Pathogenesis of endometriosis (EN) is still unknown, but growing evidence suggests that immune regulation may be important, and the pattern of peripheral immune changes in reproductive women with EN has yet to be fully explored. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive and systematic analysis of immune cell subsets within T cells, B cells, NK cells, and γδ T cells in peripheral blood (PB) samples from women with EN, women with uterine fibroids (UF) but without EN (UF-alone), and healthy controls using multi-parameter flow cytometry. Our findings revealed that UF, a common comorbidity of EN, exhibited similar peripheral immune features to EN, particularly in T cell and B cell immunity. Compared to healthy controls, we constructed the peripheral immune profile of EN. This profile highlighted that the immunopathogenic factors in EN predominantly relate to the immune disorder of B cells and their subsets, as well as the functional abnormalities within immune cell subsets of CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, and γδ T cells. Moreover, using the random forest (RF) machine-learning method, we developed a diagnostic model that can effectively identify the patients with EN from healthy controls. The immune factors identified within this model could be pivotal for unraveling the immune pathogenic mechanisms of EN. Our study is the first to present a comprehensive depiction of the circulating immune features in EN, although the detailed roles and underlying mechanisms of these immune factors in the context of EN require further investigation.

Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a global health challenge, and patient education plays a crucial role in its early detection and treatment. Despite progress in AI technology, as exemplified by transformer-like models such as ChatGPT, there remains a lack of in-depth understanding of their efficacy for medical purposes. We aimed to assess the proficiency of ChatGPT in the field of popular science, specifically in answering questions related to CRC diagnosis and treatment, using the book “Colorectal Cancer: Your Questions Answered” as a reference. In general, 131 valid questions from the book were manually input into ChatGPT. Responses were evaluated by clinical physicians in the relevant fields based on comprehensiveness and accuracy of information, and scores were standardized for comparison. Not surprisingly, ChatGPT showed high reproducibility in its responses, with high uniformity in comprehensiveness, accuracy, and final scores. However, the mean scores of ChatGPT’s responses were significantly lower than the benchmarks, indicating it has not reached an expert level of competence in CRC. While it could provide accurate information, it lacked in comprehensiveness. Notably, ChatGPT performed well in domains of radiation therapy, interventional therapy, stoma care, venous care, and pain control, almost rivaling the benchmarks, but fell short in basic information, surgery, and internal medicine domains. While ChatGPT demonstrated promise in specific domains, its general efficiency in providing CRC information falls short of expert standards, indicating the need for further advancements and improvements in AI technology for patient education in healthcare.

ObjectiveTo analyze an acute gastroenteritis outbreak caused by co-infection with Vibrio parahaemolyticus （V. parahaemolyticus） and non-O1/O139 Vibrio cholerae （V. cholerae）.MethodsFour anal swabs， 12 food samples， and 8 environmental samples enriched in liquid culture media were subjected to pathogen screening with real-time PCR. V. parahaemolyticus and V. cholerae strains isolated were subjected to whole genome sequencing， and virulence and antibiotic resistance genes were screened. Cladograms were constructed based on core genome single nucleotide polymorphisms.ResultsV. parahaemolyticus strains were detected in anal swab samples with real-time PCR that were toxRVP+/tdh+/trh-， and two of them were positive for V. cholerae. The positive rate of V. parahaemolyticus in the anal swab samples was 100% （4/4）， the isolates were toxRVP+/tdh+/trh-， and their serotype was O4：KUT. The positive rate of V. cholerae culture in the anal swabs of patients was 50% （2/4）. The serogroup of the isolates was non-O1/O139， and one of them was toxRVC+/ctx/t3ss+. The positive rate of V. parahaemolyticus in the food samples was 66.67% （8/12）， and that in the environment samples was 12.50% （1/8）. The strains isolated from food and environmental samples were toxRVP+/tdh-/trh-. The positive rate of V. cholerae culture in the food samples was 25.00% （3/12） and the isolated strains were toxRVC+/ctx/t3ss-. The V. parahaemolyticus strains isolated from patient， food， and environment samples formed 10 distinct lineages. The four patient isolates were highly clonal. The V. cholerae strains isolated from two patients and three food samples formed five distinct lineages.ConclusionThe outbreak was caused by co-infection with V. parahaemolyticus and non-O1/O139 V. cholerae. Real-time PCR and whole-genome sequence analysis of strains should be performed in the detection and analysis of outbreaks caused by vibrio co-infection. Additionally， optimization of vibrio culture pathways is recommended.

