAPHY - Abstract
The curriculum vitae (CV) is a short account of one's career and qualifications typically prepared for a position or promotion. In academia, the CV chronicles a representation of the academic self in terms of scholarly activities such as publications, research grants and projects, conference participation and teaching awards. Far from being a neutral record, the CV (re)produces gendered norms and highlights continued gender inequalities in academic careers. This article explores how the CV is made possible (and consequently measured and valued) through material practices as well as via discourses of productivity, employability and success. It does this by embracing Jack Halberstam's concept of 'queer failure' and Karen Barad's theory of 'intra-action' in an experimental auto-ethico-ethnography of the academic CV. Using a diffractive approach, this article also calls into question the separation of the body and the materiality of the CV, our emotional relationship with the CV, as well as gendered academic labour. In theorising the CV through the lens of performativity, attention is reoriented towards the assemblage of relations and intra-actions between academic, writing, the career, the body and representation and reveals them to be complexly located within and through each other. trayecto profesional ,currículum vitae ,significatividad ,Education - Abstract
This article is based on an inquiry about the curriculum vitae of a teacher and the analysis of it from the perspective related to the notion of curriculum as a space for disciplinary training. It made sense in this work the idea of significance, understood as the underlying principle of selection that explains the choices, attitudes, decisions and adhesions that the individual expresses and performs, in this particular case in relation to professional life. The qualitative approach was the methodological pillar of this work, since the aim was to understand a particular situation, contextualized in a certain historical time. Consequently, the perspective of the actors involved was revalued. In principle, the conclusions revolve around the possibility of describing the professional path of a teacher, showing different activities of a person in a specific spatial and temporal order. There are periods or stages at different levels and functions and there are also periods of acceleration and condensation of activities that suggest labor intensification. Likewise, there are temporary segments in which the trail is ruled, slow, serene, due to particular circumstances of personal life. It is worth stressing the importance exerted by the political and social pressures in times of occupying hierarchical positions, being the triggers of resignations in the professional performance. The question of significance put on the center stage the close relationship between the personal sphere and the professional sphere.