This paper explores the process of traditional voiceprint recognition, analyzes the traditional GMM recognition algorithm, and proposes a GE2E-based voiceprint recognition algorithm by combining it with the deep neural network. It firstly uses the Bi-GRU network to replace the LSTM network to prevent the lack of semantic information, then adds the SGD algorithm to optimize the speech features, and finally improves the stability and accuracy of recognition by the GE2E loss function. On this basis, a voiceprint recognition system based on GE2E is designed, and the overall performance of the system is tested. Additionally, a voiceprint recognition system is being explored for fault localization. The results show that the recognition accuracy of male voiceprints in the test is at [0.89,0.95], and the recognition accuracy of female voiceprints is at [0.88,0.96], and there is not much difference in the voiceprint recognition accuracy of the voiceprint recognition system for both male and female students, and the overall recognition accuracy is greater than 0.9. When applied in fault location, the error between the measured distance and the actual fault distance is within 0.1 meters, enabling fault location.

Toronto, among the most diverse cities in the world, is home to a massive Chinese diaspora and hosts no fewer than five Chinese orchestras. Varying in size from 20 to 60 members, and in status from professional to amateur, these orchestras have been providing a home for Chinese instrumentalists and exposing Torontonians to Chinese music since 1993. In this article, I analyze the repertoire choices of three of these orchestras since 1993 to consider how their repertoire relates to their members’ identities and the organizations’ goals. In particular, I argue that the repertoire represents complex negotiations of diasporic communities, both with their audiences and among the orchestra members themselves; for instance, these orchestras’ directors seek the balance between new repertoire and old repertoire without losing audiences. Moreover, these negotiations demonstrate the impact of transnationalism (Zheng Su, 2010) and hybridity (Ang Ien, 2003) on diasporic Chinese communities in Toronto. The city’s multicultural environment enables these Chinese orchestras to collaborate with musicians and music groups from different cultural backgrounds. This article provides insights into how the history of Chinese orchestras in Toronto contributes to our understanding of how Chinese diaspora music history is actually Canadian music history.

A step-by-step implementation of a machine learning algorithm for estimating the capacity of rectangular sections of reinforced concrete beams is considered. In this case, prestressing is not taken into account. Dependencies for strength determination based on analytical models are given, as well as the solution to the linear regression equation. The minimisation of the MSE between the data obtained from the linear regression equation and the analytical model is used as a metric to assess the quality of the predictions. A preliminary prediction of the ultimate moment is given in the case of considering a single working rebar and the plastic nature of normal section failure. The approach presented has prospects for use in the study of the load-bearing capacity of steel structures. For example, in stochastic optimisation algorithms, technical condition assessment and damage propagation prediction, structural investigation of accident causes, load identification, etc.

Background: Cognitive impairment (CI) is common in older adults, especially those with renal dysfunction. We aimed to investigate the complex relationships among renal function, nutritional status, and CI in older people free from late chronic kidney disease (CKD) and severe CI. Methods: A study of older people (≥60 years old) with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of >30 mL/min/1.73 m2 and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scores of >10 (n = 237) was conducted at Beijing Tongren Hospital. Their eGFR was determined using the CKD‐EPI‐cr‐Cysc equation. Cognitive function was evaluated with the MoCA. We tested the relationship between eGFR and MoCA scores using Spearman correlation analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis. We then conducted a mediation analysis to figure out the mediating roles of nutritional indicators (Mini Nutritional Assessment‐Short Form (MNA‐SF) scores, albumin (ALB), and haemoglobin (HGB)) between the eGFR and MoCA scores. Results: The incidence of CI was 48.5% (115/237) in older people. Spearman correlation analysis revealed that the better the kidney function, the better the cognitive function (R = 0.297, P < 0.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that eGFR decrease per 15 mL/min/1.73 m2 (OR: 1.415, 95% confidence interval: 1.055–1.896, P = 0.020) was related to CI after adjusting for age and sex. However, the eGFR was not associated with cognitive decline after adjusting for nutritional indicators, behavioural risk factors, other biomarkers, and chronic conditions, suggesting that eGFR is not independently associated with CI. Mediation analysis revealed that the MNA‐SF scores (a*b = 0.006 (0.0002–0.012)) and HGB (a*b = 0.008 (0.001–0.017)) were mediating factors between the eGFR and MoCA scores. Conclusions: A decline in renal function can directly lead to CI and can also exacerbate cognitive deficits through intermediary factors such as MNA‐SF scores and HGB. Therefore, correcting anaemia and improving nutritional status are significantly important for enhancing cognitive function in older patients, especially those with renal dysfunction. This paper proposes a high-precision interventional pressure measurement catheter with a compact structure for in vivo pressure monitoring. This catheter uses a minimally invasive testing method, and the proposed compact structure reduces pressure loss caused by fluid movement inside the catheter, ensuring accuracy in dynamically varying pressure measurements. The paper conducts a theoretical analysis of the pressure transmission process inside the catheter, fabricates a prototype, and establishes both dynamic and static pressure testing systems. Through experimental research on the effects of the catheter's dimensions on the accuracy of dynamically varying pressure measurements, it demonstrates that the compact pressure measurement catheter can effectively enhance the precision of dynamically varying pressure measurements. The catheter offers high precision, small size, and simple manufacturing processes. It holds promising applications in fields such as in-body pressure measurement and microfluidic system monitoring.
